I have never experienced such horrible customer service in my entire life. I sent a message to the establishment through booking to say I would arrive a day late. They said it would be okay, but, when I got there, they had canceled my reservation (which I had paid) and they put me out on the streets in the middle of the evening in a country I do not know after walking over a month of camino frances and doing a 10 hours bus ride. I started off my visit in Madrid exhausted and homeless. Thank you Petit Hostel. To top it off, both the hostel and booking refused to reimburse my stay. I am beyond angry and disgusted.

If I could give this place a zero I would. The check in box didn't work upon arrival. Imagine being locked out at 11pm at night and people inside are looking at you crazy not opening the door. Finally someone helps. I'm booked in a 12 person room when I clearly booked an 8 and tho I had proof I was still met with argument. Then let's talk about the shower that runs 20 seconds and cuts off and the lights in the shower go out every 1 minute !!!! I'm holding soap trying to signal a light! Please find another place to stay, the staff aren't even friendly the just walk around hoping you don't notice them and ask questions.

Do yourself a favor and avoid this hostel at all costs. I've been to many hostels and this is probably one of the worst, especially if you're solo travelling. The common area is so small that no one bothered staying there to meet other people, even on the weekend. From what I've seen, the other guests are mostly older people, so they're not really looking to socialize anyway. Then there is the bedroom/bathroom itself. I stayed in the 12 beds dorm. My privacy curtain was in a state of disrepair. The bathroom always smelled bad and the cleanliness is really not good. The room is also VERY small, there is barely enough space for one person to move around (and there's 12 people in here). And finally, they have the STUPIDEST thing I have ever seen: there is no light switch in the bedroom, the only light switch is in the BATHROOM and pressing it will turn on the lights in the BEDROOM while activating the motion sensor in the bedroom. With 12 people in the room and this dumb system, people kept pressing the switch and thus waking everyone up in the bedroom with the lights, multiple times per night. I booked 5 nights in this hostel, non refundable, and I ended up leaving after 2, accepting to loose my money because it is just that bad.

In my first night i smelled the urine on the bed. There was a big urine teint on the bed base. It was such a big mistake of hostel during covid 19 time. So i sent them e mail about the situation. Because there is no reception in this hostel. Only one boy is working from time to time. Anyway, after 30 min. One of the workers came to room to give me sheets rather than finding solutions! She told me that i should wait till the morning on this bed... At the end they gave back the first night's money. There is a very little common area and no kitchen ! The rooms are really tiny and you can't even open your suitcase. I would never ever go this hostel again. There sre cheaper and better hostels for sure!!!

Long review. TL;DR: concept over content hostel; Not recommend for more than one night. The staff is very nice, and the hostel is overall modern and comfortable, e.g. card for the lockers which was very practical. However, perhaps it's too modern - the rooms aren't comfortable: the light switches off by sensor which is very irritating; shower heads and faucets are operated automatically and limited in time, as if it's a public bathroom or a beach shower. The ladder to the top bunk was very impractical (I'm used to bunk beds, but the ladder was very short and very uncomfortable and dangerous to use; can't imagine any short person using it). The toilet in the room isn't properly sound isolated (it has a kind of a stall door rather than an actual door). Additionally, there is no isolation in general between the beds and bathroom part: with the automatic lights (which, in my room, operated upon opening the entrance door) and the automatic loud faucet, you'd likely to wake other people without even trying. WiFi isn't stable, and the socket at your bed won't work without a card (meaning that you must be in the room/in your bed when charging whatever it is). The whole automations cause more trouble than good, unfortunately. However, it is very clean, modern and new. The bed is comfortable (it isn't made though, which is standard for some hostels but surprising here considering the prices). I wouldn't recommend going here for more than a night. A whole week here would be exhausting.

