Great place for dogs and their owners. Been enjoying this park for 20 years with several dogs. Just be aware that too much salt water can dehydrate your dog, and what went in does come out. Usually need a break after 30 to 40 minutes osf swimming.. After a swim we go to Davis Island Business District for a snack. Dog loves Margarita's for tacos. All restaurants ate dog friendly. My dogs enjoy this outing, which we do 3 to 4 times a month.

Despite a 3/5 rating it was a good time but I didn’t like how many people without dogs use this place as a regular beach. It was impossible to get away from the crowd of people who were grilling, on a picnic, taking pictures, smoking weed, blaring music, fishing, camping ect. The crowd + partying + people constantly asking to pet my dog was a little sensory overload. We had a good time… but this isn’t a park you’ll find relaxing or comfortable going off leash. Nearly every beach in the area is strictly ‘no dogs allowed’ so it would be nice to have a dog beach where they could run and play. If you visit, I’d air on the side of caution when letting your dog swim because people do fish here.

Today was my first experience at Davis Island Dog Beach. Much to my dismay there was a large pack of 20 dogs supposedly being controlled by one guy who claimed to be a dog trainer. It was very disconcerting because he definitely did not have control. The dogs climbed on picnic tables ganged up on other peoples dog. If they these dogs had amplified their aggression who knows what would have happened. My 89 year old aunt was sitting on one of the benches 2 dogs climbed behind her. What if this had turned bad. The guy tried to call them off but the dogs didn’t listen.

Perfect beach for letting your dogs run and play. It's clean and they provide fresh water for drinking and rinsing off and poop bags. This was our dog's first time at a beach and he absolutely loved it. We'll definitely go there again.

Fantastic enclosed dog beach. This was our dogs first experience with the ocean and a beach and this place was perfect. The other dogs were all friendly and their owners were very attentive to their dogs. There was an area where we could wash off the dogs when we were done and there was lots of dog shampoo that people leave for others to use. Best place around and very clean and safe.

Fully fenced beach front doggy park.. 2 separate areas 3 total. Main, fully fenced (water side too for super swimmers) and non social dog area.. waters clean and warm, deep enough for real doggy paddling.. park supplies poo bags and trash, plus water fountain and rinse area.. oh, and the people are nice too..

We are from Indiana and we took our 6 month old puppy to Davis Island Dog beach and had a blast! It was his first time ever being in the water as well as around other dogs. The fenced in area is perfect to let him off the leash and run around! I’m so glad there was a safe place like this to take him to.

Had a very good time. First time for my dog and he loved it. The beach is well fenced and clean. Most people are responsable and are taking care of their dogs. I really enjoyed spending this moment with him! There is also a dog park next to it.

We love taking our pups to this dog beach. There's tons of room for them to freely run, we've always met other amazing dogs and dog-parents, our kids enjoy seeing all the different breeds, and at the end of your play session there's a hose to rinse them off or to give them some water. We definitely always enjoy going!

So for the last few years, the water is pretty brown so I don’t go in. I do wish I could swim with my dog. Nonetheless, it’s the only dog beach in Tampa so I take my pet anyways. It’s fun, though! I’ve never had a problem with other dogs or their owners there. I recommend at least going once so you have the experience for yourself. Also, they have hoses to wash your dog afterwards. It’s great!

This is one of my favorites to come visit while I"m in Tampa. Usually not crowded and there are the locals who are respectful of out of towners. Make sure to give your dogs fresh water after being in the play area.

This is the only dog beach we visit. It's in a beautiful and scenic area. Beautiful homes line the streets on your way to the beach. It's nice that there are a fenced dog play and relief area directly across the street. We haven't experienced aggressive dogs while there (although I'm sure it happens like at all dog parks), but quite the opposite. Most people and dogs are very friendly. We’ve met several dogs who were overly fond of my girl pup, and frequented for treats and belly rubs. This is actually where we taught my dog how to swim (or ensured that she knew how).

I love bringing my dog here. Every dog we’ve encountered has been well tempered for the most part. It’s always clean and well taken care of. The pet parents pick up after their dogs which is the most important thing to me. Lots of places for your dog to explore and sniff. They even have another regular dog park right next door if you don’t want to go to the beach area. They have hoses that you can use afterwards to spray your dog off, very convenient.

My dog LOVES this beach and so do I! My girlfriend wanted a puppy and even though I tried to warn her about the nuances of puppy ownership…and boy was I right… But any who I take little penny here as much as I can to wear out her energy! The dogs are playful and fun! The view is great too! By the end of a short trip she is exhausted for the next 2 days. Then she acts like a normal dog. It’s great and free!

Lovely dog beach with a good hose for washing off on your way out. Amazing to someone with limited dog parks. Totally enclosed to the water, so unless your pooch is a marathon swimmer, it’s all good. Other patrons… rate a 4. My dog will take offense if you nose around in mommy’s purse and that’s on you - not me. Handled with ease and courtesy though. All good.

Just relocated to the area and this wasn't here when I lived here about 15 years ago. Great beach! Went on a Sunday and there were a lot of dogs, all different sizes. I have a 13yo Pomeranian that has never been to the beach. He loved it and I will definitely make it there a couple of times a month even though I live in North St. Pete. Most people I met were very friendly and one even warned me about any aggressive dogs. But for the most part it was a good time.

