I've had to call twice to schedule an in office procedure. When the surgery scheduler called me back, I was unavailable. I returned the call same day and she was working the front desk and therefore would not be scheduling any appointments for the rest of the day. I called the next day (today) and she's out of the office. I've been waiting over a week to get this scheduled, while in pain, and the office staff seem to not care. I'm waiting for the office manager to call me, so I can lodge a complaint. I just want this over with so I don't have to return to this clinic again. I'm so disappointed.

Booked an appointment over the phone since the online portal wasnā€™t available. The earliest time slot they had was over a month out - When I arrived I was informed that a male medical student would be involved in my pelvic exam & I told the nurse I wasnā€™t comfortable with that & she told me thereā€™s nothing they can do. I ended up declining a majority of the check up procedures due to being uncomfortable. I was also never informed over the phone that my doctor was going to be a male, which if someone is comfortable with a male preforming their pelvic and breast exams thatā€™s great but I personally am not. I mentioned to several staff me members that the gender of their doctor should be disclosed when making the appointment because had I known it was going to be a male I would have opted out of the appointment. At the end of the visit a female supervisor came in to ask how the appointment went and I again mentioned that they should inform their patients on who their doctor will be (my fault for not asking over the phone I guess) & instead of being met with empathy, she laughed and mocked my statement and scurried out of the room. I was not comfortable with the doctor, who isnā€™t even listed on the website, preforming my exam but I went ahead only because I had waited so long to get into this appointment - which I now regret doing. On top of that the nurse informed me that a male medical student would be involved in my check up to which I told her I was uncomfortable with and she basically told me there was nothing I can do. I also felt very pressured regarding birth control and the doctor didnā€™t seem to understand I wasnā€™t interested in it & kept circling back to try to get me on. I also had several questions regarding my reproductive health that I did not feel comfortable discussing with a male physician so I opted out of that conversation and left feeling very uncomfortable and uninformed. Overall, I have learned many lessons regarding my consent with medical professionals and do not recommend banner womans clinic.

This clinic is a disgrace to all the expecting mom! If you have to call 5/6 times a week in your first trimester just to schedule your first OBGYN appointment and every time throughout the whole week you have to listen that someone will call you back but never receive any call back, then you would understand why I am saying this. You would see what is the worst way you can deal with a potential patient! Very lousy and outdated system of patient scheduling, no professionalism at all....OB-GYN Physicians? Well, you have to get to the physician first, the scheduling office will keep you waiting and give you so much hurdles and negative vibes (i.e. any doctors will not be available till the end of they year) that you will end up changing your insurance and going for other physicians/clinics who care for potential patients and for their time! Not recommended at all.....

Been attempting to get a return call from them for 3+ weeks to schedule surgery to no avail. They were quick for an initial visit and tell me they needed to get me into scheduling for surgery. Only after I called to schedule did they tell me I needed PCP clearance and no matter how many times I call and leave messages, I NEVER get a call back with information on what they even need - and they refuse to schedule anything until I get that clearance. I get that maybe one person and one surgery isn't that big of a deal to them, but it's definitely a big deal to me. Never have I felt so tossed aside by a heath care provider. In the process of pulling my records to move to Mayo Clinic. This place is a joke. They are the last people I would trust for a major surgery at this point.

I called trying to be seen by a doctorā€¦ and the receptionist was extremely rude. I ended up not even continuing the call because the way the lady was speaking to me ā€¦. Iā€™m pregnant, and pretty emotional, and that lady was completely non sympathetic at all . Just 100% rude ā€¦.. I guess I wonā€™t be going there ..

