BUY TICKETS ONLINE! Will save you 15-30 minutes lining up. There is a separate counter for online tickets when you arrive. Lots of cool exhibits. Very simple layout - 4 exhibits in a straight line. Could spend as little as 1 hour here, up to 4 hours, depending how thoroughly you want to read the exhibits and learn about things. There’s also a special Amazonias exhibit right now, but all in Portuguese.

Online booking and tickets required. They don't sell ticket in-stores. The museum is indeed futuristic and interactive and divided into 2 parts. The lower floor is about the Amazon and the upper floor focuses on the human aspects and artifacts. Make sure to prepare your vaccination certificates/ID

Exhibits are mostly audiovisual or screen-interactive. It's a series of halls/movies/structures that deals with different aspects of exploitation of the earth and future scenarios. I though too "earth focussed" and not enough on inter-planetary futures...so more of a doomsday prediction. Building is amazing and the technology of log-in and exhibits is good. Note: visits on TUESDAYS are FREE

Great museum, and great architecture! Especially the sunset is amazing at the waterfront! Only downside is that you must purchase your ticket online, even if already at the museum. You need to register on multiple pages and for us the payment page in the end did just not work…

From outside it looks epic, the inside is a waste of space. Random and disorganized information of grammar school level plus exhibitions on how humans are bad for the environment. So how did building this massive pointless structure help the environment exactly?

Visually stunning museum with a short permanent exposition about mankind, where we come from and where we're going. I can't recommend it enough. There isn't that much to read and the exposition itself was shorter than expected. But it was very impactful to me at least, considering that mankind's future is kind of a big topic right now. It makes you think about lots of things.

Very cool place. And if you want a nice photo there are some friendly photographers outside who will take a picture for you and print or email it to you right away. The area around is very safe and it’s a great place to walk around . Take a walk around some of the historical sites nearby and the naval base also . Then get your pics here and take a look inside . Fantastic!

A well-maintained museum that aside from the beautiful architecture, offers a lot in its main exhibit showcasing the progression of human progress up until the current times and the anthropological impact that humans have had on the earth. They provide these Iris cards that help provide translations and make one's experience more interactive and meaningful. One of my favorite live sculptures is called Flows, an air fountain installation by Daniel Wurtzel. I would recommend spending 1-2 hours here. Tickets should be bought online in advance for a timed entry, but they can also be bought at the front desk. There's also a coat check room as well! Note that they have water filling stations, free Wifi, and clean bathrooms.

I have not been inside it but the architecture is incredible, nice view and a great place for an amazing picture. If you have enough time the Casa do Saulo restaurant is a place you must go (it is attached to the museum)

The museum itself is a nice building, although smaller than I thought it would be. The exhibition is also okay, not amazing. I would say it is worth the while to visit, but that’s about it. Great landmark and pictures though.

This was one of the coolest museums I have ever been too. It was set up in a nice linear way, which personally I love. I hate a museum thats a confusing maze like the Natural History in NYC. But this flowed very well and had so much information and a super cool sphere projector room that plays a short film. I learned a lot hear and it was definitely at top must see in Rio.

Excellent museum with inspiring exhibits and informative interactive tablets to read more through the museum. The architecture is stunning and worth a visit just to see it along with the views of the sea. Make sure to get and register a card. Made it easy to update each exhibit to English and recorded what you’ve read and learned about so far.

It's a very interesting museum and with a new conception. There's a lot of science involved and accessibility as well. This is certainly a place to visit with family! The beautiful view is also a plus, enjoy it!

Fantastic place to pass the afternoon. Interesting exhibits; strong narrative; engaging topics; beautiful architecture. Overall, the place to spend a long (rainy) afternoon. Do note much of the interactive elements are touch based -- not ideal during covid.

It is a really really nice museum. It tries to make us be awared of climate change. It is a really really important topic. We are completley destroying our planet, and this museum gives us the facts that yo need if you don't beleive in climate change. If you are in Rio, please go. It is a must.

