Absolutely awful experience. I donā€™t even know where to begin. Fox promotes a super discounted rate which is how folks are lured in. (This is especially prevalent when you prepay your booking on 3rd party sites). I was charged for an international service fee on my credit card for my prepayment. Apparently, Fox Rental is not a US-based company. Upon arrival in Phoenix, we arrived in the rental facility where all the other rental companies are located. None, and I mean NONE, of them had a line besides Fox. A line 10 customers deep. 1.5 hours later I approached the counter where I was told my prepaid vehicle now required an additional charge of $349?!? Totally misleading. I wouldā€™ve walked away but they require cancellation >24 hours. I have rental car coverage through my personal insurance but they assured me that it wasnā€™t enough. Then, the started quoting astronomical gas prices to get me to purchase gas from them instead of doing so on my own. They advised gas prices were $4.00+ in the area. Well, they got me because this definitely was not the case. I promise I will NEVER rent from this company again and I have already warned others!

I wish I could give Phoenix Fox ZERO stars. Don't be tempted to save $100 by going with this rental agency!!! We waited in line 3 1/2 hours for our rental while every other car rental agency had nobody waiting in line to pick up their cars. We paid extra to extend our rental on the front end, and then ended up waiting THREE AND A HALF hours on a Sunday afternoon in line for our rental. Not only was it completely frustrating, but it took up precious vacation time and started our trip off with a pretty sour taste. It's completely unacceptable to totally disregard pickup times and overbook to the extent that the line never got shorter the entire time we waited. That is simply poor planning and poor inventory management to allow that many rentals in that time period that a line would require more than 3 hours of waiting to get the car you expected in a one hour pickup window. We were offered nothing for the inconvenience or the shortened rental window due to nearly 4 hour wait for the car. We also had to pay for an Uber for me and our toddler while my husband waited in that horrendous line because an 18-month-old fresh off a four hour flight cannot wait another 4 hours for a rental car. Overall just a terrible experience that ensured we will NEVER rent from Fox again. This photo was after 2 1/2 hours in line! Only an hour to go now that we can actually see the counter!

EDIT: Customer service responded to my review and told me to contact customer support. I sent customer support all of my screen shots of being overcharged and everything wrong with it. Customer service responded saying that I returned the vehicle with an empty tank and that they would only reimburse me $80 OR i had the option for a $120 credit. So they still beat me out of $230!! Gas does NOT cost $230. I attached more pictures of the morning that I dropped the car off I took pictures because of the low PSI. Then I attached a screenshot so it showed the date and my location THEN attached a screen shot of my gas receipt. Photo of gas tank was taken before I left where I was staying on my way to the airport. You will also see the amount I was supposed to be charged and what I actually ended up paying. This company is a total rip off!!!! DO NOT RENT FROM HERE!!! A car rental that was supposed to be $201 ended up being $432!!!! I was so disappointed with this company. Our flight got in at 10:30PM so I didnā€™t really notice the issues. I did notice the car smelled and the Jeep Wrangler we rented was an older model with 75,000 miles. We got it home and I am not one to normally complain, we got an older car, fine. Then we drove to another location two hours away to visit Sedona, on the way there going down hill the brakes shook constantly. As you can see from the pictures the Jeep itself was disgusting, windshield wipers did not help the situation, it was truly hard to see out of the window. We had to be at the airport early in the morning so we wake up, start the car and the tire pressure light is on. Back left tire PSI was at 26 (should be 36, I know this because I own a Jeep Wrangler). Last but not least - I was charged DOUBLE the amount I was supposed to be charged. Needless to say our next trip in April to Phoenix we will NOT be using Fox.

