How do you improve on perfection? You cannot. Sumo Grill is our new go-to place in Martinez. As you can see the food is a visual delight and you get LOTS for your money. I love the garlic rice and the Chicken and Pork Katsu is easily 2 servings and everything is delicious. The people who own this place are so sweet and I wish them many years of success.

After reading all the reviews, I had to go in and give the a try. I must say, the reviews are spot on! The take out I ordered was outstanding. SoO good! You can see they take great pride in their establishment. Not just the quality of their food but you can see it in the way they package everything. 10+ for sure. And what really caught my attention is how clean and beautifully decorated it is inside. Simple and relaxing. I also need to mention the young man at the register. These days it's refreshing to helped by someone so kind and professional. Nothing like other places when you walk in you are ignored for a while, then the next thing you hear is "what do you want". Will be coming back more often. Wishing all of you years of prosperity.

Sumo Grill Is Delicious! Finally a Hibachi Place that’s close & with Great Prices!

Wow, I am so impressed with this place!! We ordered: -the chicken habachi with garlic rice -the New York steak habachi with garlic rice -the kids chicken habachi meal 1. You receive SO much food! My chicken habachi alone will last me for 3 meals! 2. Wow—so flavorful, delicious, and fresh. They did not skimp out on quality or quantity. The vegetables included sliced carrots, zucchini, broccoli, and onion, and they were also cooked in the sauce so they were so delicious. And the chicken and rice were perfect! 3. The prices are absolutely fair considering what they provide. We will definitely be returning!

Went here with the family and didnt ultimately enjoy the experience. We dined in, and instead of the food being delivered for dine in, it was delivered sealed in small plastic containers. While I didnt eat all the food, which might indicate that the portions were large enough, it didnt appear that way and I ultimately stopped eating as I wasnt impressed with the flavor. My wife didnt touch her food much after the smell initially put her off and her scallops were over cooked and her chicken she reported was chewy/springy. The reviews here gave an indication of a much better place and it was the reviews of the place that led us to it. So while I am normally inclined to not review things negatively as everyone has bad days, I dont see how this is a 4.9 ( the average review at this time ) location and its very dishonest.

We ordered thru Doordash so cannot comment on service or atmosphere. We had 3 diff combos + the garlic rice and a couple side salads. Honestly, the food is terrific. The steak was cooked perfectly AFTER delivery, which doesnt happen often. 1 med, 1 mid rare. The garlic rice was tasty. Portions are on the large side. The only minus I can say is there isn't enough dressing for the side salad which also is plus size. I recommend giving it a try ;)

I thoroughly enjoyed my experience here. I had the steak and scallop hibachi and it was delicious. We also very much enjoyed the edemami as well as the kids chowed down on the fried wanton. The one thing I noticed that you might consider, the size of the kids vs the adult portion isn't much of a difference. Same size rice portion and just about sane size everything else. An adult culould fill up on.the kids sized especially if you have an appetizer. Think about that for take out...

Food & service was good. However, it is more ideal for to-go ordering. The appetizer (gyoza) was served in a rectangular paper food tray. Tea was served in a paper cup. The ambiance was more of a fast-food and the vegetables were a tad bit overcooked for my usual preference. It's OK for anyone who wants to eat & go quickly.

Wow wow wow is all we can say. My family and I started coming since they opened. We love this place so much we probably eat this 3x a month. The owner's are very nice and polite the best experience ever. Food is beyond delicious. Please try when you are in the area

The food is here is absolutely delicious. The customer service was superb, the cashier was so sweet and accommodating. Not to mention, the salmon and steak dishes are delicious and well prepared. I enjoyed eating at the restaurant and would definitely recommend Sumo Grill for anyone to try.

Food is very good, with the homemade teriyaki sauce and perfectly cooked shrimp that pops in your mouth. Steak with the meals is in large portions and perfectly cooked to medium rare. Service is amazing, I would definitely recommend.

Absolutely love this place. Everything we've tried there is entirely too delicious and the portions are yuuuge. Also appears to be family run, which has me even more excited because I intend to eat here like a lot.

The food here was surprisingly good. I had hibachi scallops and they came with broccoli, zucchini and rice. The sauce on the entree was delicious and they also served two additional sauces that were even tastier. Our whole group had fresh, great tasting food that was served quickly and with great customer service. The place was spotless too. Highly recommend!

The food is served really fast when you order it. The food is delicious and comes In a large amounts! The cashier is the best she will give awsome tips about your food options! It is affordable as well for this type of food!

Great little place. I love we got a hibachi place in Martinez. The place is small, I think I saw four small tables, so we did takeout. The food was great, and they gave me a $5 coupon for my next visit.

Excellent food!!! Fantastic and kind and quick service!! These people care about their customers! We visited and dined at the same time as another famuly who claimed the chicken was chewy and the scallops tasted fishy - not at all true for us and my mom is incredibly picky. Have visited a second time now and just as good as the first!!! I'm so glad to have such a lovely new place here in Martinez close to home! Wonderful pricing (if you're comparing to Kobe or Benihana) - a MUST try!!