I paid for two nights at Petit Hostel before arriving. I arrived at 11.30pm and had trouble with the self check in machine. After 30 mins of a staff member trying to help me they told me that they had over booked and had no space for me meaning I had to find somewhere else in the middle of the night to stay. They also told me they could not refund me because I booked through hostel world. It’s been over two weeks now and I’ve still not received a refund. I phone them and they say they will speak to hostel world but they haven’t followed up with me once. Extremely disappointing and I would not recommend booking with them.

Terrible rooms that smelled like toilet because it's so small. The shower and bathrooms would be better outside of your room. Lights going on and off was annoying. Water going on and off while showering is annoying and time consuming- Water gets in the room. Beds are clean and the key card to lock your things is good. Self check in is horrible. My name didn't show up. Had to call but they gave me the wrong information. No kitchen no laundry service. No breakfast. Don't buy groceries or plan to make your own meals. Nothing is really walking distance but a few bars and restaurants. Not close to main attractions. It's a normal neighborhood. Which would be fine if there were things more conveniently close by. So make sure to keep that in mind you will have to take the metro most places . I don't recommend staying more than 2 days. I messed up and booked 2 days. Now I'll wake up smelling toilet and potentially falling off the top bunk. It's really high and each time I went up I felt like I was going to fall. I've slept on top bunks before no issues I've stayed at really nice hostels cheaper than this one. So no excuse.

I had booked 5 nights but I left after 3, I just did not want to ruin my trip to Madrid. Now that I am back I read the bad reviews, and they are all so fitting to my experience too. Worst hostel I have stayed at. It isnt even a hostel, it is a damp basement under ground where they store people in the tiniest rooms. The airconditioner was out every night, and even if we used the whatsapp message service to ask if it could be fixed, nobody actually did anything before 10:00. I had three boiling nights. Everyone in the room woke up every night and we talked amongst us about the lack of air and that we could not sleep. And the weather was even cold, around 14 degrees😖 The only air supply and escape route, a «window» (into the ground) was locked with the key. There is supposed to be a night person there to deal with any issues. Nobody answered the text messages before the morning. I can see people in the reviews also have not been able to check in because they have to enter all details (took at least 20 mins) on a machine outside, but there seems to be problems with this all the time. I saw people on the phone with someone looking very frustrated all the time when I was there. How lazy of the hostel! For the terrible rooms; There wasn’t enough room for two people to even stand up and pack for the day or get ready, if you have luggage door open, nobody can do anything or pass by. Everyone just got so annoyed by the unpleasant room, no daylight, the smells, the damp hot air, terrible place that not many new people bothered saying hi even, they just wanted to get the hell out of there like me probably. I moved to Generator hostel which was sooooooo worth it even if I lost two days from the hostel not wanting to refund. I had the best sleep in Generator, and it was so much closer to everything! Seriousely! Why isn’t La petite hostel Latina place shut down, I wonder. There would be no escape routes in case of a fire. Listen to me and avoid this place, you will regret it. I understand now how they can have good reviews by some, it is because they give away free stays for good reviews. Holy moly, I am not surprised. I read it in some of the comments now after my return. I wish I had done this in advance! AVOID THIS PLACE!

It was cool and nice. Great settings, super clean and neat, nice workers, free towel, free coffee sometimes. Generally great experience....BUT I had a personal problem with my card and i had to sleep on the couch....if you are stranded, they do not care they will threaten to send you out in the cold so make sure you sort yourself properly.

We cannot recommend this hostel. The beds have no separation from the bathrooms; everything is kind of mixed. Good for the pictures but in practice it feels pretty messy and dirty. There are no windows as the rooms are underground, leading to a very poor ventilation and very unpleasant odor. We tried talking to the staff about this, but they did nothing to solve the issue. And also, we found bed bugs. The overall sanitary condition of the place was pretty low. It's pretty clear the walls and areas around the beds have not been clean in a long time. Try to avoid this place. We assume most five stars reviews are because the hostel offers a nice discount if you write them.

Good price in a fine location, 5 min to puerta de toledo and metro station... Beds are fine but the bathroom and showers inside the room, people get back late and taking shower so u can't sleep properly!

