Such a fun place, my kids love it every-time we go. You buy a ticket once and it’s good for as many times back in the year that you want to come. It’s the perfect size park for kids to be able to do everything and see everything there without being too much. A nice fun day trip. There’s also two splash pads for when it gets hot, which is perfect ! Easy to navigate and the staff is always helpful when you need assistance. They have several rides. Some for little kids and some for bigger, as well as face painting & jungle gyms for the kids to play on as well. My family loves it.

Absolutely loved it here. Great experience and was well worth the money. You can spend many hours here. We spent about 3 hours here. Tons of different animals here and you can tell the zookeepers love their jobs and the animals. They have many backstage experiences as well for an additional cost. Tons of different shows to go see as well in the different regions of the world. Tons of food and beverage spots around the park so if you are in need of something they have it. Parking is free and overall we had a great time here!

A very nice zoo with lots of species. Areas are well-marked and the exhibits are laid out so that you do no wandering and searching like I've done at other zoos. Only 4 stars because a number of enclosures are needing work. (No water in hippo, enclosure, water features in other enclosures no running.) Feb 20 and there were lots of elementary school children swarming from enclosure to enclosure but otherwise, it was surprisingly uncrowded. A few food spots were closed making me suspect this is the slow season. I thought the food was reasonably-priced. Entry fee was on par with other zoos. Is it better than that other Tampa place that has roller coasters and animals? I depends on what you want. I am not big on thrill rides and love animals so I would choose Zoo Tampa. The other place is more of a walk along the back of the park safari path and is cool too. If I had to choose one I would choose Zoo Tampa. If my family had to choose one it would go with the thrill ride park.

This Zoo has some of the best natural habitats for their animals that we've seen. The staff is also great. The safari is worth the wait as well. We spent most of the day here and still didn't make all of the exhibits. The manatees are great to see up close. The water ride was such a blast for the kids that they went twice! We can't wait to come back again soon.

We had a blast at this place. My boys were mesmerized by the the range of animals. Mommy, Daddy, and Auntie enjoyed the numerous beverages carts around the zoo. I give this place 5 stars but many of the animals were inside due to the chilly weather. Not the Zoo's fault but we didn't see the whole park. It's still deserves 5 stars based off what we saw.

This was so much fun! The price is steep but we were surprised and excited to hear that the pass we bought today will cover admission for the entire next year, which is amazing! We were bummed that one of the parks (red- Australia) was closed down today. This zoo is really nice. It’s large without feeling too big. The exhibits are close together and makes you feel like you’re right there in it with the animals. We have been to the Detroit Zoo, Toledo Zoo, San Diego Zoo, and ZooTampa. This zoo had the elegance and vibe like the San Diego Zoo without it being so big and having to walk so much in between each exhibit.

Had so much fun here everytime we were there. Our recent visit was during Christmas. Visited the Santa workshop. We got there around 3:30 and people were just forming the line. Santa here was so calm, gentle and friendly to the kids. Elf’s were so cute and engaged with every kid in the line leading to Santa. No rush just nice people. They didn’t rush anyone. I’m glad we were there even though we had no plans of being there. Photos were also very well taken and priced well.

Absolutely loved this zoo; not to big and not too small but just right! It is also well maintained and the animals seem content and look very healthy. The staff was very friendly. What’s great for family with younger kids is that there is a area designated as Children’s Zoo. I absolutely love the photos. You are asked to do various poses then they add animals to them when edited. If you purchase 4 or more it’s $10 per photo. I purchased 2 prints send all 5 photos on flash drive for $64 plus tax. The photos turned out beautiful and definitely get your money’s worth. I paid $20 for 1 photo at Bush Garden and quality was not as nice. Great experience and would visit again if I return to Tampa. Oh, and I went around 3pm on a Wednesday and most were leaving so to me a great time to go because not crowed.

We had a blast here. Being able to walk into a place where you can join the birds was an experience. Please do not pass up the chance to see the flying macaw birds. The animals were all out! If you can make it before April, they have a great dinosaur exhibit. Brace yourself, it is expensive. The food, however, was very good. The portions were generous. The cost for a family of 4 was just shy of $200 for tickets, so for a bit more, we went ahead and grabbed season tickets.

I LOVE THIS ZOO!!! It is a virtual gem!! My kids have been coming here their entire lives, even before we moved here, and now I'm thrilled to be so close to such an amazing place! The animals are beautiful, the grounds are stunning and extremely well kept, and the whole of the experience is one you'll come back for over and over again. This place is for everyone, all ages, credos, and walks of life. 15 out of 10, for sure.

It was a well maintained place. We came when most kids went back to school so it was pretty empty so we could see everything pretty fast. I highly recommend coming to visit. It has a nice water fountain for anyone to cool off so I recommend wearing a swimsuit or fast drying clothing. Overall my experience was awesome. One thing I kind of was sad was most of the animals couldn’t be seen. Maybe they were hiding from the heat or something else. The Zoo was nice, and clean. Would totally recommend!!

This is one of the best zoos around. They are very kind to the animals and focus on conservation and biodiversity. Everyone who works here is very friendly and helpful. We come here frequently and always try to bring guests when they visit.

I have been there twice (once with just adults and once with children) and both times I felt that they had a wonderfully large selection of animals. Love that they have manatees. Definitely a lot of walking. They have a cute carousel and some food options. They have a tiger but no lion.

I quite liked this zoo. It was very busy but the crowds seemed to flow nicely. Parking was free but took a while to find a spot. More food options inside the park would be nice, even snack carts here and there could work out. Most of the animals seemed happy and well looked after. The tiger seemed quite stressed out, pacing back and forth in a habitat far too small for it so thay was kind of sad. The special limited dinosaur exhibit was neat, had a small wait to get in as to keep people sort of spaced out once inside.