BEWARE!!!! Stay away from this car rental unless you have over 2 hours to waste getting your car. They DO NOT maintain their vehicles!! Also after finally getting our rental, it smelled so bad we left the windows rolled down for the ride to hotel. The tire on back, drivers side, was so low (light came on as we weā€™re almost to our destination) and had to stop to put air in tire. It had a small leak. We had to call several places the next morning to get tire patched but everything had over 2 hour wait time. I mean why didnā€™t Fox rental check tire pressure on these cars? One thing that the car was filthy but the tires?!!!! Come on!!!??!!!! Also to make matters worse, car died on us the following day in a main intersection! Yes, we did leave messages, no one bothered to call back! The front tires are nearing if not already their maximum lifetime age as well. Iā€™ve included pictures for proof. Please safety first! Fox should be ashamed of themselves!!!! The cost savings is not worth the risk of an accident and safety of passengers. Please be aware.

Horrible experience. Can I post ZERO stars!! I booked a Jeep Compass or similar vehicle on Expedia months earlier knowing that the Waste Management golf tournament was going on the weekend before I arrived. I had adjusted my vacation to accommodate my travel plans. Upon arriving at Fox Rent A Car I was informed that no vehicles in my class were available due to the golf tournament. They also stated they donā€™t even rent Jeeps of any sort. I could downsize for no extra cost or upgrade for an additional fee. I could not downsize due to passengers and luggage so I had to upgrade. I informed Juan (the agent I dealt with) that the golf tournament ended on Sunday and this was Tuesday so why werenā€™t any vehicles in my class range available. He basically said ā€œdo you want the upgrade or notā€. I had no choice. After filling out the paperwork, we headed downstairs to pick up the rental vehicle. A Toyota 4Runner. It had balding tires, dents and scratches all over it. I asked for a different vehicle and the lady said ā€œnone were availableā€. I looked around and saw many vehicles that were in better condition and they same vehicle size. I requested a white Toyota 4Runner that was being backed into a spot and she declined my request. Got into the vehicle and drove off the lot. Got onto the interstate and the front end shook like it had not been aligned in months. The vehicle had over 30,000 miles and drove like it had over 200,000. After looking at the tires, I did not feel safe driving my family in this vehicle. After a couple days, I drove back to the Phoenix Airport Rental Car hub to complain and request a different vehicle. I had called and complained about the tires losing air and having to inflate them. Even though Fox Rent a Car has a policy to come and fix flats, provide gas, they just said ā€œgo yo a filling station and fill the tires with airā€. I drove to the garage and complained to the attendant about the lack of quality of the vehicle and showed them the tires. She did not speak English well and basically directed me upstairs to the agent at the desk. The desk agent (which turned out to be the manager) stated no vehicles in my class were available and I was stuck with this vehicle. I informed him of the issues Iā€™ve had with the vehicle and told him that I saw other vehicles down below in the garage that were ready to be rented that I would except. He again informed me that no vehicles were available and that I was ā€œbasically stuckā€ with the vehicle I had until I returned it. I told him that the front end was totally out of alignment, the tires on the front were bald, and the vehicle was unsafe to drive. He said at that time if I wanted to return the vehicle I could. I was between a rock and a hard place as I needed a vehicle for my vacation but felt totally unsafe driving it. See picture of one of the front tire. Totally disappointed with this rental car company and will never rent from them again putting my friends and family in danger. Update: After I got home and filed a complaint with my credit card company, Fox Rent a Wreck absolutely lied to my credit card company stating I REQUESTED an upgrade and I should have called and spoke to a manager. I did call the Phoenix Sky Harbor office and Corporate office and also drove back to the Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport location to speak to someone. Still fighting this bill.

The prices are the most competitive, but the line was no bueno. Perhaps something could be streamlined so it doesnā€™t take 15 minutes a person to process rentals. At 7PM - The line didnā€™t look terribly long but it barely moved after a half hour. PRO TIP: Get the priority pass! I tried to edit my rental online so I wouldnā€™t have to wait but thereā€™s no option after the fact. While waiting, I ended up signing up for the free fastbreak from the guys next-door and just went down to the ramp. Part of the problem is simply with the airport design, busloads of people get dropped off all at once. Thereā€™s no natural flow.

