Lynde Shores Conservation Area is perfect for some time spent in nature ... beautiful spot for pictures. Birds and animals will feed from you hand. Great for kids and a little day adventure. There is a small parking lot, parking is a small fee but worth it. ** Tip - take bird seed, sunflower seeds etc with you You will definitely see chipmunks, squirrels, ducks, swans and canadian geese as you enter the conservation area.

Lynde Shore is a hikers/birders paradise. Long, groomed trails, forests, and excellent places for birding shots. There are numerous geese and ducks, a large variety of small to medium birds, wild turkeys, chipmunks and squirrels. I've heard there are owls and deer to be seen.

Great park that's awesome for birding! Trails loop around the large marsh and run along the shore of Lake Ontario. In the spring there were numerous ducks, swans, and songbirds. Not too busy even on the weekend.

Absolutely magical place. Great place to walk and enjoy nature. When I walk here I feel at peace. Brought my 3 grandmothers here to enjoy it, and they are all over the age of 75. Today was an unforgetable experience for them and myself. Thank you to everyone who maintains this park and keeps the animals safe and happy! I will visit again in the near future and give as much support as I can. Also, for photography I recommend bringing a good quality camera. This time I only had my phone with me, but it was still amazing. Thanks again to everyone who takes care of this place!

Most of the conservation area consists of open areas with some woods. Trails don't really come close to the water except for a lookout spot. They have passholders parking close to the main road and public parking that can be accessed from a side road. Public parking is 6 dollars. Overall it was worth the hike, but was expecting to see more of the water.

September 29. 2023 ⭐️⭐️ I had the opportunity to explore Lynde Shores Conservation Area for the first time recently. Our aim was to take a leisurely stroll in the great outdoors and do some birdwatching. For those planning a visit, there is ample parking available, but please be aware that there are parking meters that must be paid before entry. One noteworthy aspect that stood out was the strict no-dog policy, which extends even to dogs on leashes. Despite this restriction, the walk itself was quite pleasant, and the park offers numerous benches where visitors can pause and rest. The conservation area is also commendably well-kept and clean. However, there was a significant drawback during our visit, and it revolved around the restroom facilities. The restroom I used was in a deplorable state, emitting an unpleasant and overpowering odor. To add to the discomfort, I found the only two rolls of toilet paper on the floor. Furthermore, there was no access to running water for handwashing. Regrettably, I don't anticipate returning to this location in the future for this reason alone.

There is always a great deal of wild life around dusk and dawn and a great place to catch a glimpse of swans and other diverse birds. Great laved trail along with gravel . Many parts to explore .

Very nice park, bring some bird and squarrel food - it is fun to feed the wildlife. The park is pretty big but linear and put on entry of sunscreen - you do need to stroll through the sunny fields a lot. The lakeside of the park is absolutely beautiful with a large secluded beach and clean water. The parking is $6 fo a day.

Wonderful walk at Lynde Shores - all the deer were out. We managed to see 13 of them. You can only walk your dogs on the paved waterfront trail to protect the wildlife here so not really a great venue for dogs if you want the full experience. But they are clear about that on the website and the trails are well marked so you know which ones to take.

If you want nature this is the place to go. Beautiful green grass, wild flowers, wild birds of many species and so many chipmunks and squirrels. Paid parking available $6 for whole day. No picnic areas on site. There's both paved paths & fine gravel trails for walking & bike ride. This is not a dog friendly place based on the no dogs allowed signs scattered through the conservation area. There is a washroom located on the premises, but user beware it is an outhouse with no running water or sink. I'd rather pee outside the outhouse as there are less flies outside.

Beautiful oasis, easily accessible from anywhere in Durham Region. Hosts a great variety of wildlife and the sounds of modernity disappear as you enter the woods for a tranquil getaway. Trails are poorly marked, which is why it only gets 4 stars. Trails are flat and very easy.

I've traveled the world & honestly there's no place like it! If you have young children especially this is a must see!! From the moment you get out of your vehicle you'll be swarmed by Canadian nature ie Canada Geese, Squirrels, Chipmunks 🐿 & more! Wild birds eat right out of your hands although presently May 2022 there's a warning ⚠️ not to do so because of the Avian flu however when this isn't a concern it's wonderful to do!! If you're extra lucky you'll meet the resident deer, raccoons & turkeys. This is an Ontario must do in my opinion. Bird water heaven for sure!! Should you like aquatic adventures bring your canone or kayak & enjoy the marsh & surrounding waterways. This is definitely a wonderful day trip or a great spot to decompress at lunch.

