Absolutely ridiculous experience. My brother was lifelined here and Shona wouldn’t let our family into the hospital. VERY unprofessional. Compassion is number one priority in this field. I do believe she could use a course or two to brush up on this skill set. Since when is the family NOT allowed to stay in the waiting room when their relative has BRAIN BLEEDING????!!!!!!!!???? The staff doesn’t have answers to any questions and the facility itself is deplorable. They need to be shut down. Just go take a look in the basement and you’ll understand. Please, if you love someone do NOT bring them here.

What a joke the Cardiac Medical Critical Care Floor #4 was a complete nightmare (not the staff) the place was nasty dirty! Patient pillows were discarded in the lobby area! The place had tno sanitizer in the dispensers , floor was nasty, trash overflowing ripped and torn furniture and no security to stop kids from doing backflips and going into the actual care center before being escorted back to the lobby! Loud screaming it's bad! I reported this to the front desk on floor one he said he would take care of it and never did!

Extremely long waits in the Emergency room (multi-hour wait, with folks complaining about 5 to 6 hours to get a room). Presumably, they won’t let you bleed out on the floor, but otherwise bring a book. If you can afford the time, go elsewhere.

I would give zero stars if I could. It was horrible. I told a dozen people that I had an allergy that is frequently used in medications. The only person who heard me and paid the slightest attention was my GI's nurse. I ended up having an asthma attack just after the procedure. When I was diagnosed with Colon Cancer, they had an MA call to see if I had been told my pathology results. She was surprised to find out that no one had called to tell me I had Cancer. This was after telling me how surprised the doctor was that the results came back with Cancer cells found. When the surgeon met with me, I left the appointment with more knowledge about his girlfriend (who is on his staff), their relationship, and their child than I did about the scheduling of my procedure. I am sure he's a wonderful, brilliant person. It would be nice if his relationship was NOT part of patient interactions.

My mom got into a car accident and was hurt bad. She was in a critical condition and needed extensive care, but she wasn’t really given the care she needed. The nurse/practitioners were rude, and would literally ignore the calls from their patient. Take note my mom was in ICU because she had broken ribs, injured spine and other major injuries. My mother was calling for help cuz she needed to pee, but nobody was answering the call and the nurses took forever, there was a nurse inside the room, but she was taking care of another patient since it was a shared room. The nurse didn’t give a care when my mother peed the bed and herself. WORST HOSPITAL I’VE EVER SEEN.

26 weeks pregnant, had partial vision loss and light headedness for 3 hours then had a severe migraine and extreme nausea with numbness in my left arm and the left side of my mouth. I had severe preeclampsia with my last pregnancy and wanted to make sure everything was okay, called my ob and they sent me here. I waited 2 hours and then they finally took my vitals and told me to wait. I finally asked how long of a wait it would be, the triage nurse was very rude and said everyone has been waiting 3+ hours and told me just take benadryl at home. Definitely never going back again and going to find a new hospital to deliver at.

This hospital has saved my life on more than one occasion. People always complain when things don't go their way but I think people need to let other people know the great things they have done for other people

They have the worst nurses I have ever witnessed in a hospital. Mutiple patients have stated the SAME problem! Don't make the same mistake! 90% of their nurses only care about themselves and will be rude or less-than-willing to meet your needs. If you hate your job then get out of healthcare! Sad your patients have to be victimized due to such negligence. Then if you address such issues to them just know they will accuse you of being the rude one and how you're disrespecting them! Their nurses act like a group of gossip girls who relish in their own miserable existence.

If I could give them 0 stars I would!! My husband was brought in by ambulance because it was supposed to be the best trauma ER..what a joke! Left him in his soiled clothes in the ER for over 40 hrs. Then said they were admitting him, moved him to a room and then discharged him about 4 hrs later with no answers and I'm sure a hefty bill!! Go anywhere but here...ANYWHERE!!

I really meant 0 stars, my brother been there for over 2 years. He health decline tremendously, the nurses never cleaned him. Social Worker Jill had someone take guardianship and had visitations restriction on him so that no family could some visit him. Over 2 months and when they allowed it, it was when they said they are about to take his life away. 😡 this hospital needs to be shut down, the retaliated on my mom because she reported them to the state because how dirty and filthy my brother was every time she would come to visit.

Would not even give a one star but had to my daughter sets up an appointment for Gi Procedure and they keep canceling it. The email comes from them but they keep telling us that we are the ones canceling. I do not recommend them if this is the way patient care is now.