I changed to this clinic because I wanted to have VBAC support.. in my initial appointment I wanted to make sure they were VBAC supportive and not VBAC tolerant.. by the end of my pregnancy it was clear these docs are VBAC tolerant not VBAC SUPPORTIVE.. which if anyone is looking for VBACs you want the support.. during L&D there was only one dr.; Dr. Smith (the blondish haired one) that actually gave me true support but she was sadly not able to be the delivering doctor.. it was actually the dark haired dr smith that was. Although I have no complaints about her either. Upon my admittance into L&D wing a doctor Shane I believe her name was literally said to me ā€œif you arenā€™t going to take measures to progress your labor we will give this room to someone who willā€ because I mentioned I didnā€™t want to automatically start a foley bulb and pictocin since my water had brokenā€¦. Completely baffling to my husband and myself I actually may file a formal complaint about this comment.. In the clinic I have been forgotten in the lobby for 1h+ on more than one occasion.. I was also forgotten on the NST monitor for over an hour despite calling the front desk every 20 minutes. The MAs are sweethearts and understaffed so I donā€™t hold it against them at all. My last two postpartum appointments were my last straw.. I went in and told the doctor I gained 10-15 pounds in since having my baby.. I figured it was my PCOS.. she told me to come back in a month to check my bloodwork because I was only 6 week PP and it was far too soon. I went back after another couple weeks and was 10 min late to my appointment but you are allowed 15 as a grace period. (Considering how long it takes to park and get upstairs from the parking lot was why I was 10 min late) .. the lady behind the desk called me up right away and said sheā€™d check me inā€¦. She waited 6 minutes to check me in. The MA called me up and said Iā€™d have to reschedule.. I was upset because like Iā€™ve said theyā€™ve forgotten me for hours on multiple occasions. She asked why I was even having the appointment I told her at my 6 week visit the doc told me to come back to get blood work for my PCOS and weight gain. She said that wasnā€™t noted anywhere in my notes. GREAT. By this visit I was 20lbs higher from when I gave birth. They decided that was a lot and wanted to speak with me.. the doctor heard me talk about my PCOS Symptoms and PP symptoms then they refused checking my blood/insulin at all. She said I was ā€œonly 6lbs heavierā€ than my last apptā€¦ RIGHT!! NOW AT 20 LBS UP IN LESS THAN 2 MONTHS!! She spent the next several minutes talking to me about going to see a primary care doctor and why she even has a primary care doctor herselfā€¦. PCOS is not for a primary care doctor sweetheart. I went back to AZ gynecology consultants and wasnā€™t even there a full 5 minutes.. they heard my symptoms one minute and were taking my blood the next.. they were shocked when I told them what happened at banner and they didnā€™t understand it either. Not to mention the postpartum wing in Banner University sucks and needs to be upgraded.. there was just a rinky dinky chair for my husband to sit in. I made him go home each night to sleep instead of sticking around to help me because thereā€™s literally no where for him to sleep.. the patient service assistant Olga is rude as hell and her perfume is way too strong. Her tone and demeanor made me feel so uncomfortable after about 2 days of trying to get a baby out she was not someone I wanted around me. Olga if you ever read this please find a new profession or department because the postpartum wing is not for you. However the L&D nurses were amazing as well as the Postpartum nurses.. Iā€™d also like to say that the MAs from the banner womens clinic are sweethearts and thereā€™s one in particular I plan to thank in person and at that point I will finally remember her name and update this review. I hope anyone who reads this finds it helpful. My husband and I agree we will not be back for additional pregnancies nor for delivery across the street.

Review-currently being seen I had an appointment on august 2nd. Waited 45 minutes. Informed the front desk I was going to the bathroom. When I came back, the person filling in for dr. Smiths regular nurse came out to get me. She rushed me to the scale speaking fast thinking it was going to rush the check in process. I had to repeatedly ask her to repeat herself because of the speed of speaking she was also mumbling. I came into the exam room. She asked why I was here and I told her I think for a Pap smear and biopsy. She said I was here for results. I asked if I was getting the Pap smear done and she said thatā€™s up to the doctor. That is fine I understand but she did not give the banner experience. I felt really lost and frustrated with my care since joining banner and the attitude is not helping. She asked if I left a urine sample and I explained I wasnā€™t aware I had to leave a sample. She said for the exam I was supposed to have I was supposed to leave one. You cannot believe how defeated I feel right now. She just came back into the exam room and seems upset while sheā€™s She just came back into the exam room and seems upset while sheā€™s setting up for my procedure. I donā€™t know if I even want to stay. The frustration of this offices poor communication and less than professional attitude. This is why people are losing faith in the healthcare system.

Iā€™ve had issues with my reproductive system since my early 20ā€™s I am now in my mid 40ā€™s and I have never had the care or understanding like I did today coming to Banner. I had an incredible experience with the gynecologist I saw and she actually listened to me and did not dismiss my issues like other drā€™s have. I live in East Mesa and I will continue to make the trip to come to Banner. Thank you so much for all you do!

As someone who never writes reviews, I cannot emphasize enough how pleased I am with this office. I have seen the same doctor here for about two years. She is knowledgeable, thorough, warm, truly cares, makes me feel 100% comfortable and never lets me leave without making sure I understand everything we've discussed at my appointment. The on call nurses are just as fabulous. I have never had any issues with the front office, other than one insurance price discrepancy which they honored as they quoted me the wrong price before one of my appointments. I highly recommend this office to anyone in search for prenatal care or a new OBGYN.