Beautiful early morning outing to feed some song birds. We also saw a lone deer in the distance. Mom and dad goose were getting aggressive as soon as we arrived, baby was following us like a toddler learning to run, mom and dad goose were hissing at us demanding food.... So much so that we had to jog ahead to get enough distance that they would leave us alone!

Nice and tidy. The entrance to bigger trails from 623 Halls rd parking is to the right after the parking meter which is not marked clearly. Left and centre paths are for the small trail circling the field. Lots of meadow flowers, butterflies. Didn't manage to see any animals. Just a few beautiful birds.

Definitely worth the walk across the open planes of this conservation oasis. At first you don't think much of it from the small parking lot but after 5mins in you realize there are few trails you can take and not just the main. If you get a chance to make your way out to the actual shore line you'll definitely be rewarded with a view and peace of mind that you are no longer under that blaring sun. Enjoy! Leave better than found, thank you!!

Winter time here is magical there are so many animals. The ducks are so friendly they come right up to you. They are usually looking for food, but please don’t feed them. This area is also not dog friendly but great for a walk.

Really nice place with beautiful birds and trails. Didn't stay long as the wind made it too chilly. But, will definitely be back with the nieces and nephews and possibly the bikes. Just a heads up, the parking is a paid parking.

Beautiful and relaxing conservation area with both paved and natural trails to follow. An abundance of wildlife (deer, birds, squirrels, etc.) for nature lovers and photographers. Mix of forest trails, open fields, and scenic water views. Perfect for families and people of all ages. Entirely flat terrain, easy to use. Only $6.00 max for parking makes it very economical for hours of enjoyment. Did not see any amenities (bathrooms, food, picnic tables) coming in from the Hall St entrance. However, the park is close to nearby shops and restaurants (driving distance). The entire park was immaculate. Bring some bird seeds and your camera or canvas! Enjoy!

Accessible parking, flat trails, viewing platforms for wetland areas and access to shoreline of Lake Ontario. Also a popular area for birders. Lynde Shores is an excellent location for shorter, easy hikes of 1-2 hr duration.

Amazing wildlife here and a great paddle to the shore available between July 15 and Sept 15 only, otherwise lots of birdwatching and hiking to see, beautiful gem hidden in the city. Paid parking but it's only 6$ for the day, flat rate so you might get lucky and get a parking slip from someone leaving like I did! P.S bring bird seed!

Lynde Shores is my happy place. Seeing the deer, all the wildlife is amazing always. Just 1 small reminder, if you want to feed the animals, google what they eat naturally first. 😉

Love all the wildlife, and it's very, very clean. Easy to walk the trails and so may birds to see. Drive slow up the road. 30km is good. You may see the deer that crosses the road often. 🦌 🐦 🦋 🦃 🐇🦝🐀🐸

Loved this place for sure, the animals and friendly and there’s many birds in the area. Definitely the calmest geese i’ve encountered, the only thing is the area is pet free and no dogs are allowed in majority of areas with wildlife!

Extremely popular for wildlife viewing, Lynde Shores Conservation Area has a number of looping trails (5 km including the 1 km looping trail within the Cranberry West Tract). These trails, especially the Chickadee Trail, are just the right length for little ones and are generally stroller and wheelchair friendly.

Any time of year this is a lovely place to hike and explore. The birdwatching is great, but just the scenery alone is worth it. Do note the parking is NOT free.

  • 4/5 Jaz D. 2 years ago on Google
Park is nice, and we saw some animals like geese, ducks, many birds, deers etc. The time I went there were a lot of mosquitoes on the trails even in the day. Parking is $6 which is fair to maintain a conservation park, however not too many parking spots are available. Trail is not a far walk although in the summer might be a better view.

We stumbled upon this conservation area while cycling along the Waterfront Trail from Pickering to Oshawa. Since then, it has become a favourite. I've seen a lot of wildlife in this small area: deer (lots of them), different kinds of birds, and other woodland animals. Check it out. Bring the entire family.

If you're looking for an escape into nature, don't hold back. Also, you can take bird food and they'll eat the grains from your hands.

Love this place. I visit almost weekly during good weather. A wildlife sanctuary. Birds will literally eat out of your hand. Great place to help young ones appreciate the wonders of nature and our need to preserve it.

I went here on a whim just to get in a few steps and I fell in love. I did the LeVay Trail and ended with the Chickadee Trail... the little fellas ate seeds right out of my hand! 😍 It was a muddy but beautiful crisp December day! Once the ground freezes a bit I'll be back!

Beautiful place to visit . Stroller friendly. Bring your own birdseed to feed the birds. And your cameras. Spotted a few deer, falcons, ducks, geese, and chickadees.

What a beautiful walk in nature. A pond full of ducks and geese, the kids got to see a couple toads which made the experience extra special for them. It's a great place for a little nature
