Most amazing experience I've had. My husband is handicap and was not able to tour the underground cave so I went by myself. They made me feel very safe, not once did I feel alone and Danny was my tour guide could not have asked for a better one. He never stopped smiling and genuinely loved his job and knew so much about the cave answered every question and just has a smile from ear to ear always. I literally cried at the point where we were in the cave swimming under the earth in water so clear and pure, Danny had us turn our flashlights off and it was darker than black quieter then silence and I just felt every emotion a woman could. The zen in this place is unreal and words cannot describe how magical the earth can be. The set up leading up to the tour was very organized and very friendly staff, again making my experience the most memorable one yet. Pictures do not do this place justice. I will go for the longer tour next time around. Thank you Danny and the staff if Rio Secreto. I've been in many excursions and this is by far the best one I left a peice of me there in Mexico.

Great experience in the riviera Maya. I thought the cave was going to be mickey mouse tourist paved and lit up. It was not. All headlamp lit, pure fun, and a safe adventure. We'll done tour! One tip, the walking stick is optional.... not sure why, but definitely take it!!!

One of the best excursions I have ever done! It was amazing. Daniele was a great guide. We were outfitted with life jackets, wet suits, helmets, and walking sticks. We had a place to store our stuff. It was an easy, short walk to cave entrance. The inside of the cave was so neat and interesting to learn about. I felt like an adventurer not a tourist. We had about 90 minutes inside and our own photographer. Afterwards, we were provided towels and changing time. We viewed our photos were we ate lunch. Would highly recommend.

Fantastic, unique experience to explore caves up to 78 feet below the surface. The staff and tour guides are very friendly and safety conscious. Best done in groups of 4-10 people as you must assist each other through the cave walkways. Physical exertion is moderate but you must be able to navigate slippery rocks and tight spaces. Absolutely would do this again!

Really recommend Rio Secreto. The tour guide (victor) was great. It was a small group tour of the caves. You swim through them about half the time and walk through the other half. Water is cold but wet suit keeps you pretty warm. They charge a lot for photos and don't allow you to bring a camera or phone along. Would be fine but photographers didn't do a good job and missed a lot of good shots. After the caves we did the biking through the jungle which was nice, would have liked a little more time on the bike. We then went rappelling down into another cave, was fun and wish we could have rappelled a few more times. Then we went to another cave with the room of silence. They give you a recording to listen to which was mildly interesting but this part of the day was definitely not the highlight. Would highly recommend the experience overall

This place is phenomenal!!! I think our guide made it such an amazing experience. However, sadly, I can't remember her name. This place is for those seeking a little bit of adventure. When you meet at the location a van picks you up, and takes you to another area where the adventure begins. You start off walking inside the cave. You put some headphones on to hear about the caves. It's an interesting story. Once you are done with the walking, get ready to ride a bike to the next adventure. Your bike ride takes you to the repelling section. I was a little nervous, but it really wasn't that bad. Afterwards, you bike to the final adventure. You get into the water and follow the river that is inside the cave. Such an amazing experience. Please keep in mind that you cannot take your cellphone for safety reasons. They also sell the pictures. They are a little pricey, but worth it in my opinion.

