Run by a delightful Mexican American extended family, the food is absolutely authentic Mexican, not some Americanized Tex-Mex version. The food is superb, and the folks who prepare and serve it are the most genuine and friendly people that you could ever wish to meet. Five Stars are just not enough. I would give it Five Thousand stars if I could. You will not be disappointed if you give it a try, and I guarantee that you will return again and again. They have been in this location for many years and the taste of the food shows their experience. I recommend it highly!!!!

El Gallo Tortilleria and Taco Stand is the best place I have found in Hillsborough county for authentic Mexican street tacos. No place is better than this one, though there may be others that are just as good. These tacos are the same kind of tacos you will find in Tijuana and Rosarito, Mexico. The tacos here are better than you can find in San Diego, CA. These tacos are made for the Mexican palate, a bit on the spicey side by the standards of the American palate. You know they are legit because 1. the cook doesn't speak much English (But don't worry about the language barrier, the cook speaks enough English to take good care of you.), 2. the local migrant farm workers come here for lunch, 3. the tortillas are made fresh, by hand. The kitchen is clean. The tacos are served burning hot (hot enough to kill any germs). Medium to Hot & Spicey level by American standards. Green or Red salsa available, both fresh made. Local white country folks also know about this place. All are welcome. Don't be shy! The friendly Mexican ladies will treat you right. Only $1.50 per taco because that's all the migrant workers can afford to pay. Wealthy west-coast foodies have not yet discovered this place. Take advantage of it before it becomes too successful! Real deal. None finer. Authentic. Spanish language. Mexican. Great value. Hole in the wall. Local secret.

Friendly people and authentic food at reasonable prices. My wife and I enjoyed it and will be back. Pretty sure they are cash only though so keep that in mind.

Everything I tasted was excellent! I will be coming back. Our waiter was on it the entire time! One more thing, the ambiance is so relaxing and kick back. Please come here! You’ll love it!
