Good place for relaxation and getting out of the busy daily life. A nice combination of spa facilities, restaurants, kids playgrounds, zoo and horse riding and other things. However, there are things that almost ruin the experience given the price - rooms are not that clean, parking is a nightmare, food is just OK and parts of the spa needs additional payment (which in itself is ridiculous given other competitors offer these facilities as part of the full package). The wine tour is nothing special, aside from the tasting which is very good! Restaurants are big and there’s always space for eating, but for selection is extremely regular compared to other places of this rank. It’s a good place but not fully worth the cost.

The complex is nice, but the price-quality ratio is not matching. We were staying in the Thracian residence which is visibly the newer part of the complex. The SPA service is really nice, but for almost every different experience than pool, sauna and steam bath you need to pay extra. The dinner main courses were definitely not good and the sitting outside was ruined by mosquito invasion. The room was very spacious and comfortable and for a studio you get a jacuzzi in the balcony which was very clean and good.

Me and my husband are staying here for the second time, as we we’re definitely so impressed the first time. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same for this time. There were almost 0 amenities you are provided with in the rooms- no shower cap, no nail file, no propper hair care body&hair wash only and no slippers for the rooms. Everything comes at extra cost- towels, bathrobes and even slippers for the rooms… The restaurant is only average- food is nothing special, not tasty either. It is almost exclusively heavy cheesy and meat food with very little variety. And the staff… wont even mention how unwanted we felt by some of the waiters. Some were ok and smiling but others not at all. So inconsistent. Reception closes at 6 pm 🤯 People seemed to have noticed the drop of quality overall as the resort was packed last time, but this time there hardly even 10 tables in the restaurant occupied. The reason I am giving 3 stars still: Rooms- specious and big Cleanliness- not bad Spa- very well made and pleasant amenities overall

Beautiful place very nicely decorated in traditional bulgarian style. The quality of the food and wine was good, but the prices were extraordinarily high even for the most common dishes (like a tiny dish with 3 sauces for 9lv). The workers were quite slow (despite not having many people eating) and a bit clumsy, but if you go without hurry you can still enjoy the atmosphere.Just be sure to go with the wallet full.

Awesome place, ambience, good food and fantastic wine. Rooms are spacious on the ground floor. Not sure about upstairs. The walls are thin so prepare to hear the loud snorers. Two type of pool, indoor span luxury mineral water or outside, which the kids love.

It really has the potential of being a 5 star place and it sucks that I had to take away a star because of easily fixable short comings. Starosel Restaurant - I cannot express how impressed we were with the service our waitress Tania provided! (I think Tatiana is her real name) She was attentive, knowledgable about the wine and food and always greeted us with a smile. She made our restaurant experience extremely pleasant. I give the restaurant 5 stars as it was the best part of the hotel and the staff were always on point. Starosel Hotel - The rooms are spacious and clean. The AC in the rooms (and neighboring rooms, as I asked some of the people next to our room) was not working, so we had to resort sleeping with the door open. Additionally, there are no safe in the room to put our valuables. Check-in was in the other hotel and the room numbering is counterintuitive. I give the hotel 3 stars. Starosel Spa - We had a great experience with the masseuse, Ilia. I would definitely recommend getting a massage from him. The lady at the spa reception was good as well. Overall the staff at the spa is pleasant and helpful. However, they did not have towels stocked and I had to walk all wet to my room to get a towel. I give the spa 4 stars, taking away a start for the lack of towels around the pool/spa. We will definitely come back since we were not able to stay there for a longer period.

The restaurant offers delicious and well executed Bulgarian cusine and grill. Everything we ordered was fresh and tasty. The waiters are friendly and take into consideration your request. We would definitely visit Starosel again if we are in the area.

I am giving 3 starts only because of the restaurant- very delicious food, great variety of choice and the staff was amazing. The rest of my experience is not so great, though. My friend & I went for a lovely girls SPA weekend, but sadly it wasn't that exciting as I thought it would be. At first we booked a standard room, which turned out to be on the 2nd floor. That's fine except for the fact our view was literally towards the roof. Given the fact how dirty our balcony was, I think nobody expected us to use it. We decided to go to reception and ask for another room or at least for someone to properly clean this one. We were offered a jacuzzi studio. I must say that the lady at the front-desk doesn't really know the hotel well. She assured us that the only available studio is looking towards the inner yard. Well, for our positive surprise the balcony revealed magical view of the mountains. However, why a 410BGN-studio wouldn't even offer simple things such as vanity kit, or clean jacuzzi, or even complimentary coffee without sugar. No offence to the sugar lovers, but I prefer my coffee without sugar. I called on reception and sadly they couldn't offer instant coffee without sugar- only 3 in 1. Ok, I decided to compromise and drink that so-called coffee, but how do you stir it without any supplies? I called and they brought plastic stirrers... Why, Starosel, you refuse to be eco friendly and instead of this plastic just don't put regular spoons in the 410BGN-per-night rooms? What about the SPA? Honestly, I like the old part better (in terms of interior). And I thought a SPA hotel would offer to their guests some water dispensers here & there. No- you have to buy water for 5 lv. Towels are also paid- 1 lv per towel. If your room towel is too wet to use it- you pay. And I am very very disappointed with the attitude of the lady on the SPA bar (same goes for SPA center). When I decided to have some lunch, I simply asked her which meal will take less time to get prepared. Instead of an answer all I received was rolling eyes... Unbelievable. And to finish this weekend properly I had to drive back home with wet hair, because the 410BGN room's hairdryer "takes a break" every 5 mins of usage. You wait 10 minutes and it is back at work. So, to summarize, I drove to Starosel, spent almost 1000 BGN there only to have a nice meal. I think next time I will spend this 1000 BGN somewhere else, where the experience can be more exciting.

We had a wonderful time staying in the hotel, which was clean and had friendly staff. I particularly liked how much effort was made in creating the Bulgarian Revival atmosphere, how well-maintained the gardens were, and of course, the free-roaming peacocks :)
