Front desk lady was very unprofessional, rude and Racist. She was straight up telling her manager Sonia NO to direct orders. She ended up denying us service after we had already pre booked the room online(already paid for)and went in the back and didn't come out. Head manager Ravi Soni and Sonia were no help and Sonia ended up telling me it's not her problem and blocked my number. As someone who is a loyal Marriott customer this was by far the worst experience

Poor service at the front desk, rude reception upon arrival and not very accommodating. Lock on the room door was broken, which made the room feel less safe. Have been loyal Marriott customers for years all around the world, unfortunately the service at this location falls very short of expectations.

Absolutely ridiculous. We just wanted a cup of water. We went down to the front desk and Syed who was working there was super rude to us. He told us to use the water fountains witch were beyond gross. We saw a jug of water in the breakfast place and asked if we could have some water and he was so rude and wouldn’t give us one cup of WATER. We also found in our room a earwig crawling on the floor. Super gross too. Breakfast was good. Other that breakfast, definitely wouldn’t stay here again.

I unfortunately had a terrible stay here. There were little flies in my room for the entire stay that were not addressed by management... they just shrugged and said sorry to hear that. room cleaning was only if you stayed for over three days which may explain the bugs.... when i ate at the breakfast bar, i had stomach issues within 30 mins every morning, which disappeared as soon as i stopped eating there There was a fire alarm that disrupted the stay when every one had to vacate their room because another guest had a fire. I brought an air purifier but rooms were stuffy and dirty.

Impeccable Front Office Staff: I have recommended this property to many of my friends and family members. My kids and I just stayed at this very convenient location for Spring Break, March 15-23 and I must compliment the wonderful service and treatment we received from the Front Desk staff and manager. I have worked at a 5-star hotel and resort before, so I am very equipped in recognizing impeccable service when extended to me by various hotel staff members. Special thanks to Front Desk staff, Shrinidhi....always so knowledgeable on hotel services and following through on our requests. Additionally, I would like to salute Front Office Manager, Ravi Soni, who made sure my request for an upgrade was fulfilled. He made sure my family and I received a smooth transition to another room in order for us to be comfortable. Impeccable Front Office staff. I would definitely recommend this hotel and not only for the beautiful rooms but the great service from the Front Desk staff. The kitchen staff were very polite and it felt they were happy to take care of our breakfast needs. Thank you so much to everyone, we plan on returning this hotel.

Long term stay specialists. Beautiful one and two bedroom suites with nice furniture, all amenities required for a longer stay. Wonderful breakfast room, nice pool, good parking. Short walk or drive to restaurants and shopping. Pet friendly rooms. Fully accessible for all travellers.

Was having renovations on our home and needed a spot close to home to stay with our family pet. Front desk was amazing, very accommodating and helpful. Clean well appointed rooms with modest but pleasing furniture and a desk that was great to work at facing the front garden. The front desk was able to accommodate my last minute request to check in early, thank you for that. The included breakfast was very satisfying, the eggs were fresh, the coffee good, and everything well stocked. I have traveled a bit and what I most appreciate is not over the top fancy, but clean, and a breakfast included that looks fresh. It’s always nice to also have a kitchenette or kettle/coffee maker and toaster to make a snack. This hotel ticks all my boxes and a very comfortable bed too. PS. Sorry to any residents on the main floor that my dog barked twice at 7:30 am when I took him out for his morning walk, he was so comfortable he thought he owned the place!! PSS There were signs posted to remind dog owners to pick up after their pet. Kudos to the hotel for accommodating pets and to anyone who needs to be reminded - really? Don’t own a dog if you don’t want to do this, you create a bad name for all the rest of us. It’s your responsibility period!!

We got a one bedroom suite which is spacious with two TVs. The bed in the bedroom is very comfortable but the sofa bed is not so much. We ended up just sleeping on the sofa, didn't pull the bed out. Swimming pool was very clean and there is a small hot tube as well. You have to ask for the towels from the front desk. Gym is tiny but okay. Free breakfast is the highlight. The staff was doing a fantastic job. They attended to everyone's need and kept the stations super neat. There were pancake, pork and turkey sausage, bagels, toasts, make your own waffle, cereals, yogurt, oatmeal, juice, coffee, tea, fruits, muffins. We had a great time at this hotel for the short stay. Location is just off 401 very convenient. Everything is nearby. Canadian tire and Tim Horton across the street.