We were so excited to go here but what a let down. First the line to get in was about an hour and fifteen minutes. They only had one ticket person working selling tickets. Once your in there is not much going on inside or to see. I have to say the architecture is beyond they have done an amazing job but that's the outside. Take you pics outside and leave don't waist your money or time to go inside.

I was convinced that the very first exhibit would ask me to scan a QR code and that my phone would then guide me around in perfect English. Or Japanese. Or whatever. It IS the museum of tomorrow, after all You are given a card called IRIS at the entry. This failed at the first hurdle as the IRIS registration process shows only Portuguese, even though the signs saying 'tap your card here' are in English. No option to change language. It would be so easy to offer in multiple languages... Off to Cosmos instead.....terrific 360degree video only in Portuguese. There is an announcement that a transcript can be downloaded from the website but is so quick that the address cannot be read. Shame it was not shown to people waiting in the queue- we could have been ready. Lots of other stuff. The dancing fabric is wonderful. The giant screens with planetary effects are very thought provoking. As you get further in the exhibits get better but never beyond the simplistic and over dramatic until the chill out lounge and wonderful music by Mark McGuire But what a wasted opportunity! The very first thing should be ... Tap card....say which language...card is tracked and all further taps result in your language being shown on all screens. this was built for the Olympics and is about the future?? Oh dear. Wonderful building , by the way. Also free for over 60s... Good job or I would ask for a refund.

A-M-A-Z-I-N-G No other words to describe this museum, so different from anything else. It tells the brutal truth about how our planet will change (better say collapse?) if we don’t start acting differently at global level, reducing our carbon footprint and downsizing our lifestyle and our needs. All students in the world should visit it and this museum/exhibition should be replicated in every Country in the World.

Amazing. Well located. It's a nice place to be with family, friends or by yourself. Take your time to see the fixed presentations but itinerary either. Landscape outside is beautiful (baia de Guanabara, Ponte Rio Niterói and others). There are an external restaurant if you just wanna eat and admire the landscape. On Thursday is free but normally is totally crowded. It's necessary to buy the tickets before by internet

It’s an amazing museum of science and our earth. You can choose the language from English, Portuguese and Spanish for all activities. They have several experiential learning devices. It’s quite worth to visit there if you go to Rio de Janeiro. But if there is possibility to be crowded, it’s better to avoid going because you need to wait a long time to do their experience learning.

This is a pretty cool modern museum that has all exhibits and multiple language including English. It cost 30 Rayeles per adult to enter. And then you can look at the different video exhibits this is more about video and seeing and not intricate exhibits with a whole bunch of signs you have to stand and read. There are also some vendors right outside you can buy beer and water and a venda area that you can buy souvenirs as well.

This museum makes selective charges but the majority of people were admitted free. The building's design is beautifully airy and is a pleasure to explore. There isn't a great deal to see and explore so a visit with children could be completed within an hour but if they could be persuaded to sit and look then it could be so much longer. Several rooms are dedicated to different ecosystems and the equatorial forest is section is absorbing. It really makes you feel as if you are sat in the jungle. Kids particularly enjoyed the magnified insects.

Very interesting museum with several activities to see and interact. Even though I must admit that they probably should invest in more devices to interact as there are a lot of people visiting the museum and the wait can be rather long sometimes (20-25min). But definitely worth a visit

While the museum itself is a stunning piece of architecture, the real treat is inside! The first floor held an exhibition on the amazon and its wildlife and tribesmen. It was extremely informative and display beautiful articles of clothing and video of their culture. The second floor was my personal favourite. Without spoiling too much, you watch a 360° video and then get to experience a number of different exhibitions about the earths natural beauty. There was 1 of these exhibitions that stood out, I wish i could post a video to show it. There are no words to describe the sheer beauty of art and creativity in this piece. Completely unique, unlike anything ive seen before. I stayed watching for nearly an hour. 10/10 would visit again.

This museum was an amazing experience. The exhibitions were very high quality and were very well executed. It didn’t take us long to get in once we arrived. But there’s a little wait for some of the exhibits.

This scientific museum has a very unique design. The permanent display has a very cool round cinema, and many interactive exhibits one the world. The temporary exhibit downstairs was on the Amazon, and the people who live there.