The hostel is located at close proximity to most places you need to be while visiting Madrid. The bus stop and metro station is located close by. The hostel was good for the price thought I felt the room was a bit too tight for eight people. A good thing though, the toilets are within the room. The first thing that set me off was the inability for an early check-in. Since the entire process is automated, the bed is only allowed after 1 pm. Although you can enter the hostel and keep your luggage at the locker. The pantry is minimal with only facilities to heat food in a microwave and vending machine for coffee and soft drinks. Also, it was mention the hostel has laundry facility (at additional charge), which is incorrect. The major disappointment for me was the unclean wash basins but that I believe is more due to the boarders at that time. Overall a good experience thanks to the staff. Just ask and they will also help plan your day.

I bought into the 5 star reviews, but they are fake, the hostel promises stay can be free if they leave fantastic review. So they are all fake. I give it 2 stars: incompetent check-in, from the moment I was told “wait 15 minutes” I waited another 2 hours 45 mins. It was almost 3 pm. On 2nd day manager came to my bed and tried to kick me out, when I booked for 3 days. Same day my key stopped working and I couldn’t get into the room. This place couldn’t not make you feel any less welcomed. Don’t give them your business

Convenient location. Metro station 7 min walk, and most sightseeing, shopping and eating places 15-20 minutes walk. Clean and tidy. Firm mattress and comfortable pillow. High ceiling, so both upper and lower beds have a lot of room vertically. Make sure to try to request for a lower bed if you do not want to climb a tall ladder. Each bed has black out curtain, two power points, two usb oulets, light, a small shelf and a small rubbish bin with cover. One toilet and one shower a bit tight for the 8 women dorm. Shower is rainfall style only. Water is warm, not quite hot, even at the hottest setting. Surprise of having small fridge, microwave, instant coffee, plates and cups.

There is a tiny fridge for the whole hostel, no kitchen, there is no receptionist, you have to drink water from the bathroom because the is no even a thing to take water to drink or clean what you use (which is yours because they don't have plates or glases). I thought it was a clean hostel but it's not perfect, the shower was very dirty. I asked for a mixed room for 4 people, I'm a woman and they put me in a room with 3 guys. The localization is not bad, but far from the center.

Just awful, avoid at all costs. I didn’t expect much from a shared room hostel, but it was even worst. Receptionists are only there at certain hours and if something happens when they are not there, you are out of luck. My key didn’t open the locker and I had to wait at the reception for three hours in my pijamas. Two girls lost their train because they couldn’t get their luggage

The location of the hostel is central, close to bus stops and metro. The facilities are modern but there is no kitchen, not even a microwave. Since guests cannot store food in the rooms, my food was stolen from the fridge in the common area. The staff is friendly and helpful. The check-in machine makes around the clock check-in possible.

Final review: PRO+incredibly nice staff, quick response from owners, clean and modern (super duper clean by European standards), safe, lockers with chip, incredibly comfortable bed, quiet neighborhood and mature guests. CONS-a bit far away from city center, the automatic lights and shower were incredibly annoying, no 24 hour staff, water from the shower goes outside the cabin, can hear everything that goes on in the common room, not enough hooks, could use a bench in the room, and a shower caddy in the cabin, guests were mainly migrant workers so don’t expect to make friends to do tourist stuff with, room was cold in the morning. OVERALL, I really enjoyed my stay at Petit Hostel, but I’m deducting 2 stars because of too many CONS for the price point. Because of the issue of not being able to get a bottom bunk (my fault since I didn’t think about it beforehand) even though there was an empty bottom bed for a few days in my room. Because I was put under the very uncomfortable situation of having to deal directly with roommates who decided to get intimate while I was in the room and who brought alcohol with them...in such an instant it would have been great to have a member of the staff present. And because despite the fact that I had to use my towel to dry up the floor from the water running outside of the shower cabin everytime someone showered, the owners wanted me to pay 5 euros for a new towel. With a few improvements, this hostel could easily be a 5 star one. Thank you :) UPDATE: After my bad review I was offered and shown a new room despite the fact that before that I was told that nothing could be done....but I found the new room to be rather messy and dirty (not the fault of the cleaner but rather the occupants) and considering the difference in price between the 4 and 6 rooms, I thought I'd stick to the one I already have. I did almost fall off while going up and down the bed, but I'm trying to be careful as much as I can. However, I asked for a new towel since I had to use the one I had to wipe up the floor outside of the shower cabin after it got filled with water post-shower, and even though I was told "of course" at first, after I refused to change my unfavorable review, it became "it'll be 5 euros" which is very unfortunate. My review was honest and based on the events of the day; I find it unprofessional to be asked for my review to be edited and then to make me pay for something I was at first offered just because I refused to change my review. On a positive note, I find the hostel to be overall clean and modern looking and the bed super comfy which is a big plus for them. The employees are also nice and courteous and the company is quick to respond which is another big plus. But as said before my previous review is based on my impression of the day and on the fact that despite there being an empty bottom bed in the room for two nights, I was still told that I couldn't use it, which I still don't understand why since it's not occupied.