This is my favorite place in Tampa. The price is very reasonable for all the multitudes of things you get to do. The David A Straz Manatee Hospital is incredible and if you can find a volunteer or an employee with some extra time they can tell you a lot about their rescue, rehabilitate, and release program. The Florida boardwalk really focuses on local wildlife and rescue. They also have a huge animal hospital! If you've seen this zoo on the Secrets of the Zoo Tampa show, it's even cooler seeing all the animals in real life. It's like meeting celebrities! Highly recommend it, great family zoo with tons of activities and rides for kids and great educational moments as well. I absolutely suggest looking into some of their up close animal encounters. I've done the penguin, both rhinos, and the giraffe feeding, and I couldn't be happier!

What a great day at the zoo, and what a great zoo to spend the day at! The staff are wonderful and do their best to answer your questions. The signs, programs, and extra activities are extremely educational but in a super fun way. The animals seem well cared for and appeared healthy, though they were a bit lethargic the day we were there and I dont blame them, it was in the upper 80's on December 28. One of my favorite things about this zoo is that it isn't one of those huge and lumbering zoos, someone with mild walking disabilities, like myself, can still see everything in one visit. We took advantage of their end of the year special and got 2022 for free (blackout dates apply) so we will definitely be going back. TL;DR - great zoo, you should go!

Zoo Tampa is the real deal of zoo’s. They have so many animals and experiences (for a fee) that you can get involved in. The staff does a good job with keeping the grounds and bathrooms clean. They have a whole inside arena for you to escape the hot sun grab something to eat and sit down to enjoy it. Prices are standard for a Zoo. My favorite was finally seeing a Komodo Dragon in person, they are one of my favorite animals that I only ever saw on TV before visiting Zoo Tampa. I was beyond excited when I seen it. I felt like a kid in the candy store! I would allowed at least 4 hours to get through everything at the Zoo. They do have limited parking even though I didn’t have an issue with parking during my visit. Zoo Tampa is a must visited. I promise, you won’t be disappointed and are guaranteed to have a great time with your family!

We were really impressed with this zoo and it’s habitats! The manatee area was amazing and knowing they also rehabilitate etc is just awesome. The whole Florida section was great showcasing all the wildlife our state has. The layout and highly shaded walkways are well thought out and executed, not like some other zoos I’ve been to. They had a large variety of animals broken into regions as well as a lot of extra attractions and rides for children, which I’m sure parents will appreciate.

It’s a nice zoo, $40+ per adult and $30+ for kids older than 3, kids under 3 gets in for free. For a family of four they have a membership pass that costs $240 and you are allowed two guests. The people are the ticket booth are very helpful. We visited in mid September, a few of the activities are currently not available. The train ride was not working for example. The good, most of the activities are already included in the price you pay, they don’t try to milk you. We got a free cup of beer during happy hour at the Oasis(Africa). They have a driving tour of the African Safari, it was quite interesting. We saw the penguins being fed. There’s a section for Orangutan, we were lucky to be there at 12:30pm when they were giving a presentation. The water park and banana ride section is cool. Loads of activities for kids and staff are friendly.

Zoo Tampa at Lowry Park is an absolute must-see if you are visiting Tampa! The park is laid out in a great way that you aren't walking forever between exhibits so you get to see lots of animals. Would recommend going in the afternoon as it's a little less busy. The Expedition Africa ride was also a cool experience.

Visited zoo Tampa over Christmas break and had a wonderful experience. Want to give a special shout out to the customer service folks working the morning shift on December 23rd. We had an issue with a ticket (our fault not the zoo's but they were able to fix it so we could enjoy our day. As for crowds, it was not to busy early in the day but gradually filled by late afternoon.

We love this zoo. My daughter started watching their show on Disney and became obsessed with the African "Panda" dog, aka African painted dog. We did a road trip just to visit the dogs. Now, we have been back multiple times. The park has a perfect combination of animals and extra fun kid activities. The Manatee exhibit is my personal favorite. There are so many cool ways to see them up close and realize how much personality those manatees have. Seeing a Florida Panther up close was also neat. The carousel, safari ride, face painting, and log flume ride all break up the day to add an extra layer of fun. My daughter got one of their junior zookeeper vests and wears it constantly. Overall, we had a really good experience at this zoo and have already come back and plan to go more. My only negative is that the lunch options are not very healthy. We ended up doing pizza the first visit, and it was very greasy. That is where I could see room for improvement.

Great zoo. Wide walk ways. Clean bathrooms and paths. Plenty of parking. I specially like the different themes such as Asia, Africa, etc. The animals were very active and came very close to us. Price for snack and drink was reasonable like most zoos. Lots of shops, sitting area, and bathrooms throughout. You can save a few dollars by purchasing tickets online. Plus, you can skip the ticket lines at the entrance gate. The kids rides are included. Short but still fun. The zoo does have a nice water theme play area so go prepared.

This was a great zoo that our entire family loved. We've watched the series about this zoo, so it was great to be here and see the animals and exhibits up close. It is very family friendly and focused and the staff from the entrance to the exit were wonderful. There was also a great mix of food, rides, activities, games, and shows that are enough to make an entire day out of after you've seen all of the animals. I can certainly see why the zoo gets the accolades that it does, especially when it comes to being great for families. Lastly, we loved the pictures that they took when we came in on the green screen and ended up treating ourselves to the package. If you're in Tampa, it's definitely worth a visit.

It's a little pricey, but worth it. The zoo has a very good layout with great views of the animals. Plus it has more kids activities and kid friendly rides than any other zoo I've ever been to. The safari ride is long enough to be enjoyable, but short enough that it doesn't drag on. The water ride is obviously fun when it's hot. There's a kids splash area but the primates and manatees are definitely the highlight, in my opinion.

Despite the warm weather we had so much fun at the zoo. What I found interesting there were species of animals I have never seen before. There were plenty of places to get food. Activities for kids. Just had a pleasant day and will go back when it gets cooler outside

I visited ZooTampa at Lowry Park back in 2021. The place is very big, so I suggest you give yourself some time to explore. I really enjoyed their selection of birds. The monkey exhibit is really cute. You can watch them swing around on ropes and climb towers. If you like hands on experiences- there is an area where the birds are very friendly and sometimes they come so close that they touch you, for myself it was a very pleasant experience. I definitely recommend this Zoo.