I got a flat tire on the highway late at night with my dog in the car. I called at roughly 12:30 AM and the night manager was absolutley wonderful. She set me up with a ground floor room quickly and efficiently. The tire repair the next day took at bit of time, and even though the hotel was booked for the weekend, I was allowed a later checkout. The suite was large, clean and very comfortable. It is also very quiet - my dog hardly noticed there were other people in the building! The bed was extremely comfortable and the updated washroom was delightful. My experience was 10 out of 10!!

Will not return. Go somewhere else. Dingy and dirty. We were greeted by used towels and a clear plastic bag of food garbage on the floor in the hotel hallway. Bad, dirty smell in the lobby, common areas and in the room. Dingy, dirty, dark room with cigarette burns in carpet, food stains on sofa, missing faceplates on the lightswitches, and broken toilet paper holder so they hang the roll vertically on one end of the jagged broken holder, and mold in the shower. Extremely neglected hotel. We took one look at the room and we wanted to leave immediately for fear of bugs and things we could not see right away. We told the front desk we were leaving and the rude woman at the desk said we would not be charged. Checked into the Holiday Inn Express next door and it was a clean and comfortable. The following morning we returned to the Residence Inn by Marriott Whitby to ensure we were not charged for the night we did not stay. We were told that we would have to pay for the night whether we stayed or not. After a lengthy debate with the front desk clerk, a woman in the back office agreed to call the hotel owner. She gave us a receipt showing the room charge and a refund for the room charge. As of today, the room charge was posted but no refund yet. This location does not meet Marriott standards.

We came with a wedding party and our first room had no Air conditioning. There were lights that didn't work and the door didn't close.. The room also smelt Like it used to be a smoking room in a wing of smoking rooms.. The smell was absolutely putrid. We couldn't escape it, until they finally moved us to a new room (after several tries). No apology form the front desk attendant. To top it all off, it was robbed at gunpoint on the first night, and someone lit a fire on the second floor. Super sweet All in all 5/5 would recommend.

They claim 3 star but really it's a 2 star due to lacking maintenance and old basic materials. Bed is decent. TV was super slow and cut for buffering, free wifi was decent at just under 10 Mbps. Doors were coming off hinges, kitchen appliances were 20 years old. The room was not sound proof at the front door at all, I could hear talking in the hallway as if they were beside me. Breakfast was decent and kitchen/front desk service was attentive. Suite was clean.

My stay at Residence Inn by Marriott in Whitby was comfortable, with a cozy room. However, the second-floor lobby had a strong food aroma that could be overwhelming and cause headaches. Additionally, the inconvenience of having the ice dispenser on the lower level, requiring the room key for access, was a drawback. The receptionist's demeanor was not particularly friendly, impacting the overall experience.

The staff were friendly and extremely professional. The room was clean, everything in its place top drawer appearance… The only bummer, literally lol…. is the cheap grade toilet paper… One grade above tissue paper… And the next female gripe… Would be a good make up mirror… Enjoyed the pool, hot tub,- clean, smelled, clean, looked clean… One random downside. I am here in December… there’s ants all along hot tub and pool side…. Abundant and thriving. Another minor gripe … the breakfast Buffet… Definitely thought they could’ve taken a step above what they were presenting… It looks sad prefab… Underwhelming, extremely flavourless bland… No fresh fruit other than a sad, petrified, fruit salad (overly ripe wilted grapes/white under ripe strawberries ) that had been good about four days prior… Thank God for yogurt… Everything looked stale… The hot trays of eggs , sausage, etc…extremely sad, flavourless… As I said, no fresh fruit, no packs of oatmeal… They had some oatmeal cooking in a crockpot type thing… No need to elaborate there…mehhh. but again, these are minor gripes… I would come back…

We stayed there for two nights. Such a clean and hygienic place for staying. There staff is also very nice and caring like the person working at the cleaning of common areas ,he solved all of our queries related to the place and gave us extra cups for coffee as there were none in the breakfast area.

Great rooms, continental breakfast was better than most other hotels. Staff was friendly. There are 2 BBQs in a nice sized outdoor area.

This is the best hotel in Whitby. The only thing I would dislike about it is that the daily breakfast closes way too early (9:30AM), the Shower Doors are made of glass (So anybody can see you showering), and The TV is very hard to control. Besides that the hotel is amazing. This would be the hotel you need.

We stayed here for one night. Kids loved the heated pool, and our room was right-sized for our 5-person family. The room had a fridge, stove, microwave, a tiny dinette, pots/pans and even cutleries, and the hotel is close to some grocery stores. Lost one star as no one really answers when we call the front desk. When they did answer, they made us go there to pick up what we needed.

