Cool spot to stretch legs and learn a little history. Well kept, nice views, plenty of parking. I don’t remember seeing restrooms.

I believe that we should visit as many historical places as we can and learn about our history bot the greatest things and the worst it is an amazing view and the site is preserved very well. Sorry you can't go inside and look around. Oh and good luck finding a place to park other than that a fun place on the list to stop and look around 😉

Cool cival war historical site overlooking the Mississippi River. Ulysses S Grant commanded the district of south east Missouri and southern Illinois August 30, 1861 took command of the union army in Cape Girardeau. Fascinating piece of history preserved for everyone

Nice preservation of history. We were there when they were doing some cleaning and prep for the season. The folks gave us some history and were very pleasant.

Met a great friend who was participating at the Memorial Day event. A Great historical site to visit in Cape Girardeau, MO. They will also be back on July 4th!

Its like a hole in the wall restaurant. Its nice to walk around but not much there. There is some information and a fantastic view. It is from the 1860s so if you here stop by. I travel alot so dont forget to follow.

Was nice to look at and read the plaques. It was closed when we were there. Trash and tipped over Porta potty around back. Shame

Neat little spot to walk around for a few minutes. Lots of historical markers to read on the premises. The interior was not open when we arrived

Really cool place. We just happened to stop by as the people who take care of it were there. They let us inside and gave us a history lesson.

Pretty interesting Fort. Not much to see since to doors and windows are locked down. I’m not sure if the windows and doors are open during the summer. There’s no type of tours so no charge to walk the grounds.

Fort itself is not open but you are free to walk the grounds. Plenty of signage explains in detail the fort's history.

While it's a cute little fort, it would have been nice to see the inside. It is difficult to visualize its usefulness since the river is 1/2 mile away. The grounds are well kept, but the parking is scarce. The story boards were helpful.

It is in the middle of an old neighborhood and is a bit difficult to get to without a GPS. The street, parking, and area are run down. I would suggest going in the middle of the day and be aware of your surroundings. The fort itself is very small and unless you are specifically interested in history, it would likely not be of interest. Although I thought it was interesting, the kids did not. There is no inside attractions and the outside is very meh.

No defined parking and the sketchy neighborhood make going to this place a real adventure. I didn't realize it, but I was told afterwards about the number of shootings in this area. The small park was maintained and the history was interesting....but it's not worth risking your life. Recommend staying away until the crime rate drops, or they level the neighborhood and revitalize it.
