I
went
to
the
WD,
bypassing
Publix,
with
the
intention
of
buying
some
shrimp
and
having
them
steam
them
for
me.
When
the
Clerk,
in
the
seafood
dept,
said
that
he
could
not
steam
the
shrimp
because
the
steamer
was
broken,
I
paused,
took
a
long
look
at
him,
and
put
the
shrimp
back
and
decided
that
Publix
would
be
my
go
to
grocery
store
moving
forward.
I
know
this
may
sound
a
bit
overboard
but,
this
incident
was
just
the
icing
on
the
cake.
What
actually
set
this
decision
to
make
Publix
my
primary
grocery
store
moving
forward
in
motion
was
the
fact
that
when
I
pulled
up
to
WD,
I
saw
this
young
person
outside
with
a
very
long
line
of
shopping
carts,
struggling
to
maneuver
them
after
a
driver
refused
to
stop
in
order
not
to
stop
a
the
momentum
that
this
person
had
built
up
to
push
the
carts.
I
have
seen
this
task
of
pushing
carts
many
times
before;
however,
this
was
the
first
time
I
decided
to
voice
my
concerns
about
the
safety
of
the
employee's
who
are
tasked
with
trying
to
maneuver
and
navigate
those
extremely
heavy
carts.
I
wanted
to
know
why
Winn
Dixie
had
not
invested
in
the
electronic
cart
pusher
like
Walmart?
Therefore,
before
I
did
my
shopping,
I
went
to
the
customer
service
to
ask
where
or
how
would
I
be
able
to
send
a
letter
to
voice
my
concerns.
There
were
two
people
at
the
desk,
a
young
woman
and
a
young
man.
When
I
stated
why
I
had
stopped
there
to
get
an
address,
the
young
woman
turned
and
walked
towards
the
cash
register
and
started
writing
something
down.
While
I
remained
with
the
young
man,
I
asked
him
where
were
the
corporate
offices
of
Winn
Dixie.
He
hunched
his
shoulders
and
shook
his
head
and
said
that
he
didn't
know.
This
prompted
me
to
ask
if
he
was
a
new
employee.
Again,
with
the
shaking
of
the
head,
he
said
no.
Then,
the
young
woman
walked
back
up
and
handed
me
a
piece
of
paper
with
a
phone
number
on
it
but
no
explanation
as
to
what
the
phone
number
was
to.
I
then
asked
her
what
was
corporates
address
and
she
at
least
used
words
when
she
said,
"I
have
no
idea."
I
felt
like
they
both
thought
I
was
asking
for
the
personal
home
address
of
the
corporate
officers.
Being
frustrated
with
the
pair
at
the
"Customer
Service"
desk,
I
went
back
to
the
seafood
dept
and
when
the
Clerk
told
me
that
the
steamer
was
not
working,
that
was
the
icing
because
not
only
did
I
now
feel
that
the
faces
of
Winn
Dixie
were
clueless
but,
being
told
that
the
steamer
wasn't
working
after
being
told
this
same
thing
a
month
earlier
was.
I
remember
when
Winn
Dixie
was
known
as
Quick
Check
✔️
or
at
least
that's
what
I
know
that's
what
my
grandmother
called
it
and
then
there
was
Winn
Dixie.
I
grew
up
shopping
here
but,
I'm
done.
More
than
50
years
of
shopping
experience
ended.
