Such a beautiful place! In their review, someone mentioned they could not find the boardwalk or the bog and therefore have a one- star review (πŸ˜’). You literally cannot miss it if you just follow the trail and don't take any of the side trails. Go up and down the hills, then continue to follow the trail as it narrows and goes down a final hill to the boardwalk. There are so many big, beautiful bunches of pitcher plants, some tiny sundews (if you look close enough), tons of sphagnum moss, and tamarack trees that make you think you're in the mountains! If you're there in fall the puffs on the cottongrass make you feel like you're making your way through some magical place. We saw plenty of wildlife - deer, birds galore, two types of water snakes, one BIG common water snake in the brush and one tiny snake in the water, frogs, insects.... such a fun place! Just please, please PLEASE remember to leave no trace. Be careful not to track the seeds of invasive species in on your boots, if you bring a snack in, take everything out with you, if you see someone left their trash be a good steward of our earth and pick it up for them. Most of all enjoy this beautiful place!

It was nice to feel like you were up north for a moment but only 30 minutes from Milwaukee. To access the bog, keep walking straight back until there’s a hill with some wooden steps built in to descent. Boardwalk is fun to walk on!

Since it hasn't been touched by human development, you're stepping into an ecosystem that has existed as long as the earth has. Very gorgeous plants and trees, and the boardwalk is wonderful. I went on an overcast/rainy day in October and the colors really popped.

Pitcher plants live in wet, acidic, nutrient-poor environments.Β They survive by luring and trapping insects that become their source for nitrogen.Β Nine of the ten pitcher plant species found in the United States grow in the south. OnlyΒ Sarracenia purpurea, the northern pitcher plant, thrives on sphagnum moss mats of northern bogs such as this one.

Especially in fall, this is a very unique little hiking area. Unique, beautiful, often deeply quiet. Not great for kids and very not ADA, there's no railing or anything on the walks and the hills are sometimes pretty steep.

The boardwalk in the bog is well worth the hilly hike to get there. Very cool wildlife/ some very interesting flowers you don't typically see. I suggest wearing a hat, there is alot of bugs in some spots. Really wish there was a map of the trails. Still curious where some of them go/how long

Beautiful hidden gem πŸ’Ž In spring, the bog is inaccessible.

We couldn't find the trail, the bog, or a place to park other than for boat launchers. Gave up after searching for 15 minutes, using Google map to guide us.

Very pretty natural area with lots of shade and hills. The main path(about .5 miles) leads straight to a thinning downhill path where the boardwalk is. Lots of oak trees in the hilly part and tamarack throughout the bog.

πŸ‘ Beware the cross stitching grannies. I’d recommend bringing a chair and sitting near the playground away from the covered picnic tables. I sat on the bench just close enough to hear a group of cross stitching women complaining about my kids (2&4) yelling and playing too loudly for their liking. When...
