Only $5 to see a marvelous exhibit of the history of Vallejo and its Naval/military years. The puppets are very unique and they did alot of effort to recreate a ship's beak.

Millennials and gen Z, check this out! I went to this museum with my coworkers and was happily greeted by the program director Trevor. He and John the genealogist were warm and able to answer my many questions. They were knowledgeable and went out of their way to show us all the museum had to offer beyond the initial galleries. I highly recommend this gem in Vallejo if you have the time to stop in. Not only can you learn about the navel history but there are so many older books filled with documents like mug shots from old police records and newsletters sent out to the ship yard over a century ago. Please stop by!

Really lovely museum with interesting exhibits, a working periscope and a surprising amount of information about historical local women. Also saw a nice temporary exhibit of art by local black artists. Wonderful restoration of a historic building, too. Well worth your time.

Hidden treasure. Vallejo is a wonderful place and needs to be given the respect and chance to flourish once again. City planners don't gentrify just give some thought to what will bring this city back to its former glory.

It was free to get in ,but a donation was given. It was not many people there which was fine. We had time to enjoy each section.

The museum is very small. Heritage chamber, To the left of entrance, is used for community events, concerts and educational programs. Research library is open on Tuesdays noon- 4pm. All other days it's only by appointment. Every 3rd Saturday of the month is free. Restrooms are on the lower floor and second floor( we used these. They are separated for both genders and the Ladies restroom is so beautiful with the sitting area outside the restroom). Periscope offers the Panoramic view of the city and Mare Island when rotated. Second floor has an auditorium and artifacts from the ships. The Captain's cabin on the the lower floor is beautiful. We were excited when we saw the old manual telephone exchange and cylinder talking machine.

Very cool spot! Learned about the city of Vallejo and Mere island and the surrounding navy bases. The museum staff were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, and were happy to share their wealth of knowledge with us. Definitely a smaller museum and a bit more scattered, but so much history that it shares, and a great spot to check out!

I love attending the annual Kwanzaa there. The museum is always beautifully decorated for the holiday season. Jim Kern is a local treasure.

We were greeted at the door and our entire experience was great. We grew up in vallejo in the 1940's and 1950's so we could relate to so much that we saw. We hope to return again and would recommend the museum to anyone wanting to learn of Vallejo. Very enjoyable.

It's a small and lovely museum, excelente for war/Navy nerds. My boys enjoyed it. It can make a short and sweet museum visit for kids with short attention span 😁

A jewel in downtown Vallejo. This former city hall building provides a look into the naval history of the city and Mare Island. Great historical exhibits as well as temporary exhibits. Currently there is an art exhibit displaying local artists work. I recommend everyone to support this institution.

Another place I can give 5 stars in thought of City Officials concluding that the City is doing good when it is! The 228 pics displayed here I can receive as when I last visited leaving to finish college then graduate as "congratulations 228!" 228 being a number that describes my positioning thus far after college graduation. I always called Vallejo Naval & Historic Museum "my golden canopy!"