2/2/23 Susan the front desk is very rude! At first she said there is no patient that I was going to visit that I had to call the patient and she confirmed I was in a right place. Susan realized her mistake and wrote me a note, "You are Not allowed allowed visitors! Nurse said NO. Can I help you anymore!" She don't even apologized or the reason why she wasn't allowed the visitor. I wrote her back, "this patient is upsetting and need clarify why she was in the hospital and I'm her case manager. I don't know why you are angry. Be kind, thanks." Susan demanded to take my phone away from me which I wasn't feeling comfortable for anyone to touch my phone to let the patient know, no visitor! Susan replied back, "You have to leave!" And talk to the security guy about me that I have no idea what they were saying. I was busy using the wifi to calm the patient down but I felt uncomfortable and left. I was shocked and appalled of her behavior. I don't know if she had a bad day and I felt I was being attacked for no reason.

Ok so my surgery was done at 11:15 / 11:30 and now it is 11:57pm soon 12. Hours here. The staff 5 Stars in surgery recovery try to get beds and when they call at times they have to get a bed for the room so that one of the patients here can get out of here….. now since I have been here for over 12 hour plus the HOSPITAL better NOT charge me more for this since they do not have maintenance staff that will work to get beds ready!!! My insurance paid for overnight and not in the surgery recovery room Hats off to the nurses in the surgery recovery for going far and beyond!! 10 STARS Maintenance 2

My Sister was released from the hospital after the doctors, nurses and therapy departments had no magic tricks to save her. My sister would raise hell with anyone who walked into her room. Her demands outweighed her illness. I have so much respect for the ICU unit, 4th floor for the efforts, they put into saving my /our Sister, a wife , Mother.Grandmother, and she had plenty of friends, plenty I am guessing with no filter, kept everyone on their toes. Thanks to all the staff and the nurse who made sure my Sister got the biscuits and gravy ,scrambled eggs and orange crush that she demanded at 5:00A.M. her last meal that she said was pretty good. I will remember you all for your bedside manner in a word. Outstanding! RIP Sister P.A.

I had a recent surgery done at this hospital. From the moment I stepped in the morning of the surgery to the discharge was the best hospital experience I ever had. The staff was so polite at the main entrance and all through the day. My heartfelt THANKS! to all the nurses who helped and assisted at every step and the recovery nurse who had to put up with the questions I was asking under anesthesia grogginess repeatedly and she kept replying patiently. Before the procedure, all my anxiety faded away with their friendliness and smiles. I feel so lucky to have the absolute best doctor who did a wonderful job on my procedure, am so happy and relieved. I don't have any words to thank him besides he has given me a new life and I can not repay in this lifetime. They make an exceptional workforce at the IU Methodist where I had the procedure done. Efficient, courteous and knowledgeable team exceeded all my expectations. Keep up the excellent work guys and a huge THANK YOU! I will highly recommend this hospital to anyone.

Was in the hospital here a few weeks ago. Seemed as if I were just thrown in my room and forgot about. Hit the call button twice and still not one person came. When they finally did get to me. It was to late. Other than that. All the drs and nurses were nice.

I have had a sister and a nephew both there for many days having serious issues - both still there. There are exceptions to this rule but overall nursing care provided has been horrible. No continuity of care. If you ask for something you either wait an extended period of time, take care of it with visiting family or they no show. There are too many details to post in a review. Now the entire hospital is out of wicking devices so patients have to lay in their urine until someone can get them cleaned up. I gave a one star rating just to make sure you know this is not a joke.

Absolutely the worst care! My very close friend went to ER complaining of a bowel abstruction, did not receive all the bag of IV solution bc nursing did not hang bag correctly, my friend is in remission for uteran cancer, drugged her up on pain medication, did not offer to help escort her to my vehicle to take her home, discharged her after they drugged her up on pain medication to the point she could not function what so ever!!!! Poor beyond poor patient care and we are both beyond disgusted with Methodist!! Supposedly the best hospital care, unfortunately we did not witness good care there!!!!

I went into the ED with severe pelvic pain to the point I couldn’t walk. Christian Mendez was my ED doctor and literally yelled at me to relax multiple times while trying to give me a Pap smear while I was in a lot of pain and the nurse had to hold the curtain closed because it wouldn’t stay shut. I feel awful for the nurse because she was exaughsted. She was very sweet and did a wonderful job but by the end of my visit was literally nodding off while in the room with me. Christian Mendez has horrible bedside manner and told me my IUD had an issue. When I went to my gyno like he referred me to, she told me that he shouldn’t have done half the tests he did (including the pap) and that my IUD was absolutely fine and that he should have “stayed in his lane.” We found the problem later but I had multiple doctors tell me that this ED visit was not good. I’ve always trusted IU health but I do NOT trust Christian Mendez. He has a lot more learning to do.