I would not recommend Fox Rent A Car in Phoenix. They use fast-talking, high pressure sales people (Patricia in my case) to up-sell. She highlighted 2 portions that state my total bill would be $1089.63. We were charged $1456.04, $562.33 was billed after the fact. In a 20 minute call to customer service, they are "trying" to refund the $75 detailing fee for excessive dog hair - we traveled with 4 humans, no dogs! We still have not received the final invoice as promised. Stay away.

Fox Rental car was very slow, not many cars to choose, didn't get a very nice car. Had troubles with low tire light coming on, tried to full the tires with air & still wouldn't go off, key fob battery low, dirty inside & out. The best part of Rental was the polite salesman "Yousif", helping me at the counter in PHX.

I was nervous after reading all of the reviews; however, my experience was really great! I got to the counter and there was no line, 3 available employees there to help in case of a line, and super fast service. The guy who helped me welcomed me and told me about different options I had. He didn't pressure me when I declined an upgrade or the prepaid fuel option. I was told I could choose any car within a section. There were 2 available. They do not have the newest cars necessarily; however, the one we had was clean and there were no mechanical issues. I would definitely rent here again, especially with the discounted rate compared to other rental car companies. We rented via a 3rd party website and paid upon arrival. Also, the guy who checked us out in the garage was so incredibly nice and welcoming us to Phoenix! Great customer service!

Overall a surprisingly favorable experience with Fox. There was no line at the counter as they had 3 reps working and I was seen almost immediately. They located my reservation, were not pushy about adding on any other services, and sent me to the garage to pickup. The pickup was efficient as well, they send you to sections and simply select from that section. My section only had 1 vehicle, so it wasnā€™t a difficult decision. The cars are a bit more worn, though clean. It had close to 50k miles, higher than most rentals Iā€™ve rented in the past with other companies, but I imagine itā€™s how they keep their pricing competitive. This experience may be an outlier compared to the other reviews, but I think it only fair we share the good and the bad. So Kudos to Fox, 4 stars vs 5, just because the car was older.

Rented the Toyota 4 Runner for 3.5 days. Nice car, good condition, smooth ride. Turned it back in with full tank of gas in same condition I got it (except it was a little dusty from Arizona rain and dust storms). There was a $150 deposit and I only got $90 back. WHY?! šŸ˜µā€šŸ’«. WHERE DAHELL IS THE REST OF MY MONEY!! Now I gotta argue to get my money back šŸ™„. They are cheaper than the others (they had the longest line at car rental spot in PHX because they were cheaper than the others) but this comes with a price literally. They scamming extra money from their customers. They also told me they don't take virtual credit cards but they still charged the virtual credit card I used to make the online reservation AND they charged my hard copy credit card for the extra driver and vehicle upgrade. Have a hard copy credit card ready when you pick up your vehicle. I don't suggest renting from this company unless you're prepared to lose money and have to fight to get it back. Stick with older and more established rental companies. From the reviews, this overcharging problem seems to be common.

Please donā€™t rent from them if you value your time and the safety of people traveling with you. Rented an suv in January and the tires were almost bald. I am glad didnā€™t get in accident. Last week rented a car from them. Arrived at the counter before their closing time of 1 am. There was an elderly couple in front of me. A lady was processing their rental and took a bathroom break. After she came from the bathroom trip, she looked at her watch and said ā€œoh itā€™s beyond 1 am. I canā€™t serve you. Plus there is this man behind you. If I serve you, I will have to serve him too.ā€ So she gave the elderly couple their licenses back and asked them to come back tmrw for their car. They pleaded but she didnā€™t listen. All she had to make a few clicks. I asked the lady what time they open. I was told 4 am. I was like I can wait three hours there to get my car. So I waited and surprisingly they didnā€™t open at 4. Not even at 5. Not even at 6. Somebody came at 6:30 and opened the counter and got my car. It was a nightmare waiting all night at the airport to get the car. I got the car and realized that they donā€™t even check tire pressures. The pressure light was on. All tires has 14 out of 33 psi. Nasty. Soon after I started driving, the maintenance signal came on. Guys do yourself a favor, pay a little more and be treated like people.

