Plenty of nature with rural and not much developed villages. Plenty of interesting sites like beautiful waterfall or nerow gorges, but requires a lot of walk. Some sites might be 16km away so for moderate hiking lovers this is ideal place to spend a day. Have in mind that roads can be in highly challenging state. Not for large vehicles like buses. Must be careful for sudden stones or holes at road especially when crossing small bridges.

Forget "must see" and "must visit", this should be on the bucket list for anyone living within a 500km radius. Absolutely phenomenal, with so many attractions and places to visit. I've been there five times so far and plan on going many more times.

If you really want to relax yourself and enjoy mother nature and her treasures, do visit "Stara planina"! You will never forget the forests the green, the parfume of fresh herbs and grass. You can also meet all kinds of animals. Last time we saw the green river crab in Toplodolska river, lots of protected fish and rare birds. This plase is called "Ogorelica" and it's perfect for a picnick and rifreshing moments in the river!

(Translated by Google) Stara planina or Balkan planina (Bulgarian: Стара планина or Balkan planina), belongs to the system of Balkan mountains that stretch from the Black Sea in the east, all the way to Vrška čuka in the west. The length of this mountain system is 530 km. Stara Planina is mostly located in Bulgaria, and to a much lesser extent in southeastern Serbia. The highest point of Stara Planina is the peak of Botev (2376 m) in Bulgaria, and Midzor (2169 m) in Serbia. Stara planina is 330 km away from Belgrade, 70 km from Nis, 100 km from Zajecar, 50 km from Knjazevac or Pirot. This mountain is part of a vast mountain range called the Carpathian-Balkan mountain arch. Only a small western part of it is located in Serbia. The entire territory of the Stara Planina and its foothills is composed of Torlak, and the eastern half is called Visok (formerly Visočki srez). [5] As a morphological unit, it is bordered by the valleys of Beli and Trgoviški Timok, and Visočica, [2] and in the east it is bordered by the state border of Serbia and Bulgaria. [3] In the meridian direction, it stretches for almost 100 km, while in the comparative direction of extension, the maximum length is about 30 km (Pirot Valley-Silver Head). In the north, the massif of Stara planina starts from the slopes of Vrška čuka (692 m above sea level). Part of the Stara Planina in Serbia regionally belongs to Eastern Serbia, and administratively covers the territories of four municipalities, Zajecar, Knjazevac, Pirot and Dimitrovgrad. The mountain massif of Stara planina consists of Zaglavka and Visoka, dominated by Trgoviški and Beli Timok, ie Visocica and Toplodolska river.

It's a Park of nature, not yet a National park. Still, it's beautiful, rich and diverse. Place you should see. Take just nice memory and leave no garbage, please. Honour local culture and do not disturb local people. They have right to live their beautiful traditions for their own and our sake. We should cherish appreciation for both natural and cultural heritage of Stara Planina

(Translated by Google) Unlike Kopaonik, incomparably fewer visitors, thus safer for excursions. Nature is equally beautiful. Be sure to take the gondola ride, the view is fantastic. Clean air, untouched nature, all recommendations. (Translated by Google) Beautiful nature and beautiful Zavojsko Lake, but unarranged access to the beach. Unfortunately, even here, the stay of uncultured individuals began to leave consequences on nature in the form of bottles floating on the surface of the lake or on the shore, as well as piles of garbage in improvised camps.

One of the most beautiful regions of Serbia. You need to be there. Pictures and words are not enough to express the Park's magic. Make sure you eat at Vitina Iža, and Kod Piroćanca.

The ski resorts are doing their job ok, the only drawback is that they don't have toilets on the slopes. Affordable ski pass. Beautiful for children. Any recommendation (Original) Prelep kraj, dobri ljudi, ekstra ski mesto, skroz pristojne cene hrane i pića.