Such a nice zoo with so many interesting animals! My boys just loved the zoo and all it had to offer. The whole family really enjoyed the Macaw exhibition as soon as we entered the main entrance. The fly overs were amazing to watch! The manatee viewing areas were amazing and were the highlight of our trip to the zoo!!! Tampa City Pass made for an easy entry into the park with no wait lines at all! Highly recommend for a fun family day out.

I love going to the zoo in each city and Milwaukee has a nice one! I'm from St. Louis and ours is pretty similar when it comes to the animals, but what makes St. Louis infinitely better is that it is free! I definitely loved how close you could get to the leopard when he sits in the window at the Milwaukee zoo though.

The MKE Zoo is an awesome place to visit any time of the year. All of the facilities and exhibits are well taken care of. Although some exhibits could use some freshening up and modernization, the zoo is definitely upgrading and creating a better experience for the visitors and the animals themselves as they get better homes in which to live. I highly recommend this zoo to anyone in the area or visiting from out of town. This is a great place to learn and be immersed in the wonderful world of animals. Tickets and parking may be expensive but it goes towards a great cause of conservation and habitat rebuilding. The Elephants, Hippos, Otters, and a few others have all received new homes to live in within the past few years and the zoo is definitely making a change for the better.

The price was not bad. They have lots of stuff for the kids to play on and have fun. They have 2 zip lines for kids and adults. The animals are amazing and the little people and big people loved feeding them.☺️ Just make sure you bring paper towels to dry hands or you will have to shake dry. 😉 My party was 1-4 and the kids had fun and stayed entertained the entire time.

This store may have good prices but Pedro (the younger Spanish worker) is absolutely TERRIBLE. He sold me dead torches over $400 then got in my face and yelled at me when I asked about it. Absolutely unacceptable. I now see why people say “you get what you pay for”!

Pretty good zoo, the staff was super intelligent and knew their animals well. The backstage / behind the scenes tours that we did were unfortunately kind of underwhelming. While they were incredibly educational and gave us a closer look at the animals, it wasn’t nearly as exciting or as up close as it seems based off of the front entrance descriptions. We did the manatee hospital and the elephant tours. The manatee hospital was adorable but it was fairly hard to see the babies most of the time. I understand that distance and safety are both required but there should be a better way to view them since they are the central part of the tour. The elephant tour was mostly just a “stand here, get a photo taken, watch the elephant train while we tell you facts, questions, leave” sorta deal. It was very quick and while I immensely enjoyed being near such an amazing animal, I was kind of disappointed at the lack of interaction between us and the elephant. Minus those things, this park is beautiful, clean as can be, and clearly everyone who works there loves the animals as if they were their own. I loved seeing how passionate the tour guides and employees were about the animals and their jobs.

Zoo Tampa is a great place to spend time with children. The zoo is divided into zones. The animals are well-groomed. We were on the Christmas lights and everything was so festive. On the downside, we were on a weekend and there were very few parking spaces. Although, we didn't have to wait long to park the car. We will definitely come back here more than once.

We visited this place today. Zoo may me good but too risky to visit in the middle of pandemic. They are not mandating masks inside. 60-70% of the population was roaming without masks on. The zoo is accepting 100% capacity. They are checking bags but even at security checks they are not asking people to put on masks.they are letting people inside building without masks. When I was at security check and noticed that people are not wearing masks. I checked with their team member who assured that masks are mandatory inside zoo. However as I said 60-70% were without masks. 8 out of 10 people had no masks on! Their team member were not even making any effort to tell people to put their masks on. There were no announcements either. We were excited to see the zoo but left without seeing the zoo because it seemed too risky to stay their for a longer duration. Visit at your own risk!

No COVID precautions. They are not limiting capacity due to which it is completely over crowded. No social distancing. They allow people to roam without masks. No mask mandate no announcements. Other zoos limit certain amount of people every hour. Surprised that they don’t care about their own and others safety.

ZooTampa is a great place for all ages!! We have pay for a day and come back all year tickets to the zoo. It’s a great deal plus parking is free and plenty. This little place is so much fun with variety of animals, birds and even rides which includes safari. Wallaroo is a children’s play place with roller coaster, train ride, slides and splash pads. They do have good restaurant with options of pizza, fries etc. They have a big carousel at the center of the zoo. You get good views from this place and also an awesome ice cream in the nearby shop. There is a fun water ride too. We again visited the place today and they are already working on Creatures of the Night event for Halloween. Definitely recommend this place to everyone!!

ZooTampa is a great adventure for the family. Short of having “adult-roller coasters” like Busch Gardens, it definitely rises to the competition—especially considering the price and the experiences offered. The park is clean, staff is welcoming and helpful, and there’s many things to do from “little roller coasters”, water splash pads/areas, as well as a beer/wine garden adjacent to a wide-open cafe. Jonathan and Candy at the Florida Grill make an incredible shrimp tacos basket and many small craft beer offerings. As far as the animals there are many up close and interactive experiences. This is a great day-experience for everyone in the family with gift shops through the park—Cheyenne was especially helpful when one shop was locked up and helped open it to grab a specific gift!

Wonderful zoo, love that the parking is free and the little safari ride is free as well. They have a kids coaster and a water splash ride as well. The Wendy's frosty stand was so cute. Lots of animals to see and they have an area under construction where they will be adding more. Get the city go pass and you get admission here, plus 2 aquariums, Busch gardens, and a dolphin cruise for only $120 a person.

