There are many historic roman ruins around the city of Plovdiv but it's amazing to think these date back to 7 AD. There is lots of information to look at. It may notook like much much the history behind these ruins is what makes Plovdiv one of the oldest cities in Europe. Go here in conjunction with the many other historic locations around the city.

It's free to see the stadium and visit the bottom area. You pay to visit the 3D movie screening of what it could have been like. You can only see part of the stadium similar to part of the theatre. It's amazing that part of it was preserved, as you can find parts of ruins all around Plovdiv.

Ruins of a great roman stadium which you can only imagine as the entire stadium is buried under the city center main street of Plovdiv. You can see one end of the stadium which is accessible by the stairs. There is no ticket here and the ruins are free to access.

Very nice and impressive place. How people did it 2200 years ago! Energy is very great and surrounded by great bars and restaurants.

Guarded by a friendly ginger cat. Could use more information, but looks nice in the evening with the lights on.

Beautiful, but it is kind if hidden i. The city center. I wish the ruins were better preserved and made more prominent.

It's really great that they uncovered the ruins, and maintained them. BUT it sucks that almost throughout the city almost all the ruins are closed to the public. You can only see them from afar. In regard to this ruin, it'ok, but not very spectacular from afar

I expected a little more from this. It was kind of small from what they uncovered but the whole stadium was huge. It was designated for 30000 people. Most of it is probably under the current buildings. There is more to do to make this place more interesting, more information boards would be great as well as well as a chance to go inside.

So bizarre that this is just sitting semi-hidden beneath a shopping mall. Would have been quite impressive in it's day, and is a very strange juxtoposition with the cafe's and fast fashion shops that are now just above it.

Deep in the center of Plovdiv, no one can miss the Ancient Roman Stadium. You get an impressive insight with the 3D-Show; even right under the nearby H&M shop you will find ancient remains. Follow the path of the past, it's worth it.

Great ruins to visit, cool cafe. Staff was very kind and helpful. 3D show was cheesy but very affordable.

A very nice place to visit. The place is between 2 hill tops. We got the combo of visiting 5 places @7 leva using the student discount. One of the places we visited was this amazing stadium.

Great place in the center of Plovdiv. Maybe integrating some cafeterias into it is not the best favor that can be done to a historic place like this, but it is still good that there is a well-preserved part in sight of tourists.

Great ancient theatre. Very preserved and in great condition. It's nice to see something that is 2000 years old and to imagine how people used to live. Defenetly a must if you visit Plovdiv.

A must see tourist attraction! Very well preserved. Don't miss the 3D presentation. With the ticket bought here you can visit the stadium remains that are located inside H&M store just down the street.

The history and the position of this historical place are really fascinating. Anyway the visit includes just 3d film of the sports inside the stadium and I am not fan of these kind of visits.

Like many Roman ruins, it seems like development around the city has progressed way ahead before it's discovery. The partial ruins of the stadium have been 'integrated' into the town and surroundings. It's free to explore with a low fee for the 3D re-imagine experience.

The partially restored remains of the ancient Roman stadium. For a small place it is an important site. The displayed remains are of the northern part of the stadium. İt was approximately 240 meters long and 50 meters wide and could seat up to 30 000 spectators. The seats are in 14 rows and made of solid marble blocks. İt was built in the beginning of the 2nd century during the reign Emperor Hadrian.

Ancient Roman stadium in the heart of on of the most beautiful cities in Bulgaria - Plovdiv. It smells on history, it gives some great emotions to see it and feel the atmosphere. One spot not to be missed. Very often there are some plays, events and festivals there.

Plovdiv in general is so beautiful but this place full of history is just a mandatory visit. I love it! ❤️
