If you go on a weekday, it'll be a lot less crowded. When we went, some of the rides were closed, which was disappointing, but still a great experience. Lots of trees and benches so you don't really spend the whole day in the sun. The food was great! Large variety and reasonably priced. The cafe has AC, a nice selection of food and desserts, restrooms, and the people working in there were fantastic. The general park staff was awesome! Very friendly and accommodating to our special needs guest. Ample parking, both a free and a paid lot that was only $12 for the day. The arcade was small but inexpensive and the kids really enjoyed it. If you have a special need, go to Guest Services and ask for a free Disability Pass. It covers you and 3 other people riding with you. If your kid likes Thomas The Tank Engine, they will LOVE Thomas Town! (No additional charge for TT). The park also has ticket packages and season passes available.

Been going here since I was a kid. I highly recommend getting the season pass before the summer. They go on sale and there are different levels. You get a free refillable cup with the pass. And it pays itself off after the second visit. The one we got also get you in for October events and the Christmas events. During the week the park does close early like 8pm. It definitely has gotten pricey over the years. The games are pretty expensive. There are lockers there if you need one. We went on a day that looked like it was gonna rain and it turned out to be the perfect day. Lines for rides were very short. And it wasn't too hot.

Our family travels about 1 1/2 hrs to come to Kennywood once a year because this truly is a great family park! It is so clean here, the staff are very nice, and the food is actually very delicious and full of flavor!! Potato Fries are the BOMB!! The games here are very kid friendly too! Our 4 yr old granddaughter actually won her own prize! Thanks Kennywood for being a family oriented park! You will always have our vote! ❤️

I love Kennywood. I didn't even grow up going to Kennywood or living in Pennsylvania, but Kennywood has such a nostalgic feel to it. On the day I visited, a Monday in July, the ride lines weren't too long for the non-coaster rides. I personally don't enjoy roller coasters, but I did notice the longest lines were for the bigger coasters such as Racer and Thunderbolt. The park was generally not too busy. Plenty of shady areas are available throughout the park to take a break from the summer heat. I was happy to see the addition of Millie's Ice Cream since my last visit to the park a few years ago. The grounds looked clean and neatly manicured on the day of my visit.

This is Pittsburgh's prime amusement park. Most of the rides are extremely fun while others are neglected. The Steel Curtain is supposed to be the park's flagship roller coaster but it has been plagued with problems since it opened. I wish I was able to ride it. It seems like it would be a lot of fun. That said, for now, my favorite ride is the Black Widow with the Phantom's Revenge at a close second.

We had tickets to the holiday lights. We went on a weekday during the day and my kids had an absolute blast. There were no crowds so my kids go to ride rides over and over with no wait. It was a fantastic experience and everyone was so kind. We parked in the free parking lot and the walk to the park wasn’t bad at all providing you’re able to walk a large flight of stairs. There’s an escalator but it wasn’t in operation when we were there.

They have a great selection of rides for all ages. I really enjoyed the time the spent on making Thomas town a believable thing. The kids loved the show and the girl doing it was awesome.

Good for Pittsburgh. Took kids ranging from 2 to 10 and they all had fun. The park was noticably understaffed. Also, I understand they have a captive audience, but $10 for a hot dog? Don't they think that at $4, they may only make 1/3 as much but maybe sell 5 times more? There are fast food restaurants right outside the gate. Also, bought a $5 soda and they didn't even offer a lid. Lots of rides down without notice and the park is definitely showing it's age. The admission prices were much lower than a lot of other parks and the park has some serious roller coasters that are a big draw. Overall, we had a fun time. Finding employees is hard now, but we interacted with several employees that obviously did not take any pride in their jobs or the park. There were some really good ones too, the uninspired ones did detract from the experience.

Kennywood is a great amusement park. They've got an awesome collection of classic, modern flat rides and roller coasters. My favorite ride was Phantom's Revenge, an Arrow/Morgan hyper coaster. Morgan turned a painful looping coaster into this airtime machine. Awesome! The park's classic woodies are also great, they run very smoothly and all even offer some surprising forces. The best of the three being Thunderbolt. Some of those drops are punchy. Exterminator was one of the better wild mice I've been on. Ghostwood Estate was great but very short. Skyrocket was fine. Did nothing after the first few elements. But it was good fun. And before I wrap up my review. Highly recommend the Potato Patch loaded fries with bacon and cheese. It's heaven, and this is coming from someone who hates potatoes. So to wrap things up. Kennywood is worth visiting, even if you're not from Pittsburgh. It's a high quality place with many fun rides. A fair warning, the lines can be pretty dang slow. Especially the lines for Exterminator and Phantom's Revenge.

