Scenic location that’s photo perfect. Beautiful sights to see. There’s an observation tower that has wide flat ramp all the way to the top platform that can accommodate wheels. It has a slight incline. You can see 360 degree views from any level. You don’t have to go all the way to the top to see an ocean view. Free to the public beach and nature preserve. Lots of beach and trails to walk and explore. Outhouse/latrine type public bathrooms on premises. We did not use them. No idea how clean they are. Nice that they are available. We visited during snowbird season midweek. Plenty of parking and not too packed. Probably could fit a vehicle in tow in parking lot. It you’re passing through and want a nice picnic area, it would be a good spot. There are a lot of sharp little shells in the sand in this area. Some rocky areas around trails. No swimming. The people who were in the water were idiots that ignored picture/easy to read signs warning no swimming because of the strong current. It’s disheartening to see people allow their young children to take such risks when there’s plenty of other beaches to take them to. This is just a great place to lay out in the sand on a beach towel and relax with ocean breeze. It’s peaceful and serene even with other people sharing the same views. There’s park rangers on premises. I felt pretty safe and comfortable in this area.

Mad respect to the grounds keeper individually picking up confetti from a recent gender reveal on the beach, the beach itself did not allow for swimming because of high current tides. The The raise platform provided excellent viewing opportunities. Just try not to stare at the power plant.

Beautiful place to visit! No swimming available but plenty of walking trails, beach, and a look out tower that was handicap accessible and perfect for seeing the skyline and ocean. Dog friendly and many well behaved, leashed pups were enjoying their time also. Plenty of parking was available and they have smaller shelters with picnic tables for public use. Benches are also available all over for public use. Restrooms are available but similar to port a potty's so they serve their purpose but not clean. Easy to find location and definitely a great place to visit for all ages and walks of life.

Great little park! Great observation tower in the middle with ramps in place of stairs! A clean bathroom building. Several picnic pavilions along an open grassy field. Three sandy beach areas connected with a network of sand single track trails. All around a hidden little gem in the Apollo Beach area!

Very nice and well kept area. Parking can be an issue around sunset. There is no charge to get in or park. There is no swimming allowed, but there is a small beach. The tower allows for some beautiful sunset photos.

Like the nearby Manatee Viewing Center, this is free. It has a wooden observation tower you can walk up or is wide enough for wheelchairs. It is a bit of an incline. There is a beach there (no swimming allowed), a couple of shelters, and a trail you can walk near the beach. There are a couple of restrooms onsite. Overall very scenic, and I might have spent more time there at the little beach if I had thought ahead and dressed for the occasion.

Nice little park to enjoy some sun and waves. You can not swim here. You may also occasionally see dolphins or manatees.

This park is Awesome. Brought the family out for some kayaking. They rent them there very reasonable priced. Everyone had a blast. There are a few playground s for the children. They also have a Great boat ramp there. Great place to spend a day.

This park is great for fishing, boating, camping, walking, and nature viewing. There are lots of wildlife to be seen. There’s plenty of parking. The boat ramp is very well maintained and the other facilities are clean and nice. It’s a great dog-friendly park, so be sure to bring your furry family members too.

Cool little place. Small trail down to the water, you can sit but no swimming This is not a beach to swim at. Incredible views from atop the tower. Limited parking. The park is in a residential neighborhood. Usually clean, not littered like other parks. Some covered seating areas.

Beautiful scenery and not crowded, BUT they do not allow swimming or wading. You can see both downtown Tampa and St. Pete from the beach...pics below (the clearer pic is Tampa).

I loved this beach. I had never been there before. it's super quiet. Few people go. parking is free. for children it is great because the water is calm without waves and the place is perfect to watch the sunset. dont forget to bring everything you need because there is nothing nearby to buy

Glad this place is well preserved for the enjoyment of ordinary people. Rich people's mansions blocked the view, so this is the only spot in Apollo Beach you can watch the sunset.

If the smell of burning pollution and the view of smoke stacks and a landfill appeal to you, then this might be the beach for you! You're not supposed to swim in the water but if you choose to, you can in the coves that are about 2 feet deep. Anything outside of the coves, the current will sweep you away. (Search up the 3 drownings last summer.) The view all around is honestly extremely ugly. People smoking cigarettes on the beach plus the smell of the burning pollution was really bad. This is probably the worst "beach" I've ever been to.