The rooms were quite decent at a very affordable price and the location is excellent, 15 minutes on foot from the touristic center of the city. However, beware that if you get a room located right next to the common room, you won't be able to sleep disturbed by the rude and loud guests. In our case, we could hear them talk loud until 4 am.

I wish I could give more stars. The staff is good. Everything is done with technology, so they don't have to manage it, but in the end you feel like a number. They assume you have internet to check in outside, then if you need help even in day time they arent there it takes long time for them to come. Took me 40 minutes to check in. The rooms feel hot and the windows are locked. Lights turns on at 9am for no reason. Doors mechanism for our room is noisy.

Great place and friendly staff. I loved how the technology integrates into the experience. The bed was super comfy and the locker was big enough. Great deal for the price I think. Great place to get some sleep before a flight. Just wish they had a bigger kitchen like many hostels I’ve visited. Hope to be back.

Excellent location and a very good price. The beds are comfortable with nice curtains and a large storage lockers. The lounge is small with a fridge, microwave, kettle and minimal dishes (only one bowl) and practically no cutlery. The staff only work from 10am as most processes are automated.

Pretty good Hostal in La Latina with the metro station at around 10 min walking that can get you to Sol or Atocha really quick. The rooms are quite cramped and the first night it was hot as there where some issues with the a/c but after talking with them they fixed it and the other nights were alright, beds are ok, not the best but good to sleep, you have a curtain for some privacy and the toilet is pretty clean, the shower works well and has hot water but not for too long.

From the beginning the attitude of the administration was awful. No Hello No welcome. Just left us standing alone to check in with the machine outside on the street at night after our flight. Clean rooms but no one to help with broken light in the shower and the cold conditioner in the room. I would not recommend this hostel for a comfortable and lovely stay in Madrid. Also, it was for double three price because of the holidays...(

extraordinary concept. small, efficient, cheap! and in Madrid’s coolest neighbourhood. only one problem… i didn’t see anything on airbnb about an age limit, and had to lie (egregiously) in order to check in. had a lovely time with my young roommates notwithstanding -;)

  • 4/5 Daniel Moreno F. 5 months ago on Google
The hostel has new infrastructure (matresses,...) and the price&location are very convenient. I have just had an issue by which the day before check-in I asked whether I could leave my bag in the early morning and then do the check-in later at 15:00, which they agreed for. The morning of the day I was gonna stay at the hostel I went there at around 10am and the person from the hostel told me they don't have that service (which they agreed for upfront) and gave me an alternative to store it but with the condition to do the check-in between 15:00 and 15:30, else I couldn't retrieve the bag until 20:00. I think those things needs to be explained upfront. If it wasn't because of that, it would have been a 5 star.