Room was spacious. Staff were very friendly. The bathroom was a bit dirty. Love the kitchen. Breakfast was horrible, not alot of selection.

The reception, common areas and rooms are dated, messy, and dirty. The staff was unable, and uninterested in addressing anything, besides cancelling my reservation at my request as I refused to check in. If I were filming an episode of COPS, this might be a reasonable location to stay — beyond this, I couldn’t imagine staying here of my own choice. 😱

Dirty hotel. The counters are were so sticky and had a film of dirt on them. The couch looks like a dead body rotted on it. And not to mention the staff are price gouging trying to charge hundreds of dollars for a meeting room because the hotel is booked up. They have closed off the hotel lobby so no one has a place to sit. When asked if we could have more towels the staff acted like we were inconveniencing them to even ask. Would never come back even if they paid me.

The staff have clearly worked very hard to improve this place. The young lady at the front desk is friendly and professional. It would be nice to get a self serve tea after 8 but their liquor licence evidently prohibits that.

Clean and the beds are comfortable. But for me the most important part was the real dishes at breakfast and the food. I have stayed at so many where it is all prepackaged and garbage filled. This place is any but that. The waffle maker, real cups, good coffee. I plan to stay here anytime I have things to do in Toronto.

This was a last-minute booking, and I could not be happier. The location was absolutely perfect. The breakfast was great. I will be coming back to the Marriott every time I come into the area!

Clean and courteous service. There was a group of sports teams there so the pool and breakfast was pack but not warranted for a deduction in stars- that is something the organizers needs to do to lay down the rules to not disturb the other guests. Other than that, our stay was great as the staff did try to accommodate. The hot breakfast was ok and a bit tight to maneuver around, if I may suggest changing the layout to accommodate more guests passing through. Despite the challenges, I still give this review a five-star as the staff did their best to make the stay as comfortable as possible.

Bed bug hotel!!!! Did anyone ever wonder why they renovate more often than other hotels? This is a major issue in Whitby/Oshawa hotel. I left with bites all over, and they denied it. It takes about 24 hrs to appear. The staff will literally do nothing for you when you complain, and even show the marks. Stay away from all hotels off the highway. Gross.

The smell of curry stayed in the room the whole weekend. Gross! Management tried a machine that smelled like "lightning".. that was funny, but didn't work. They didn't do a thing to help with price, even though they said they would!!! Will never go there again

My wife booked a 2-bedroom and 2-bathroom suite for a tournaments weekend. Close to all amenities including arena, restaurants and activities (SkyZone Trampoline Park, Playdium, Landmark Cinemas, Hockey Life) as well as both the 401 and 412. Full kitchen allowed us to eat breakfasts and lunches in our room with ease. I would stay here again should a tournament beckon us.

Honest review if you plan on coming: >Very clean rooms >Rooms are updated (in a fashion that's not extremely high end, it's not a 4 star hotel, but it's clean and very comfortable, and not grimy)The rooms I was told were updated in 2021. >The lobby could use a refresh, but it's clean. >Breakfast is not fancy, but it's good, and it's great for taking up to your room, and enough to have a breakfast and mid morning snack. Beds are comfortable > TV ALLOWS STRAMING DEVICES (you have to plug your HDMI into the box in the wall, and on the TV menu go to streaming, and there is an option for HDMI) >internet is ok, if you have a phone plan with data you can hotspot you might need that for work/school >there are efficient amounts of parking available, if you have a room key you can enter in through the nearest stairwell if you park out back >does it smell - no except around dinner people are cooking dinner and smell travels, so I suggest keeping stove fan on and I turned heat down for a bit to stop the smell from spreading. Usually doesn't last long > food. Across the street from many fast food places and down the street from many fast casual places

Enjoyed the stay, lovely staff. Rooms are amazing, best service you can get in the 50 kms radius. Would recommend 100%

Shared the room with another wheelchair user. Room wasn't accessible. Pull out cot was too low. Bed, too high. Couldn't use the shower at all. The doors are too heavy. No reason for carpet through the halls. The staff were pleasant & it was VERY close to where I needed to be, or I would have rated it only 2 stars.