We went to the Halloween thing and we had a wonderful time. It was lovely... not too cold, not too many people. Everybody that worked there was super nice and friendly. I can't wait to go back! My family is in love as well with kennywood lol

Kennywood is absolutely amazing. All kinds of things to do. Lots and lots of great rides. They have some outstanding roller coasters. There's also a lot of other things to do as well. Lots of good restaurants, gift shops, and games. It's just a fun place to spend the day. I would recommend that people try it for sure. I've driven all the way to Pittsburgh from Cincinnati solely to go to this park twice.

I've been to Kennywood more times than I can count, but I hadn't been to Holiday Lights. Well we decided to go this week on a day it finally stopped raining. Let me tell you we had a blast! We rode the rides, ate some great food and really enjoyed the lights. We even bought some items at the gift shop that were 75% off. Highly Recommended, Great Time! My only complaint was that the "Lucky Stand" wasn't open and we couldn't get a corn dog to go with our Potato Patch Fries! But delicious as always!

There is so much to share in regard to Kennywood this year. I bought season passes for my son and me. We had been going all summer, then Fright Night and this weekend Holiday Lights. First and foremost, For the love of all things good, PLEASE do something in regards to entering the parking lot. It should not take over an hour to turn left into the parking lot. You have people directing traffic right when you enter and so much security, why cant you have someone directing traffic off the main street by thr lights?!? There are NO left turning lanes bor does the light allow traffic to turn and it backs up traffuc for a good couple of miles. Your guest relation employee Gretchen... They really need to move this woman where she doesn't deal with the public, especially with people who have disabilities. She was mean and rude to not only me, to my son who has autism. She believes everyone lies about having a disability even when I offered to show medical papers to get a pass for him. Moving on to employees. This year, the majority of workers just looked like they hated their life! It didn't matter if they were food or games or rides, misery filled the park. The park had issues with main rides being down. Food...as any amusement park, expect it to be high. But when a bowl of Cheft salad at the Pizza Wagon cost $15 vs. an individual flatbread pizza with fries, costs $13, there is a big problem. The bowl was the same size as a dill pickle. I've added a picture. They NEED more healthier options and better quality and portions for the price. Bring a sandwich to help you in-between so you don't go broke. They need water bottle filling stations. I don't even know if they have a quiet area to desensitize if needing to. I love that security is there. However, for Fright Night where you don't allow bags in, you need to make the "box" a little bigger. I have a very small purse that holds my wallet, key, phone, and glasses, that is it, and it would not fit in their little box. But then you see families with multiple bags in their wagons and strollers because they have children. Other than that, we enjoyed most times we visited. We try not to go on busy days or holidays because of traffic/parking issues and overcrowding. We bring our own food if we can and try to ignore miserable people. I have added some pictures from this weekend Holidays Lights and of the $15 salad vs a pickle spear cut in half.

One of the best dates I've ever been on! It's Kennywood x1000. All the lights are beautiful, you can still ride the jackrabbit, and it really feels like Christmas here! Honestly I'm sad I've never had the chance to experience this until now, I will be back every year. It's a little cold but you can sit down to eat and get some warmth back, as well as they have souvenir hot drinks & a giant bonfire to keep you cozy. There are music shows put on for the kids and some amazing photo ops as well 💖

This was my family's first trip ever to Kennywood. We were extremely excited. The rides themselves were great of which was open, food was great. They need to somehow let the public a few days in advance on which rides will be closed, many were closed. The workers were ABSOLUTELY terrible!! We ate and shopped at around 10 stores/shops. 9/10 workers No greeting at all. Or when the food was ready, just hand you what you got, not saying "Thank You" or "have a Good day" or nothing. Most seemed like they didn't want to be there. That's on the food/gift shop side. The rides, especially Kiddie land. Keep in mind, this is our 1st time. Some of the rides, look like things go up and down on their own or spray on their own. Every single worker we encountered did NOT give us/my 3 year old any instructions on how to make things move/spray etc. No labels on buttons or levers, might have helped also. Several workers complained on the Fire ride in Kiddie land or Thomas Land because they had to keep kids on and off from the hose gates. They kept complaining about the latches ( the workers). I get it, it's warm and all that but they clearly didn't wanna be there and were a good experience for my 3 year old daughter. Yes she was safe and came home safe but the workers gotta get it together!!