It was an okay hostel but everything is complicated. The check-in took me some quite time. There are no available staff when I arrived and it was after 19.00. I had big luggage and I had to book online. There are three ways to check in - using your QR/Last Name/Reference Number. QR and Reference Number did not work for me while Last Name would prompt that the bed is still being cleaned when it was already past 19.00. Thus, I had to request for help. The scanning had trouble scanning my ID and did not recognize the details so I had to type everything manually - which then pushed me to use my passport instead. The room was okay and clean but for me the room is not spacious but enough. It is true it is difficult to open a luggage since there is not much space to spread out your luggage without using your bed. I hate the automatic light system but I support the sustainable goal out of using this system. However- in the toilet, the lights turn off quickly while I am still having my concentration, you would not expect me to dance while doing my toilet business. Some rooms could be noisy, when I was statying at 200s, I could hear people screaming and playing loud music beside. So, do reach out to the hostel and they would take care of these things.

This hostel was Awesome! I very much enjoyed my stay there, the staff person I met was so friendly and welcoming! It was a very nice little hostel and I very much enjoyed the shower, it was roomy and water was good. For me location was good too, I walked about an hour out of Madrid into a cool park on a hill, definitely worth it and on the way stopped for some cool croissants. I recommend here. There isn’t curtains on the bed frame but if you want you can just hang up a sheet easily on the bed frame, it’s what some people did👍

This was my first experience staying in a hostel, and I really had no complaints. The staff were friendly, helpful, multi-lingual, and there at most points in the day, although not 24/7. Although the lounge was small, it was a cozy place to hang out in, and I spent a decent amount of time there. The bed was small, but comfortable. The lockers, although sometimes sorta difficult to access, were very large and worked well. I was easily able to store my large suitcase and two large backpacks. At one my point in my stay, I lost my card, and luckily there was a staff person there that helped me get a new key card immediately. Probably they only complaint I have is that they have a playlist of about 15 songs that they play on repeat in the lounge. Really just a small nitpick though.

I didn't have a good experience with this hostel, especially the customer service. The check-in is guaranted 24/7 but the check-in automate didn't work when I came at 1AM. The assistance on a phone couldn't help, and the staff which came after 1-2 hours couldn't help neither. It was her first week at the work and she was not able to do the check-in on the automate as well, she let me in but could not give me the card from my room not even a towel and bed linings! From the time I came it took like 4-5 hours before I could take a shower and go to bed! In the morning the stuff was sorry about my experience and promised to send me an email with some compensation, but hey never did so (now it is ca 2 months).

A great place. Jacopo besides being super helpful was able to show his smile thru his mask. The place was kept clean and neat despite a lot of folks going in and out. The cleaning folks did a great job keeping the place clean daily. Keep a euro handi for the downstairs lockers (for backpack size stuff). Wonderful experience.

It was a professional place. You check in yourself, get your own key card, almost don't need a person at all to help you. However, there is a person there to help you if you don't understand anything. The top bunk beds were kind of high, but if you are worried about covid that's not a bad thing.

Fraud! Avoid this place. I had a complaint about some stuff. After they did not reply for 12 hours, I was angry and admit that I got unfriendly, but not offensive or insulting. After that the hostel decided to kick me out and denied a refund, even though I had payed two nights in advance. They charged me for a night that they did not let me stay. The managers declined talking to me on the phone, all communication was through their receptionist. Police was informed and a lawsuit is made. Don't come here.

I had a great time at the Petit Hostel in Madrid, I was looking for a nice place to stay while looking for an house and it was the best! Very clean, the people are welcoming and they helped me in checking in and checking out, always having a nice chat. The common area is really nice, I love that you can have coffee looking at the street of Madrid and I really loved the design of everything :) I would advice it to everyone :)

Stayed here at the beginning of November, nice place, clean, the machine at the entrance for the check in is easy to use, spacious bathroom, the actual room a bit small for 4 persons but for a short stay was okay, top bunk bed quiet high but perfect to have more privacy, as well didn't fell from it so that's a good thing The only thing that bothered were the lights that turned on when someone moved around the room, especially during the night. Overall would recommend this place, as it's not far from the city center and easy to be located, in case will decide to visit Madrid again, most probably will be staying here.