This was my daughters favorite excursion of the whole cruise! What a unique experience to explore these magnificent caves. We booked our excursion through Carnival, and everything was incredibly organized and easy! We took a tender to the main land (about 45 minutes and a fun ride). They served drinks and snacks for a price on the boat. If you get seasick, be prepared ahead of time, the water can be a bit choppy. We personally enjoyed it :) Jerico then escorted us to our bus...he was super friendly and fun, excellent customer service. The bus ride was only about 15 minutes, and it was super plush with soft seats and air conditioned and cool! To get to the location, you drive through this amazing thick jungle with butterflies everywhere. The ride is a bit bumpy, but again the seats are super plush, so it was fun. (Our mountain roads are much more washboardy and bumpy, so we didn't mind it at all). Once you arrive they suit you up with wetsuits, a helmet and water shoes. Everything was clean and neat. Our guide, Luis, was incredibly knowledgeable about Mayan culture and the flora and fauna surrounding us. We hiked in a short way to get to the cave and stopped along the way several times to talk about the jungle. Super fascinating! Then we were blessed by a Mayan Shaman before entering the cave, for a safe passage. (This was one of my daughter and I's favorite parts). The caves were so magical and amazing! It was really hot that day, so it was nice to be in the cave. The water was refreshing and at one point where the water was totally deep we all shut off our lights and floated in total darkness...WOW! You are in the caves for a total of 1 1/2 hours, but it goes by so quickly. There are four different cave circuits, we did the Supreme circuit. So if you go a second time, you may get a different tour....but each tour is unique in its own way. At the end of the tour they drive you to the entrance to get some food. The food was INCREDIBLE!!!! SOOOO GOOD!!! They had fresh made corn tortillas, a cactus vegetable that was super tasty, rice, beans, bbq pork or bbq chicken, and two types of pasta dishes. The food is part of the tour, but you can purchase beers and soda to enjoy along with the meal. We were offered a complimentary shot of Xtabentun to toast our cave adventure with Luis. Definitely worth a try and I am wishing I had purchased a bottle while I was there. There was a tiny gift shop, and there were computers for you to view the photos and decide if you wanted to purchase any. I always expect the cost to be a bit pricey, so I'm not shocked when they tell you how much ($99.00)....besides, its totally worth it! If you are on the fence about this excursion, I highly recommend it! If you are worried you might not be able to keep up, I will say that Luis was incredibly patient and kind and illuminated/shared every bump and rock outcropping to keep you from hurting yourself. It really wasn't bad at all, and our small group helped one another when needed. Excellent customer service all around and a truly magnificent trip! Thank you for the memories of a lifetime :)

Rio Secreto provides a mesmerizing underground adventure, unveiling the hidden wonders of nature with captivating limestone formations and crystal-clear waters. The guided tour offers a unique and awe-inspiring experience. However, it's important to note that there's room for improvement in the cleanliness of tools, wetsuits, helmets, and the public restrooms in the reception area. A more meticulous approach to cleanliness would undoubtedly enhance the overall visitor experience.

Awesome place and must do 🇲🇽 We get inside with guide that explain us a lot about the creation of the cave and more and it was just really nice. At some point he told us to float inside the water and close our eyes, and then he just close all the flash lights so it will be pitch black. This was one of my best experiences ever and I highly recommend!!!! 🔥 You should definitely add this place to your list 👍 The only thing that bothered me is that they didn't let us go inside with our own cameras and the photos that the photographer took cost 100 dollars. Moreover, when I downloaded all the photos it was completely mess because they are striped of metadata so there is no timestamp in them 😔.

Not really what we were expecting, but we absolutely loved it! Was so much fun and great memories. After we went through the cave we had a lunch at the resort and they had hammocks that my husband enjoyed a little too much! 🤣

We ended up kind of accidentally getting the plus version of the tour and it was an excellent mistake. It added an extra two caves to explore, one of which you rappel down into after a brief bike ride through the forest to the rappel hookup! The experience was breathtaking and the underground river running through the cave is pristine and we would easily do this again!

Cannot recommend this place more. We did the Rio Secreto Plus tour booked via the website. Our tour guide was Daniele. He was so knowledgeable, we learned a lot. He took the time to get to know us. The tour itself was incredible. We loved it. My favourite excursion of our trip.

We had the best time with Rio Secreto WILD! Mowgli took us on an all day very physically demanding adventure! He kept us laughing all day. Biking though the jungle was fantastic & the cave system was amazing! We loved feeling like the only ones there. (Not many are up for the biggest tour they offer) we loved it all! The buffet was yummy!

