We saw outstanding reviews for this place on google which was confusing because most of our food was fresh out of the microwave. Knowing that so many positive reviews couldn't be this wrong I have two theories: 1. There has been some change in management/protocol since the last review was posted. 2. No one else was in the restaurant when we showed up (around 10pm) and therefore they did not feel the need to cook fresh food for us. Be wary of this place if there aren't many other customers there. On the bright side, 1 liter of beer is only 8€.

Me and my gf had a great lunch here. Some days later on Christmas day, we were looking for a good place for lunch. The place was open and we went for lunch again. That meal was the best ever meal we had in Madrid! Amazing home style food cooked and served with love! It's a family run place with wholesome food! Not great if you are vegetarian or vegan though! 😁 Go for the Menu del dia (menu of the day). It has plenty of options to choose from! Portions are very generous and wine is included! Will come back to Madrid just to eat here!

Great meal, great price! We had the meal of the day combo at lunch: two great courses followed by dessert, plus a glass of wine for under $20 each. The oxtail (Toro) was delicious! The place was filled with locals who were clearly regulars: always a good sign. The only reason for not giving 4 stars is the simplicity of the food, but that does not detract from a thoroughly enjoyable meal.

This is the ideal spot if you're a tourist to eat. Not only does the restaurant have friendly ambiance but the food is delicious! With my limited knowledge of the language, they were able to tell me the food was traditional, for the center of the city the prices were great and the portions more than fair. As an added plus, its located in the center of Madrid! This is what makes it such an ideal spot for tourists because as soon as you've paid your check you can walk across the street to the "Mercado de San Miguel" or walk 2 minutes to the Plaza Mayor. There are also various shops surrounding the area in which I bought a few things. Would recommend greatly if you are ever in the area.

Homey cuisine. The menu del dia is a bargain. Skip the Mercado de San Miguel if you want a restful, excellent sit-down meal. Their white bean soup, ratatouille, fish and dessert offerings were delicious and all freshly prepared. Free app of olives and bread, bubbly water, bottled water and wine included with the menu del dia..Cozy interior. Don't hesitate.

The best restaurant to eat when you are nearby Plaza Mayor or Sol. I have been eating at this restaurant for decades and they always have great dishes on the menu.

Lovely familiar restaurant. Simple and tasty food. Very quite, very low-key. We loved it.

They didn't get the order properly, there were more fat than meat on my steak, one side was rare, another overcooked, had to ask for a drink several times, they added unknown 10 percent to the bill. AVOID IT!!!