My father was a patient here recently and I am sharing his opinions as well as my own on this place. I will start by saying that the nursing staff in the post surgical ICU were absolutely wonderful. However, the doctors here are atrocious. Mostly, because there were multiple doctors giving contradicting orders and leaving the nursing staff to figure things out. One example, the morning of returning from surgery to re-close an incision, therapy techs showed up and tried to force him to get up and walk, when the doctor had told him directly he wasn't allowed to get up yet. Things like this were a daily occurrence during his stay. Avoid this hospital like the plague.

My mother, who recently passed away, was a patient at I.U. Health Methodist Hospital several times during her last months of life. Her final days were spent in the multi-specialty ICU. On each occasion, she received wonderful, attentive care. A big shout out to nurse Erika who lovingly tended to my mom on her last day of life. Greatly appreciated.

The worst experience I've every had at a hospital. I went to the emergency room - my treatment was horrible from beginning to end. After had an xray and ct scan they sent me home saying it was "muscular pain" I was experiencing. 24hrs later, I was at Eskenazi - same tests, xray and ct scan, they had me in surgery within 2 hrs of being there and I ended up in the hospital for 9 days. They told me if I didn't arrive when I did....I probably wouldn't be alive. The nurses in the emergency room didn't care. It wasn't even a case of them being busy. They seemed annoyed to help. I had to request a wheelchair to leave - the nurse asked multiple people to take me. She finally did and made me walk to the car. The security even apologized. Horrible healthcare.

I Spent 4 weeks there recently after a severe lung infection almost killed me. The first 3 weeks were in the ICU. The care there was amazing. The nurses and Drs gave excellent care. The nurses were very responsive. My last week was on a step down floor. My daughter who is a nurse said it was the worst floor in the hospital. I see why. The nurses were still great, there just weren't enough of them. It would take at least 15 min to get an answer to my call button, then another 30 to get a nurse there. Bottom line: it's the place to be if you are critical, but not if you aren't.

So bad. Cardio floor didn’t work for showers, my own mother had to bathe and change me for 6 days. Suffered with so many complications from cancer. Disastrous hemoc Dr. Who missed cancer for years til I was stage 3, Was denied another Dr. Seems against policy right? Im sure was never documented. I could go on for days. Just don’t go to the Hemoc, ER or hospitalization. It has traumatized me forever.

*BEDBUGS* I was treated in the ER on April 25, 2023. After getting dressed I noticed a bedbug crawling on my shirt. I killed it and notified the nurse and doctor. Neither was surprised. In fact, they stated that it was common due to the amount of homeless people that frequent the ER. In June of 2023, my 24 year old son was seen there. Unfortunately he bought one home in his supply bag. He immediately killed it but who knows if we missed something. Of course we're treating our home just to be safe. After speaking with others about our experience it was brought to my attention that this has been a problem for years. Please avoid this location if possible!!

I have a big lump in my arm of blood that has not went down like they said it was when they seen it was clotting up they panicked &’ tired to cover it up but couldn’t . ALMOST PASSED OUT .. if you love your life ONLY go there for the ER

IU Health has worked with me these past three months to get my brain working as it should. I'm breathing better than I did before my accident. I'm sleeping better than I can ever remember - and we're still working on more. I have started to have a healthy view of myself mentally and physically. I'm exercising more and have begun to look at food through a therapeutic lens. I'd love to take all the credit, but if it weren't for the doctors, nurses, physical therapists, lab workers, and the rest of the staff, I would most likely still be walking around in a fog, not sleeping, not eating right, and angry. Thanks, IU Health, for giving me the chance to be a better version of myself. Love!