My first time visiting this zoo from MN. It’s a beautiful zoo and definitely one of the best I’ve visited. We saw animals that we haven’t seen before at other zoos. We went there on Sunday afternoon. It was a little crowded. No face masks required. You should pack some snacks for your kids or you will have to wait in a long line. The only thing I didn’t like is the restroom cleanliness but we sure have some fun!! Ps.If you stay until almost 5, you might get a chance to see the zookeepers feed the animals with only some fews people left :)

Wonderful zoo. Get there when they open to see the animals at their most active. Skip the Safari Expedition unless walking is an issue, you'll see more and better views on foot. And don't miss the manatee feeding! And spend time in the Aviary

Zoo tampa is definitely in my top 3 best zoos of all time. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about every animal they are in charge over. The tortoises interactions were amazing as well. The knowledge and care that go into the manatee rehab is next to none. Truly amazing work they do. We will always visit when we are in Tampa and even base trips around re visiting the zoo.

This zoo is fantastic there are so many animals to learn about here. I felt like the animals were very active and they they did not show any fear of people. Some of the animals that would get up very close to you which is quite a thoroughly experience For the little ones. The zoo was kept clean and tidy andThe staff was friendly and knowledgeable about the animals. They have a free safari that you can go on that was really engaging. The woman who was running our safari tour was very funny and her jokes were appropriate for all ages. You can get barbecue chicken, Pretzels with cheese and other goodies throughout the zoo. They have a small bar section too. They have installed rides inside the zoo that look quite fun. I would have to say this is the best zoo I've ever been to. It's smaller than the zoo down in Portland but it has a lot more to offer. You get to actually see a lot of animals here I love it 🥰

We have year passes to the zoo. My family members meet here at least once a month. The cousins love to play at the kid water park area, and the playground toward the middle of the park, past the carousel. My son has been coming here since he could walk. We have so many good memories here. I’ll put on the Zoo Show and he watches an episode before we go here, he gets so excited to see all the different animals. We have pictures of him growing up visiting this park. The food is pricey and not the best quality, so we pack healthy snacks for our toddlers before we go. We bought the zoo cup, and would recommend others do so as well, free refills and it’s worth it if you’re going to spend the better part of a day here. We also try to go during the weekdays so there’s no wait for rides, open parking, and less people in the park generally.

We love coming to Zoo Tampa. I grew up here and it’s come a long way since then. Great selection of animals and even when it’s busy it doesn’t feel crowded. The staff are friendly and the cost of passes is very reasonable. The food is a little pricey but you can bring your own snacks and drinks. Our daughter really enjoys being able to see all the animals she’s learning to say in real life. It’s a fun, relatively inexpensive family outing compared to the theme parks. We always have a good time here.

It was a hot summer day, so we took the kids to the zoo! Everything went well, but one observation was that some of the animals were not out, and the kids did not get to see them and experience them. The water activities kept the kids cool and refreshed as we walked around, and the rides were easily accessible (no major lines or wait times). We got the yearly pass for less than the day pass, so we will be going more often for sure!

What a great zoo! We had so much fun! We spent about 4 hours here with a 20 month old. There's a great water fountain area where we were able to cool off from the heat. They have an awesome kids section that has little rides to go on and another splash area.

I was shocked at how beautiful this place was. The animals were well cared for and there was plenty for kids of all ages to do. There weren't a lot of allergy friendly food options. The only thing I could get was a pizza with no cheese. But the chef in the back was polite enough to accommodate my lactose intolerance and made it for me. I really truly appreciated it. We will definitely be coming back !

We had a great time! We had watched the show on animal planet so we added it to our todo list for vacation. Really great way to spend the day. The park is clean and the animals well cared for. The staff is also very friendly and helpful. If you live local you can come back for a year on the first admission price what a great deal for families!

Was really good and worth the price. Loads of animals and great attractions. However, I must say that the animals do their own thing. So you might not get to see them in all their glory. But it's still worth a visit.

Loved this zoo!! Well kept/ maintained/ organized! Such a large assortment of animals. Bought the one day ticket that is good for free entry for the rest of the year, so I will be back! Highly recommend. Skip the restaurant, though, high prices, not the best food, and they overcharged us for 3 drinks/ sodas when we only ordered 2. Didn't realize until we got home, and they were $6 each. Great gift shop!

This zoo is so good we originally went for the day but decided to get a yearly membership. Definitely worth joining, plus 50% of other zoos and aquariums that take part in it. Animals are in habitats that resemble their natural habitat. What an awesome experience to say the least. Go online and plan out your day by feeding the giraffes, or doing one of the other activities with an animal. A kid area with rides, and games for them to play for an additional cost. Also don't forget to ride the safari truck that explains about the different African animals in that area of the zoo. I highly recommend stopping by and checking out what it has to offer.

This place was a lot of fun. They have a lot of neat exhibits in there are very interesting animals there. I also really like the Safari ride. It's not as big as a Busch gardens, but it's still very nice suit to visit. It is also very family friendly for young kids.

Visited a few times in different years, and it's always a great experience. The animals are well cared for, and their conservation is very extensive and impressionable. My son loves seeing the animals, the staff are always on hand for questions and the food on site is really good 👍 will be going here again for years to come no doubt.

Great zoo! Fun for the kiddos! They have a big Mary go round with authentic animals to ride, a solid playground and even a splash park 👍. We always enjoy taking a family day trip here. The yearly passes are super easy and absolutely worth it if you have kids and plan to go more than a few times per year. This last trip was Halloween nights. All the characters were on point, very fun and family friendly. We had a great time!

An excellent zoo! Last time I went was 17 years ago when it was Lowry park zoo. So many amazing animals to see, multiple food choices, clean and well kept grounds and habits for the animals. So many different encounters to choose from and educational talks. Overall I’m extremely pleased with my visit today and can’t wait to take my son back again. I bought tickets online and walked right in, no wait on a Wednesday afternoon at 1pm.

This is a great family place. As with everything in Florida, food, drunks, and souvenirs are a bit high priced. It is well worth it though. My grandkids love it. The membership pass pays for itself in no time too. Most of the staff is very friendly. Occasionally you run into someone a bit crabby, but most if the time they are very friendly. It's a great way to spend a Saturday!

