We were around 10 times over the years in Pavaj for dinner. We were having good and very bad experience mostly with the waiting staff. We have also experienced sometimes bad behavior from the management. Couple of times over the years we invite friends from Germany for the horse meals, but they were not available. Today I am giving 5 stars finally. The waitress Inna made our dinner unforgettable with her professional and polite attitude. First time all meals from the menu were available. The ashtrays were changed very often, as well ice cubes with lemon slices every 30/40 min. It was well organized with, very very tasty food. Keep up the good vibe and do not forget that even the best food is not enough to keep the guests, if the waiting staff is ignorant and rude. Finally there are good employees, keep those 😉

Vary good restaurant with a lovely terrace located in Kapana. The place serve modern Bulgarian 🇧🇬 cuisine. It is reasonably priced it’s getting usually busy so to book it’s recommended. It’s amazing to sit outside and enjoy lunch or dinner. They have outdoor heaters to keep you warm. Everything we’ve ordered was super tasty. I recommend this place.

The food is quite nice, but not extraordinary. There are some vegetrain option. The place is very popular and they do their best to place everyone. The service is fast and good. The ambient is great.

The Kapana district is remarkable in itself with its variety of restaurants. The Pavaj restaurant is a gem. It offers a menu with modern Bulgarian cuisine, prepared at a high level of craftsmanship. We've eaten there three days in a row and have been delighted each time, both with the food and the service. Recommended: Pork ribs.

Amazing food and awesome services! Ivan was very patient with us and provided great recommendations. We ordered the following to share and enjoyed our meal - quail egg salad, horse sausages, grape leaves, and stuffed red peppers. We were surprised by the fact that the restaurant was cash only even though Google maps indicated credit cards.

I came here for lunch at around 130pm. The outdoor dining terrace was filled with people. A clear local favourite. Loved the service and atmosphere of the place. Having my lunch outside and watching passersby walking through the street was an interesting experience. The service was prompt and all requests were fulfilled. Good English as well so no language barriers. The food was tasty. I tried the tatak for the first time in my life and loved it. Will try to make some back home. It was creamy due to the yogurt base and the flavours from the garlic and aubergine were awesome. I also ordered fried red pepper stuffed with cheese. It was so cheesy and the tomatoes were fresh and sweet. The sauce was good but I suspected I shouldn't have ordered a yogurt dish for my appetizer as it seemed too much yogurt for me towards the end. Anyway it is not their fault. Highly recommended when you drop by in Plovdiv. Prices are reasonable as well

Ordered veal cheeks and chicken livers and both were incredible!!! Very flavorful and tasty and it was the best meal I had in Bulgaria! Service was really good too despite them being very busy. Very surprised that they don't have better reviews and it seems that a lot of bad reviews were due to their cash only policy - first of all that's quite unfair cuz they're not the only place in Bulgaria that doesn't take cards, second they do take cards now so they really deserve better

Well, the place is overestimated and definitely overpriced. To meet my expectations and stack up with price range they MUST upgrade the service: 1. Guest shows up earlier? Offer him a drink while he waits for his table be prepared. Especially when there are plenty of spots available. 2. Our orders were missed and mixed with table next to us 🤦‍♂️ so we had to wait a lot of extra time to get our orders, plus we got main course served earlier than our salads. Nonsense 3. We got digestive and dessert as a compliment for their mistakes. Thank you. But still. Food is good. Service is average. Overall doesn’t meet my expectations.

Okay place but doesn't match the hype. 🫴 Beets Tarator - thick, okay taste, the salted walnuts were delicious, but otherwise meh. 👍 Chestnut Starter - tasty, the sourdough bread was really excellent! ❤️ Pork Ribs - really delicious and tender! 👍 Baklava Cheesecake - delicious. 👎 Slow service, the staff were quite busy. ❌💳 No card payments.

Probably the best restaurant in Plovdiv. I love salads and there was a lot of choice. The main dishes were very meat heavy, but there was lots of other dishes on the menu for vegetarians. The strawberry lemonade was so fresh. The desserts were amazing! I’ve never had violet ice cream before and with chocolate was perfect. The carrot cake with raspberries was light but decadent. Definitely eat here if you’re in Plovdiv!

Delicious food and great service at the heart of the district. Hard to find seats so you might need to wait or call to reserve. Highly recommend the meatballs and stuffed peppers and zucchini balls. :)

Visited the place for lunch on a super hot day. They have these tiny sprinkles with water steam to cool you off but most importantly a real cool choice of cold soups. We had the tomato gazpacho and a broccoli- spinach one. Additionally we ordered the katuk spread, halumni cheese with special jam, super fresh summer salad with tomatoes, peppers and aubergine and the classic homemade meatballs. Definitely recommend.

I have to say this place is famous for a reason. I recommend having a salad of any kind. The products are so fresh, it's like they're from another season. The other things they offer are also very tasty and served with grace and detail. The only negative is the small amount of availability for sitting, but that actually makes it better and more cozy, which is exactly what atmosphere you can expect from Kapana.

