Teeny tiny shop on the corner where the city finance dude threw himself off the building (look for the giant target out front on the pavement). Go down the stairs and it's like a blast from the 80s, decor-wise. The shop is maybe 5 strides deep to the donut counter. I ordered two and was pleased with how big and poofy they were - a solid return for $3.50 each. The dough is delicious, the texture is awesome, and the frosting is tasty without being cloying. I hate donuts that are so sweet you feel sick after. The problem, *there’s a real bizarre flavor in there I can’t put my finger on, and it completely ruins the donut. Here’s an example to try to explain it. Have you ever tasted the baking soda on an Auntie Anne’s pretzel? Some folks don’t taste it, but when I have a mall pretzel that’s all I taste. Except this wasn’t baking soda, it was more sour. Possibly alkaline? Or maybe a super-off batch of buttermilk? I’m going to head back and give it another shot in the off chance it was just todays batch. The girl working the front was friendly and recommended the pistachio which was DIVINE*. These donuts without that whatever it is* flavor are easily in the same ballpark as Hole, which currently reign supreme for me in Asheville.

My husband and I were walking around after dinner for dessert. I spotted the sign for donuts and we ended up running in to avoid the downpour—what a great decision. I had the OG glazed donut and was pleasantly surprised! There were so many options, but I recommend the glazed! We met the owner and she was super nice too!

WOW! This little place has it going. My wife went down to grab coffee from the hotel and ended up bringing back a box of donuts. These are a must try. The coffee is great too. I would describe the donuts as light and fluffy. Much more to them than a KK donut, but still light and airy. Soooo good with a lot of options. Glad we stopped by.

So good!!! The people who work here are so nice and lovely and the donuts are great, I like the Simpson (strawberry glaze with sprinkles), the OG (original glaze), and the everything bagel flavor one which is very unusual (it even has bits of garlic on it). Also they have gluten free/vegan options which are the mochi donuts, they’re smaller and have a different texture. You gotta go here and try to go early because they sell out quick! Also their selection changes, not sure if it’s daily or weekly but they always have something new and interesting

Found this on our walk around downtown-ish Asheville. Absolutely delicious, super fresh and creative flavors. A fun vibe for a quick breakfast.

Amazing donuts, staff and atmosphere. It's also the basement of a really cool historic building! I ate my donut so fast I didn't get a chance to take a photo!

GLUTEN FREEEEEE BABABABABAYYYYY!! I went to Vortex first and have never been so disappointed. Now to the good stuff! The GF Mochi doughnut was life changing, I think I’d like it even if I didn’t have to be GF. And the options for flavors, today they had 9 GF offerings. I got a dozen and they were worth every penny. The owner was devine! She gave me a sample of an unglazed mochi and let me tell you, I could have eaten them all without glaze it was chewy and delightful! Then she told me there were GF breakfast sandwiches, so I got a bodega with bacon on GF English muffin and wwwwwooowww superb! I got a lavender and white chocolate latte also and it continued the trend of delight and awe I had over this quirky little doughnut shop in the basement! While expressing my gratitude to the owner and her team the young lady working there tells me the owner whose name is Sam has celiac! And then it made so much sense! She gets it she just gets it! My partner had their EggNog yeast doughnut and thought it was amazing as well along with a matcha latte (with local owned matcha company )that was flavored with rose and pistachio. This is the best hidden gem! And they strive to use locally sourced products which in this economy with a store of its size is probably hard for margins but the quality speaks volumes! Go check out this shop!

This place is a hidden gem! Constantly changing flavors which keeps it exciting and creative. I almost skipped out on it because it doesn’t have as many reviews and glamour at the other donut shops around but so glad I didn’t! Donut sleep on this place! Chai crunch, Raspberry Matcha and freshly made to order Lemon White Chocolate pop rocks!