Beautiful zoo in Florida, close to Orlando as well. It has an open environment structured with minimum cages for the animals, making the experience for the visitors more interactive & worth the time. The zoo is large and divided into sections of Africa (which has a safari), Florida etc.. A mini theme park is on site as well, were kids can enjoy there time. In general worth a visit especially for families.

We've been to a number of zoos all around the country, and this is one of the best ones we've visited. I think I'd rank it second behind the North Carolina Zoo in Asheboro for best facilities. It was very clean, and appeared modern and well kept. It had a lot of animals and displays, the staff were friendly and knowledgeable and you can easily spend the entire day there seeing everything there is to see. There was ample parking, lots of places to get food and the park made sure safety practices were followed. A great value and an enjoyable trip!

This zoo was a great time and was the best zoo experience we've ever had. There isn't too much walking between animal exhibits and a lot for the kiddos to do along the way - including a kid area with rides and a playground! While some things were limited due to covid, we were still able to spend a good 3.5 hours covering the zoo.

This is our main zoo here in Tampa , even though it is a very kid friendly zoo and it is kept are pretty well clean there are a few issues with it which is why I give it 3 stars. There are areas where there are no animals and it looks like the layout of the zoo could have been done so much better there has been a decent amount of upgrades and new attractions which I will say are pretty cool.

We were in town visiting family for the holidays. It was quite pricey as we are used to the St. Louis zoo that is free. However, we absolutely loved the children's zoo! Overall, beautiful zoo. Our sons loved it and if given the chance, we will definitely come again.

Tampa Bay native I've always admired this zoo and the work that they do for animal conservation. The zoo is always clean and the standards have been exceptional, especially now with Covid. Lots to explore for young and old (highly recommend checking out the manatee rehabilitation overlook.)

It used to be great... The prices have gone up and are waaayyy too high. I had fun and all, but idk. It just wasn't what it used to be. The experience used to be worth the money... And now it just isn't. Also, paid a ton to get behind the scenes with a koala. Other zoos let me pet the animals like koalas when behind the scenes. This zoo doesn't allow it, and they didn't even let me get near it. I only got one picture of me with her far away from me, and one for my boyfriend with her. We had to pay $30+ for a picture of both of us with the koala. Totally not worth it.

ZooTampa has been a great zoo to visit for many years now. It keeps getting better. I do find it somewhat expensive, but I figure the money goes to funding the zoo. So, it's worth it. I did do the 'buy a ticket and come back through 2021', so another visit or two will offset the cost. It's definitely a fun and educational 6 hours. Probably a little longer if one attends the shows.

I wasn't blown away by this zoo. I was able to see only one or two of each animal and I expected more. I saw only one sleeping tiger, one giraffe, one zebra and one spotted leopard. Maybe there were more but it seemed sort of sad seeing them all alone. It was crowded, and many people were not wearing masks. They were not required but I wore mine when there were other people around as a courtesy. Others didn't, so it was a bit awkward at times. The food choices weren't impressive and were basically pizza and hot dogs. Nothing special.

Even after countless field trips as a kid and now chaperoning for my kids the zoo still has so much to discover! There have been new habitats built and even the older ones. It's still exciting when the tigers come out to play! Come prepaid for the weather and plan on having a good time. If it's spring-early fall don't forget your bug repellent. The kids will be worn out and ready for a nap as soon as you get back to the car 😂

Our kids loved the train ride and the ski lift type ride around the park(although it terrified me because the equipment seemed a little old and i'm a plus size gal ). We randomly found this store and glad we did. Both the gentleman and the lady working on Friday, May 29th were extremely friendly and helpful. We got a beautiful hammer coral which is very healthy and happy in its new home and a pair of seahorses. The seahorses are stunning and eating well. Only a day after purchasing the male seahorse gave birth to close to 1000 fry.We are now trying our hand at raising seahorses. This is a must visit aquarium store! We live in Riverview and plan to make regular trips to this awesome store.

A small zoo, very few varieties of animals. Didn’t love the living conditions and environment set for a few animals. Like tiger was living in a small place, with not much room to have a proper walk or a stretch. Not sure if it was given that cage temporarily but really felt sorry for him.

  • 5/5 Luis V. 3 years ago on Google

  • 2/5 Bonnie B. 3 years ago on Google
Extremely dissatisfied with the zoo. The admission is 39.95 for adults and 32.95 for a child. Food and keepsake items so overpriced it is crazy. Bubble blowers starting at 20.00, bamboo drinking straw 11.00. Families with a couple of kids could spend 200.00 or more to see a very mediocre collection of animals. 1 🦓, 1 🐯, no lions, 1 🦒. The orangutan exhibit was good. One of the younger ones did move around and the rhino exhibit was decent, but all in all it is my opinion that a family's entertainment dollar could be much better spent and watch Discover channel to see animals. I paid an extra 3.00 so I can go back at no cost for the rest of the year, but it isn't worth the walk.

  • 4/5 Sharon B. 3 years ago on Google
Love the zoo, well run, lots of cool animals, splash pad, multiple eateries with outdoor seating, and fun animal encounters. However we went on a Sat morning and it was PACKED. More crowded than I've seen on any pre-covid day. No one was social distancing, although I'd estimate 75% were wearing masks. Employees were wiping down rides between each cycle. However limited capacity seems to be not really be a thing. Overall was too crowded for me.

  • 1/5 Kiana M. 3 years ago on Google
COVID/Social distancing regulations not observed. 90% of people were not wearing masks, and they would just come over on/near you. Works were also not masked at some exhibits and did not enforce mask wearing indoors. Many attractions were closed as well. We left early because it was crazy crowded and no covid regulations enforced. Go to Busch Gardens instead!!

Pretty decent zoo, but for the big price tag I would've expected more. The grounds are expansive, but with only mediocre care taken to keep it up. Most of the displays were phoned-in too. The flip side is there are amazing animals here! The Florida Panther, Cloud Jaguar, Koalas, Rhinos, Elephants are spectacular. Great wildlife, average park

What a great day for us. We are a Boston couple who just recently moved to Florida. We have watched Zoo Tampa on tv and decided to check it out. Bought a season pass. Great deal with preferred parking. The zoo is amazing. Something for everyone. Its clean and the animals are cared for. Handicapped accessible. Good food, burgers and fries. Clean restrooms. We enjoyed the decorations too. We each enjoyed some wine too. They had beer too. Great day for a family. We will be back.