Pavaj is one of the hottest restaurants in Plovdiv, offering a huge menu of creative plates. It was hard to know how to pick, but we started with the Pink Tarator, a cold pink soup made of yogurt, beets, cucumbers, dill, and walnuts. Next, the Aubergine Salad was constructed on a base of a creamy eggplant garlic purée topped with strings of pulled cow cheese and surrounded by rounds of fried eggplant alternating with fresh tomato wedges. This was probably my favorite dish, as the tomatoes were juicy and flavorful, the cheese had an interesting chewy texture, and the eggplant dip was creamy and unctuous. We also got an order of their homemade bread, which was sadly nothing but a crusty white bread roll drenched in butter and toasted with spices. Finally, for our main dish, we had the Horse Sausage, a sliced sausage made with horsemeat, fried and served in a skillet with a tomato onion sauce. The horse sausage had a lean texture and meaty flavor but was overpowered by the flavor of the tomato sauce. While the dishes here were certainly creative and nicely presented, the average flavors and portion sizes weren’t worth the price or hype.

Modernes Lokal mit traditionellen Gerichten - neu interpretiert. Draußen sitzt man sehr gemütlich. Wasserzerstäubungsanlagen auf den Sonnenschirmen machen das Sitzen bei hohen Temperaturen im Sommer angenehmer. Das Bier ist vom Fass. Der Service war sehr freundlich und aufmerksam.

Restaurant serving Modern Bulgarian food. The Baclava Cheesecake and the fried, stuffed cheese dishes were the favourites. Staff were attentive and friendly. Restaurant items were qbove average but fairly priced for Bulgaria and worth it.

The place is always super busy, and the fact that my friends and I managed to have dinner there without a reservation is surprising. The food and service were excellent. Will definitely visit again.

Great food - Bulgarian modern twist (with a bit of humor added to the dishes). Always a go-to place when in Plovdiv! Make sure to reserve a table in advance though. Vegetarian friendly.

Pavaj is always great, the food is wonderful and you really can't go wrong with any of their salads. If you are somehow able to save a little space for dessert, they have really tasty ice creams and homemade treats too. It's usually quite popular so you might want to reserve a table in advance.

We like it, one of the most popular places in Plovdiv. But only 7-8 main meals and 3 of them with horse. If you don't like it - poor choice from my perspective.

This place is worth every nice review! First of all great selection of raki and wines! Then to pair amazing starters! Can recommend the cheese platter and aubergine dip! For main course I had the best meatballs I ever had! So juicy and well seasoned! After all this amazing meal had to order dessert and of course it was amazing too! Had the baklava cheesecake which is as good as it sounds! Also service was great and friendly!

Don’t believe the hype! Very weak in my opinion, Hummus was really bad!. Chicken had a bottle of sauce and extra to go 🤷🏽‍♂️👎🏽

Probably my favorite place in the Kapana area in Plovdiv. It is really lovely to sit outside on a warm day and enjoy the innovative and delicious cuisine. The Baklava cheesecake is just sublime!

We very much enjoyed the atmosphere of the restaurant in Kapana area, Plovdiv. It is centrally located, the place is well decorated, welcoming and cozy. The food is tasty and well served. The service was good too. A suggestion for improvement is to find more vegetarian options on the menu.

Good experience! We arrive close to the closing time but the waiter was very friendly and let us dine in anyways without problem. He also spoke Spanish with us and recommend us some dishes, which was great! Everything we order was well presented and very tasty. Definitely a good place to go in Plovdiv to try some Bulgarian traditional dishes with a twist!

I tried to book this place but there was no option to reserve so I had to wait ~25min for a table. Beside that I really liked the appetizers we ordered (fried potatoes with white cheese and salad). For main dish I really recommend the stuffed peppers, I LOVED them. The atmosphere is cozy and services was good.

My family (4 adults 2 children) and I had a wonderful meal on 31/7/2023. The menu is creative and the food was delicious. A truly great balance of the traditional and the new. A wonderful spot in Kapana district of Plovdiv with great service provided in a relaxed outdoor setting. Would highly recommend for a special occasion or just a casual lunch.

Pavaj was absolutely AMAZING! Highly recommend for great food and great atmosphere. The waitress who helped us spoke perfect English, and they had an English menu, too! The strawberry lemonade was the best lemonade I have ever had, hands down. Same can be said for the pork schnitzel, it was even better than pork schnitzel I had in Germany! It was perfectly fried, and if it was really good plain, it was divine with the sauce. The goat cheese salad was pretty good, very fresh and delicious with the strawberries and blueberries. I preferred the dressing on the salad that came with my schnitzel, but that could be personal preference. They had three floors of seating, as well as tables outside with fire pits for colder weather. They ask you to pay on the first floor, and take either cash or card. All in all an excellent experience! Highly recommend!

One of the best restaurants in Bulgaria. By far. The atmosphere is lovely, the servers are very friendly and enthusiastic. We had what they recommended and it was very tasty. Original local Rakia cocktails and the specials of the day. Would recommend 10/10!!! Get the buttered bread and desert definitely. Very tasty food and lovely and helpful staff