WOW I have never been more disappointed in a car rental service! Where to begin.... Firstly, I have never driven a vehicle in this bad of shape..... Brakes and brake pads and brakes were shot. Bearings were bad, tires need rotated, steering wheel need adjusted, and the suv wouldn't even shift into highest gear even with my foot to the floor. I was honestly scared for the life of myself and my 3 year old as we were driving through the mountains of Arizona. On top of that...... I prepaid months ahead. They did not give me the option to return the vehicle with a full tank of gas (which I thought was odd and never in all my years of travel have experienced this). They lady told me she was locking me in at a "GREAT" rate of $5.00. I did not know the local areas prices so I trusted her, come to find out, gas was on average almost 60cents cheaper everywhere. OKAY maybe that was a mistake. Then after I return I get a charge for $109. I call and have them explain and they said that you had to bring the car back on empty, which I was never told. They only told me I would be charged for the gas I used. NOT the entire tank. Then they charged me a 65% tax on top of that. And all these additional charges that I did not agree to or was told about. They also said that the car held 16 gallons which according to the car manufacturer, it only holds 15. I got a little upset on the phone and the operator hung up on me. They refused to refund me for the money and when I asked to speak to a manager they told me it would take 3 days for them to call back. I NEVER write bad reviews like this.... BUT SAVE YOURSELF THE HEADACHE AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.

I arrived to pick up my rental and was directed to the bay where there were two Mitsubishi suvs. I was told to pick one. One was so rank with cigarette odor that It was detectable eith all the windows open. The second car was completely filthy inside and out but on the drivers side the drivers airbag was exposed !! ( see photo). I sent back to the desk and was given an upgrade to a full size vehicle without any hassle. Good! I was directed to a Toyota Camry. It was a little bit cleaner on the outside.. once I got out of the garage in the light I realized windows inside and out were so filthy that visibility was not good. Once I arrived at my destination I was shocked to discover the car had not been cleaned AT ALL! I just now spent over an hour wiping it down inside with disinfectant: hand prints everywhere, trash ( including lip balm in the overhead glasses holder, and dirty Tissues in the side panels. The seats were spotted with spilled something and the back of the seats looked like kids footprints.. This is NOT acceptable during CoVid and as a heslthcafe professional, Iā€™m reporting this wherever the local Phoenix health dept directs me. THIS is not safe!! I will post photosā€¦ but if this car has received this little attention, plus the dub having the airbag exposed, I am leery of safety drinking this car, so Iā€™m posting this now as we start across the state of Arizona.. Iā€™ve rented cars the past 35 years fir business and conferences across this nation and NEVER have I had such a filthy insanitary vehicle.

My wife rented from Fox Rent A Car Phoenix a couple of weeks ago. She decided to give it a try, despite the reviews. Was the best car rental experience that she has ever had, from making the reservation online all the way through dropping the car off. The guy that was waiting for the cars was also great! She thinks that he could see that she was having a bad day and offered her an ice cold bottle of water, which was greatly appreciated. Then he found her car charging cord still left in the car and he chased her down to return it to her. We are going back to Phoenix in September and looking to rent a car with them again. We are hoping for the same great experience. :-) Thank you Fox!!!

We were nervous about renting from this company because we saw a lot of negative reviews, but it was a great experience! Check out was a breeze and the people were so friendly, our car was in beautiful condition and we when we turned it in it was a really fast process. I will definitely choose Fox again! We rented during the holidays and the rental prices at Fox were a fraction of every other rental agency - A+ to Fox for not gouging customers, providing exemplary customer service and super clean cars! The next time I need a rental car - I will choose them first.

