I explored this place and took photos for my photography class. Even though it was cold and snowy it was still a nice and relaxing place to visit. I took many photos and played with my canon EOS 50D camera.

Always enjoy going here when I'm looking to take a nice hike or even just have a good spot to relax a while. Usually quite quiet, lots of contrast between open area and wooded areas, generally quite clean and kept.

Every summer my boyfriend and I try to visit as many forest preserves as we can just so we can stay active and not be bored out of our minds. While he was at work he stumbles upon this forest preserve... He excitedly called me to let me know he had found a new spot. A few days later, we packed up my bike and his one-wheel and headed to the new trail. It was amazing. Highly recommend this forest preserve for a quick stroll. 🤘🏻🚴🏼🏃🏽🚶🏽

Nice crushed gravel paths. Not much wildlife activity. Some very nice views along the way.

Nice park. Clean. Could have had a better park for the kids to play at in the back. Steel slides would burn skin on a hot day. But was a nice place for just a picnic or small party.

It looks like they've cleaned out a whole bunch of the underbrush that used to be there. You can see more of the fields and spaces between trees. It feels very open

Grant forest preserve consists of mostly a circular 2 mile trail around a wetland. Trail seems to be a well maintained blend of dirt, sand, and small stones. Easy for walking and jogging. There are branching paths that take you near neighborhoods and through the woods. 3 parking lots, a bridge, picnic areas, 4 bathrooms between 2 locations. There is the occasional animal sighting like birds, frogs, and a small coyote if you're lucky. Lots of people bring dogs and or strollers to walk around the trail. Very peaceful place, a few benches on the trail. Slight inclines and declines.

  • 5/5 Jeremy D. 8 months ago on Google
5+ miles of trails if you do both the north and south loops, which do connect. Some parts of the trail is shaded, but a good amount is not.

  • 5/5 Dylan C. 6 months ago on Google
Clean, lots of trails. Trash cans and restrooms along the trails. Parking was easy. Fairly flat, easy to do.

There are two large ponds on either side of a wooden bridge. A narrow channel divides them. There also is an adjacent grove of trees cluttered with picnic tables. You can sit in the grove and watch for waterfowl on both ponds. Very peaceful...

    One of my favorite places

Grant Woods is great place to enjoy the great outdoors. There are two main circular walking trails separated by Monaville Road. There is an underpass so you go from one trail to another without crossing the road. The trails are finely crushed gravel so it can be messy after a heavy rain. Both loops take about 45 minutes to an hour to walk. The northern loop is hillier so it's more of a workout. There are plenty of benches along the trails in case you need a break. The parking areas have no frills restrooms (better than a porta-potty but not by much).

This is a great forest preserve. Fantastic trees! The trail will take you to Long Lake. We rode the Chain O' Lakes trail through Ingleside to downtown Fox Lake and back, about 6.5 miles. Lots of exploring opportunities and again, terrific trees!