One huge plus- lots of shade! We were here on a Sunday in early June, arrived a little after 4pm. Line to purchase tickets seemed long, so maybe purchasing them online would be the way to go. Lines for the rides weren’t too bad but we could have used an extra hour or two to get to more rides. We got onto 4 rides. I would definitely return and recommend this place.

Absolutely charming park of historical note, featuring numerous rare or one of a kind vintage rides, plus more modern attractions. Guests are welcome to bring in food to have their own picnics. Wonderful place to immerse yourself for a day of fun.

Been going to Kennywood for over 40 years. Beautiful family park. Prices are in line with other amusement parks. Food is great and the park is well maintained. Enter through security at the front gate, through the tunnel and the family fun begins. The park staff and security team's priority is for your family to have great time and create those memories.

Very nice family theme park. Not crowded, very short lines. Not sure why but loved it. Given it's 5th of July it's supposedly summer time. My son was a little lazy to take rides, we just end up strolling around. Weather is nice too, a little humid but a little cold breeze comes from time to time. Overall the park is really good for family and kids who loves rides.

The food was awful the fries were dry, burnt and hard. They did not fill the containers up all the way. The cheese sauce was 1.79 and they did not even fill the cup up. The total bill was 22.44. The chicken tenders and fries were room temperature not hot. The haunts we were able to go through were good.

I love coming to Kennywood. It's been a summer staple my entire life. They have some of the oldest (and best) wooden coasters in the country and the atmosphere is much more enjoyable than the large and overwhelming crowds you see at bigger amusement parks. The longest line you will most likely wait in is for The Exterminator but it's also my favorite ride at the park so I will happily wait. You are aloud to bring in coolers which is really nice if you are making a day out of being there. But even if you do, make sure you hit up the Potato Patch Fries!

Spent a day at Kennywood. Had come as a kid and once as young adult, but last visit was more than 25 years ago. The park had changed a lot, but it is still great. The park is definitely family friendly. A great mix of old and new roller coasters. The lines were not too long. The Steel Curtain was a great ride. A great amusement park.

First things first, free spacious parking is at 'parking B' off the Kennywood, that is you can see the Steelers- roller coaster on opposite side of the road. Do not pay extra and go for a reserved parking or pay parking A. It's a waste of money. Kennywood amusement park has a nice set of children's rides, adult's rides and also infant rides. One can check the website to identify the intensity of the rides and take part in those rides. When we went the Steelers ride was shut down which was disappointing. Otherwise, we enjoyed each and every ride in the park, especially Black widow and more of such intense rides. Their speedy pass is a sham program through which they want the users to buy their premium passes and yet wait in the queue at the entrance of the cars/cabin, basically the line management guys would ask you to step inside the gate and yet make you wait in the cabin where people are waiting to get onto the rides. I hope the management is listening to customers, we do not want to pay extra and wait to get on to the cars. Almost all the roller coaster rides have this problem. Instead, people should buy seasonal passes and visit multiple times in a year. We as a family with infant was put under severe pressure because of this in spite of buying speedy pass. Ultimately, we all come here to enjoy our day, right?

My family had a great time. My kids and I could probably eat the mozzarella half moons all day! My suggestions would be a larger sign showing that a shuttle service was available for the level 3 parking lot. Another would be adding more light or security to the walking path so it feels a little more safer after dark. Other than that we enjoy visiting Kennywood.

Haven’t been here for 7 years but not much has changed. The Steelers rollercoaster was down and from what I’ve heard that’s the norm. It was still a little disappointing to not have another coaster to ride since the number is limited. It was nice though that the black widow was up and running again. It wasn’t supposed to be for at least the rest of week so that was a surprise. This is definitely a park more centered towards a younger audience so for the people interested in thrill seeking, the most scary rides will be the black widow and the phantom; that’s about it. My partner and I shared fries and got two fountain drinks which ended up being about $24. We felt full because you get a good amount of fries. The waits were not bad at all and we went on a Friday so I definitely recommend going that day if you can’t make any other week day. The only thing I didn’t like at all was the old mill ride. It used to be the Garfield ride but they changed it and to be honest it’s plain boring now. I know it’s just a boat ride and that they gotta change things up but it used to be so much more interesting when it was Garfield themed.