As a local I was disillusioned to see our formerly beautiful sandy public beach barred with fencing and signage prohibitting any water or sand access. Instead we now have a shale walking trail along the fence and a wheel chair accessible ramped viewing platform. All in all a D- compared to how it used to be. Thanks Hillsborough County Commissioners. I'm sure the 5+ million dollar surrounding houses appreciate your changes.

Well maintained preserve with a small hiking trail. It's very crowded on the weekends, but the weekday mornings aren't so bad. The beach is not for swimming. If you want to get in the water, I'd skip this one.

We’ve visited this park several times, sometimes it’s desolate and sometimes super crowded. They just installed a viewing tower which offers really expansive views of the bay. We’ve found some cool fossils here in the past! Nice little sandy beach, no swimming allowed (but people do it anyway). A good place to spot native plants and birds.

Great little preserve outside of Tampa. The quiet community of Apollo Beach have a lovely preserve right under their feet. The short little walking trail through the mangroves is quite fun. Lots of sea birds flying over head. The beach area is small, but cute. The signs say no swimming, but apparently that is loosely followed as quite a few people were splashing around. However, shore fishing seems to be the activity of choice around here. Will be back to explore again.

We had 2 kayaks on a trailer & entry fee to the park was just $2 .. The course was marked and we had a great time. Awesome canoe/kayak launch sloops. Kayak washing station nest to launch. Here on a Saturday and only a handful of kayaks. Most of them were fishing. Two campgrounds & water access at dozens of picnic tables & campsites. This place is HUGE ! Many playgrounds & nice restrooms & many pavilions. The beach is closed maybe because after Labor Day? We have been at most every kayak spot in Tampa Bay. This is one of the nicest places without a doubt !!

This Nature Preserve is at the northern tip of this waterfront community, facing Tampa Bay with St. Pete to the west and Tampa to the north. The sunset view is wonderful. No swimming no wading signs are visibly posted but beach goers go into the water anyway. The areas are well protected and the water is clear. It's hard to stay away.

I spoke with Mackenzie and Samantha from the staff caring for the manta rays and they were exceptionally knowledgeable and were willing to share their knowledge. I asked questions and they went out of their way to give examples and pulled models and displays to fully explain my questions. I'm sure that after answering the same questions multiple times a day, it must be exasperating. But, they did it with a smile. I highly recommend them both as it made my visit much more enjoyable and informative. Now, the site itself is clean well maintained and is a excellent family friendly facility. I do recommend this exhibit.

It’s a beautiful white sandy beach. No swimming allowed. The water is clear. However, there is some manatee bodily fluids on the water and shore. Fishing is allowed. There’s a viewing tower, a picnic area and a trail. • Cost: Free • Parking on-site • Wheelchair accessible on the tower and picnic area

This would be a lovely place to sit and relax or read. I visited on a very windy and not-so-warm day but I will be visiting on a nice day for sure. It's an option that is nearby and can provide pretty views.

Beautiful, recently re-opened nature preserve that has loads of walking trails to explore and an observatory from which to view St. Pete or the manatees that swim into the warm waters from the nearby TECO power plant. Loads of spots for fishing along the bay. Nice change of pace from EG Simmons Park or Little Harbor, especially if you want something quieter!

The park offers lovely views and great sunsets! For whatever reason, the park has closed off half of the parking spaces after the installation of the new observation tower. Not really sure why. They also closed off all the parking just outside the park thus limiting the amount of people who can visit :( If you are looking to swim, not your best choice but great for fishing.

Haven't been out to Apollo Beach in a while while we went out there and found out the tower up it was really nice and kind of had a little daylight to see what's going on and everything so it has just come from Oklahoma soccer we took them out there hoping to see the manatees but that didn't happen but other than that beautiful sunset new camera so I just thought I'd take a few shots that's all I didn't know what they turn out like someday I'll go back there

I kinda stumbled on this place driving aimlessly, bored on a weekend since there's nothing else to do these days. I liked that it's dog friendly - so many preserves aren't. Not really a lot to do other than wall the short trail or fish, but it's worth checking out. The massive treatment plant takes away from some good photo ops, but I guess it has to go somewhere.

This was a cute little place. We would go back, but not until everything opens, again. We didn't mind paying $2, but unfortunately, due to Covid, no swimming or using picnic tables. We had our lunch, at the playground, on a bench. Want to revisit, to go canoeing & swimming.

