I read some of the reviews and was scared so I took a drive from my Airbnb where I was staying in Miami so my boyfriend & I could for our own opinion as we were looking for an affordable 3 month winter stay. We weren’t scared away and we made our reservations. The sites are close together but that is camping in south Florida unless you are boondocking. The pool is quite nice and the it’s the most friendly place to camp that we have ever encountered. There aren’t very many families and children. It’s more of a retired or semi-retired or pirate type of place. The showers are not luxurious but I always had hot water. I like it here. To each his own. If you like to relax, have a beer or other beverage, lounge by the pool and be extremely close to the keys .. on a budget… then I think you will like it too!! We are now here for our second winter.

We arrived here 2/19/22 and unfortunately stayed until 3/20/22. We made our plans months before getting here and did not have a site reserved elsewhere until 3/20. Having camped for decades in several different campers at many different facilities; this place is either the absolute worst we ever experienced or a close second worst. After two weeks we were searching for another place to stay willing and eager to leave forfeiting our monies. No such luck. The location is great and the price is right. We enjoyed the peafowl antics and were fascinated by all the various small lizard activities. The pool is very nice. Great old trees, plants and shrubs. Within easy distance of all Everglades stuff and plenty of non-franchise food places within a mile or two. Usual franchises also. Typical piggish behavior from some campers that is expected most everywhere but the staff did thorough cleanups regularly. I am not certain why there are any rules listed on your paperwork and noted on several signs around the park. It seemed to us people did as they pleased. The rules read like common sense to me but apparently, it’s too much restriction for several folks here. I’m not sure why they say they claim to have security. Our most valuable life lesson from this experience is to be way more vigilant when we are assigned our site. Two things to keep in mind should you decide to accept the challenge of staying here are a) note the roadways and traffic as you get within a couple miles of this place. Observe how close your assigned site is to these roadways, b) unless you seek obnoxiously loud noise 7:00pm to 11:30pm Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings, do not accept a site anywhere near the bar. Under no circumstance tent at this place. The ownership of Southern Comfort RV Resort seems to prefer making revenues from serving the needs of a small number of caterwauling drunks rather than the needs of their other park visitors. Yes, inexpensive alcohol is the main feature here. The bar is open to the public which makes me wonder how effective the security gate is if the general public has access. Check the big sign on the web site. Maybe you notice the tropical drinks and words “Tiki Bar”. The bartenders do not know how to mix a tropical drink and when they look it up tell you they don’t have most of the ingredients. Beer and simple mixer type stuff is cheap. The only Tiki at this bar is the tobacco reeking thatched roof. Except for one basketball hoop and the pool I’m not sure what young kids would do here. Watch out for the shuffleboard mafia 9-11am and again at 3-5pm seven days a week. Passive aggressive behavior at its finest. Were not thrilled to find how close we were to a nuclear power plant and a fair-sized penitentiary. The wifi is unusable for the smallest task. Used my mobile phone as a hotspot to upload this review. Bring plenty of DVD’s or your satellite receiver if you watch the tube. The air TV stations are few. If we ever need a site in this area again we will run the risk of camping in a strip mall parking lot rather than consider this place a second time. NOT RECOMMENED.

This park was an absolute dump. My dog got fleas and mange mites this winter of 2022, and I spent weeks treating her after, at a cost of $1850.00. The rvs are crammed real close together and the bathroom doors are coming off. There is a bar in the center of the park that gets a drunk crowd on weekends. Other guests I spoke with said their dogs were getting eaten by mites in the grass as well. I asked the owner if she sprayed at all and she said no, and then cancelled my second month for pointing it out the health concerns. Unfortunately the owner will likely continue to keep renting this unsanitary park because people flock to florida in the winter in droves.

We had a great stay but the tent sites were rather small and it was not secluded enough for my taste. We had to pitch our tent right between our neighbor's and the shuffle board game so the activity level was high till late.

I enjoyed the free roaming peacocks and tropical vegetation. This is an original park with narrow streets and a bit tricky to back into. Once we were settled it was very comfortable. Had difficulties getting verizon service to work here and we depend on it for work. Showers and laundry could use some capital improvements. Location was great and Starbucks is right across the street. We'll be back!

A great place with a great staff. The Tiki Bar is awesome! The bartender is one of the best I have had. She takes the time to welcome everyone and the drinks are made to perfection. The Tiki is open to the Public so stop in. They take there speed limit inside the resort very seriously at 5mph and please look out for the animals that call this resort home also please.

This place is a mess. The lots are grass and mud. We asked for a pull thru spot and got assigned a narrow spot that you can barely pull into but cannot pull out. The spots are not angled and the streets are too narrow to make a turn. I had to back out when we left. They don’t have security and people had their stuff stolen. The only thing nice about this place was the bar and being close to the Florida Keys. We could be at a beach in Key Largo in 25 min. We won’t be coming back.

Amazing staff! Danny, Pat, Ish, and the ladies in the office are all super friendly and helpful. Spots are roomy and have very nice grass with a concrete pad. Awesome pool and beautiful peacocks roaming around. Location is great and makes it easy to get down to the Keys or up to Miami.