Absolutely wonderful experience. Thanks to Juan who was extremely helpful in retrieving our reservation since our original flight was delayed making us miss our connecting flight to phoenix, therefore having to make a whole new reservation for us, he gave us a brochure, told us where to go around the area we were visiting and just overall made our day and trip so much better. Thank you Juan for the excellent customer service and rates. We will recommend this rental company to our friends and family. Also, the line was the shortest put of all of the rental companies. A nice plus after long hours of travel.

Affordable rate, nice car (4-runner), but was a well used car 70k miles lots of dings and scratchesā€¦which makes you nervous about if youā€™ll be accused of the wear, and the tires were out of balance at interstate speed. But you get what you pay for and like I said I got a good deal.

Very smooth... Phoenix Az. airport pick up was fast. The little car I rented was out, so I got a nice upgrade! The guy in the parking garage was really cool and super helpful! Drop off was fast and easy and hassle free. It was 1:30 am. These guys were still working and still awesome!

Absolutely terrible! Their computer wasn't working properly for signing the documents that were printed on a tiny screen that was unreadable. When I saw the printout, there were all kinds of extra charges that didnt make any sense. When I asked what the charges were, the woman told me that I wasnt paying for those and that there will simply be a temporary hold on my card. I had already pre-paid for the car and the insurance, so the only thing I was expecting to put on my card would be a temporary hold for incidentals. Then there was not a car reserved for me and I had to wait an extra hour for a dirty car to finally arrive from another return. There was no communication from the people inside the garage. When I would ask them when I'd get a car, they say it's coming. And I'd stand there and wait and wait. Then when I returned the car, there was nobody there to check me out and I had to wait to find someone. Then I find out that I was double charged for insurance an extra $115. I called three times about getting that refunded. They offered me a credit toward my next rental but I said no I want a refund. So they never called back and I had to call a third time a week later and then they said the manager denied your refund. So then I said, well then give me the credit you offered last week and they refused because they said I only get one option and when I said I wanted a refund, the option for a credit went away. They are the worst company. DO NOT rent from them! They were not willing to work with me on even a partial refund. They said they would rather have a negative review than make me a deal of any kind, well, here it is!

We had reserved a car for our trip in Phoenix from Fox and i was highly satisfied with the vehicle, team member and the whole process/experience!! Everything took about 15min and off we went. Beau made everything quick & easy and made sure to explain everything we needed to know, he was so friendly. The car was so clean. Would definitely rent from Fox again!

Had a great experience using Fox Car Rental. We reserved a large SUV and they had a selection of vehicles in that category. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable, and had us on our way in record time. The SUV we rented was like new, clean and performed well. Returning it was quick and easy. We'll definitely use Fox Rental again.

The Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport car rental setup is not my favorite. Once I picked up my luggage, lugged it through the airport to the car rental terminal, and thankfully was helped by an employee who happened to be catching the tram. He assisted me and others to the car rental stop, the process was easy from there. Fox Car Rental process was quick and easy. The SUV I reserved was not available, but a comparable car was available. Now that I know the process, next trip will be much easier.

Avoid and pay a little extra!!! After being unable to contact anyone on phone to let them know I was on way from baggage, they closed before I could get there. Been waiting for almost 4 hours and they are so far 15 minutes late to open. Still unable to reach anyone and my trip is several hours behind now while I wait for the car I foolishly reserved from the farce of a business.

Very easy pickup and dropoff and car was all we needed. We chose to fuel up at Costco ourselves to save a little money instead of the optional fuel up service they provided. The best part was that when we picked up our car, Budget had a line a MILE long and Fox was able to help us right away! Would definitely use them again!

The car I had pre-paid was not available so I was given a smaller car without warning, but charged the same. Also insurance was declined, but charged on the final bill and there are "no refund" on insurance once you have picked up the car. My "cheap" rental car ended up being twice the price of other big name companies in the end. Don't make the mistake of going with Fox.