We are in NC visiting and after we saw the reviews, we knew we had to come here. Best decision we’ve made in this trip! These donuts are so creative and most importantly, delicious. The cafe itself has a great vibe. I am gluten free and was thrilled to see their gf selection. It was, by far, the best gluten free donut I have ever had — perfect crisp on the outside, doughy in the middle (unheard of for gf donuts!), not crumbly whatsoever — it brought on real happy tears! The woman working there was so incredibly kind and gracious with us. We are leaving NC tomorrow and I am genuinely sad that we won’t have an opportunity to go back. Highly, highly recommend!

They were out of donuts when we went over there, but they gave us someone else's online order for free. They said they weren't wanting to wait on them. I don't blame them cause the place is haunted. It was still a cool place to visit.

I absolutely love this place. I'm not generally big on doughnuts, they used to be just something I might grab a couple times a year, but these are no regular doughnuts. Now I get a half dozen pretty much every week (and sometimes more often). Awesome, interesting flavors, great texture, gluten-free options (I eat gluten but the mochi doughnuts are great), and consistent quality. I don't go anywhere else for doughnuts.

This place is a must if you’re in Asheville. Their donuts are so tasty. They have a variety of different unique flavors. I happened to order The Simpsons and The Everything but the Bagel donuts. Their donuts are fluffy and light. Come here early, because their donuts sell out fast.

This place has such cool flavors. The donut itself was light and airy with a fantastic balance of flavors. Sweet and savory options available. We had the everything donut and PBJ one. The woman behind the counter was so sweet and gave us an extra because it was our elopement breakfast! My favorite was the everything donut! It was literally everything 😍 They also have gluten free donuts.

I don’t know what they put in these donuts…but DANG they’re amazing. Ginger sugar spice maybe? Super hole in the wall (literally located in a basement). Try it!

Delicious donuts with perfect dough and fantastic flavors. My fave for this visit was cookie butter baby (it's the one with the chocolate drizzle) .

I always love trying donut shops when I travel, so I was happy to find a spot in Asheville I hadn't tried before. My husband and I tried: - Everything Yeast Donut - Raspberry Siracha Yeast Donut - Cereal Milk Yeast Donut - Miso Maple Mochi Donut I loved the glazes on the donuts. I'd say the Everything was my favorite. I found the donuts themselves a little dry. The mochi donut wasn't like other mochi donuts I've had. It seemed to be very light on the mochi because that classic mochi texture wasn't really there.

Came here at 12:50 pm EST on Saturday, paid for parking to grab donuts only to be met with a sign saying back at 7 pm despite Google hours saying they close at 2 pm and reopen at 7 pm.

These are mochi based donuts — making them gluten-free. Was thrilled to learn about these offerings through the “Find Me Gluten-Free” app. The day I visited, there were multiple flavor options — I tried the lemon blueberry and the espresso cinnamon. I knew these would not be cake-like donuts, but I was not 100% sure what to expect. The donuts were quite light and chewy — the flavors were not overwhelming. Would definitely recommend the visit — street parking first thing jn the morning is easy to find — the door to “Stay Glazed” a bit less so — you have to walk DOWN stairs — once you see it, you will see it, but it is tough to locate at first!

The gluten free donuts are always mouthwatering and the flavor creations are inventive. Today the Alien Juice was out of this world! (raspberry, coconut, and lime) 👽🛸

Cool little donut shop with several things to taste and try. I got the miso maple and the Simpson and their tastes are unique and great. The donuts are very fluffy when you bite into it. Very fresh! Closed on Monday & Tuesday so plan accordingly. There’s seating inside and the staff is friendly and relaxed. A must try if you’re into donuts!

Hint: We have tried to eat here more than once. We passed by the restaurant for 3 days, but they were closed Mon, Tues and Wed. Wed night: Saw on the door open Thur at 9. Thurs: Another sign said sorry we will open at 10.They were still icing them and we just couldn't wait another hour. Never got to try them. I feel like they are a small business owner, but when people out of town are trying to try them for that long, we had to give up. I don't know if we will bother on the next visit.

Excellent breakfast place. I got a decaf iced caramel latte which was delicious as well as a prickly pear lemonade donut. The donut was extremely light and fluffy and flavorful. I also got the breakfast burrito which was awesome. I loved the hash browns inside the burrito. I was a little intimidated to go underground to get there but it was a wonderful experience.
