THE GOOD -clean and spacious room -well equipped with mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker, hair dryer, iron, lots of towels -free parking -FREE breakfast (I would have been disappointed if I had paid for breakfast, it was very basic) THE BAD -pointless curtains. Black out drapes do not close (there for decorative purposes only), meaning all the other rooms across the courtyard can see into your room and you can see into theirs........ -Our room was right beside a street light, so it looked like mid day at 2 am in our room. Not exactly great for trying to sleep -garbage left in the hall for the duration of our stay -line of guest waiting to complain to front desk when we arrived (apparently lots of people had issues with their rooms) Not recommended if you like any degree of privacy or want to sleep in the dark. But rooms clean and well equipped if you can sleep with the lights on and don't mind sharing everything with the rooms across the courtyard.

The layout was good. That's the one star. The rest, the room was dirty, I took Lysol wipes to the doors, the handles, phone & remote & the wipes were brown from dirt. Had to get a cot & they didn't send a blanket with it, no extra pillows, ran out of toilette paper & had to ask for more because they don't clean rooms while you stay. They only provide 2 small bars of soap for 4 people to share and don't offer any more. The room smelled & was hot. The bathroom doors don't lock or even shut properly, the door keeps popping open when being used if you open the hall door or any other door. Bedside lamp doesn't work. No extra towels for four people, the list goes on. They had one poor woman manning the breakfast nook to serve the entire hotel because there's no buffet. I assume that's because of covid, however if they were that concerned about covid they'd clean the rooms better. Won't be coming back here

Rooms are big very nice but. It's not cleaned properly house keeping does a really poor job. And front desk does poor job the lady give the access card without activating it. Also no drinking water in the hotel there are only tab water which is not drinkable and vending machine not working well. Overall I dnt recommend it at all for the price they ask.

We’re here for Christmas, and it’s a completely pet friendly hotel! The staff are great, rooms are clean. Pet friendly rooms are larger suites, our pup was able to run around and enjoy himself without any restrictions! Would definitely stay again when visiting family in the area

My partner and I decided to make an extra day of our new years getaway. We came across this hotel on trivago and the price for the room on the site seemed like a great deal for the location. The room was nice and very spacious and much as the pictures described, however the musty moldy smell of the room was overwhelming, I made my partner go to the car and get some air freshener to make the smell less prevalent. I went to have a shower after travelling all day and it was broke and no water pressure, at best and you could have cooked shell fish with the heat. There was no ice machine which made my partner head to the nearest gas station to get ice for us as this place didn’t have an ice maker. Nice place but all in all was disappointing

We had no towels or blanket for the pull-out in our room & it was hours before staff brought any up. The shower curtain rod was broken & I had to literally tape the curtain to the rod so it didn't slip open & the bath stopper was missing. There was also a puddle of water under the bedroom vanity. To top it off, our key cards had to be reset multiple times a day. It was a dud room. After 5 days of waiting for someone to fix the shower rod they gave us a new room. This new room was worst. I was disgusted. I had to wash the bathroom floor, wipe down the TVs and bedroom doors myself as they looked like someone took food and drinks and threw them at the surfaces. The floors under & behind the couch, night tables and beds where filthy. I will NEVER recommend this hotel to anyone. I am super disappointed in the cleaning staff. Hotel management needs to step it up a few notches to make this a place more welcoming. I give it one * for cleanliness and 3 *** for staff friendliness.

I came to quality suites beginning of Sept with my family for 3 nights and thought everything was going well. However, on our last day, my aunt started to itch and thought it was just mosquito bites. As the days passed, more and more red spots or pimples appeared which then turned into very itchy and irritating skin rashes. We took her to the doctor and turned out it was the result of bed bugs. It has been 2 weeks and not only is she still struggling from them but since we were not initially aware of the bed bugs, we ended up transporting them to our home and are now dealing with the hectic procedures of cleaning everything up and spending high expenses on a pest control provider. I called the hotel to inform them of the situation and they gave me a small refund. However, I am not satisfied with it as not only it was caused us health issues and distress, we have been spending so much money on pest control services. Therefore, for the past 10 days, I have been trying to get a hold of them but every time I get someone on the line, they tell me to call back the next day or at a specific time to speak to the manager, in vain. I am very disappointed with how management handled this situation.

Absolute garbage, no air conditioning, nobody was working the front desk so there was 20 people waiting in the lobby with no service. No refunds allowed, garbage in the hallway, bedbug bites. Very literally the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. Save your time and energy and sleep in your car.

Staff is friendly, clean rooms. The blackout drapes close easily, contrary to another review. Maybe that reviewer didn't notice the 3rd set of drapes which are the blackouts? The ones that don't close are the outer decorative ones. Perfect location right beside the 401. Breakfast is typical so-so free hotel breaky but hey... it's free. Very comfy king size bed, kitchenette, suites with 'living room' and bedroom separate. Close to gas station, Tim's, shopping, and many restaurants. Much better value than extremely over priced chain hotels close by.

