Even though we visited in February, there were few flowers to see. The next months for sure, look more promising. The garden is big and the staff is working constantly to maintain the plants. I especially enjoyed the bonsai collection.

I thought this garden was going to be small when I looked on Maps, but I was wrong, it's deceptively big and plenty to look at! Great glasshouses too, such a wide variety of plants to see even when flowering plants (like the rose gardens) are out of season. You could easily spend a few hours here exploring. Excellent value for €4.

Really cool. Some beautiful flowers. Great exhibition of trees and other plants. Very nice Bonsai terrace. Bit of a line to get in later afternoon. Reasonably priced.

Very beautiful and well maintained Botanical gardens! It's breath of fresh air walking there! I felt happy and relaxed in this place. They had rich varieties of plants and very beautiful arranged 😍 Also there is a coffee where you can relax and drink some refreshments under the shadows of the trees.

Absolutely worth the 4 euro. This garden is quite big and has versatile plants that are local to Madrid and other parts of Spain. The garden was really, really beautiful and was planned out so you can weave through the whole thing, and get a little lost in the greenery. I recommend going just a few hrs before sunset so you get shade and also get to see the light peaking through the greenery. It’s really beautiful, I highly recommend this very eco-friendly activity for everyone!

Spacious and with a variety of options in it, it hosts a wonderful bonsai collection, a couple of nice small greenhouses, a large vineyard selection and many old large trees. Species from around the world. It was definitely worth the 4€.

Had a very enjoyable stroll around this beautiful and calming park. There is a charge to get in. You can completely forget you are in a city because you are surrounded by greenery. There is a special section for Bonsai trees and an interesting green house.

Very beautiful botanical gardens has a variety of trees and plants from all over the world. Entry fee is 4 euros for the gardens only and 6 for gardens + exposition. For students under 25 its 1 and 3 euros. There is also a great greenhouse that demonstrates different ecosystems such as deserts and forests. There was also an exceptional collection of bonsai trees. The gardens are well maintained and there are people everywhere taking care of the plants. There are also plenty if places to sit and enjoy the gardens

A very beautiful garden with tons of varieties when it comes to botanical. However, at the time that I show up, the plants were mostly dry and some areas were withering. Also there were many construction sites within which overall affects the experience. Overall, I enjoyed it but it has many opportunities and potential.

Really pleasant experience right next to the Prado Museum. Nice selection of flowers and other plants. A great way to escape the hustle and bustle of the city for an hour or two. Nice shady benches to relax. A cafe and a gif shop as well. 4 euro entry fee.

Very nice garden with a lot of plants and species all around the world. They also have a small gallery in the garden. it's a very relaxing place for walking and not crowded. Tickets cost 4€ and if you want to visit the gallery you have to pay 3€ extra so in total 7€ for a complete tour.

Lovely and peaceful garden to roam around if you have time, but if you're time limited, Retiro or the National Museum should be your priority. I especially loved the bonsai trees! Unfortunately it's quite close to the main road nearby.

Nice place to visit. In January there wasn't too many interesting things to do, but I bet once the spring comes, everything will be wonderful. The place is very well cared, it was very clean.. The glass houses are nice, but a too small. Also, one downside is that the traffic from the near road makes a lot of noise, so it's not that relaxing in the garden

I visited in October. The garden is amazing and has abundance of many different plants. You can buy the tickets at the entrance or online (as far as I know there is no difference in the price). Totally worth it. You have to plan one or two hours so that you have enough time to see and enjoy everything.

Worth the €4 entry. February maybe not the best time of year to visit, with a lot of empty looking plots. The indoor areas are fascinating and I loved the bonsai terrace too.

Nice place to walk around during a hot day, the entrance fee is a little higher 6 euros, you have restroom there and can spend as much time as you want in the garden. The tropical house was definitely worth seeing too.

Beautiful garden in Madrid! Definitely recommend going to see the different varieties of plants they have! If you go on Tuesdays from 10am to 13h the entry is free. Staff was very friendly!

A rather large and interesting botanical garden. Beginning of October is not the time to expect many flowers. Spring, probably, is better time for that. However, even in October you will find some nice flowers and colors in this garden, as I did. A nice place for a walk and observations of nature in the city. There are enough places to sit in the shadow or in the sun shine, as one likes. I spent 3,5 hours in this garden.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Visiting the Royal Botanical Garden of Madrid with my family of seven was an utterly delightful experience. The extensive array of plants and the tranquil ambiance provided a wonderful escape and learning experience for all age groups in our party. From the vibrant flowers to the elegantly manicured layouts, every aspect was a visual treat. Highly recommended for families seeking a blend of leisure and education in a stunning natural setting.

A lush oasis of paths in the heart of Madrid. Green trees with wizened branches and ancient trunks. Leafy shade to escape the hot summer sun. Pleasant refreshments available at the cafe, including Fanta, cool white wine, and salty table nuts. Tall stone statues towering above, watching the tourists and the city kin pass and stroll below.