Me and my wife are full-time on the road RV ing. We own a 98 Winnebago class a motorhome and we called this park for a monthly rate And was told they don’t take motorhomes this old ((. Are you kidding me lol lol. )). like you have many good reviews anyways lol lol. And let me give you some knowledge on RV.s I work for RV dealers for over 20 years and the older RVs were built better the new ones today are built poorly. So lots of people are getting old RVs and redoing them There was nothing like a beaver or a country coach RV. And you can’t get them no more. Ok just wanted to give your RV campground some knowledge Ty and have a good day

WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!!!! Well, we endured a month here because we had already paid before we arrived. Wish I had known about the theft, Peacocks and noisy Tiki Bar. A package of earrings was left at the desk and when I went to pick it up I was told it was missing even though Amazon said it was delivered the girl said “Just order another one”. I think not! We learned to constantly check our mail so that no more is “missing”. Peacocks have full run of campground and are screeching at all hours when we are trying to sleep. Tiki Bar karaoke bar speaks for itself the only way we could sleep is with our air conditioning on high to drown out the noise. And now we hear they are raising their rates. We are outta here! Would not recommend this place to anyone.

We stayed at the campground due to the proximity to a medical facility where a family member was being treated. The campground has seen better days. My locked bicycle was stolen even though it was in a well lit area chained to the travel trailer. The police and other campers told me that bikes are stolen just about every night with several bikes stolen some nights. Locking bikes is not enough since they cut the locks. Bikes must be stored inside. I asked campground staff to share this with arriving customers. It seems that the locals know that the campground security is limited and only until midnight.

In short do not stay here! My wife and I are experienced RVers and have stayed at hundreds of campgrounds. We haven't experienced another campground like this in all our travels. If you want to be accused of stealing someone's Doordash order and have the water shut off randomly throughout your visit then stay here. Originally we thought about extending our stay by another week because in some ways it's not bad but after the second day we quickly changed our minds and it kept going down hill from there. It is an older park but not terrible in some spots. Our issue was the way management handles situations. The park is old and could use lots of repairs and cleaned up all the trash piled up around the office. The pool area is decent. The wildlife is booming with all kinds of animals so that was interesting to see.

4 stars for absolutely amazing community and staff from Tiki bar:) Kristin was great as well as the people who meet there regularly. Security officer from the staff was very helpful and he let us in even if we didnt get any passcode from the office (despite of reservation made a couple of weeks ago). The bathrooms were clean but require some remodation plus they are open so some of smaller animals such as lizards, frogs, bugs may enter uninvated :)

This RV campground was conveniently located off of US1. The staff appear to work hard on getting up with day to day needs. But in my opinion this place would benefit from some major updates. Laundry facilities is old & 5 machines out of order. Coin operated only with no coin machine for extra $$. Pool closes at 7pm!? No community announcements of daily activities which appeared to be going on. Lots of RV Clutter around the whole park.

Quiet and laid back. Outdated restrooms but they function. Pretty clean and a great pool. The sidewalks roll up at 8 unless something is going on at Tiki Bar or rec center. Well worth the money.

We stayed here as it was close to Route 1 and the Keys. We wanted a home base for Everglades NP and Key Largo, Islamorada, and Marathon. It's in the city here so everything is close. We read reviews before coming and did not experience what we read. In our opinion, this was a great place to stay. It was quiet in the park. We had a pull through with plenty of room even though we heard it was tight. We did not use the laundry, pool, or restrooms. We loved the Peacocks that walk among us in the campground. They are beautiful and don't bother anybody. At night you may see them up in the trees. Early evening they are roaming around and calling to each other. There are about 14 and only 1 male. Only issues encountered and I only share as helpful feedback- I agree, the picnic tables are in rough shape, small, and could use replacing. There is a tiki bar on-site and there was some roudiness last night but only last night. I think it's only open Friday/Sat night. The neighbors who have been here said that doesn't usually happen. Lastly, arrived on a Sunday around 3 pm. We had not been given our site info, and the office was closed on Sunday after 2, with no packets left out with info. There was no one to help us and no one to answer the phone. We managed to get in the coded gate by a camper and found a site which was correct. The security guard found us later and said there was supposed to be an email to us with info, and between 2 when they close and 4 when he arrives, there is no one to help. This is an FYI not a complaint. We are in site 131. We don't recommend this site because there is something in the tree that drips yellow liquid and stained everything it dripped on. It's also all over the camper and everything will need a good cleaning at our next place but appears to be a permanent strain. Site 133 looks great, is a pull through and has no tree. Happy camping. * I can't believe how close to the Keys and route 1 this was. The rate here is moderate, not high. Well worth the rate. I was delighted to see an outlet mall across the street from the park. It was a perfect way to spend one afternoon.

People breaking into your cars, r.v even when you are inside also stealing golf carts You tell the owner and she doesn't care Also ridiculous how they charged me 10$ extra for my 1, 2 and 3 year old a day.

Never ever at this place. The staff are not even courteous and polite , no smile …rough people to deal with. They refused me to stay there cause some neighbour with her dog was always in front of my camper site making my dog bark as dogs will do. I would not even give 1 star….I had to put my comments about this place. Never going back to this place…I did not feel good there as a tourist….bathrooms showers are old dirty broken pipes ….laundry has dirty machines from people who live there all year round working in construction mechanics in dirty environment. I could find oil petroleum inside. 2 out of 6 dryers working. When it rains the whole campground is flooded. Leaves and dirty all over

This is not the nicest, cleanest, RV park I've ever stayed in, but the location is great if you're on the way to/from the Florida Keys and need to hang out for a couple of days. The sites are very close together, most of the bathrooms are just 'tired' - sort of clean, but they get a LOT of use and they're not really new anymore. The staff is friendly, most of the folks I met were friendly, but there was a "harley-davidson" kind of vibe about the place. Most of the folks were snowbirds. I'd stay here again, but let's be clear, this is not someplace I would want to stay more than 3-4 nights. Definitely go to Shark Valley and Schnebly's

Damaged our camper trying to get to our spot. Never going there again. It’s not a vacation spot, it’s more of a seasonal mobile home park