  • 4/5 Cheryl G. 3 years ago on Google
Would have been a fantastic visit - but they are not following COVID protocols. Long lines, no social distancing. No mandatory masking is being enforced, even indoor spaces. Website says you need reservations- but no one every asked for these - only for tickets and it does not appear they are limiting attendance at all. Still a good visit - just had to work to avoid crowded spaces.

Love love love ZooTampa! Since moving to FL we’ve bought an annual membership, and it’s been so worth it. I love that we can take a guest for free each visit (we’ve utilized that several times with family members visiting). Lots of animals to see and get up close to. I really enjoy the fact all the rides for the kids are included for the entrance price. (It’s nice to be able to allow my kids to go on them without shelling out more money). The wooden playground is also fun for the kids as well as the splash pad. The big water ride is a fun way for the whole family to cool off too. One of our favorite activities is touching the sting rays and walking through the aquarium and manatee area. Overall just a super fun place for the family. There’s something for everyone, no matter the age. Also their various events (recently dinosaurs alive and “Christmas in the wild”) are such cool things to attend as well!

The Tampa Zoo was one of the coolest zoos I have ever seen. There were so many animals that were literally right in front of you. I think the price was very reasonable for all that is offered there. First, let me start off by saying that the security there is excellent. Before we could even get in they had to check our bags and we had to walk through a metal detector. Once you get past the front gates everything just opens up around you. There are signs everywhere pointing all different directions. It is very organized. The paths are divided into sections that you can just loop around and go to the next one. When you get on the paths there is just so much to see. We stayed for about 4 1/2 hours and I still don’t think we saw everything. In my time at the zoo I saw manatees, touched a stingray, and saw flamingos, a parrot flyover plus so much more. All for no more additional charge than to just get into the zoo. I even got to see a small show for free where we got to see some animals even more up close. We even stopped for lunch which was a great price. I got a meatball sub and it looked identical to the picture on the menu and tasted even better. The staff is very knowledgeable about animals and very friendly. And for those of you wondering about COVID 19 restrictions. Almost everyone I saw was abiding to the guidelines and wearing a mask, so no worries there. Also, something I want to add. I was going to go on the roller coaster but it is a lot smaller than you would think. Just a warning, I mean I could have easily gone on it but it looks like it is meant for small children. Overall, an amazing zoo that well exceeded my expectations with its food, animals, and staff. 10/10 recommend and would totally visit again.

We always have an amazing time here. I highly recommend the Annual Pass. We use it often. Be sure to check out the other zoos, aquariums, museums, etc. that offer some form of reciprocity too. Zoo Tampa is one of the best in the country in my opinion. The orangutans are my favorite, my son loves the wild dogs, my daughters are all about anything in the water! The kids really been into watching Zoo Tampa on Netflix (over and over) so on this day it was an extra special treat to see one of their favorite “stars” in action. “Hi, Dr. Lauren!”

Just went for the first time a few days ago, had a n enjoyable time. Unfortunately having never been until now I’m sure the pandemic has made an impact on the park. It’s a great idea for walking around and seeing animals and learning about them.

  • 3/5 Giavonna T. 3 years ago on Google
It was overall a good day but the animals looked really sad and their homes were small. The price was comparable to better zoo's. There wasn't a lot of animals. Workers and maps were hard to find once you left the area near the exit. The gift shop was really cool especially all the stuff made out of trash or stuff that will go towards helping the beach get cleaned. The manatees were awesome as well as maned wolves. But the larger animals were pacing or wanted to get out through their gate and it was hard to watch even knowing that they probably wouldn't be able to survive in the wild again. The woman showing us our photos was rude and impatient and there was no one to tell you about the animals like I've come to expect. However it was a nice day and the hogs/ pigs (Pumba) were very cute.

I quite disappointing many things were closed that weren't necessarily needed to be closed the tram ride was a train wreck they had zero organization who stood in line for over an hour with the safe distancing yet they were not at all proactive about how they can get their guests on the trams cleaned trams and reload the tramps understanding very expensive to Havasu the drink prices are just ridiculous $12 beers $13 sodas with a souvenir cup

This is a very good size zoo with beautiful foliage and landscaping. Very impressive Manatee hospital with up close encounters with the injured creatures. The Orangutan space is fantastic and they were wonderful to watch. Good food in the snack bars and great service. Good Covid precautions with masks and social distancing. Lots of birds exhibits and the Komodo dragon was a hit. Very large kid play area with rides and fun stuff for all ages.

It is worth the admission price to us as we had our 2 year old and 4 year old with and the kiddie park rides are all included with admission. Nice variety of animals and great habitats for them. We went back for day 2, added before we left on day 1 at guest services, and brought swim suits for the splash pad area, did more rides, and finished seeing all the animals. Staff were all friendly that we interacted with.

Clean, sanitary, masks aren't enforced outside. Which is nice. Animals looked kinda sad unfortunately. And the main food place closed at 3 which I way to early. Didn't get to try to pizza so kinda sad about that. Will definitely go back though. Have to try that pizza.

  • 3/5 Ingrid C. 3 years ago on Google
Place was nice. However, for the ticket price we paid, we deserved at least having access to the mayor rides which are currently closed. Only 2 of the children attractions were available. They should lower the ticket price since customers currently have no access to all attractions.