I have been to the Royal Botanical Gardens in Madrid 3 times and thoroughly enjoyed it, but nothing was more magical than when it is lit up with special lights around Christmas. These aren't your normal red and green lights, these lights are magical! I felt like a child again! Both adults and children will enjoy the lights, the music and the sheer wonder of everything around them. Tips: buy tickets as soon as they are on sale, if you are focused on seeing the wide array of plants, flowers and trees, then go during the day and skip the light show. I suggest you do both if you can.

Nice garden but more for just walking around through trees. Nice bonsai display with very old bonsais. I'm sure it's more beautiful in springtime. Lacking in maintenance.

Gorgeous gardens and a nice place for a leisurely walk. We went in fall and enjoyed the leaves changing colors. Their bonsai terrace is adorable.

An excellent way to enjoy your afternoon! The relaxing atmosphere and the lush environment made it a little oasis. Take your time to enjoy every little corner because it is well worth it!

Beautiful gardens with both outdoor paths and greenhouses to visit. Very inexpensive entry ticket, and there is a student discount as well. Highly recommend a visit here, to walk around the gorgeous greenery or even just to find a nice bench to sit on and read a book in this pretty setting.

Lovely garden with versatile plants, especially loved the bonsais and the indooe rainforest.😍 Students can enter for 2 Euros! Can visit in hot weather as there is lots of shade, benches and water fountains/taps to drink from. Also has a café if you want to sjt down for a drink.

This place is a botanists delight, showcasing a huge array of plants from around the globe in beautifully landscaped gardens. A walk through the greenhouse takes you on a trip from the arid deserts of the world to the tropical rainforests, and if you time it right, you get to see all the orchids in bloom. Entrance is €6 if you want to see the art exhibitions, otherwise €4 for adults and €2 for kids under 12. Teachers enter for free on presentation of a pay slip or teacher's card. One word of advice: bring your own drinks as the café is way overpriced, charging €4.50 for a small glass or beer, not to mention the exhorbatant prices of snacks.

It is so beautiful durin spring. The little tulips garden makes it so pretty during spring. There is some parts that needed to maintain more. Flowers in so many kids are everywhere inside.

Nice botanical garden although some parts are under construction and so not reachable. We appreciated the bonsai exposition and the greenhouse dedicated to palms and succulent plants. Today the admission was for free, I don't know why.

Very nice botanical garden. Well kept and organized. Some plants were not flowered when we went there

On 2021-09-21 it was free. Not much flowering except for the dahlia. The café is quite nice with outdoor tables

A wonderful place. I recommend visit it after 14.00 because it's free then. Comfortable walking. The most interesting and inspiring was for me a collection of bonsai of different types, also an agricultural garden with domestic plants and crops - peanuts, curcuma, rise, tabacco, artichoke, all vegetables, salads etc. Also greenhouses with tropical plants, cactuses, palms. There are WCs and potable water sources, maps of the garden at the entrance.

Great botanical garden, plenty of exhibitions and things to see and visit

  • 5/5 Ariel S. 2 years ago on Google
A great botanical garden! Very nice to go in and relax in so many different spots. Everything is beautiful and well kept, especially the Dhalia garden, the bonsai exhibition and the vegetable garden. Note that the entrance is on the northern end of the garden, and not west. Definitely splurge the extra two euro for the exhibitions

Beautiful park that is very affordable to visit. Unfortunately some of the features were not functional while we were there (all of the fountains were not working) but still a beautiful place to visit!

Visiting places like this makes me wish that I had more knowledge of botany. The beautiful plants here can speak for themselves though and there are multiple informative plaques throughout the gardens. It’s a wonderful spot to sit and draw a plant that catches your eye.

Really interesting, but not well cured as I thought. Anyway, it has been a special experience when it came to see the bonsai's show.

This is such a beautiful, peaceful part of the city. Full of fresh air and nature with many trees and shrubs as you would expect. You could spend all day here and still want to come back another time. Highly recommended. Paul from London.

A lovely garden. We went and paid for the light show that was on from the beginning of November.

This is one of the most beautiful gardens I have ever visited. Of course I am here for the light show. The usual beautiful gardens have become magical. I would say that any visit to Madrid should include the Real Jardin Botanico. But if you can make it here for the light festival then do it. You will not regret it.

Pretty place to visit - if you don't want to see the exhibition in the pavilion entry is only four euros. The bonsai terrace was a particular highlight. We spent at least an hour here, well worth it

gorgeous place. and it's free if you go on tuesday after 14:00. if you love nature, expect to spend around 2 hours there (we spent 3, also went to the cafe that's on the premises), many many interesting plants, flowers and statues. i definitely recommend to visit

Multiple entrances closed, and Google maps didn't lead us to the correct one which is right next to the Prado museum. Other than that is was nice, but in September, almost nothing to see other than a ton of heat.