Took my pup there and it was great the first hour, the dogs were having a great time swimming and playing. Then a lady came and aggressively kicked my sweet dog who I just rescued THREE times for jumping around her dog. I felt it was an unsafe environment so I left and took him to another park :(

Great beach for dogs, small and not too crowded. Great view with all the boats and sea birds. Our dog enjoyed the water and rolling around in the sand.

Lots of fun for dogs. Completely fenced so you can let them run free while enjoying the beach. Lots of parking. The only improvement that would be great is if they could add some bathrooms.

The beach was very quiet and my family enjoyed the privacy of being one of the handful of people on it. It's not as big as we thought and the water was calm. The view is just the yachts anchored in the water. We highly recommend the dog beach as well as it is nice for a dog beach and fenced in. We'd prefer there wasn't manufacturing buildings so close that might be negatively effecting the water's quality. Overall we enjoyed our visit, but will probably only return to partake in the dog beach portion with our puppy.

This place is great, but I wish they would permanently chain up the single gate. Everyone likes to use the single gate instead of the airlock and those are of course the people who don’t pay attention to other dogs that might try to escape.

Love this place. The beach is all sand and the water is clean and shallow for quite a ways out. We bring our small dogs here and though there are two separate areas we stay in the main area and never have trouble with bigger dogs. Owners need to be attentative since it is an off leash area.

It was amazing my dog loved it so many sweet doggos and it was fenced in the only thing i would say was a down fall was the water was orange and some lady let her dog pee in the water.

Nice fenced-off dog beach next to the small airport on the island. Waste bags and waste cans are provided. It's about 100 feet wide and is open to the water. There are places to sit.

Stop bring your dogs if they don’t get alone with other dogs and/or you can’t control them! Ruining the experience for other people. Two times now I have experienced a really nice hour then someone coming in with their dog who does not get along with other dogs and getting into fights and owners who are unwilling to break it up. Ruining it for the good dogs and owners

We love bringing our dogs here!!! Like anywhere else, keep an eye on your dog as people tend not to keep an eye on their dogs. We have been here a few times and we enjoy ourselves.

Water isn’t too great but the dogs love it. There’s many dogs here that are friendly. There’s a water fountain for dogs and an area to wash them off. Fenced in so dogs can run leash-free. There’s also a grassy big dog park as well

My pup and i LOVED this dog beach. We went around noon on a Saturday and he had lots of other doggos to play with and the water was shallow. i felt very safe at the beach, and everyone was very friendly. I do not recommend swimming in it though.

Absolutely great place to bring your dog for some fun in the water! Very friendly place great atmosphere for all. Unico did not care much for the water at first but now can not get him out! Would have gave 5 stars but something to be said about the porta potty, need to clean more often. But all in all great place!

Went for the first time today with my pup he’s ten months old. Extremely overwhelming! Very small and over crowded. Some people’s dogs were very aggressive approaching and growling. The views were beautiful around the other side, the dog park is just too small there had to be at least 30/35 dogs there seemed to chaotic but the dogs were having a good time. I didn’t let my dog off his leash and only stayed about ten minutes.

Davis Dog Beach is a nice small beach for the doggies to get in some social time... with their caregivers and other dogs. There are a few areas that you can take your dog. The main area is where most dogs go. However, if your dog likes more of a quiet space then there are two other smaller spaces you can take them.

  • 4/5 Janira B. 3 years ago on Google
Small but great for the dogs to run around. They also have a wash off area. Not exactly a great idea to setup a picnic and talk about sparkling water that taste like flower.. 😂 (a lady was getting irritated about other dogs ruining her setup that was for her dog).

One of my favorite beaches to take my yorkie. The dogs can actually run free, no leashes required unlike some of the dog beaches (Honeymoon Island Dog Beach). This dog beach is second only to Fort DeSoto dog beach.

My current rating is because I went on a Sunday, as opposed to the first time which was on a Monday. It was very crowded and the humans were not very polite and were NOT cleaning up after their dogs! One dog was having bowel issues that wasn't very nice to see 🤢! Much more pleasant during the week. Very disappointing day for the 3 of us.

Súper nice and cute. The beach wasn’t one I would normally go and hang out on but it was perfect for our dogs. It’s all fenced off so you don’t have to worry about your dogs running away. There is a little dog shower too.

The beach part was pretty crowded and I didn't notice any dogs in the water maybe I should've went earlier but the park itself had plenty of dogs and was very clean. My dog got to run a bunch.

I love this dog beach but every now and then, there’s a bad egg. It’s almost always a human who ignores their dog, having a long conversation with someone else - in person or on their phone. This causes their dog to run around starving for attention so badly, they behave badly. Consistently, there’s a guy who parks himself and his two bullmastiffs who are NOT socialized and WILL run at you barking if you walk anywhere near their human. Today, they caused my dog and I into the water to wade around to the other side (first section) of the dog beach. He never leashes them…including all the way out to the parking lot. They’ve also come up to my car, when I was trying to take my dog out of the car and not in a friendly way either. Steer clear of this man and his dogs!