Purchased a season pass. It pays for itself after a few visits. Given a souvenir cup for free refills in the park each visit. Great rides!! The day was beautiful and the lines were not particularly long. Did have abbreviated hours...closed at 7pm. Not a problem...Got to ride everything we wanted.

The Holiday Lights at Kennywood were amazing! We go in the Summer a lot with the kids, but this was our first time doing the holiday lights. About 8 main park rides open, all of Thomas Town, and almost all of Kiddieland. The lights were beautiful, the train exhibit was impressive, and the tree was impressive! I highly recommend this if you can go!

We were visiting our son, daughter-in-law and five young grandchildren. Their ages were 3,5,7, and nine with two of them being seven. We took them to Kennywood for the day so the kids could have some fun and boy did they. We never heard about Kennywood and it was amazing! we were there from 11 to 8:00 PM and what a full fun day we had. I recommend everybody going to Kennywood at least one time in their life. Even if they live in California because it was amazing prices for food war in really not bad at all with the prices of everything these days. but you do go to a huge amusement park and when you spend the whole day there, do expect to spend some amount of money. I think total with nine of us with tickets and food we spent about $600.

First day for us of the 2023 season. We have season passes we activated preseason. Glad we did because there was a line that seemed at least 1 hr long to get your new passes. Since we got to skip that line we went through security and bag check and straight into the park. No printed maps that I'm aware of you just need to use your phone or the maps around the park. Kennywood has two kids areas... Kiddie land and a Thomas the tank engine themed area. One would be great, but having both is amazing. Since we did this first thing after getting to the park around 11am on a Saturday we were able to get straight on all the kiddie rides we wanted with next to no line. My little one is five and 42 inches so she's just tall enough to do some of the bigger rides too. At Kennywood you can bring in a small, soft cooler bag per person. You can bring a wagon or stroller, you can bring a single water bottle per person. We packed snacks but didn't eat since we left after a few hours when it started getting busy.

Awesome place!!!! The folks that work there are really friendly and helpful. Pricing is good. The rides are really cool and accommodate everyone in the family from small to big. The vibe is a combination of ol' school and new. Has a boardwalk feel w many boardwalk games n arcades. Definitely going back!!!!

I heard bad reviews, and I'm glad I disregarded them. More than a few rides were open, and there were many interactive activities, especially children based ones. Kennywood makes all the seasons of Pittsburgh fun! Kennywoods Holiday lights are more than worth checking out.

Park is clean & coasters are excellent. Wait times for rides weren't terrible, basically what one would expect at any amusement park. We had a very positive experience.

  • 4/5 Phyllis H. 9 months ago on Google
This is a good amusement park for thrill seekers and little kids, but there are only a handful of "in between" rides scatterd throughout the park. So, if you have an older child, teen, or adult who isn't into roller coasters, their experience might not be great. There are still rides for them, but roller coasters and kiddie rides are much more plentiful. The games are stupidly expensive, but there are a lot of good food options. The park is clean, and there are lots of staff members.

Great day at the park. The wait times for rides were a little long, but not bad enough to spoil the fun. Great food everywhere. Amazing assortment of rides. Especially for a park in such an unlikely urban area.

Kids have grown up, and haven't visited Kennywood for many years until yesterday. Enjoyed the time in the park. Brought back very good memories. Rides like racer, thunderbolt, Jack rabbit will always make Kennywood unique in comparison to all other such amusement parks in the state and country. Supreme funnel cake with topping of ice-cream and strawberry is always special!

I moved out of Pittsburgh back in 92 so this was my first time visiting since I was a teenager. I now have a family and was able to bring my 3 kids here to enjoy. Very nostalgic for me and brought back great memories so I'm glad I was able to share with my kids.

I love Kennywood, it's our park here in the Burgh, but I can't get down wit the long a$$ lines. They got to figure that out. I know the never will tho..I love taking my kids and having those memories that I didn't have as a kid. So I have to show love.

It's been six years since I've been to an amusement park and rode rides and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The park isn't too big, but big enough for me and the family. Also, for a Saturday, the wait times for big coasters were about 30 to 45 mins. Not too bad at all.

  • 4/5 Jennifer D. 10 months ago on Google
It was nice for the kids but it would of been better had all the kids rides been open. Half of them were closed we counted 6 in the kids area open. But it was a very nice time to go back on Friday night for just the adults the food was good from the around the world bites tour along with their normal concession stands.
