Once a miniature park now a public park. The miniature park from memory two decades ago was remarkable. The park nowadays is beautiful. After a light snow, the sky was blue. The temperature was low, the place was not busy, even on a Saturday. The trail along the creek was short. Ample parkings.

A great public park in Whitby, built on the site of the Historic private attract Cullen Gardens and minature village. There's a bronze statue in his remembrance. The modern park has walking trails around the location of the previous gardens, bocce ball and Pickleball courts. There's a covered eating area with picnic tables, closed during the Covid 19 era. Parking access is off Taunton road. There's a paved connection trail to the Heber Downs conservation area which is a great walk through a peaceful woods, Particularly colorful in the fall.

A shame that this place closed nearly 20 years ago now. Thankfully the paths and structures are still in tact. It is regularly maintained and most paths are relatively clear. There are washrooms but are closed - I’m guessing it’s because of winter. The Wounded Warriors plaza is very nice and has a little maze thing on the tiles so you can read all the stone plaques. Didn’t notice until I was in there. There is still plenty of parking, an actual lawn bowling type thing, a picker all court and the old mini putt course in the actual Gardens is mostly in tact. There’s plenty of leaves on it but if you wanted to clean it up you could still have some fun with it

They have beautiful pickleball courts (outdoors). This is also a nice park in general with lots of grassy and treed areas. However, in autumn 2020 they were building something huge near the entrance to the park; apparently, it will be a spa. Fine when it's finished but noisy during construction.

Although a large spa is being built on the doorstep and townhouses on the west of this park it is still well maintained, quiet and ready for a visit. I noticed that the mini put could use a good cleaning out and a bit of love but that's the golfer in me. If you're looking for some nice trails this is a nice location.

Great place to walk the dog because cuts paved so you don't have to worry about being muddy.. free parking as well. Also beautiful flowers and trees with a covered bridge!

It was such a serine place with many walking trails. The sound of the river was refreshing. Most important it was great to know the historical importance of the spot. A great place to walk around and should be nice place for picnic during summer

This park is not exactly where Google Maps says it is. Or rather, lots has changed since that marker was put up. Behind Thermea is essentially where it is, and it’s massive. Lots of beautiful walks etc. Also there is a soccer field which I didn’t know existed until my daughter had a soccer game scheduled there the other day. It’s not marked on the map at all so I had trouble finding it at first. It’s almost totally hidden, enclosed on three sides by tall trees/bush land. You can see it from the first and original car park for Cullen Gardens, right behind Thermea, but the soccer field has a closer car park which can be accessed by just continuing along Cochrane St, past that first car park, following the road around the bend and the second closer car park is on your right, opposite some newly built houses. You can’t see the field from the car park though, it’s on the other side of two high lots of trees with a walking path between. Lovely field, but lots of bugs so bring spray!

It’s changed a lot over the years. Gone is the miniature village replaced with a public park. The path upgrades they’ve recently done making the connection between Heber Downs and Cullen Gardens easier to navigate is a great upgrade. Overall if you want a fun family friendly walk with paved paths this is a great place to visit.

Really nice park with ping pong tables, a small labyrinth garden, and bridges on a trail that connects with the Herbert Down Conservation Area. The parking lot is a bit rough as they're doing construction work right next to it, and the trails are mostly paved with a few rough patches... nonetheless a stroller/wheelchair would be manageable in the first portion of the park.

I didn't really go the the actual park itself. Instead, on Sunday, September 10th, 2023, I did a 5km walk for Distress Center Durham/Lakeridge Health Suicide Awareness Pevention Day (which just so happens to be on World Suicide Awarensess Prevention Day this year). The walk was on the old Heyden Shores path. I loved it, especially being able to walk through a forest during part of the walk, as it felt like I had suddenly traveled somewhere far away from all the urban living, even if we were still in an urban town. It made the walk even more special to hear nothing but shoes walking the path and leaves going with the small winds we had. It was also really nice to be able to get one of the shirts from them after Durham Mental Health Services donated $60 for me, and I added on the additional $40 (there was something odd going on when my mother was trying to donate the $40, so we've agreed she'll give me that back). For me, not only was this walk special as I am a mutli-suicide-attempt survivor, but I also did the walk in memory of a friend I lost several years ago after she jumped in front of a GO train (you will forever be in my heart ❤️ hun. Miss you lots). I'm also very proud of myself for doing the entire 5k's as I've been having issues with my knees and ankles almost daily for weeks now. As for Cullen Park itself... I took a quick glance from the highest point of the park, and it looks amazing. I'm hoping to travel the area between now and the first snowfall this year.

Love visiting this park, it's located right beside a spa but it is well worth the visit for a walk. You can also see the memorial area they have, which is quite beautiful.

A hidden gem in plain sight, excellent for outdoor activities, and a safe and tranquil place for kids to run around

Very beautiful park in the city. Until you get inside here you don’t know how much beauty this place has to offer. Looks like some far away woods. The entrance to the park is a bit tricky because of the construction going on for Nordic spa. Once you get inside there is nice big parking lot and picnic areas. Fall colours can already be seen here. Overall very beautiful park in town. Can keep going again and again

Beautiful natural space. I used to take my children there 25 years ago when it was a family attraction. Its been closed for about 20 years but still used by people for nature walks etc. Theres also a Warrior's area dedicated to our fallen Canadian Heros. We did a family photo shoot there along with many other people as well. They are building subdivisions around this space I hope they save some of this historical beautiful area as many people love going there. The Fall colors were perfect for our photos, it couldn't have been a better day....

Love this park, lots to walk. And if you're like me, you'd love to look at all these new homes built and being built that I cannot afford lol

It is a park with great potential. It's a lovely walk, but I would love to see more done where it was what it seems to be like a play area with splash pad and mini golf course.

Beautiful location!! Lots of bike and off path trails. Great place to go and take some pictures and have a picnik. Not crowded what so ever, which is great for when you just want to sit down and enjoy what mother nature has to offer. Will definitely be back.
