Grossly incompetent service. I am on day 4 of my 10 day stay here with my husband and 1.5yr old son. Like most people, part of the reason we chose to holiday in Thailand is because of their famously exceptional service. Since our arrival everything has been too much trouble. Let me qualify that they are not understaffed, the staff are just unhelpful, at every request just saying no instead of trying to see if they can accommodate you. I could list 20 examples of this from our 4 days here. Also another reason we chose this resort was because they said they had babysitting. They do not. What they do have is someone from housekeeping who will sit in your room between 7 and 10pm only IF your baby is asleep. If they cry or wake up you need to return. The level of English is also insufficient. As a traveler I am a someone who tries my best to learn the local languages and am not someone who expects that everyone speaks English, however there needs to be the most basic level of understanding - can I get clean towels? Can I get the mini bar restocked? Is the shop closed today? — none of this was understood. This was especially problematic for the “babysitting” as we could not leave even the most basic instructions. We purchased a package through luxury escapes that included vouchers for meals and drinks each day. The drinks vouchers are virtually impossible to use - they are only valid at 1 bar (out of the approx 6) and it is only open 3 evenings a week. And you can only use one per person per day. You do the math. The dinner restaurants only open at 6.30pm, which for most is fine, for our baby is too late. This wouldn’t be a problem if the babysitting they say they offer existed, but after having to return to the room last night after half an hour. Based on our experience of competence, we won’t be giving that another chance. When we asked if we could instead use the voucher for room service (which is a significantly underwhelming and small menu with items directly from the other restaurants) as the voucher says it can be used at any restaurant we were told no. Again. This would be more disappointing if any of the food was actually good. Other than the breakfast buffet at cafe Andaman which is quite decent, the food we have eaten at bamboo bar, cafe Andaman, top of the reef and room service has all been borderline inedible. Ironically the Thai food is worse than the western food (but you can get great Thai food down the road out of the resort). When we asked to speak to the manger about our disappointment with the service, we were just given poor excuses with a rude attitude and no apology or any assistance. I had this as 2 stars until our experience with the manager. The grounds and beach are beautiful. This is what gets the 1 star! It is almost impossible to get service at the beach, you can walk to the bar and order drinks and food there. Fresh coconuts and fruit shakes were great. As mentioned before, food was terrible. In theory they have kayaks etc.. to take Out, but it took us about 45 minutes to find someone (of the probably 15 staff down there) who could actually help us, so if you’re prepared to wait there some limited options. We wanted to take our son out on one of the clear bottomed kayaks to see the fish - but after all the effort to find someone and get it down, we were told this clearly 2 person canoe could only accommodate 80kg in total. Obviously 2 adults in a healthy weight range are mostly likely combined over 80kg. We stayed in a 2 bedroom pool villa - the pool is lovely, the rooms are spacious and bright. Bathrooms are old, which is not a problem except for the rusty nails and mouldy tiles which are not safe. Overall it has been frustrating and disappointing and I would not return.

This time we are saying farewell to this so-called 'elite 5 star hotel' and keep wondering when it finally lands into a well-deserved 4 star category. Among the positives I can name nice surroundings and beautiful views of the sunrise. The territory is very green and it feels that it is being taken care of, thanks for this. The rest, everything that is done (or rather not done) by people is very poor. The hotel badly needs renovation. The staff needs training, their English is very bad, the service level is below average and the time it takes them to do things is hopeless. This was the first time in a 5 star hotel that i was told that an espresso during breakfast will be extra charged. I gave it a try and got a lousy drink for 250 baht (8 euros). Went to a 7/11 right after that and got a great hot espresso + a smile for just 30 baht. Gym - non-existent, too small for 4 adults to exercise at the same time. The equipment comes from the last century or so. Overall, the hotel is very much run down. You don't feel yourself at home here. We paid over 2000 euro for four days in a pool villa and although we enjoyed the sun and the sea, this place is definitely not the right value for money. The Management should start thinking about investing into the property and the staff. Otherwise, the guests will continue getting this feeling that they had been fooled and try to avoid the hotel. So thanks Cape Panwa, but no thanks, never again.