WARNING: elevators are likely to be down for a while. Check before you book! We were pleasantly surprised with our suite and the indoor pool area is one of the cleanest, well ventilated indoor pools areas I've been in a while, altho the jacuzzi jets didn't work. Our room seemed to have been fairly recently updated. The walk-in shower was great. Although it was quite warm in the hallway, we were able to adjust the AC in our room and lt cooled off very quickly. Beyond the hotels control, the was an incident in the middle of the night resulting in an arrest and both elevators being out of service the following morning (both electrical panels gutted). Hopefully they get them up and running soon. This is a decent place for a stop along the 401 if you need to.

This hotel is not only worth 5 stars. It should be worth all the stars that shine bright in the night. The Supervisor Ravi who has never missed saying hi! Its all I need. This hotel has good food too. Not the lazy breakfast you see on most of the hotels. Thank you.

Very nice people at the front desk. All other hotels were rude on the phone but the person on the phone was very friendly and set me up with a room. Upgraded my room at no extra charge. The room was great !!! Coffee was very good and the breakfast was good as well.

Rented a two room suite. Not ready by check in forced to take a one bedroom suite. When checking out the staff charged us twice for the double room on our visa. The HVAC system in the room needed to be cleaned instant respertory irritation, kids coughing all night. Toilet seat not cleaned god knows what else. Elevator out of service Etc etc. The hotel could be a nice place but the service staff and management are so bad. I think it's apathy apart from the double billing seems fishy, because while we were checking out it happened to three other guests. Avoid this place until it's under new management!!!! The eggs in the breakfast are very good.

The rooms were beautiful, super clean, fancy, very comfortable. There was a full kitchen in my room. They allow pets as well as long as you pay the cleaning fee, I believe it is a $75 flat rate for the stay. I stayed here during the middle of the covid19 pandemic so they were not serving breakfast and all amenities were closed. They did offer some take-out breakfast items though such as fruit that you could grab and go with at least. The hotel was also under major renovations in the front lobby, hallway, etc. when I stayed here. A frustrating problem I faced is that the front desk staff kept contacting me wanting access to my room during the day to do unnecessary renovations. I didn't understand why they couldn't wait a few days until I had checked out to do things such as change door handles to their new ones they had purchased. They wanted me to lock my cats in the bathroom while I was at work (for my 12 hour shifts) in order to allow them to do these unnecessary renovations on my room. I ended up leaving a note on my door pleading with them to not enter my room and saying I can't lock my cats up while I'm at work for them to do the unnecessary renovations. Had they not been extremely pushy and inconsiderate about wanting to renovate my room while I was staying in it then I would have given a 5 star review based on the hotel itself being so clean and beautiful.

Walked the entire building and no ice machines, very odd and waste of time. Tiny gym with 2 treadmills, one broken with no sign. Covid safety signs everywhere and no cleaning supplies in the gym!! Not allowed to socialize in lobby seating area. So then what happens parents hang in hallways and rooms making noise. Give people a place to hang out, they are staying overnight. Room was nice.

The room was spacious and clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was basic but convenient. I would consider the Residence Inn for another visit.

This hotel was awesome! very clean and modern, the one bedroom suite is great value. We used the pool and hot tub thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Good location for attractions, multiple choices for dinner options. Quite frankly I don't understand the people who rate this hotel a 1 or 2,

This hotel is decent. Rooms are a little out dated but lots of amenities. Kitchen, separate bedroom from living-room etc. Stayed here for multiple weeks on end for a business trip. Bed is comfortable and TV in the living room as well as bedroom is a good size. It has Netflix, chrome cast etc. It’s not a super fancy place but it’s clean, comfortable and quiet. I probably wouldn’t take the wife here for a getaway but… for business trips or just a place off the highway to stop for the night it’s fine.

  • 1/5 A S. 1 year ago on Google
Room has a smell that won’t go away and needs updates. Rooms are small and really only ideal for 2 people not families. No ice machines available. Wrongfully accused children of stealing and detained them at the front desk. Lobby is closed off supposedly at 7pm to prepare for breakfast in the morning. However, today (11/26/22) it has been closed all day and no one is permitted to sit in this common area. Instead guests are left to gather in hallways or the small rooms, thus creating a noise disturbance unnecessarily. Instead they charge $200+ for a room that holds 20 people and must exit by 10pm. Not friendly for groups or children and therefore do not recommend.

  • 4/5 Aaron D. 1 year ago on Google
The hotel is clean and rather modern, with a convenient location right off the 401. The hardest part to get here is a left turn into the driveway across a road that can be fairly busy, with no lights. The staff was very courteous, greeted me as I walked in, and efficiently checked me in while being friendly.