  • 5/5 Carolina C. 2 years ago on Google
Absolutely stunning museum, full of interactive displays and a very powerful message. A must see is the Earth is Dynamic exhibition in the permanent part, where you see the four elements interacting in a beautiful dance represented by a thin fabric. The staff is soooo nice and supportive, a shout out to Caua Albuquerque who took the time to explain the exhibitions and hidden treasures of the museum! Edit: only thing I would change would be to remove the photography in the end of the visit. The museum talks a lot about ecological changes but prints hundreds of photos with no need!

After the rally annoying entrance (why do i have to buy tickets online, and give them all my personal data i mean yes it feels like the future now, but it's just annoying), you will have a really great location, and have lots of stuff to read and see and games to play, the interactivity is great and the architecture is awesome

Great Museum. If you really want to immerse yourself in the exhibition, you will need a full day for it. It blends historical and contemporary sciences in an interactive way using multi media methods of delivery. A fantastic experience and I applaud those involved in organising the exhibition

  • 5/5 Alex 1 year ago on Google
A surprisingly fun visit. There's a lot of focus on climate and our current and future impact on it but my favorite exhibit was the room with all the pictures grouped together by a theme. So you'd have something like 'family' or 'creativity' and pictures from around the world highlighting how people, or the things people create, fit into the theme. Overall, it was really interesting and worth visiting!

  • 5/5 Anastasia N. 1 year ago on Google
Awesome museum with an actual concept. The exhibition makes to think about personal responsibility for the world's future. The space inside is a mix of modern art, scientific information and a digital museum. It tells the story of our planet and us and raises the question of whether we have a future with current trends. This museum is not boring and will be interesting for children too.

  • 5/5 Ovidiu M. 11 months ago on Google
Design - iconic. Location - spectacular, exhibits - wonderful. Sadly, several people on the staff seem confused and it took us 20 minutes to leave the museum at the end. we were asked to go back, then, circle around, then go back again, then to wait in a long line for an elevator. The management has to Instruct everybody that customers need to be better served and guided, with a little more respect.

Simply fantastic. This is a must-go to the moment your plane (or bus whatever) arrives in Rio. Clouds and rain certainly do not fit into our imagination of what the "Carioca dream" should be. Do not worry though because once you visit this museum you won't worry about it anymore since the exhibition is so absorbing and memorable. As the museum's name already tells the main exhibition is about the future, our future. It is a wake-up call in the best style. The restaurant afterward is a plus you cannot miss. La creme de la creme. Simply amazing

Even though you might be thinking about this place, I highly recommend you to go and have the experience there, a plus is that OK Tuesdays it's for free (there are also other free museums in Rio for free on Tuesdays) Inside it all the architecture and design you'll find is outstanding. I loved this place so much

A unique and mesmerizing architecture. The view of this place along with the glistening water of the sea during the daytime is simply indescribable. A meetup place for locals and a landing area for seafarers like me who wants to go ashore to relieve stress. A cacophony of local laughter, vendor hawkings, waves splashing, and leaves bristles will calm your mind.

I really liked it. The architecture is amazing. Entrance fee ia 20 BRL. Inside three are 5 or 6 exhibits. The 1st is the main attraction where the"movie" is projected to sphere room and it feels like it surrounds you. Be in the front of the quite so then you can lie down on the floor to the pillows. Only Brazilian, no English subs but it is better, subs would destroy the experience. You can download the English transcript from the museum website. I spent here around an hour counting on the time when I went around the building outside as well.

Although the name evokes thoughts of science fiction and world's fair, this museum is created around a very different kind of tomorrow - one that is more probable. The museum tackles the issue of Earth's limited resources - and what we must do to sustain and evolve. Beautiful architecture and creative exhibits serve to enhance the impact. Don't miss this one. #vero #travel #brazil

This place is a must while in Rio. It's a great insight into the world we live in from past, present and what potential future we have if we carry on treating the world how we do. It has loads of information on the screens and can be a little overwhelming. Make sure you don't go there hungry or in a rush. You can easily spend a few hours taking it all in and learning. It's certainly thought provoking and insightful.