Banner University Women's Institute is a professional, clean and well run facility that truly cares about the individual. I am a patient of Dr. Rachael Smith's and have been absolutely so blessed that I found her. She took the time to address my complex medical history, trialed out options with me and eventually led to hysterectomy where they found endometriosis. With that said, the surgery went amazing and they ensured that my recovery would succeed. Yes, everybody is different and some people have reservations and do not want to trial various methods; but patients must understand that doctors have to tailor each treatment to the individual and their chemical makeup. If the patient is not willing to try various treatments and stuck in a mindset, then they won't truly be happy with anything other than what they want. With that said, it is not the doctors at this clinic's "fault" for not meeting every patients requirements or needs. They must do what is clinically and logically the best solution. If this was the case and I had not worked though options, they would not have been able to operate and find my endometriosis which was causing a great deal of pain. Regardless, if you are looking for a gynecologist who is loving, caring and truly wants the patient to be healed and away from pain, go to Dr. Smith and the Banner Women's Institute!

Let me start with this... I absolutely loved the first resident I saw here and the people at the front desk are really nice. I was really disappointed I couldn't get the IUD taken care of in the first visit because I feel I would have been taken care of more efficiently and had an all around better experience. I already knew what I wanted before my first visit with them - I was referred from my primary doctor to get the procedure done, but they wouldn't give it to me during my first visit and said I needed to think it over. Which is super frustrating because I have had my mind made up and would have had this done months ago if my primary was able to do it. When I arrived for my next appointment, I waited 20-30 mins past my appointment time. Finally get called back and ask the NA for some ibuprofen (the resident from my first visit told me if I forgot to take some, they would provide in office). I waited close to an hour and a half after my appointment time for them to start the procedure(without being provided the ibuprofen). It was extremely painful for me and I'm usually a champ when it comes to handling pain. I'm sure the long wait and not having the ibuprofen contributed a lot to that. After it was done, I asked again for some ibuprofen and waited 15 mins until I decided to just leave. I have never been in this type of pain and I just hope it was done correctly cause I never plan on going back there. It was a horrible experience.

First, I just want to start with a HUGE thank you to Dr. Jamal Mourad and his fellows especially Dr. Nortan. I started my endometriosis journey in December of 2022 and today April 4, 2023 I am one week postop from my endo laparoscopy. I have suffered from awful menstrual cycles since I was 13 and I knew it wasn't normal as I got older. I first seen Dr. Nortan and he made me feel very comfortable, he understood what I was feeling and talking about he was the one who said it sounds like you have Endo and he informed me of what the long process is going to look like. Then Dr. Mourad came in and told me lets go through with the procedure now that you are young and can heal quickly. Never once did they make me feel like I my pain didn't matter or "the pain comes with having a period / unbearable cramps are normal." Endo isn't something you can see or detect without a laparoscopy, so I went through with the surgery. And I had stage 2 endometriosis. Dr. Mourad with the help of his team removed it all! I am definitely not a person to leave reviews but Dr. Mourad, Dr. Nortan and the rest of the fellows deserve it! Thank you again, I am very grateful I found this Obgyn!

I was super nervous to go get an implant replaced, but a resident under Dr. Bell, i believe her name was Dr. Shan, was not only really nice and calming but insanely skilled. When getting the implant put in originally it was one of the most painful experiences I have had, but Dr. Shan was able to replace it with no problem and with very minimal, but expected discomfort and talked to me through the whole thing. It was a super nice experience thanks to both of them! I would definitely recommend and will continue to see them in the future. Thanks again you guys!:)

I have not had the experience that most of the other people here have had. I have been to multiple locations and they've all been very nice and staff has all been very nice and professional. The only thing I will say is that communication is sometimes a challenge. Like they say they're going to call to schedule surgery, PT or injections but they never do. You have to call them and usually leave more than one message. I was sent to Dr. Mahnert by the VA hospital after previously being at St. Joes and getting nowhere with them after a year and a half. The pelvic pain and surgery department at dignity St. Joe's is a joke and after a year and a half even my doctor, Dr. Castellanos, bailed out and left them. Since I've been at Banner, Dr. Mahnert has always been very straightforward, informative and supportive. This is exactly what I want in a GYN+ I recommend this place if you're looking for pelvic pain specialist. *I will update this post after my surgery this summer. Post surgery I like this place even more. Dr. Mahnert is everything I ever wanted in a women's health doctor as well as an exceptional surgeon. The residents and techs are equally professional and supportive of their patients.

This is the best OB I have EVER been too! If you have a lot of medical issues or previous high risk pregnancies, you will be in great hands here. All of my issues are always addressed, I feel respected and heard, and they never miss a beat. They even signed me up to receive a free BP cuff because of my elevated blood pressures. Canā€™t recommend this place more. I live in the west valley and itā€™s well worth the drive. Thank you guys soooo much! After experiencing horrible OB doctors in the past, this place is a refreshing reminder that not all OB doctors are the same.