Deplorable experience. First when doing booking, I had a question and called the hotel. Phone was keeping transferred to the hotel operator and then the hotel manager. It took three days for someone to respond. When we got there, we noticed that the door was left partially cracked open. The Air Conditioning was not working. The room was at 27C. We asked for another room and it was even worst (31C) the AC was not working. No other rooms were available apparently. We returned to our first room. We found that a dirty A&W mug was left in the bathroom. Talking to other guest, this was a general problem on multiple rooms and according to a member of the staff, this has been going on for at least two weeks. I seen a number of guest we borrowing fans to bring in their rooms. I can understand that AC can break, but two weeks??? I do not think it is acceptable to put on the market rooms that have unserviceable AC for two weeks and charge full rate and hide it until you have checked-in in the room.

First the check in took 45 min not the employees fault she was all alone. Second we ask for sheet for the sofa bed we went out and eat and do others errands only to come back to no sheet in our room. Third our room stop working the second time we try to get in she had to come and unlock the door with a key. Battery were dead apparently. Fourth the room smelled like someone was smoking inside we went and bought febreeze to remove the smell. For the price they charge there is better option in the area.

The only problem we had was that there was no air conditioning and the two nights we were there were warm and we could have used air conditioning. We brought it their attention and they said they’d have it up and running soon and supposedly sent someone up to fix it. We left for Niagara Falls at around 9:30-10 am and didn’t come back until around 1:30am and there was still no air conditioning! We were out for about 16 hours and the A/C wasn’t on. Otherwise everything else was alright and their free breakfast was pretty basic but tasted good.

The suite was well appointed, clean, quiet & comformable. The bed, linens & pillows were wonderful. The kitchenette with mini sink was welcome. The breakfast was decent & plentiful, not elaborate, but certainly there was something for everyone. Being a weekend, it was avail til 10am. Ending at 9am on weekday seems a bit early. Staff was friendly and there seemed to be no shortage of them. Very easy access to the 401, dining and nearby things to do. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Needed to stay locally for an early morning meeting near by. Check-in was friendly and smooth. Receptionist upgraded my room saying the one I booked was smaller and I might enjoy the larger room. The hotel could use a makeover as the place feels a little tired. My room was huge with a separate bedroom. The room had a very musty smell which I managed by keeping the windows open. At first glance all seems good but the furniture is stained as is the carpeting. Despite all of this i still felt it was good value for the money. Being right next to highway made sleep a little difficult but i managed. Quality Inns have never professed to be 5 star. This hotel is a good alternative if you are looking for a good 3 star hotel

Checked in, didn’t have proper accommodations that we had been promised because they overbooked gave us blankets to sleep on the floor had no choice, but to do this, because there were no other hotels in Whitby my husband is disabled, and had to go for therapy early in the morning choice hotels made a very stressful situation even worse and to top it all off the room was dirty and the floor that they had to sleep on was disgusting called the one 800 number. They said that the hotel would give us a cot didn’t tell us till 1030 at night that we couldn’t get a cot so below is a picture of the disgusting Floor that we were forced to sleep on.

Overall, the stay was okay for 1 night. The hotel looks a little older and worn out. The lobby was very modern. Though the lobby looked recently renovated, the rest of the hotel (hallways and rooms) were super dated and dark. This hotel will need some renovations soon. It would have been nice if there was more lighting. The furniture in the guest room is also very old. The actual guest room is way darker than shown in the photos. The guest room was relatively clean, but I found some stains on the wall that either looked like blood, coke, or coffee stains. The chair also had some dry paint on it. The bed was very comfortable and clean. The bathroom was a little small, but it was also clean. Outside one of the side doors, I saw some brick pieces that broke off of the exterior wall. The hotel just needs a better upkeep. The location is pretty good. It is very convenient for travelers since it is right off the highway. There are also quite a few restaurants nearby! I would recommend this hotel for a shorter stay rather than a long stay.

My stay itself was great although we had no power for 2 nights due to a severe storm. However, I was told my stay would be fully reimbursed. It is now 3 weeks later and I haven't received my refund nor has the hotel contacted me. I called them and was told I received a discount, but I was downsized from a 3-bed suite to a 2-bed suite so of course I would have paid less. I am very disappointed as we have always loved this hotel and stay there everytime we visit family in the area.

