It’s like hiking in Belize or some South American jungle, plenty of hills and trails, and the terrain is NOT flat like you’d expect in Florida. Plenty of wildlife and gators in the river, and just a great place to shutoff your phone and get one with Nature. Mountain bike trails are cool, and there’s ramps and jumps everywhere. Been there 5x and I’m always discovering something new! 7000 acres to explore. 5 stars for this gem!

Amazing mountain bike trail experience. Went for the first time, $5 fee per car and so many trails to explore. Remember to take your helmets. For beginners, Sand pine is a good trail. Our 5 year old was able to do it with little help. There is a bike rental store as well.

Very pleasant park with very clean & maintained facilities. There was much standing water producing swarms of mosquitos but it IS Florida! I walked around the horse loop side & will definitely go on that side if I visit again. A lot of brush had been push down in the loop I was in & was rather unsightly. The rangers were very pleasant & helpful & it's always fun to meet fellow campers. This is a popular destination for trail bikes but even though there were large groups on the weekend they were a fun to be around. I would certainly stay again but on the horse loop.

Did the guided First Day Hike on the Old Agrico Trail. An easy 1 mile loop. Haven't been out here since my son was in scouts. Learned a few new things from our trail guide. The bike trails were busy. They even have glamping tents available in the campsite area. Definitely will return!

Let's first start on the bathroom, can only speak for the men's. Loved it! Great showers, hot and plenty of room and hooks for your things. Very clean. Rate that a 10 when it comes to camping restrooms/showers. Easy pull- in or back-in spots. Great layout, with plenty of room at the site and separation from others. Sweet biking right from the site to the trails. Nice green runs, fun blues and the double blacks,? Well that was way over my head...ahhh! The staff was extremely friendly. All in all we didn't want to pack and go home!

Alafia River State Park is for all those who enjoy hiking as well as bicyclists. It has several trails which can be a challenge for seasoned hikers. A good place for the whole family to enjoy a bicycle ride along some of the best trails in Hillsborough county. We spent about two hours in the park, one hour was dedicated to hiking and one hour was devoted to riding along an easy bicycle trail. We'll visit this park again very soon.

We visited the park for the first time and really enjoyed it. The hiking trail was considerably more challenging than we expected. We enjoy seeing animals and their tracks and are fairly certain we found a fresh panther track, deer/hog tracks and a shark tooth!

Great State Park. I was expecting a typical, flat Florida park but since was an old abandoned phosphate mine there are lots of small hills and valleys. Lots of biking, hiking and horse trails. They also have a nice little campground with spread out campsites.

The best mountainbiking in Florida. I've been all over the place and somehow the jumps here in middle Florida were just as well built as the world-class jumps at Kanuga or Jarrod's Place. Hats off, had a wonderful time. Also bring a hardtail.

Nice park for hiking. We took our pup so we stuck to the smaller trail. Can’t wait to go back and explore!

Loved our stay here. First we did the Glamping site for a couple nights, then we got an RV and came back because it was so peaceful. And not packed. Great camp for the mountain bikers. Dog friendly. And the wild life running past you all times of day was perfect. Staff very friendly as well as the other campers.

Best, most exciting mountain mtb park in Florida and one of the best in the world in my book. This past phosphate mine is covered in steep punchy up and down hills, lots of berms, jumps, drops and thrilling trails through beautifully shaded trails with sitings of deer, gators, gopher tortoises, armadillos, hawks, owls and much more. Park also has bathrooms, fountains, bike wash, full service bike shop with rentals, campgrounds, hiking trails, horse trails for a fun day trip or week long vacation.

Lots of trails for hiking and biking (and it is pet friendly)! Joan of Bark had a blast exploring through the crazy elevation changes of this reclaimed phosphate mine. 🐶🐾 Joan gives it 5/5 paw prints

Amazing for bike riders! All the road trails are well sight and visible. Restrooms are clean and close to the parking. The park is really clean and the green areas are beautiful. There's are different trails. You can ask for the map on the main entrance . Weekends could be very crowded for bike beginners but absolutely convenient for professional riders so you can join a group and make friends. If you are a bike lover, you'll love the place since you will be able to see a huge variety of bikes . For sure, it is the best place to ride close the area . It worh it .