The front desk Hispanic lady on a Monday at 130pm was extremely rude and not friendly when I was trying to check in for a very important appointment. I do not appreciate that. Hopefully someone talks to this lady because that is unacceptable to your patients

Dr. Rachel Smith was my Dr. She was great!! I hope she will be back!! I recommend her 150% for all you ladies ...I have resently learned she is out, on maternity leave. I had several months of care with her, she listened to my concerns and gave me several options when it came to my care, The first time someone actually listened to what I wanted for my health and let me decide what I felt I wanted ,of course taking into consideration her expert opinion. I have to go back soon. I just hope the next Dr. Is just as attentive and kind as her. Reading these reviews has me wondering I must say!!

This is a review for Banner University Medicine Women's Institute, and Dr. Saunders and her team in particular. I moved to Phoenix half-way through my pregnancy, and didn't know how to find a great ob. I ended up with Dr. Saunders, and could not have been happier. She is the dream doctor. Both serious and competent and professional, but also amazing bedside manner, so easy to talk to, and never makes you feel rushed. She delivered my baby as well, which was awesome, and I felt so safe and confident in her hands. I trusted her judgement completely. She was both authoritative and calm, which I think is the dream for an ob. I felt so listened to every moment with her and her team. If you're pregnant, I strongly recommend the Banner Women's Institute. It's a really great place, and in general the place just has great vibes.

I really regret using them for this last pregnancy. It's always a different doctor and they will contradict each other. They have told me not to worry and still come in for my appointment after my car broke down( I needed to see a doctor badly.).. they knew I would be 15 minutes late and reassured me. I knew I needed to see the doctor and found a way to get myself the rest of the way there but they TURNED ME AWAY after everything I went through to get there because I was 20 minutes late. I was speechless. They are constantly putting incorrect information in my file and telling me things that don't end up being the case. It's been so stressful! Yesterday, they were going through different days and times I could schedule my next appointment ( I'm suppose to see the doctor once a week now that I am due to deliver) but had decided I needed to visit OB triage first and instructed me to call back when I was done. I was just released from triage and called to schedule but the woman only gave me one option...which was for 3pm on Thursday. That's only 15 minutes before I would have to get my son from school.. on the other side of town while borrowing someone's car. I told her the situation with rhat day And so she told me I would jave to wait until January 25th! Thats long after my daughter will be born! Because I listened to them..by waiting to schedule until I was out of triage.. I won't be seeing any doctor until after she is born. What happened to all the appointment options just the day before??? Why am I not following up with a doctor BEFORE I deliver???? To top it off, I have no idea who is going to be delivering my baby but I DO NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE WITH THIS PLACE. I switched to this clinic because I heard they were knowledgeable with higher risk pregnancy but I was sadly mistaken and I'm so ashamed I kept holding out, hoping things would get better. My child deserves better and I deserve better. I urge first time and older moms to please go somewhere else! I wish I had any other options right now. I want to have my baby somewhere rhat I can feel safe. This breaks my heart and I feel totally and completely helpless and powerless.

The staff are all super kind and the practitioners are very skilled and great at what they do. Lab work is also done in-house as well as the Glucose testing. I never had to go to another facility. This is probably the number one hospital in the Valley if not AZ for Obstetrics and everyone in the industry has had great things to say when I tell them I am at Banner University Phoenix. They also had wonderful birth preferences for natural birthing (tubs, tea candles, low light, etc.). Itā€™s also nice to be able to see your OB at this office and then deliver your baby next door. Makes things way easier paperwork wise. I have had nothing but great experiences and have the utmost respect for everyone in this office. I see Dr, Cheney (since moved to GY) and FNP Bailey Bylow (also a lactation consultant!).

This is my first pregnancy and the doctor I had seen was very informative. I never had a pap smear so he and two other ladies had that done for me and then i had a transvaginal ultrasound to see/hear the baby. Everyone was so kind and made me feel very comfortable. The ladies who check in and check out were also very kind. Overall I enjoyed my experience today 6/29 @1:40pm

Do yourself a favor and check your patient portal notes. This facility does not believe in informed consent. If you had a procedure under anesthesia, chances are the provider you thought did it, did not do it. It's so sad that while you are at your most vulnerable (under anesthesia), random student doctors can practice on you without your consent. Dr. Mahnert was the provider I trusted to do my procedure, instead Dr.Davitt a random student fellow I have never met did it. I was not even told he performed my procedure until I checked my clinic notes after experiencing continued pain and cramping. I am very disappointed and I know I am not the only one who has had this type of experience.

Doctors do not listen to what you want to do. Kept pushing me to get on birth control or an IUD when Iā€™m trying to get pregnant in the next few months. Do not waste your going here. The doctor I booked an appointment with came in the room for about 1 minute and asked if I had any questions and left. I left in tears, makes me sad to see how doctors do not listen to their patients and wants/needs.