First time here. Drove through the whole place, stopped and put our feet in the water. It was beautiful and peaceful. Lots of people launching boats, kayaks, and canoes. This place always has availability, which is the only thing that's is good, and now we know why. There is a park ranger believed to be named Wesley, who did nothing but herssed my 68 yr old disabled veteran mother. He only approached to say something to her when no one else was at the camp site. There were 7 plus a baby. Not to mention one morning he went speeding(well over the speed limit required by the park)by the camp site on his cell phone, HELLO, you know there's a baby here. Would not recommend anyone to EVER stay here as long as that park ranger is there. SUCH A HORRIBLE FAMILY TRIP. Reports are filed.

  • 4/5 phyllis f. 3 years ago on Google
The raccoons were everywhere and a nuisance. We couldn't sit out without a raccoon or two coming up looking for something. They were trying to get in other campers things too. They were out day and night. If they had not been such a nuisance the park and camping would be a five star.

The manager is very rude and condescending, also kayak rentals end at 1 even though kayaking ends at 5. All I wanted was to kayak with my little brother and the man there was extremely rude to me and basically said he didn’t believe I would be back before 5. Even though that is 4 hours away. Park itself is beautiful and I saw a raccoon which was pretty cool. :)

This is a great place for a nice walk and from what I saw fishermen like it here too. I saw many fish pulled in in this neighborhood. One boat was sitting just offshore and there were three or four people fishing on it and they had to run it into a school of fish I'm not sure what kind but they were catching them left and right it was real fun to watch.

Cool place right on the bay, but off the beaten path. Hillsborough county's closest competitor to Fort Desoto (without the historical significance). Beautiful Olde Florida feel, right on the Tampa Bay. They have a very nice boat ramp and washdown facilities, playground, walking trails, picnic areas and pavilions. During Covid-19 shut down they said you cannot use the picnic areas, simply because they don't have a way to disinfect them.

  • 4/5 Donna H. 3 years ago on Google
This Campground is beautiful. This park is beautiful. The campsites are pretty close to each other and there's minimal privacy but you back up to a canal which is lovely. There are only two complaints there are tiny little bugs. The other complaint I have is that some people use the facilities and forget to flush, gross! They have minimal recycling, bottles and cans. Fishing is allowed as long as you have a license and follow the guidelines.

Bathroom was clean, good showers with hot water. Nice dressing areas. All sites are on the water, some on both sides. Very nice boat ramps, boat washes, playground, picnic areas, fishing piers. WHAT MORE DO YOU NEED?

Beautiful, especially nice break from larger crowded beaches, rangers are very friendly at the gate and throughout the park.

Great spring day to get outside. Parking was a little tight since park was busy. Walked to the top of the structure overlooking tampa bay with beautiful views of Tampa and St Pete. Nice beach but not big area. Was busy the day I went due to spring break.

Nice small beach and nature preserve area. We enjoyed standing at the top of the tower and looking out over the water. We went on Sunday afternoon, and the place was packed. There is a good amount of parking but it was totally full. Lots of people on the beach and walking their dogs around the trail areas. Family and dog friendly.

Why come? You can walk, you can enjoy the spray from the beach, walk on the sand, fly kites, have picnics, search for seashells and hidden treasures, and get excited a fabulous ramp for an exceptional view of the entire reserve where you can climb around 4 floors with your wheelchair, walker, your baby's stroller and take exceptional photos and videos, I saw a lady with her walker and her smile was priceless when she reached the top… You will love it!!!

I love seeing both skylines from one spot, St Pete and Tampa. I love walking on the trails, along the water. It kind of makes you feel like a kid exploring!

Nice spot for a little getaway with pleasant scenery. Parking can be a challenge but it's worth the visit. Nice observation tower to look across the bay.

Manatee VIEWING Center was not open till 10am so we drove to Apollo. Looked at map and saw this place. Beautiful houses to admire on the drive to the park. NO CHARGE to get into park. Beautiful nature preserve to visit in the morning, sand was cool to walk on. Saw some unique seashells. People doing a yoga class, nice views.

Do not come here thinking you're getting in the water because you are not.. The scenery is beautiful and the water only about ankle deep for about as far as you could see.. We were told there is a strong undertow,, I can't imagine why anybody would go out that far,, anyway.. Another fine example of being as free as they'll let us be.. Consider this just a heads up.. If you're going there to go in the water it will not happen.. You want somewhere to walk and hang out see some beautiful scenery it's the perfect place.. It's just weird to me to be told you can't go in the water at the beach..🤷