Excellent place to visit while you visit the Mayan Riviera! The tour takes about 3 hours and they take you deep inside caves/cenotes for a wonderful experience enjoying crystal clear water and cave formations. Water temperature is low but you will get used to it in minutes. They will lend you beach shoes but I recommend you to take your own. They serve food at the end included in your pay rate. Price wise is very good!! The trail is very rocky and uneven so keep in mind you have to be careful. I hope you enjoy it just as much as we did!!

This was truly an amazing experience. My husband and I booked this through our cruise line while we were docked in Cozumel. Our guide, Inna, was friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating to everyone in our group. They supply all of your gear, help you feel safe during the entire experience, and take great photos throughout the trip (available for purchase after the tour is over). They have lockers for your belongings, clean restrooms and changing/shower stalls. I would definitely do this again!

I love this place. A MUST see if you can. My favorite Virgin Voyage shore excursion. Our guide Mely and our photographer made the Maya experience very memorable for my family. The photos are worth every penny and 100% better than any photos a tourist would take.

Exploring Rio Secreto was hands down the highlight of our one week vacation. We love caves and we love being in the water, what a fantastic way to combine the two. The cave was impressive, with a variety of spectacular formations. We went swimming in a cave. Miguel was a wonderful guide, sharing information about the cave, engaging the group, and giving us information about the terrain. We were there with a group of 9 people, and we were with 6 others on the cave tour, I think all 9 of us would agree that this was one of our best experiences of the whole trip. My 7 year old son had a great experience and he enjoyed it a lot.

Great experience. Little disappointed with the photographer. Several of our personal shots were out of focus. They fill the void of photos by providing edited shots from 2010 & 2013. I still recommend it just think the photos should be priced better based on the quality or they should allow you to take your own damn photos.

Such a beautiful natural reservoir. Rank in the top 10 from NatGeo. They have different routes to take and even if you take the simplest pack you will get a wonderful experience. Their safety measures are perfect, they give you a neoprene swimsuit, helmet and if you need it a stick to help you walk. The underground river and caves are wonderful and beautiful! Take advantage of their package and take as much photos as you want. You won't regret it. You won't be able to take your camera / phone with you to take photos!!

Gracias, Victor and Patrick! This was an amazing tour! Victor guided us through the grounds and caves while telling us about Mayan history (even meeting descendants of the original inhabitants of the area). Also want to say thank you to our photographer Patrick! He took great photos and was also knowledgeable of the cave and even showed us a spot where a baby bat was resting. Highly recommend!

Highly recommend this underground river tour. It was really so interesting and so beautiful our guide Ari was really knowledgeable and we had a lot of fun with him. I didn’t feel scared and we were safe the whole time. I wasn’t really impressed with the lunch they served, but that’s really not why we went on this excursion. It was for the beauty of these underground rivers in Mexico i highly recommend this tour!! You could not bring your camera underground with you so of course so there’s no pictures of that in my review but at the end you could buy a package for $100 or each individual picture for 25 The package is pictures of you that she takes, and all the other pictures that she took down there so when you’re underground with your group and you see the photographer. maybe say “oh take a picture of this over here” because it’s all in the package but if there’s things you see that you want her to take a picture of I would recommend asking her “can you please take a picture of this for me?” but I wouldn’t spend too much time on that but if I’d known I would’ve had her take a picture of a couple really cool things that we saw. We saw a tiny bat hanging and it would have been great to get that pic! Yes, the price is expensive for the package but it’s a once in a lifetime memory and you’ll have no record of it. If you don’t get something … so you could get one picture or you can get the whole package which is what we decided to do.

The most epic adventure! Bonito was our tour guide, and I tell you, AWESOME!!!! He educated us throughout the entire activity, and made sure everyone was comfortable with what we were doing, encouraged us as needed. Such a great day!

A truly unbelievable experience!! The Mayan Underground is a wonderful adventure that I'm so glad I signed up for. We had their best guide, Fanny, who is not only super fun, she's knowledgeable in all areas of the tour and answered all of my questions. Thank you, Fanny, for the best day of our whole trip!