Literally the most disgusting and underdeveloped hotel I’ve ever stayed in. The room is so old and dirty with 30 years of establishment with no refurbishment. The breakfast is breathtakingly bad there are an ANT RAVE at the fruit area looks like they are having a time of their lives. And the server says Ice coffee costs in the breakfast buffet. Wow. The room is smelly like no one has stayed there for 10 years. and the facilities are so old that it could fall apart. They kept a SONY dvd device in the room not for aesthetics reason but for the fact that they are so old and they are so lazy to replace it. The band that was playing was also breathtaking in a literal sense. I want to hide myself in a cave when I was passing by. Also the price of the hotel PLUMMETED when we stay. We booked 2 weeks in advance with 150 dollars and then the night we look at the site it JUMPS to 80 Dollars. I thought the stock market hits 2008 again And the manager who is incompetent can do nothing about it and they insisted in charging us the third person fee when the price literally was SLAUGHTERED IN HALF. Which is still WAY MORE than what this hotel is actually worth. There’s nothing really nearby and you may just look for disaster if you want to stay with them.

We came here every year for 5 years in row starting 10 years ago. Every year there were improvements. In the last 5 years nothing has improved. I understand money is tight due to covid, so physical improvements are on hold… so I’ll forgive that the pool area and decking is in dire need of refurbishment. But there is no need to downgrade long standing facilities and services. Since our last visit these things have changed: • No longer espresso or cappuccino type coffees included with breakfast • No other tea besides builders brew • No nuts, and greatly reduced variety at breakfast. • Caters mainly for the new Chinese Market • Jacuzzi’ have been removed from Cape Suites. Though to be fair they never worked • No Coral island trips. • The entire loyalty scheme has been scrapped. So no longer any perks for staying here 63 nights. This is a real slap in the face for loyal customers, and is a punishment for not coming during covid. If you came during covid, they will offer you perks. Governments made it impossible to come, they shouldn’t punish their loyal guests because they couldn’t come. I really didn’t want my first returning visit in 5 years to be scared with ‘I’m sorry it’s no longer included’, over a green tea and then have to have an argument about it. They of course caved, but I shouldn’t have to have the argument in the first place. I’ve never been to a hotel where when you ask for something, the standard response is, it’s not included, when asking for something pretty simple, like bottled water in the room. The waiter area in the Andaman Cafe is misplaced. Because they group there and give you the cold shoulder every time you walk past, which you have no choice to do because it’s the way to the room. If you do catch their eye it’s never a friendly greeting. Probably because all the guests are miserable too. It’s a cycle of misery, and someone needs to break the cycle. Maybe the people were paying should break the cycle and stop penny pinching in what they want to be a 5 star hotel. Rather than upgrade us for our loyalty, they offered us a “50% discount” on a upgrade to only a subjectively better view only. We actually prefer the view in the room we were originally assigned. On the plus side they no longer require you to wear trousers in the Top of the Reef restaurant what has always been pretty basic at best. The music in the Andaman cafe/restaurant area is the least bit relaxing. It’s utterly obnoxious and can only be described as “jungle jazz”. This hotel was always pushing for 5 stars and only really managing 4. Whilst 5 star hotels have been increasing their offering, by making al la carts hot breakfast items a standard, Cape Panwa Hotel backtracked and greatly reduced their offering. With these changes it’s 3.5 stars at best. The beds are still huge and super comfortable. I always sleep very well here. I think the owners need to let the managers actually make changes, because your clientele is aging and dying, and with standards slipping, it’s just not good enough for the new instagram generation. Whilst other hotels fall over themselves trying to make you feel welcome and doing everything they can to make your stay pleasant, this place just makes you feel like a hinderance with their standard response to everything “it’s not included”

The hotel is located up the hill and has a shuttle bus going daily for free each 5 minutes to Cape Panwa View Point and village shops. The rooms are super clean and spacious. The food is varied and very well done. The service is quite impressive. The beach is private. The garden is of an extreme beauty. There are 2 swimming pools cleaned on a daily basis. It is a very clean and serene hotel with great facilities. I loved my stay here.

