Great church : outside and inside. The statues and pictures are beautiful. There is a wonderful treasure: the hand of St Stephen... The entrance cost 200Ft (about 1 euro) It's also possible to climb to the top...

Good acoustics, nice interior. A lot newer than I expected. I saw Billy Elliot from the balcony. Good prices. Great production. Be sure you look into the Hungarian Clap before attending so you know what to expect. They don’t do standing ovations but the “Hungarian Clap” should be experienced by every tourist at least once. :)

Theater for the people. Beautiful old theater, even the worst seats have a good view. The acoustics are excellent. The staff running the theater are polite and efficient. The metro is a few steps away in the same park. Lovely opportunity to dress up for the evening. The concessions were good, but the queue was crazy long.

This temp theater as the main Opera house is under renovation. We saw the nutcracker here but the stage seems just a little to small for the large group of ballerinas. It’s a very cozy theater...

The concert was good, but the sound technique is below criticism, which is not negligible in the case of a musical performance! I sat in the last row of the floor, maybe that was the problem, although I don't think it had a role in the microphone's excitement.

This theatre was renovated in 2013 and is therefore in great condition. The performance was nice, but you have to plan a long time to queue for food and drink during the break.

Very beautiful theatre, lots of parking places nearby. The government of Hungary did a good job with this theatre too.

Beautiful theater! We went to see the ballet of The Swan Lake, it was a magical presentation! The dancers and the orchestra were spotless! The theater staff crew is very polite and willing to help everyone.

The performance of Die Fledermaus was outstanding. A completely packed house, excellent acoustics, the whole experience was amazing. Why only 4 stars then? I had an excellent seat at the front of the balcony and there is a wall in front of the seat. Nowhere to put my feet and my knees were pressed against the wall making it quite uncomfortable. It was a real shame. Other seats are certainly better although the guy behind me was moving his knees around a lot. It's a shame because apart from the legroom, the whole experience was 5 stars all the way.

Nice place. But it's used instead of the opera house, and it's not so beautiful

The Erkel Theatre is a theatre in Budapest, Hungary. Being the largest public building in the city for decades (and the largest theatre in the city), it was made part of the Hungarian State Opera House in 1951. With the idea of bringing opera to the masses for cheap, originally named Népopera (The People's Opera), the theatre was planned and built by the Népopera JSC (funded largely by the Budapest city council). The council provided the plot for free, but in return it regulated the theatre's operation: among other requirements, it had to employ a permanent Hungarian company, and the language of the plays had to be Hungarian.
