Odathil Palli, situated in the heart of Thalassery Heritage Port town and centre of Business hub. It was a contribution of the great Merchant Chovvakkaran Musa, popularly renowned as Musa Keyi. Very unique building in aspects of Architectural, Structural and Aesthetic beauty. One negative thing I noticed from the current situation was recently builded structure attached with the main mosque. Which is disturbing all the beauty and ambiance of the heritage.

It's an ancient historical mosque

One of the oldest mosques in Kerala. It is said that the mosque is completely carved out of wood meant to built a ship. The architecture is unique and it is a different experience just observing the interior.

The 200-year-old Odathil Mosque, known as Odathil Palli, is a magnificent monument that reflects the heritage of Thalassery town. Odathil mosque is noted for its distinctive architectural style, which is similar to the architectural styles followed in Kerala temples during that time. The three-storeyed mosque is famous for its copper plate roofing, abundant use of teak wood, countless windows and golden thazhikakudam [finials].

Since it was constructed in Odam the masjid came to be called Odathil Palli, meaning 'masjid in garden'. The site of the Odathil Palli used to be a sugarcane garden of the Dutch.