Awesome, but stay away from buying the pictures! Almost everything was outstanding! We loved the whole tour, our guide was amazing and very knowledgeable. Both places, Rio Secreto and Tulum are totally worth to be seen, offering breathtaking views. Rio Secreto gives you the chance to do something unique and very different from other caves. It is family friendly, our 8 years old loved it! Don't be afraid to bring your kids there. Tulum offers amazing scenic views, a very wonderful place where to take some cool selfies :) - or family pictures. Only downside, and strongly recommended, is NOT to pay the pictures from the photographer at Rio Secreto. Most of the pictures were blurry and unfortunately there is no a real good way to see well those before you paid for them. But other than that I strongly recommend the package Rio Secreto + Tulum, especially if the weather is a bit cloudy and chilly.

Our family had a great experience at Rio Secreto. It was our first time and it was worth every penny! Memo was a wonderful tour guide and the interactive experience was excellent! The photographer was great, he engaged us constantly throughout the tour memorializing our time there! We have so many beautiful photos to help us remember this fantastic day!! Would definitely recommend this if you are in Cancun!

  • 5/5 Ghislaine W. 2 years ago on Google
Super fun and very unique experience. Our 8 year old was nervous especially when the water got deep but our guide let him hold onto his back. The guide Fernando was knowledgeable and made the experience a lot of fun. Good energy! There was a buffet afterwards with options for everyone. (We appreciated there were vegetarian options!) I had read reviews that the road was a bit like a roller coaster and gave the kids gravol in anticipation. Was glad I did. It was a day we will always remember and was 100% worth it! So glad our family booked and got to experience this!

If you visit this region, you have to go to this place. It is a great experience. Our guide Ari was fantastic and the tour and our group of ten people have a great time. We did the Plus Tour and enjoy every bit of it. Unfortunately at the end we have a great disappointment with the photo service. It is really a scam. The prices they want to charge for each picture is outrageous. The worst if that they know because many people complain and they do not take any action to fix it.

  • 5/5 Jesus B. 4 months ago on Google
Such an amazing experience, not only you do some activities, you learn a lot about the environment, nature and yourself. We had the best guide, Imelda took the time with our family as we have a senior person who couldn't keep up the pace and between her and the assigned photographer/guide Hector took the time for everyone to enjoy the activities. I will definitely recommend it, is not extreme and all family can enjoy it.

  • 5/5 Rima S. 2 years ago on Google
Such an amazing experience! Loved every minute of it. Our tour guide Luis was just phenomenal. He made the entire journey even more fun if that's possible. Don't worry if you can swim, if you're comfortable enough in a pool to doggy paddle you'll be fine. They will assist you in the deep areas if any. I recommend this to anyone. It's worth the time and money.

my tour guide was literally fantastic , i can’t remember her name because this was last week but she was so smart and knew the awensers to every question i asked , i did the wild tour and i definitely reccomend if you love caves! i learned so much . swimming and looking into the caves was so surreal and amazing! and cycling in the cave as a passionate cyclist was also so amazing ! i went on the wild tour on may 22nd in the morning so if any owners see this , the woman doing the wild tour deserves a raise ! she was fantastic only reason for 4 stars is because the photos were really expensive and i couldn’t really afford the tour in general but i booked it because caves are a passion of mine . 6 people in my group if everybody is paying that much for some simple photos their making 300-600 usd alone off simple pictures . the tour alone was like 200$ . this is a natural wonder it shouldn’t cost so much . i know many tourists here have a lot of money but some of us just wish to explore the beauties of mexico and have saved for quite some time to be able to do so <3

Nice tour to visit. Only bad thing experienced was a delay start. Except it was good. Guide was knowledgeable and took care of us throughout the guided tour.