Hotel location with its private beach is great. Rooms are big and well equipped. Staff are doing their jobs, however several of them could only barely speak English or answer simple queries. Some staff were also unfriendly and clearly avoiding their guests. Staff working are the lobby were friendly and welcoming during check-in process and even took the time to show us around the property for an alternative room as we were not satisfied with one of our booked room. Breakfast buffet was alright (Typical eggs, fruits and bakery selections) without any food items elevating the experience. Only brewed coffee and tea was available for free (other specific beverages requests such as flat white, espresso and cappuccino were at extra charges). There was a free shuttle (on demand) from the hotel to go across the hill and reach the small town where shops, and restaurants were available. Overall, an OK experience (definitely not a 5stars rating IMHO) however I personally would consider staying elsewhere especially considering the price paid for 2 rooms for our 6days vacation.

Very noisy, run down hotel with bored staff and very poor service. The hotel is very run down, more like 3.5 star level. The air conditioning is as old as the hotel and makes as much noise as a tractor. There are some generators around the hotel that turn on and off day and night and they are very, very audible despite closed doors and earplugs. The staff is very bored, service seems to have been totally forgotten here, you have to run after the waitress to get coffee in the morning at breakfast. The rooms are only tidied up on a budget, soap was not refilled before you said something, water glass not rinsed, coffee and tea not refilled. The lift smells very strongly of mould and also in the room directly under the air conditioning. So nothing to do with a 5 star service. There was hammering and axing going on all the time on the beach. Prices are very high (e.g. A very small beer 5 euros +10% (inexistent) service +VAT. Hotel definitely not recommended!

I absolutely love this hotel, the bedrooms are beautiful, the food is amazing, the cocktails are YUM 🤤. Breakfast is a must at this hotel 😍. The people at this hotel are so professional, respectful and have the best customer service I have ever received by anyone. Miss Issara - Sarah I believe who is the duty manager is so kind hearted and handled many situations with myself very professional. Ann which is the customer service representative at the front lobby is absolutely beautiful and very well mannered. This place deserves more than a 5 Star. I will sure be returning to this beautiful place. Highly recommended 🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻

We had an amazing week long stay here. The staff couldn't do enough for us to make our stay more enjoyable. There were plenty of options for dining out with a great selection of choices. The drinks are quite pricey though. The on site spa was absolutely beautiful. Felt like royalty every time I visited. The private beach was stunning, but check tide times for best swimming. The pool was also nice and plenty big enough to accommodate all guests. Hotel Panwa is in a quiet location but there is a shuttle bus service that runs all day (till midnight) to the bottom of the hill. Small amount of shopping and food options down there as well. Would highly recommend for a quiet, luxury escape. I would definitely return.

Have good feelings with the room ,breakfast and the staff. Very cozy, friendly, clean and good atmosphere. Staff are very kind and helpful. But I dissupointed with the beach, is little bit of sand and only a few metre is the rock all over so you definitely can't swim in the sea. But honestly,it's my fault I should review more before book the hotel. The restaurant of the hotel, Panwa house is OK. Test good but for the price we paid it's become very expensive. So small dishes and take too long to wait for food.

Stayed in junior suite for 2 nights during last weekend. Hotel is on the other side of a very steep hill so a bit isolated and has a very nice panoramic sea view. It has 4 bars and restaurants opening so plenty of choices with reasonable price. The private beach is very lovely clean with white sands. Staffs are very friendly.

First time staying in Panwa area. Booked the cape suite room with ocean view. Room is spacious. The hotel vibe is family friendly and conservative-like. The beach here is nice and clean and water is clear, safe to swim and paddle boards available. The hotel has cable car service from lobby level to the beach. My most fav view is the restaurant with balcony, you get panorama view of the cape, ocean, breeze. BF is not up to my standard so 1 star deducted.

What an amazing stay. Had the best sleep without any disturbance in probably few months. Best views! The burger/food for in-room dining was no joke, tasty and well-cooked. The team was very efficient & hospitable throughout the stay. Thank you. See you again soon.

Nice place, felt a little dated. Didn’t have many of the advertised rentals / activities available… although they do recommend local companies offering tours, rentals, etc. I’d recommend avoiding the Top of the Reef restaurant… nice setting but that’s about it.

Just came back from a wonderful stay at the 2 bedroom pool villa 3S. Unlike what others might have said, but I couldn't really find any fault with the establishment nor the service they provide. The rooms and bathrooms are very spacious and the villa pool, oh, I just love the pool so so much. Me and the family literally spend the entire day in the pool right after breakfast. Secluded and away from prying eyes and communal crowd. Some staff are really not that well versed in English yet they try their best to try and understand you. For me, its easy to just use google translate and they will immediately try to accommodate. Rooms shouldn't use blackout curtains as it cheapens the look and facade. Other than that, a big shoutout to the housekeeping team for maintaining the cleanliness of our villa the entire time we were there. Can't wait for a longer return visit in the near future. Keep it up!

