A nice trail. Within the area trails are interconnected, so you can make your own loop length. The southeast side is nicer, the forest is thicker, probably older. The rest of the forest is kind of thin and young. Some part of the trails are in the open. Well marked and maintained. Plenty parking spaces.

Oh, where do I even begin with this gem of a forest? Glen Major Forest is the kind of place that makes you question whether you're really living in the real world or if you've stumbled into a magical land of talking animals and enchanted trails. Prepare yourself for an adventure unlike any other! First things first, the bike tracks here are ridiculously fantastic! If you've ever dreamt of soaring through the forest like a caffeinated squirrel on a bike, this is your chance. The trails are so well-maintained that they practically sing a little "thank you" tune as you pedal along. It's like a dance floor made of dirt and leaves, where your bicycle is the star performer. Just make sure to bring your helmet to protect that brilliant brain of yours. We wouldn't want any genius ideas leaking out! Now, let's talk about the animals. Glen Major Forest seems to be a secret hideout for woodland creatures plotting their next great adventure. I swear I saw a deer wearing sunglasses and a raccoon practicing yoga near the entrance. You never know what furry surprises await you here. It's like a real-life version of "Animal Crossing," but without Tom Nook trying to sell you questionable real estate. Just be careful not to challenge any squirrels to a race – those little daredevils are lightning-fast! One thing that sets Glen Major Forest apart from other parks is their incredible maps. These aren't your ordinary, run-of-the-mill, "you are here" maps. Oh no, my friend! They're like treasure maps, guiding you to the hidden gems of the forest – the best spots for picnics, the secret squirrel gathering areas, and the locations where birds put on Broadway-worthy musical performances. Just follow the signs, and you'll be greeted by surprises at every turn. Who needs Google Maps when you've got a map that feels like it was drawn by Mother Nature herself? And let's not forget the breathtaking scenery! The forest wraps you up in a cozy embrace of towering trees and dappled sunlight. It's like being in a fairytale, minus the wicked stepmother and the pesky pumpkin carriages. Take a moment to stop, breathe in the fresh forest air, and pretend you're the star of your own Disney movie. Trust me, it's worth it. So, if you're looking for a place that combines the thrill of biking, the wonders of nature, and the joy of feeling like a kid again, Glen Major Forest is your ultimate destination. Just be warned: you might never want to leave. It's like a vortex of happiness that sucks you in and refuses to let go. Happy pedaling, my fellow adventurers!

Great trail. People with knee problem recommend to carry hiking pole. Well marked trail. Weak GPS signal if you are using all trails app for trail like I do. Lookout point is amazing. Free parking. Road to trail is broken drive carefully. Pot hole as soon as you enter in parking. Drive safe. Very beautiful and scenic.

Excellent trail. Nice open type trails where the breeze actually flows in through the forest, unlike other trails where it's overgrown and filled with bugs. Enough of variation in the path with hills and changes in terrain (gravel then earth, roots, etc etc) plus changes in scenery (forest, open fields, etc) that make hiking fun and always interesting. Great for mountain biking and we intend on using our bikes next time. My only complaint is a huge pothole at the entrance that scared us as it sounded like it broke something, luckily our vehicle wasn't damaged. That's the only reason I would take a star off this amazing destination.

Didn't know this place existed so close to Ajax. Great hiking trails, heat view. Has enough parking space. Good for family hike.

Gorgeous area! Main loop makes for a nifty little 7km hike! I can definitely see parking being an issue on weekends, though.

Nice flat trails, very easy to hike. Not much uphill or downhill, pretty level. For that reason, not a lot of breathtaking views along the trail. Great for family outing or novice hikers.

It's a pretty big and cool forest. It was serene and calm. There are lots of trees and shades, so even in a hot and sunny day it shouldn't be too bad. The trails were marked quite well and the one we chose was a 45 mins loop. Our furbaby enjoyed the hike. We loved the lookout, it was worth the hike! We recommend this for anyone looking for a nice hike. The only con is that there were no washrooms!

Great hike today! Lots of elevations that gave us a good hike. Mosquitoes were "intense" today, despite the fact that we sprayed up with repellant they still came at us pretty hard.

It's was quite detached place in a mid of a busy province/ City.. be ready to take a hike and parking is paid via the app. Much desorted kinnda environment.. kept for pure nature lovers ♥️

Great place for a couple hours walk. Took only the round trip surrounding the valley, that one is 45 mins light walk, most of it in full sun with beautiful views. Alternate routes available deeper inside the forest, to enhance your experience. Now in winter parking is free, but in summer there is very limited parking without a yearly pass... However, saw cars parked along the deserted road, so I suppose that is the solution during warm months. It is unexpected and rewarding to see how a former excavation for sand and gravel has been purposely returned to nature, the wounds covered with bush and young trees, growing free and creating food and shelter for more life. It shows we can coexist with nature without destroying everything in our path. Enjoy the walk and out of curiosity plant your own tree somewhere, see what comes out of it next year.

Beautiful fall hike through mature maples, cedars, oaks, birch trees and much more. It’s very kid friendly as you can choose how long or short you want to hike on the loop. The map points were fairly easy to figure out. There are also a couple of nice lookout points along the trail. I would definitely hike it again.

Trails were beautiful, leaves changing colours, exclusively foot traffic on the day we went. A wonderful 2 hours in nature with dear friends! Parking at $6 seems a little steep but if it’s going back to maintaining the trail system then I support it.

Lots of parking and diverse trails ! Hike there quite often. Getting 10km out of it is easy peasy. Well marked with numbered posts and maps

Mixed forest and rolling hills made for beautiful vistas and a nice cardio workout. Can walk in and around the aggregate pit. Town of Uxbridge now charges $6 for parking.

Rehabilitated gravel pit. Lots of green now. Forested around the rim. Lots of long trails in the woods great for biking.

A great place to hike! Not crowded at all. Love it has some uphills and downhills to keep it interesting… the only thing to keep in mind is that the trail map is not very helpful… you can easily get lost and it’ll be a big loop to go back to the original path. Still recommend👍

Cant get enough of this spot, you got hiking trails, walking trails, biking trails, down hill ski hills, criss country skiing, ski hills, kids skiing in the shadows, ATV trails, great views, good healthy active and like minded people, ample parking and open ends of adventure on either side, continue the journey by crossing the street, turn and go back or use a 2 car system with one vehicle at each parking lot at either end. There are several different return trails so not hike is exactly alike! Definitely bring sleds or toboggan for either side!