Our visit started out great. The higher levels of doctors, such as nurses, doctors and surgeons, are amazing and professional, but after the surgery, the care dwindled. ICU is ok but the 6th floor is lacking big time. Patients put their call buttons and no one ever comes. Maybe people on that level are not at serious risk, but still not right. The main nurses are ok, but all the girls at the nurses station just sit there on their phones. From what i observed, the higher up positions seem to take their job seriously but the lower positions are looking for a lazy job in the future. As for the stuff outside the hospital room... phone calls for communicating with case managers and follow ups are very unorganized. I will get 3 or 4 phone calls from different people in one day, but none of them have even communicated with each other. One will say one thing, and then the next will contradict the others. And getting a return phone call is impossible. We went home with very little supplies and couldnt get the supplier to answer our calls. We have been home for 4-5 days and we finally got thru to our supplies supplier, and they told me today that we are supposed to have a ventilator at home. That makes no sense, considering we have been home for 4-5 days. Thats something that should have been set up for coming home.

August 12, 2022 at 10:30AM I registered myself into this hospital for the VERY FIRST TIME since I moved from NYC in January 2022. First off the women in registration put me down as male even when I gave them ID meanwhile I’m a born female & identify as one. Strike 1. It took about 25 mins to get me into a room. I came in with problems on my right side paining me internally under my rib cage anytime I move, lay down, cough etc & the pain started 2 weeks ago. About two doctors, one nurse, X-ray guy, insurance guy, and maintenance came into my room within FIVE HOURS & I got sent home with NOTHING but a ibuprofen & cold pack. And hours later I’m still in pain & now have to go to another emergency room. They didn’t tell me what’s wrong with me & was very dismissive, I could be dying for GODS sake smh last time I step foot there & I don’t care what they charge me I WILL NOT PAY THEM A DIME !!!!

This hospital allows doctors to publically condescend and yell at patients. The IR doc refused to listen to anything I had to say, instead choosing to yell at mr, while I pleaed for him to stop because he was causing anxiety. I will do everything i can to put a mark on his record. He deserves no mercy. No consideration. He gave none. Now I want his job.

The absolute worst customer service and organization. This hospital is not user friendly at all. I had to park about a ten minute walk away to then walk to the ER. Also the staff acted like they were so unhappy to be there (which I can totally understand why they would be after spending the short period of time I was there) I also notice they don't have their phone number lister.... must have gotten to many call complaints. Do better! You are taking care of people who are ill, hurt, and dying.

We were in and out. But the waiting room was disturbing. I was taken back by the number of homeless people there. Sadden my heart to see one person eating out of the trash. It was cold out that night and I am quite sure they were looking for a warm place. I'm not aware of any circumstances or situation, but I wish that there were some type of program to assist the emergency room with assisting these individuals.

I have a chronic condition that requires me to visit the emergency room more often than I’d like. For the most part, my experiences have been reasonable. Nurses are friendly and are genuinely doing their best. Triage always likes to tell me I have a UTI when I know that is most certainly not the case, thus affecting my acuity (causing me to not be seen as quickly). It’s usually a smooth process beyond that point.

U went in on 11/15/23 and had 4 surgeries on my right arm. I was there at 7:30 a.m. my surgery was scheduled for 10:00 a.m but did not get in until after 4:00 p.m. I was told that the first patient had canceled, and the 3rd person got bumped ahead of me. I was upset until I found out it was a truma paitient, I understood because my surgery was not life threatening. Everyone from the lady who hooked me up to all the doctors was fantastic. They were all very kind and appreciated me being understanding about the trauma patient getting moved up ahead of me. The nurse in recovery was very kind, and so were all of the others who took care of me during my overnight stay. Susan Gammon

I'm more than happy with the treatment my parents are getting here. Both here, different wings, and all the nurses and other staff have been very kind and efficient. And, when I'm walking from one area to another, different doctors and nurses and maintenance have helped me. I highly recommend this hospital.

Avoid this hospital at all costs. The paramedics and people associated with this hospital are not your friends and all they care about is collecting your money. These people are not here to help you get better and the facility itself run down to the core. You’re better off getting health care provided some where else because of this hospital doesn’t kill you physically, it will kill you financially.

I have been a patient once in 2012 for 6 weeks again in 2014 and currently staying here. From the moment of arrival the staff have been absolutely amazing. They laugh with you, cry with you, and the support offered to family members is unmatched. Even tho a visit can be scary I know my heart couldn't be in better hands!!

My husband is doing a 5 day EEG stay. One of the lady's at the desk that is supposed to call a nurse so he can use the bathroom is super rude! Her name is Destiny. This was at 12:35pm 8/29. Destiny never called for him to use the bathroom and had to call again, he waited an hour to use the bathroom. He did not chose to have epilepsy. Destiny needs to be more sensitive about people needing to use the restroom!! He is not a prisoner, he is there to get help with his seizures. Disgusting person destiny is!! If I was there she would of got a piece of my mind. On anither note. The nurses are amazing! They are all super sweet. The Cooks there are amazing as well. The food is really good too. I hope destiny isn't treating others this way. AGAIN, NOW ON 8/31 FAITH IS ANOTHER ONE WHO DOESN'T NEED TO WORK WITH PEOPLE!! This is not ok to treat people like they are garbage because they have a medical condition. I hope if Faith or Destiny ever get put in the hospital they get treated the way they treat others, like trash!!