A very active tour! I enjoyed the bike ride and mini-rapell experience. The cave was awesome, but a bit dangerous. Be prepared to do a bit of swimming. Walking through the thigh- to waist-high waters in a dark cave hid many, many sharp and dangerous rocks below. I stubbed a toe or two and got a small scratch, but it was worth it. We had a difficult family situation on our tour but the guide, Jorge, handled the kids like he was a child-whisperer. It helped greatly because I didn't pay money to hear screaming and complaining children. Very enjoyable experience. Parents, leave the kids at home.

  • 5/5 Surge 1 year ago on Google
This place is absolutely beautiful and you can't beat the experience. Even the kids enjoyed it. Tour that was assigned to us was knowledgeable and made the experience very enjoyable. Our experience was arriving on our own, we bought tickets on site and went with regular entrance. It wasn't bad in October on a weekday. You wait for a group to build a little bit and then you go with your group to the actual site, cavern. It's about a 10 minute drive, you the change into your gear, walk to the entrance and enjoy. You do get safety briefings. Excellent and beautiful family experience.

I would share photos from inside But I wasn’t able to bring my phone! It is one of the most amazing experiences. I would recommend asking for the yellow rope tour over the purple. Purple was fine. Yellow - one of my top 10 things I have done in my life. Planning on going back again next time I am there. The food is good, transportation was good Staff speaks multiple languages.

Amazing experience. Everyone was so accommodating from beginning to end. Very informative tour guide. It really made us feel like we were a part of history. It is a strenuous excursion but we did have a person that was unsure of the passages and the tour guide helped her every step of the way. Very much worth the money for excursion. I did feel like the photos were expensive and should have a chance to get all the pics for a better price. Was only able to buy one pic as there were expensive in my opinion and then only sent through email. All in all a great excursion. Live A Great Story!

Photos and words do not adequately describe the beauty of the location or the experience of swimming through an underground cave. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity and something that I highly recommend if able. The venue provides everything that is needed (helmet with light, life vest, water shoes, walking stick, and wet suit). Everything but the wetsuit/walking stick is required, though participants are allowed to use their own closed toed water shoes if they prefer. Lockers with locks are provided for participants to store their items. Nothing is permitted in the cave including electronics (phones and cameras). My impression is that while this likely increases photography sales from the venue, it is actually for the safety and enjoyment of the participants. Traversing the caves is slow and difficult enough as it is without participants trying to hold something, much less take photographs. The tour guide (Imelda) was outstanding both in navigating our group and providing explanations throughout the tour. She has a deep knowledge of the local culture, the cave itself, and the animals that live in it. Note: It is physically demanding, there is a 5-10 minute walk from the lockers to the cave opening, and then the cave itself. It requires stairs, swimming, and careful balance. You will appreciate the walking stick they provide for balance. This tour is fine if you are in good health, however if you cannot swim or have difficulty with stairs / extended walking - I recommend skipping.

The BEST excursion! Beautiful scenery, amazing cavern and river. Our guide, Daniella, made it even better with all of his information about the rainforest. Will definitely go again!

Noone said anything about extreme physical torment. Not the brochure, not the sales girl, noone. Like hiking knee deep in water no light stumbling there is absolutely no paved path. You walk about a mile through jungle extremely rocking path. Then you trudge through incredibly rocky and uneven cave bed it was not what. The only good thing was our guide was very helpful if you do this it's a grind. Not pleasure. Maybe interesting

This cave and the river that runs through it is an absolutely amazing adventure to visit. The tour guides are very knowledgable and friendly. They took us on a small group tour, 10 people with a guide, they provide all the necessary equipments such as wet suit, water shoes... they take pictures in the cave and then they serve lunch after the tour. I have to say that the pictures were very expensive. They did not offer a digital version of the pictures and asked for $100 for a package of about 10 pictures. I don't even know what to do with paper picture anymore, so I did not buy the pictures. But the tour totally worth it.

This is well worth it. They do provide a shorty wet suit and water shoes and helmet. Water is chilly but very manageable. Not recommended for kids under 7 years old. Buy the digital photo thumb drive as the pics are well done.