Horrendous experience with fox car rental. We were already coming from a delayed flight and just wanted to get our car to get started with our vacation. Waited in line for about 45 minutes to check in for our car when none of the other rental car agencies had a line. Then when we walked down to the garage, there were no available minivans for us. We were tired and hungry looking for someone to tell us when we would get our car. The employees acted sympathetic but were completely unhelpful. They just kept saying the cars were coming soon from the wash. In fact one of the employees acted like she was helping us only to grab her stuff and leave her shift. Another group which had showed up after us was then given the first minivan which showed up. We waited probably 45 minutes to get our car. So it took us 1.5 hours total. We had to completely re-arrange our plans and missed several hours of daylight because of it, not to mention the stress. I would definitely not recommend fox, even with the savings. It's a terribly run company.

Do not rent a car from this agency. They gave me a car with gas not full. And when I returned the car with same amount of gas, they charged me 80$ more (9$ per gallon) for the gas. Luckily I had the photo of gas meter while picking up the car. I argued with them but still did not gave the refund for gas. So now I am disputing the charges with my credit card company. Also the customer service was bad. The guy who handed over me the car was super sleepy and telling me that he did 16 hours shift that day. It was really unprofessional.

I had reservation for a compact car and already paid for, when I arrived at the counter for pickup, the lady told me that there is no compact vehicle available, you have to either wait until one becomes available or upgrade for extra 20$/day. I have rented cars from many different other rental cars before, never had this experience; in fact, if rental car doesnā€™t have an available car for a reserved class, thatā€™s not my problem, they can upgrade to the available class free of charge, thatā€™s what Iā€™ve experienced before with other rental companies like Enterprise or Budget. Anyway, it was disappointing.

The process went smoothly and returning the car went smooth. The agents were very kind and knowledgeable. The only downside was we were not informed of a 400$ deposit before we picked up the car since we were using a debit card. Other than that, the experience was enjoyable and ran smoothly.

Except for finding the drop off location at Phoenix airport, our experience was pretty good! The signage was poor and we had to drive around twice to find the entrance. Also, at pick-up, I asked for my husband to be added on as a driver and because he is 6'3" the agent recommended that we upgrade to full size sedan. I agreed, but didn't realize how much more ($300+) we were going to be charged. The car itself had 70k on it, but was a good car, ran nice and had added items.

Impressively fast service. No issues with checking in, picking the car up, or returning it. Everything was very simple and speedy. They put big brands to shame in terms of customer experience. Great job everyone at Fox PHX!

Christopher was rude, pushy and straight up lied about the cost of nearby gas prices to try to get us to purchase prepaid top off upon return. The car that was given to us was not similar to a Ford Explorer like we expected: Toyota 4Runner that had no trunk, barely enough room for our 2 car seats and stroller. It also had chipped paint and dents all over the vehicle. We are also still waiting for our $150 ($150!) hold to be removed from our credit card, a week later. Will never recommend to anyone and will encourage people to actively avoid using.

Awesome experience. Great staff. Fast checkin and return. I will definitely be renting here again! My only complaint is that I rented an economy car. I wanted something small so gas didn't cost me a fortune. Well I was given a large Jeep which was a gas guzzler. It cost me more to fill it up than to rent it. I should have been told they were out and time of pick up.

Excellent service and accommodating staff. We were given an upgraded vehicle when there was a slight problem with our original rental car. My wife accidentally left her purse in the rear seat. The staff quickly found it and took it to a secure location where we collected it with all contents intact. Very Honest employees work at that location. Thank you

My rental experience with Fox was great. I appreciated the professionalism of the customer service rep and the person managing the parking lot who not only helped me with the car selection but gave me a cold water drink on that 100+ degree day in Phoenix. It was a good experience, I will rent again from Fox when in Phoenix.

I prepaid for a midsized car. There were none available when I arrived; so I was upgraded to a full-sized sedan. Imagine my delight when I rolled out with a 2023 Dodge Charger with just over 7k original miles. I really enjoyed driving the classiest newest car I'll never own!

I had rented a car at another agency that actually closed during the day and I was stranded and walked into Fox. Alexi helped me out and he was a total stud! Very kind, helpful and got me in the road quick. Awesome job!!