My b.f.came to i.u.hosp to get a heart monitor...he suddenly felt ill and was taken to emergency, where he was hooked up to monitors, and we were pretty much abandoned for about 5 hours..nobody brought him water,or checked on him,or offered us any answers,he was finally sent to a more private area, the observation area, where pretty much the same treatment...no cardiologist EVER came in to speak with him, when I looked out, down the hallways, most of the nurses were engaged in convos with each other .finally he was sent home, allowed to drive himself ..,with paperwork with instructions to return if he had certain symptoms, which were the EXACT SAME SYMPTOMS THEY ADMITTED Him For! We are going to try to figure something else out. Btw his regular heart Dr never came downstairs to even speak with us ..

Had an emergency room visit with my mother. The absolute worse experience ever. I do understand that the nursing staff at patient check-in and triage encounter many different problems and attitudes daily and I do commend them on handling difficult situations it the staff on duty specifically at the ER Triage Front desk are completely desensitized when it comes to compassion. One staff member in particular that was rude and loud to patients; she was an RN. I also observed to IU Methodist employees check-in to ER; we’re taken to the back with 15 minutes of arrival and I watched them leave within 2hrs of their arrival. I wasn’t aware that employees have priority in the ER while the average waiting time tonight is 7.5 hours for everyone else. In addition to lack of priority of care procedures, I watched two fights break out in the waiting room and the security guard took his time coming out of his office to diffuse the situation. This worse example of American healthcare I have ever experienced. I pray my Mom NEVER needs emergency care again. 5-6 Sep 2023

If you want to send gifts or flowers to a loved one, don't trust the hospital website instructions, you'll regret it! I followed the instructions, from the hospital website, to send a care package (books, blanket, coffee cup, etc., nothing too fancy) to my close friend, getting cancer removal surgery. Amazon stated it was signed for by a member of reception. Per instructions on the website, it was supposed to be delivered. I asked my friend, he never received the package. I filed a complaint through the hospital website, never received anything back. I've never witnessed such petty corruption at a hospital! Save your time and money, don't send anything, unless you want to get it stolen! Extremely sad and pathetic!

We waited until after the 7am shift change to ask for help. At 10:30 that morning, I literally had to go to the nurses station to ask for my daughter's morning nausea meds (chemo patient). The nurse came in, spilled the meds and then told the charge nurse that my daughter "refused" it.

Absolutely the best!! I had the best nurses in icu. I was treated and cared for amazingly. The nurses are never at a desk sitting, they are consistently taking care of their patients. I can't say enough good and positive things about my time there.

These people kept me and my wife in there for 6 hours only gave her a covid test she went in because she could not breathe and had a chest pain on the right side they let her sit there all I did was test in pain by far the worst hospital I've ever ever ever been to so I would recommend going somewhere else they are terrible

It’s your life and your health you’re gambling with when you dismiss the multiplicity of complaints against this hospital as “people simply unhappy about not getting their own way.” Nobody goes to a hospital with an attitude problem. They go there with a legitimate complaint and expect to be treated legitimately. If that was the end result for any of the complainers, I’d be surprised. Let me sum it up for you: where there is smoke, there is fire. Avoid this gremlin; get care somewhere else.

I got into a car accident waited 2 hours to get an mri & another other to be triaged to a filthy room with a recliner. This is only after I had asked 3 different times if I could get a bed because my body was hurting & sitting upright made my body hurt even more . I was only given this room after I asked for my outpatient paperwork because I wanted to go home to LAY DOWN . As no one seems to be understanding that sitting upright is causing me PAIN . The nurses at the front are understaffed and you can tell they are spread thin I had to apologize for my behavior but waiting 3 hours in an emergency too & not being seen by a doctor is not what or something that anybody should ever have to endure . When I mentioned I was going to leave a review the nurse at the front pointed to the wall with a hotline where I can call & leave my opinion ; I digieres I would leave it here too . AVOID THIS HOSPITAL AT ALL COSTS Or you loved ones could be the ones to suffer !!
