A beautiful and newly-renovated monastery near Plovdiv. It is known as the residence of the Plovdiv archbishop. You will find two churches - the "lower" one is several centuries old and surrounded by high walls. The "upper" church is the new one and situated right next to the living quarters. The monastery gets busy on public holidays, especially when coupled with nice weather. If you decide to hike from the nearby village of Kuklen, keep in mind that the road is steep. Should you hungry and thirsty, there is a small bistro right across the road from the monastery.

Lovely monastery, really enjoyed my visit here. Very quiet.

There is a wonderful view of the Maritsa river valley. The church inside is from X century and has a good history. The part where sisters live is preserved after a fire in XIX century and renewed. The monastery is alive and has a beautiful garden with spring cold water taps. Near the monastery has a spring with healing water: ayazmo.

Beautiful monastery! Such a pleasant place to wonder around. The nature surrounding the monastery is beyond words; the mountains are within a view with flowers all around! The monetary is well maintained! Great place and energy!

Good place to visit for 1 hour. The road might be a bit tight for two cars to pass. Good places around for a barbecue.

A peaceful place and a beautiful nature spot. It's a female monastery and currently there are only 2 nuns living there but it's well maintained.

It was raining so we were not able to see much but from what we saw we will go again.

Not so easy to reach, but for those who truly believe and search, nothing is impossible. Beautiful and peaceful monastery well hidden in the nature. A place that is more than worth visiting and spending some time there.

Exhausted place with interesting energy 🔔for sure There is long history and spectacular things. It is on the top of hill that’s why whether is different than Kuklen and Plovdiv 🤷🏼‍♀️
