Very informative museum and pretty grounds. The experience put faces to the post Civil War lives of military personnel. What a great way to preserve history.

Beautiful, nicely kept up grounds, lovely tribute to the fallen heroes. The museum was small in size, but had so much information it takes awhile to get through it! Many neat pieces of history in it. We enjoyed exploring! We’re not able to go inside the church or barracks, but outside was lovely. We detoured off the hwy on our road trip and so very glad we did!

We were up in Birmingham for an annual checkup. After that we had nothing on schedule so we looked up some state parks on our route back and came up on the Confederate Memorial Park: 437Road 63, Maubury, Alabama 36051. This is a large, well-maintained park supported by the Alabama Historical Commission. The park is beautifully wooded. It has a moderatly sized museum full of civil war era artifacts. Calvin Chappelle is the site director. He is knowledgeable and congenial. He knows his stuff and can answer any and all questions about the war. This particular location was where the Confederate Soldiers Home was located. There are several locations on site that are worth seeing that you can drive to. There are 2 cemeteries, a picnic area and several buildings that are original to the site. Bring you camera. Take pictures.

Beautiful nature trails, full of wildlife. The museum and grounds, are full of rich, Southern history. You have many opportunities throughout the year, to visit while Civil War reanactors, display period correct, living history demonstrations. We are very blessed to have this park available.

The museum has some really nice items to be seen. I highly recommend visiting if you're in the area. Also, the entire park is clean and well maintained. The graveyards are well kept and rightly so for, the men and women resting there deserve the respect they earned fighting for the Confederacy.

Beautiful place, with 2 pavilions and an old church you can rent for events. Even if your not a history buff, definitely a nice place for picnics, weddings etc. Restrooms are clean and the whole place is well kept. Staff is friendly and well informed.

kept up very nice for state park. almost on level of a federal cemetary. tree markers need to be replaced and benches need to be replaced with painted iron benches. wood even treated wood ages so dirty you dont want to sit down on them. also need more benches on some of the trails for old farts like me. LOL
