Lovely local historical home. Worth a visit. The staff are great and knowledgeable. This house used to be at the old Cullin Gardens many years ago.

This is a gorgeous Georgian Home and Museum right in the heart of Whitby. Many people may remember this house from its days at Cullen Gardens. The Home was originally built by one of Whitby's early settlers, Jabez Lynde between 1811-1813. Jabez lived there with his wife Clarissa and their children. The house has been lovingly restored to how it would have looked in about the 1850's. The Whitby Historical Society have done an outstanding job interpreting the very exciting story of the Lynde family and other early settlers in the area. The house itself features several original pieces for the Lynde family as well as collections donated to the society over the years. The result is amazing. 8 rooms inside the house are decorated with many rare and historical artifact and treasures. Each Christmas and during select special events, the house comes alive with Historical Interpreters depicting what life would have been like for the Lynde Family and others during both the Georgian and Victorian Era's In addition to this, The Whitby Historical Society has also opened a lovely store called the Warren General Store named after a member of the Lynde Family. Inside they have numerous different Victorian-Inspired gifts and Artistic works for sales. All the staff and volunteers are all very friendly, helpful and professional and I love going to see the museum every few months as they continue to uncover stories of the Lynde families past which have allowed the museum to grow and prosper. This is a must-see attraction the next time you are in Whitby. I highly recommend going to check it out. You won't be disappointed!!!

I traveled from Belleville to take part in an evening of making stepping stones. It was wonderful. The people running it were so sweet, and patient.

I'm actually friends with a Lynde, His currently my best mate that the school I'm attending, Though his last name has now changed as it was his mum who was a Lynde. It amazed me to find out that he had a museum. I'm definitely going.

Great tour, lots of interesting facts. Interesting that Whitby had an important history in the shaping of Ontario. It's a shame that more historical houses weren't preserved.

Haven't visited the museum yet because of covid. But the warren general store is full of great gifts made by local artists. Bought 2 original necklaces today for family.

A truly must see for anyone interested in Whitby's history. I have visited the museum a few times since it opened and last week brought family members who were visiting from out of province. We had a wonderful experience and a very knowledgeable guide who explained what life was like for the Lynde family in the early 17th century.

Be sure to show up if you want a trip down memory lane. The venue here truly made my week. Full of excitement especially witnessing the soldiers. They were dressed old fashioned just like in the past. Truly made my family happy taking a few pictures with them. Along with that the boutique was full of amazing gifts. It definitely brought a hint of Canadian heritage. Can't believe a battle occured in this very city.