Really nice park. Went for a hike, but there are a lot of awesome dirt bike trails here as well. I'll be back with my bike for sure. Trail map is not good or to scale. A good ammount of birds and deer here. Be careful, the trail I longer then it looks :) bring water.

The park is beautiful!! So many birds. Rabbits. The sunset. The campsite. All wonderful. The only thing that could make it better would be either no alcohol allowed or a way to screen those who are not mature enough to drink responsibly. So, I guess no alcohol would be the solution. And perhaps a ban on having to listen to THEIR music, now that the sun has just set. While I was recording an amazing red cardinal singing its heart out, the drunks were swearing, laughing way too loud and yelling at their barking dog...so wonderful to come and not enjoy nature. Please, please, stay home and get drunk in your back yard. Listen all the music you want. Not here. ☹️

This place is great. If you have kids, look into getting them swore in to become Jr Rangers at a national park. They will get badges and pins and activities. The lady that swore my kids in was very nice. At the ranger station they had all kinds of cool stuff. And $5 to enter, can be paid by cash, card, or online ahead of time. The Agrico trail was great! There were so many elevation changes, it was very un-Florida. It is also right by the playground so the kids can play there too. There are also some pretty cool mountain biking trails.

Go ride your bike there. If you're any good you can do the big stuff. If you're not any good, you can do the green trails and it's all good. If you don't like deer, steer clear. Campsites are spacious and ours was shady.

Very nice state park. Plenty of parking and restrooms. Camping, bike trails and shop, hiking. The hiking trails are really nice and it really feels like your in true wilderness. They sell cute patches at the main entrance I bought both styles.

Beautiful rustic campground. Rv section has water and electric, a fire ring and most sites have lovely mature trees. The sites are spaced out so you dont feel like you have a roommate instead of a neighbor.

If you're looking for a place to do some mountain biking there's not many places better than this in Florida. Parking was easy. Bathrooms. And a bike store that sells cold drinks And parts in case you break anything. I have some really cool short videos of us Mountain biking through the trails. Unfortunately I'm not able to post videos on maps for some reason 🥲

Came to Alafia for a December Ragnar Trail event. The park itself is very beautiful, offering a variety of cool mountain biking trails (though a few of the bridges could use a little repair/maintenance). Did not get to see many critters, but there was evidence of turtle nests near where we were camping, and a rattlesnake was spotted on one of the trails. Lots of beautiful spanish moss, green-covered ponds, and little cacti. Looking forward to coming back to visit again next year!

Chaotic yet charming? Really engaging walk with lots of hills and things to see. Also, if you want to enter, best to make sure you choose an actual entrance— the glamping company entrance is a good one :) The trails are not super clearly marked so I definitely got very lost and ended up going in some absurd circle back to the parking lot— but it was the quickest hour of my life! Very fun and interesting, just strong Bermuda Triangle vibes. Lots of gators and people on bikes. Pack a compass or find a better map than I did 🤷🏼‍♀️ I will definitely be going back!

The staff is very friendly and helpful. The mountain bike trails are plentiful and address different skill levels. The hiking trails…not so much. Yes, there are hiking trails available but they are limited. Hikers are not permitted on the mountain bike trails. Other nearby parks are more accessible for hiking and also more interesting

So 1st time coming the little red dude was complaining about the 5 dollar tab which at others its usually 2 but the guy in white was chill give them the 5 and see what you like. Idk if the region supports a better environment, but the verity of vegetation is something to see. Your eyes will definitely have plenty to feast on. Terrain is awesome for those who wanna chill hike or run with some action involving many ups and downs at least on the old agrico trail. Definitely plan to venture deeper into this gem of a park
