This
is
a
gorgeous
Georgian
Home
and
Museum
right
in
the
heart
of
Whitby.
Many
people
may
remember
this
house
from
its
days
at
Cullen
Gardens.
The
Home
was
originally
built
by
one
of
Whitby's
early
settlers,
Jabez
Lynde
between
1811-1813.
Jabez
lived
there
with
his
wife
Clarissa
and
their
children.
The
house
has
been
lovingly
restored
to
how
it
would
have
looked
in
about
the
1850's.
The
Whitby
Historical
Society
have
done
an
outstanding
job
interpreting
the
very
exciting
story
of
the
Lynde
family
and
other
early
settlers
in
the
area.
The
house
itself
features
several
original
pieces
for
the
Lynde
family
as
well
as
collections
donated
to
the
society
over
the
years.
The
result
is
amazing.
8
rooms
inside
the
house
are
decorated
with
many
rare
and
historical
artifact
and
treasures.
Each
Christmas
and
during
select
special
events,
the
house
comes
alive
with
Historical
Interpreters
depicting
what
life
would
have
been
like
for
the
Lynde
Family
and
others
during
both
the
Georgian
and
Victorian
Era's
In
addition
to
this,
The
Whitby
Historical
Society
has
also
opened
a
lovely
store
called
the
Warren
General
Store
named
after
a
member
of
the
Lynde
Family.
Inside
they
have
numerous
different
Victorian-Inspired
gifts
and
Artistic
works
for
sales.
All
the
staff
and
volunteers
are
all
very
friendly,
helpful
and
professional
and
I
love
going
to
see
the
museum
every
few
months
as
they
continue
to
uncover
stories
of
the
Lynde
families
past
which
have
allowed
the
museum
to
grow
and
prosper.
This
is
a
must-see
attraction
the
next
time
you
are
in
Whitby.
I
highly
recommend
going
to
check
it
out.
You
won't
be
disappointed!!!