Wow, this is a fantastic zoo for all ages, the perfectly cool and interactive park of your dreams! My mom is animal obsessed so we always stop at a zoo basically anywhere we travel, so it’s safe to say I’ve seen quite a few zoos. It’s also safe to say ZooTampa is so different from every zoo I’ve been to- they have found a way to stand out and impress even me! It’s soo fun! All the animals are grouped by the continent you can find them in naturally, and then there’s a special section just for the celebrities you can find right in the backyard of FL! There are small amusement rides in every section and even shows throughout the day where you can interact up close and personal with various animals. Lots of little restaurants to eat at and stands to grab a quick drink or refresher. It’s hard to even describe but somehow ZooTampa has found a way to make their park so much more homey, it doesn’t feel so caged and like a circus or dirty and stuff like some other zoos feel. This feels just so nice and family-oriented, so laid back and purely enjoyable. I really am blown away impressed, so I say it’s definitely worth the visit!

The management care more about the money that the customer satisfaction. We bought the buy one ticket, enter the whole year, and nobody told us how to use it when we bought it so we thought we were going to be in the system by our name and email. We went again and they say that there is nothing appearing that we bought that ticket and they made us bought another one even thought we show them even the bank statement of the purchase. I had a similar situation with Bush garden park and since then I have never go back there and now I'm doing the same with this Zoo. They can keep the money but I'll make sure that no friends or family of mine go there.

At the safari line people were without mask, drinking alcohol and not following social distancing. Staff did nothing to address these issues! Also many people seemed to be drunk around the zoo. Masks should be mandatory as they do in Disney and temperatures should be checked. Overall I am very disappointed of my visit to Tampa Zoo and I do not recommend it.

This was the best zoo I have ever been too! It was large and not over crowded, and not overpriced. Despite the rain, the gift store had ponchos and umbrellas for sale so we could still enjoy the day. There was a wide variety or animals, as my favorite were the rescued manatees. Wonderful place with awesome staff. Will definitely come here again.

Our family loves this zoo; they have made so many improvements over the years as I’ve been told. It’s beautiful they have a wide variety of animals for viewing and the most important part for myself is they rescue and release Manatees!!!! Their viewing area ALONE is 100 percent worth the visit. If you are local invest in the membership you get great perks too so it’s easy to frequent.

My children and I travel Florida visiting state parks and zoo's. This is one of the best ones to visit by far. I love coming here and it is fun multiple times a year. My family went to the Halloween event which was after hours, my children loved the pirate magician and haunted house. As the evening went on it did feel more festive, but the walk ways were pretty much dark. I would recommend getting to the zoo as early as possible for special events as well as a normal visit as it does get crowded and waiting to get in can be tedious with little ones.

This is one of my most favorite places. The animals are well cared for and seem to be happy. The primates and birds are always playing. And there are so many different species having babies. The Zoo is never over crowded and they are always doing so much to make it better.

Tampa's Zoo may seem small but it makes up for it with the nicely segments of different regions. The Manatees on the Florida section are a must-see, but all other areas are certain to entertain, educate and delight your family.

10/10 would go again. Take some devil's lettuce and enjoy some beautiful animal's... Only downside is to many children. I wish they had like an adult only time so we can avoid the chaos that is children running around.

There were a ton if animals and my favorites were definitely the koala and the sea otters. They are amazing creatures. The sea otters were really active. But maybe you should be the judge of that. I loved my experience here at the zoo. It was beautiful and very active during my visit.

  • 5/5 Ellen L. 2 years ago on Google
Our family has loved this zoo for nearly 40 years. It's just the right size to bring little ones, with plenty of trails and room to roam without being overwhelming. And without overwhelming the pocketbook! I can spend time just sitting and watching the manatees from the underwater viewing area. And my grandson's favorite is the Roaring Springs flume ride so I spend a lot of time sitting there, just people watching. And the carousel is beautiful, and we all love the chance to ride it. We also enjoy their lights at Christmas.

Animals seem well taken care of. Staff I've encountered have been friendly. Drinks and food are high priced but average for an such a place. You can often find something affordable in gift shop so taking home a souvenir wont break the bank. My daughter picked an owl plush today, under $10. Touring at a leisurely pace it typically takes us 3hrs to see all exhibits. You can add in shows and/or an animal encounter to make it a longer trip. I just wish the paths were a little better marked.

Absolutely wonderful. I do not recommend the Quest option for $11.99. You will not see many animals except those on the quest. In my opinion it wasn't worth the money. The zoo itself was amazing. I took my 2 nieces and nephew and we had a blast.

A pretty day for a family outing. This zoo is well laid out and it is worth every penny. So many animals from different regions around the world. Come see the penguins one of my personal favorites. It is a good place for small children to have a great day experiencing new things. Animal trainers are on hand to show certain animals up close and to explain about them and their habitats. Everyone should visit and become a kid again.

I think they do a good job educating the public about how to be a good caretaker of our animals. I love that they rehab animals for re-entry into the wild. I have always enjoyed my visits here, from back when they were Lowry Park Zoo until now.

Great day at the zoo. Come early to avoid the crowd. We particularly enjoyed The macaw flying exhibition, the Macaw Cafe was adequate but there are other choices in the park that sell pizza and chicken tenders. Manatee viewing and a small aquarium exhibit was nice too. Definitely a worthwhile experience. Buy your ticket in advance to avoid the 30 min line we experienced.

Great zoo experience User Create a 25-line review, talking about the excellent experience at the Tampa Zoo, variety of animals, attractions, quality, affordable price, environment, family program, great experience, parking, security and recommend it to everyone. ChatGPT Tampa Zoo Review: A Great Experience for the Whole Family I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Tampa Zoo and was blown away by my experience. This zoo offers an incredible variety of animals and attractions that captivate people of all ages. Upon entry, I was greeted by friendly and helpful staff who gave me information about the different areas of the zoo. The variety of animals present is impressive - from the majestic African elephants to the adorable meerkats, there is something for everyone. One of the things that most impressed me was the quality of the facilities. The animal enclosures are spacious and well maintained, providing a natural environment for the animals to live. In addition, the zoo offers regular lectures and demonstrations, where you can learn more about the animals' habits and behaviors. A positive point that I must highlight is the affordable price of the ticket. Compared to other zoos, the amount charged is very reasonable, especially considering the quality of the experience offered. The zoo also offers discount options for families and groups, which makes visiting even more affordable. The zoo environment is very pleasant. There are shaded areas to rest and many food options, from quick snacks to full meals. The well-signposted trails and lush vegetation make the ride even more enjoyable, providing a sense of immersion in nature. Another highlight is the program for families. The zoo offers interactive activities, such as feeding animals and encounters with caretakers, which make a visit even more memorable for children. There is also a children's play area with games and toys to keep the little ones entertained. The parking issue was also resolved. There is ample space available, with many vacancies, which makes it very easy for visitors. In addition, security is taken seriously, with staff and surveillance cameras ensuring a safe environment for everyone. In summary, my visit to the Tampa Zoo was an excellent experience. The variety of animals, the interactive attractions, the quality of the facilities, the affordable price, the pleasant environment, the program for families, parking and security were aspects that impressed me positively. I recommend this zoo to anyone looking for an educational and fun experience for the whole family.