Spent several nights there. Didn’t want to go anywhere at the point when stayed there. They have everything! Lovely beach, we borrowed a small canoe and sailing to another small beach. Lay down on the beach chair and enjoyed a young coconut. Super delicious breakfast buffet, miss their espresso! Clean and big swimming pool, could be a good replacement when the sea was at a ebb in the early morning.

This place is a good 3 to 4 star hotel with many rooms overlooking a private beach with leafy surroundings. While this hotel is good, it isn’t 5 star quality and could use some modern improvements such as smart TVs and smart toilets. Some welcoming drinks at the front desk would have been appreciated in the hot weather. The breakfast buffet was of average quality.

  • 5/5 Nathan 8 months ago on Google
The staff here are amazing so friendly and always wanting to help. They were very friendly with our children which always helps us have a great holiday. The rooms were clean and well appointed. The food was overall very good especially the buffets with the additional variety. The beach is nice enough if you get it at high tide with rocks at low tide. The hotel organised activities and transport for us on fairly late notice so again that was appreciated. Overall would recommend and would stay again.

Having visited several times (gold card holders) our most recent trip in April/May23 was something of a disappointment…. I think the hotel as failed to recover fully from the setback caused by the pandemic… the place looks tired, and most of the long time staff don’t appear to be present, breakfast is chaos staff dont even offer to serve tea and coffee.. A new customer service lady name Lucy spoke to us on day 2 and appeared to understand our frustration with our experience… but she had left her job 2 days later… The bars in the hotel are expensive and hardly ever open, the shuttle service to the bay was rubbish! The room is extremely spacious and clean and is equipped well. Some senior members of staff remain exceptionally good (see photos) i hope the new staff learn quickly to avoid losing customer retention. The one outstanding and always enjoyable feature is the local band “The Panwa Trio” performed every night to their usual very high standard.

The room is big, spacious, clean and offers a very nice view. The location is within walking distance of local spaces, including food stalls, restaurants, spas, etc. One annoying thing is that when you use something from the mi I bar,it is not replaced — and then it delays check-out because for some unknown reason, it is not originally included as incidental expenses. Service is outstanding. Food is consistently decent and somewhat underwhelming. We ordered room service one night and it was more than $100 U.S. dollars — completely unforgettable food.

Decent resort but location is cumbersome. There is long steep climb from the main road to the resort entrance which makes one dependent on the hotel shuttle, which is offered free of cost. Our check in experience was harrowing as the hotel got us twin bed rooms even though we specifically booked the Superior King Bed Rooms. Eventually, superior King bed rooms were given to us but they were in a building practically cut off from the main property and surrounded by local houses with a rather disappointing view. The rooms themselves were clean and huge in size but the decor felt a little dated. We did enjoy the resort's private beach which is probably the best feature of this resort.

One of the best decision to stay here. Definitely prefer the suite upgrade for one night as normal rooms shower was a bit small. Private beach n staffs were friendly and efficient. Great dining exp at top reef too for my partners birthday they were generous with some free appetisers. The one hour free canoe was fun and love that they use glass bottles for water instead of plastic. Glass bottle ref from the day island hopping exp on the ship, that the hotel connected with was also great exp to try. With the John sea canoe team with sonny!

There is a female employee at the front desk named Pim. She has a nice smile and is very patient with the guests! In addition, the restaurant has a female employee from the Philippines who provides excellent service and takes the initiative to communicate with guests, which is great! The hotel has a beach and is very careful to indicate when it is suitable for swimming. I will stay at this hotel again next time!

We previously visited in 1996 and have always wanted to return. The location and scenery is still fantastic .. a little slice of paradise. The hotel is very much in need of attention and is not 5 star . The service was appalling and on many occasions we decided to skip a starter and desert because it was just agony waiting for the food .. waiting to pay .. trying to make eye contact or waving to get attention .. it was draining and obviously you just want to get out and enjoy the sunshine . Our room was nice but the locks on the balcony doors were eroded and would open with a good tug. We had to ring housekeeping numerous times because towels had not been left .. toilet roll not replaced etc . Some serious improvements needed at this hotel .. our second visit was our last ...