The head of housekeeping, Keith, checked us in the first night and gave us a lovely initial experience. I am grateful for the wonderful check in experience. Other staff I’d like to highlight include Cassidy, the desk manager, and Jess and Lori from housekeeping. I would like to celebrate Carlyn for her patience and outstanding service. Many of the experiences that made my stay a struggle were not the staff’s doing as they are not responsible for the behavior of other guests, however, I appreciate all efforts to make the situation right. A strange incident occurred while I was in the shower and the other guest I was staying with was outside the hotel. While the hotel offered to switch us to a different room, this would not resolve the issue of someone removing our Do Not Disturb sign and moving it to elsewhere inside of the room. Additionally, personal items around the room were moved and receipts were moved from my wallet/purse to elsewhere in the room. I heard the door open and shut while I was in the shower and it was not the person staying with me. The locks on the doors are out of date with known security vulnerabilities. Without cameras inside the interior of the building it is not possible to hold guests responsible and provides a major hole in the hotel's security system. Until security and safety improve, I would not stay here with children for their safety. I'd like to reiterate, should anything happen to your child inside this hotel, there are no internal security cameras. This means any police investigations would be hindered by the lack of security at this facility. Additional concerns about this hotel include the breakfast, which, while sufficient, lacks proper allergen labeling, making it poorly accessible for those with food allergy, special diet, and sensitivity concerns. One staff member (Lori) was very helpful in identifying the type of sausage, however, one would need to ask to receive this information. This facility is not accessible at all entrances, making it difficult for anyone with mobility concerns. This could be improved with an additional ramp at one of the many entrances. The ventilation in the building is very poor and I ended up being kept awake wheezing due to some allergen in the room. I wish all employees here the best and hope that they improve everything about this hotel (housekeeping + maintenance = you're stellar!). Jess in housekeeping was particularly wonderful in providing us with fresh towels, including an additional set we used for drying dishes. The neighboring room turned on their bathroom fan and left it on all night, preventing sleep (even with ear plugs). It seems this hotel has problems with rude and inconsiderate guests, which is not their fault. The staff have been extremely kind, patient, and helpful while dealing with individuals who would take advantage of their facilities and cause harm.

I stayed there a few years ago and thought it was nice. Then when I started to work there as a housekeeper, I saw the truth. Housekeepers are treated poorly, and deal with so much. I develop a back problem from working there. The housekeepers work harder then any other employee there. They have to clean 13 rooms a day. Sometimes more if the hotel is completely booked, and they need the rooms. I give the housekeepers a 10/10 for hard work and service. Place itself is 2/5.

Me and my girlfriend spent a week here, and it was nothing but problems we couldn't get them to clean our room we did it ourselves, the sheets had stains on them and we had to do our own changing of the sheets. Also they had us checking it one day before we paid for so they screwed up there again I don't think I'd go back.

Terrible stay. The beds were uncomfortable and the bathrooms were not clean. Was going to stay here for two nights but couldn't imagine staying after the first night. I tried to get a refund from the hotel but they scammed me out of my money saying they would return it in 2 weeks. After two weeks, I would call and they would keep making excuses for not paying me the money. In the end, I never got my money back. Horrible customer service.

Been here before.. room was fine...good parking...always a nice stay, but I asked for a late checkout and was only given until noon and then 50 dollars an hour after that...just wanted to stay until 2pm but was told no. I understand if itcwas a long weekend in July...but January? Hotel was half full..wont be back

Room clearly had not been cleaned properly. Old musty smell. TV has hand and finger prints all over the screen. I asked the front desk for towels. 2 towels for 3 people won't work. But... they actually ran out of towels in the entire hotel? Seriously on a long weekend...how do you run out of towels? They get one star for hard bed.

The clock was set a number of hours off. The housekeeping folks should have picked up on this. The windows were open end of February, HELLO??!! There was no heat in the room the first night and my wife had to sleep in her clothes. Something wrong with the thermostat! I informed the front desk next morning, let's hope it's been addressed for night 2!

Reservations for May long weekend. Arrived during power outage. Booked rooms were not available. Was told we would be moved when power came on. Had two rooms booked for two nights. A third room for one night. One room was Smokey and this was the substitute room. Power never came on and we were checked out the following day yet only refunded 25%. The same for the third room where members of our party were never checked in due to power outage and hotel checking out all guests. General manager Lee stated he would advocate to Expedia for a refund that he never did. Paying 75% of something would indicate we received something? No power, no shower, no internet, no breakfast. This hotel does not represent the interests of its guests what so ever. Lee had the opportunity to keep 12 guests and past customers but failed miserably. I will not stay at this hotel again nor recommend it to anyone. I will spread the word that Quality Suites Whitby does not have the best interests of its guests in mind.

I have to say that I really enjoyed our stay there in late October. One person that I want to specially thank it Darlene Peters. This lady is a walking angel. When my wife and I stayed there, we forgot my wife’s walking stick, Darlene came back to the hotel after her shift and lent my wife a cane to be able get around. If this awesome angel is an indication of the lifestyle of the population of Whitby; I think we have start considering the move to there. Anyhow, hotel was very clean and the suites roomy. Thanks again for the great stay.

We had the pleasure of staying at this hotel for almost 2 weeks. Let me start by saying we were worried as the reviews here were mixed. The staff were overly helpful. The room was clean and very large. (We were in a King Suite) The bed was more comfortable than our bed at home. I have no problem recommending this hotel and will stay there again.

While making a reservation I explained that I don't have a credit card or photo ID. Front desk said Visa debit would be fine. After arriving the clerk acted surprised that I had no photo ID and refused to let my son and I stay. Best Western down the street was MUCH more accomodating and we're currently enjoying THEIR hospitality instead. Poor customer service!!