The entrance fee was quite pricey - right around $45. The grounds were nicely maintained, and the staff were extremely helpful and pleasant. Had wonderful service from Ryan at the gift shop where we picked up our electric carts for the day. They were also prepared to store our walkers for us in a secure area and were very quick to retrieve them when we arrived back. Food prices were more reasonable than I anticipated, I suggest purchasing their refillable beverage cups when you get there - you can skip the lines and refill the cup as often as you like with soda or icees.

We got a membership a few months ago and have been four times. It is small enough to see everything, but big enough to have some very cool animals. I love the talks they give about being good stewards of our incredible animals and their efforts towards conservation. When we lived here 25 years ago, my little ones loved going, and now taking them as adults is just as much fun.

  • 4/5 Marlene C. 7 months ago on Google
The zoo was not as big as I would have expected for a large city but was well laid out. A good variety of animals. We had to wait over 45 min for the safari truck ride. They only had one truck running.

  • 3/5 Bri T. 7 months ago on Google
For the price, it wasn’t worth it. But my son enjoyed seeing some of the animals we /did/ get to see. We did the giraffe experience; that was ok. Fed them for maybe 30 seconds each and then sat down, and aside from listening to them talk about giraffes, that was all. Again, for the price, not worth it to me. Overall just not a phenomenal time and I’ve been to better zoos. It was my son’s first, so at least this was fun for him!

  • 5/5 Angela D. 7 months ago on Google
My husband and I went to the zoo alone, no children lol. we're an older couple, but I just love animals. They seem very well looked after at this zoo. The staff are very friendly, the food is ok but a little expensive $39 for a small salad and a burger and fries, two drink, but if it's going to the Zoo I don't mind to much. The only thing is, we were looking for a certain ride to meet up to go see the elephants behind the scenes and asked two staff members who had no clue and actually sent us the wrong way. Having said that, we enjoyed our day.

  • 4/5 Joseph D. 6 months ago on Google
Never seems to disappoint, definitely not the biggest zoo I’ve been too but it’s got a wide variety of animals, there are also plenty of shops and places to grab a drink or snack as you make your way through the exhibit. We went at the end of august and it was brutally hot, unfortunately some of the animals were inside due to the heat.. but we still got to see a majority of them and snapped some awesome pics! Would love to come back during the cooler months!

One of the best Zoo's we have been to. The only zoo i have been to that has a ride. Yes the ride is short but refreshing on a hot day. The manatees are the best! All the employees were so knowledgeable and very helpful. This Zoo is a must stop.

We usually go to a zoo that is closer to where we live but wanted a new experience. This zoo has a lot of cool animals. We had fun walking around. There are areas they are working on and cannot be entered. We found some good BBQ at the center of the park. You have to try the mac&cheese. It's sooo good and cheesy.

The personnel were very nice and ready to assist if needed. They do offer strollers, wheelchairs and scooters for rent. The animals there appear healthy and it was clean. They have a lot of food, snack and drink booths throughout the park. There's a carousel, but adults aren't permitted to ride the animals on it. There's a small flume ride and a 30 minute "safari" in a comfortable vehicle. Unfortunately, a lot of animals were unavailable due to either construction or ??? No hyenas, no gorillas, no chimps, no camels, no tigers, no lions. The habitats appear small, but they're clean. Things are expensive. All animal encounters are only available for separate payments. I'm bummed that there wasn't more to do. I will say that for the price of two tickets, we now get to come and go until the end of 2024, yes 2024, for no extra cost, so that's nice and hopefully they'll improve. Also, word has it that they're talkin about destroying the clam shell that's been there forever to make way for more parking...I really hope they don't.

Super expensive, but all of the attractions are included with the price of admission (carousel, safari tour, ect). We went on a Tuesday in October so most kids were in school, and it was much more enjoyable since it wasn't packed! The zoo was much larger than expected! We were there for about 4 hours and still missed the Africa section. Also, the food and beer selection across the park was fantastic!

We had such a great day. The zoo is beautiful with lots of animals and attractions. The safari is a must! My 6 yearold daughter loved every second of her day. The grounds are kept clean. Tons to do!

My husband and I spent our honeymoon in St Pete Beach. On 2 of our rainy days we spent it at the zoo and we had a BLAST. All the exhibits were amazing and even in the rain all the animals were active! We also did the exhibit where we got to pet penguins. That was the highlight of our trip! The safari ride through the Africa exhibit was a fun experience as well! We got to see some of the animals up close. We would love to go back when the Australian exhibit is open! We loved visiting ZooTampa and if we are ever back in the area we will be back at the zoo!

My son had such an amazing time here. He was able to see his favorite animals and more. We had a really good time. The pictures they take of the family are a really fun memory to have.

One of our best investments for the family! Love the interactions with animals and staff. What wonderful creatures. Make sure to watch Secrets of the Zoo, Tampa on Disney+ to get the real behind the scenes stories before you go. What a dedicated crew! Christmas in the Wild is worth the annual ticket price, which is very affordable for a family. We love the Koala's and cant wait for the interaction events to open again. Join today and you won't be disappointed.