It is a beautiful hotel, great entrance, nice rooms with view over the Andaman sea. It is a large resort but at no point did it feel cramped or busy. Breakfast buffet is typical. Good but nothing exceptional, same for the restaurant in the center of the hotel. You can go down to the beach, either walk or take a short cable car. The beach is pretty nuch ecxlusive for the hotel, plenty of shade from palm trees for who wants it. Too bad there are rocks once you go into the sea. A few pools available for all guests. Overall a pleasant relaxing experience.

Resort style hotel having lots of big trees and relaxing private beach. Some facilities are a bit old and outdated. All staffs we met are supportive, friendly and really nice. I was offered with a lovely BD cake as my pre-birthday treat. Big thanks to K.Chompoo. The hotel is a bit far from local restaurants and good cafe but we can enjoy the food at hotel's restaurant named Panwa House instead. Overall are great for a good vacation.

Very cozy, privately and beach with pleasant breakfast and wide recreation area. The room was big with sea view on the mountain and full facility, just without iron. However, the entry road is very steep up and down hill, a short distance. 12 km. from Phuket city. Grab taxi and hotel transport services cost about 500 bahts one way.

True luxury in a breathtaking location We stayed in a junior suite at Cape Panwa Hotel which appears to be standard through TUI. It was stunning! The room was very spacious with a huge bed and all amenities from robes to USB sockets. The bathroom was fantastic with separate bath, shower and his/hers basins. The large balcony had a day bed and wonderful sea views. The pool is large with plenty of beds, but the beach was the place to be in the day. The tram (furnicula railway) takes you down through wonderful gardens to a stunning private beach with a bar and restaurant. The sunbeds are plentiful and well spread out amongst the palm trees, looking out across the white sandy beach to the sea. From start to finish the service was impeccable. Most of the staff were happy friendly and keen to make your stay a real pleasure. A particular call out to Sandy at the Bamboo Bar on the beach who went the extra mile every day, couldn't do enough and was so engaging. We will definitely be back!

4/5 underperforming hotel for 5 star hotel We stayed here after Thailand more or less opened after covid. There were not many guests. Hotel location: Great if you like quiet and calmness but for almost everything else you have to take a shuttle or taxi. Rooms: Ok I guess, the tv is a bit old and not much entertainment, the bed bit hard but the room is very noisy. At 09:00 almost every day they started with maintenance or gardening and it woke us up. Also, the front door did not sound insolated, every conversation in the hallway we could hear. Breakfast: Mix of western BF and Thai BF. I only need a good cup of coffee. No good coffee. No cappuccino. So for me a bit disappointing. Every day the same breakfast gets a bit repetitive. Bad coffee, we used to be expecting in Thailand, but in town everywhere you walk you see great specialized coffee places. Privat beach: beautiful also not many people, lots of beds, also the bar service better meals and drinks than the main restaurant. Swimming pool: Big, nice, lots of laying beds. To me, this hotel needs to step up. For 5 star hotel, I expected on multiple levels a bit more, that's why I give it just 3 stars. We would like to come back but it would be nice if this hotel would hit all the right service levels.

This place is great. But it isn’t 5 stars. Hence the 3 star rating. Some of the staff are excellent. Some are pointless and no good. The rooms have been recently redecorated and they look great. The rooms are large. The first room we were booked into smelt bad and the view was average Then we moved to the ocean view room (highly recommend) which was gorgeous! The outside of the hotel needs some doing up- it’s an old concrete building and isn’t very appealing. But the internal is recently done and looks great. The gym is the oldest and worst gym I’ve ever used. It rarely gets cleaned. The gym carer/worker never seems to be there or doing his job of checking in etc The beach is sometimes quiet clean and beautiful, other times rubbish gets pushed onto the shore and the water is dirty. There’s lots of plastic stuck in all the crevasses around the beach. The food is not good. Very average. Not of a high quality and the taste is just ok. The place has a tired feel about it. We stayed a long time due to being offered a great rental price for the ocean view room and the friendliness of some of the staff who were beautiful. But I don’t think I’d return otherwise and I wouldn’t pay for the full price they ask for me. The internet is excellent here. And they are very accommodating over all. It is great how they have their own private beach!
