Unbelievably rude owner/manager who also happened to serve us! I don't think I've ever encountered such a badly behaved host. We went to this place with the hope for a nice breakfast on the terrace only to be shamelessly ripped off and embarrassed in front of our friends who we brought there. We were RIDICULOUSLY overcharged for the most basic breakfast you could imagine (think simple eggs, a few slices of tomato, cheese, coffee and fresh OJ) - 100BGN for 4 people. Totally insane for Bulgaria, even for a hotel. For comparison - the previous night we had dinner at a super nice restaurant, right on the main street, with starters, meat main courses, cocktails, tequila shots, what not - all for 180BGN for the 4 of us... We will never ever go there again and you'd better not either.

Very Scary Place! BEWARE!! My wife and I were walking around Old Plovdiv, and decided to stop for a cup of coffee, We entered the establishment and at first sight it was empty. We notice a elderly man by the name of Boris and a woman who was sitting behind a desk, at first everything was normal, and we ordered a 2 normal cups of coffee, after drinking the "Lavazza" Cups of coffee which was incredibly small, I used the restroom, after doing so we decided to pay and we were charge 10 leva total! 5 Leva for each cup of coffee. We asked why are the prices so high for coffee which is normally 80c, and all hell broke loose! I have never seen a person change from calm to crazy in 2 secs. Boris started insulting us, Through our money back at us, threatened to kick my wife in the head, He insulted me by saying my wife is my mistress, walked towards us with aggression, putting his hands on me as I stood in front of my wife to protect her from Boris and the woman or girl behind the desk look extremely terrified of Boris. This person is extremely abusive towards customers. Please be aware of this place and owner.

The owner of the hotel caused bodily harm to another man, a municipal security officer. Be careful with reservations

So that is quite good looking place, very nice interior and decoration. However personnel is absolutely not friendly and even rude. I went here after a long walk through the historic center of Plovdiv and was very surprised to find no reasoned contemptuous attitude of the staff to the customers. You do not need our money? Not a problem. Nearby are many places where customers are waiting with a smile and open arms. Do not advise anyone this restaurant if you do not want to spoil the mood.

No matter how badly I would rate this restaurant it would still not be bad enough. Horrible service, I have never seen such a rude and crazy server who, we found out, was the owner. Avoid at all cost, it is a very dangerous place, the owner almost hit me and my guest from Canada. I am ashamed of being a Bulgarian because of people like him .

If it would be possible to give negative 100 stars I would gladly do so. An appropriate sign at the front door of this spooky ๐ŸŽƒ place would be: "Be aware of the owner!!!" This old man and his wife cannot tolerate anyone else, but themselves. I personally saw him throwing out the door an Italian lady guest, because she was supposed to leave the place at 10 am, but she dared to overstay her holiday with 15 min. Overpriced, overrated, super-unfriendly, haunted "palace"!

I would of rated it half a star if it was possible .booked through booking .com .All the usual no charge till you visit the place .Then rude awaking from the owner it is a DUNGEON .quite literally.there are floors with rooms with no windows . corrections there are windows but you can't see a thing as it is UNDERGROUND.Feeling claustrophobic just thinking about it .So no ,no chance in hell I use bookings.com in Bulgaria again .The owner is a typical Bulgarian with some change in his pocket. Insulting really the way he treats his staff and his costumers .AVOID .

Owner or authorized person who is on front desk, totally arrogant. He affront me two times, because my car was parked front of the hotel as same as other cars on street. There is no any warn no any sign on the street that define the park forbidden. I came here because of business trip. However I am going to warn our agency who organize our hotels, in order to move this hotel from options that who is going to come next time.

There is no where to plug your charger in, unless you unplug the bedside light. No where to make tes or coffee in the room. Considering the price of the room there should be both.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Boris Palace Hotel. The room was nice with plenty of space (studio). Boris and his wife were friendly and helpful throughout my stay. It's a set breakfast with a nice variety, and plenty to keep you going for a while. The hotel is also in the best location, Old Town. Plenty to see here and easily walkable to other places of interest and shops and restaurants. The hotel also has a terrace with views over the city.

Excellent top level room with a fantastic view over Plovdiv, amazing staff that didn't hesitate to be up already on 3 o'clock when we left early (without asking). Best place to stay in the old town next to the artisan district with bars, restaurants and clubs. Highly recommended also for business stays!

Great location and clean accommodation. Everything else about the place will make sure you never come back. An extremely arrogant and rude owner called Boris will surely make you feel unwelcome in his palace. Boris was acting rude, yelling at guests for asking simple questions, taking away unfinished plates during breakfast from his guests and playing loud music from early morning to make sure everyone wakes up and leaves as early as possible. I have no idea how this man is functioning within the hospitality business, he clearly hates his job, cannot communicate properly in any foreign language, yet openly admits he does not want Bulgarians in his hotel.Their reservation system consists of a notebook and a pen, they donโ€™t issue any receipts, which makes you wonder what they use the computer do not even bother walking through the front door.

Great hotel in old town. Friendly owner and spotlessly clean.

Just donโ€™t go there. Absolutely arogant and unprofessional behaviour from the staff. Looking at the other comments it even looks like we got off lucky. Rooms are full of stale air and the bathroom smelled like someone has died there Overly expensive for what it offers.

The staff and Boris are absolutely horrible and on no way client oriented. Arrogant and disrespectful. Avoid if you don't want a bad experience

Stayed here a week ago for a couple of nights, lovely place, very clean and beautifully decorated. Not quite understanding the reviews about boris cause I thought he was very polite and always with a smile as was his staff, in my opinion maybe it was the guests that were at fault! I will definitely return to this gorgeous palace๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š

The uniqueness of this hotel is only surpassed by the family who makes it not a hotel but your home. Boris and his family make this feel like a place that you have to stay at when you visit and if you return. Boris treated us to a wonderful tour of the hotel which includes an amazing wine tasting center, wedding venue and night club. All of this is impeccably decorated and welcoming. The service extended beyond check out when the day AFTER we checked out, Boris secured us a car service from Plovdiv back to Sofia. I will always appreciate his hospitality and will be forever grateful for the experience Boris provided. If you stay get the breakfast.....and any other meal. The food is fresh, simple yet sophisticated and the views as you eat outside cannot be matched.

Hands down one of the most amazing boutique hotels Iโ€™ve ever stayed at. My room was massive and the furniture was very ornate and gorgeous. I had my own balcony as well. The staff is amazingly kind and the owner Boris is unlike any hotel keeper you will ever meet. So warm, so kind. He went above and beyond and even gave my friend and I our own private wine tasting and lunch on the terrace. I cannot wait to return. As I write this the hotel has 3.5 stars which is insane. I would give it 10 if I could. Do not miss your chance to stay in this charming piece of heaven. You wonโ€™t regret it.

Beautiful classic style hotel, clean rooms, we were able to get drinks from the bar, Boris was a great host. The restaurant has great views over plovdiv and the location is superb. Right in the old town and a 5 min walk to the bars, cafes and nightlife of Kapana.
