We stayed here in August '19. Mitko went out of his way to ensure our comfort, including supplies, room temperature, food/breakfast, directions, maps, helping us with making bus reservations to Sofia, and many other pieces of information. He shared a wealth of information with us to make our 3-day trip extremely comfortable and enjoyable. Let me put it this way: Plovdiv is the cultural capital of eastern Europe, and Mitko and his hospitality is representative of the best of the best in Plovdiv. If you get a chance to go to Plovdiv, I highly recommend you consider staying at The Roots Hotel and Wine Bar!

We have had a fantastic time at this small (6 room) hotel. It is well-located, with spacious rooms - but the very best thing is Mitka, the owner, who is a sommelier and amazing chef. By all means, opt for his breakfast - and if you want a real treat, ask him to cook dinner for you. It's great after a day of sightseeing to relax with a glass of excellent wine, and Mitka is a delightful person to chat and laugh with. If you enjoy good food and wine, as well as personal interactions when you travel, you won't find a better place to stay in Bulgaria.

Wine, wine and wine. Excellent for its owner, a sommelier and chef. Rooms are great and spacious, except that they are not fully sound proof. Located in the old Town so parking is not always available as that is a no car area. Great base to explore the city and its surroundings.

Great location, very central, right next to the old town. Amazing hospitality, the host is available and always ready to help or give advice about Plovdiv and the surroundings. Nice wine as well! Could park my motorcycle safely in the patio, which was a big plus for me Thanks again for the stay!

Unique boutique hotel in perfect location of Plovdiv between city center and old town. Mitko ensures you have everything you need to make you trip enjoyable. The rooms are basic but good mattresses, clean linens, and air conditioned! Breakfast is ala carte with fresh ingredients, better than any buffet. His high-end coffee machine makes the best coffees, and his conversation will engage you in the local culture and events. Highly recommend!

A quirky boutique hotel in a great location in Plovdiv. They only have 6 or 7 rooms. And they're well-equipt. Comfortable beds. Large bathrooms. Walking distance to Old Town, ancient ruins, and the main drags. Lots of nearby food and shops. The owner/operator is very friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again.

Very comfortable hotel in a privileged area in the historic center. In addition, the owner is very friendly, attentive and english speaker, he also cooks really delicious food. Very satisfied, totally recommended.

Simple accommodation on the edge of the Old Town with all basics provided, including perfect wifi and all-important air conditioning. The serenity of the picture-postcard Old Town is literally just steps away, although bear in mind this area is mainly a quiet residential district with some museums, and that the bulk of the cityโ€™s eating, drinking and shopping options are 7-10 mins walk away on the other side of Obedinitel Boulevard in the Kapana area. (There are a couple of convenience stores close to the hotel.) Roots is clearly a passion project for its owner Mitko, a one-man ambassador for Plovdiv who dedicates himself tirelessly to ensuring his guests have everything they need, both within the hotel and beyond, to enjoy their time in the city. Airport transfers, day trips - just ask, and he will provide. We didnโ€™t get to see the dining room in wine-bar mode but appreciated the effort Mitko made to cook a different traditional Bulgarian breakfast for us every day. All in all, at this price you could not ask for more.

I stayed with a friend at Roots and loved it, from the location in the beautiful old town, to the different breakfasts every morning. Mitko is a wonderful host who will do whatever he can to ensure you have a great trip. If you need to know about somewhere to go in Plovdiv, Mitko will know! The rooms are comfortable and well laid out. A great place to stay and explore lovely Plovdiv.

The hospitality here is second to none. Of all the places Iโ€™ve stayed Mitko is No. 1 host and a real character. The hotel is super clean, comfortable and the location is great. Donโ€™t hesitate to book.

LIFE MADE EASY. Great hotel with good rooms and modern installations. You will find all you need in a superb location at Plovdiv Old Town. But most of all you will meet Mitko who is in charge of solving all your problems, if any, and make you're stay unforgettable. Best choice to stay in town.

Stayed for 2 nights. A very comfortable place, Small but very roomy and clean. Mitko the owner did so much more than expected, like helping us get around the town and arrange a tour. Very recommended! Also - hands down the best coffee around.

Mitko, the owner, is such a nice guy that helps you from the very first moment you make the reservation. The food is great and personalized. He is a great somelier also, so you can enjoy the bulgarian wines. He has always a good recommendation for you that goes fine with the dinner. And, least but not last, he gives you good advice on what to visit in the city and the surrondings. The rooms? It doesn't matter, but they are spot and confortable.

The Roots Hotel & Wine Bar in Plovdiv was a great experience for us. Miko is a gracious host and made us feel like we were family. From the time he called us to ensure we knew how to get there to his welcoming attitude and helpful suggestions as to where to go and what to do during our 3 day stay. We went with the breakfast included option which was made fresh to order each morning. Lattes, homemade pastries and eggs made as you like were always a great start to our day. His restaurant and bar suggestions were spot on. The room was very clean and and had everything we needed. Would highly recommend to friends and family to stay here. Thanks for making our stay in Plovdiv memorable Miko!
