Not the best place for couples without children it is over crowded with children a lot of noise at the pool side. Saunas are clean and pleasant. Rooms are clean but renovation is needed. There was a really bad smell coming from the a/c. The breakfast and dinner was nice, food was tasty.

The rooms have a problem wit the a/c so they are hot. The service is on a top level. But all of the swimming pools need refreshments, I have cut my foot on a missing peace of tile... Not the best experience, but the place is nice it needs some improvement

Update. On my booking profile I reviewed them as pet hostile. We weren't allowed to take our 10-kilo dog but I didn't mention that. I also mentioned the staff, at least the winter staff was rude. They obviously misconstrued and replied this : Our attitude is kind enough, but on the topic of pets we are obliged to make a serious remark when we have complaints from other guests that pet owners accommodated in the hotel do not take care of them during their stay at the hotel. Our pet policies are listed on our official website. We accept pets, but their care and control is in the hands of their owners. They are not allowed everywhere, because not all customers are happy to have pets around them while eating or enjoying their holiday in the spa. We have found a balanced compromise. Yes, we allow pets and thus make it easier for our guests not to have difficulty finding shelter for them. But in order for our other guests to feel special, we can't let animals in everywhere. Update: We already visited for the second time. We just know our dog is not welcome.

Pool and breakfast are very good. However air condition wasn’t working (28 degrees in the room) and shower water was jumping between cold and hot make it a new experience to have a shower.

Arrived at the hotel around 13:30, cars were blocking the main road inside the hotel and no valet service available. No assistance whatsoever with the luggage which makes it difficult if you’re checking in with kids. Reception/check in counter is on the right side and the lobby lighting is poor, very unwelcoming. Check in staff were helpful and efficient. The air conditioning system is hardly blowing air however not cooling. Corridors, rooms and amenities are over used and must undergo maintenance, repairs and renovation. One of the kids bed was broken and wasn’t checked by housekeeping when installed in the room. The double size bed was so overused and the Facilities are just fine, pools and jacuzzi’s indoor and outdoor are working. The towels provided for the swimming are too small it can hardly cover Half of the sun bed. The breakfast buffet has a good selection of cold and hot meals however food and hygiene is poor. We were initially planning to stay for 5 nights however we decided to leave the next morning. No staff bothered to check satisfaction. Not a place to stay.

Great facilities, saunas and steam room amazing, pools are perfect temperature. Cons: too many small children in spa area, children with nappies in the spa pools. Too much noise and not relaxing at all. Please make adult only areas and pools.

The hotel is old, there is no hot water, the service is disgusting, the room was dirty, the food was awful. The management of the hotel is missing always. I would NOT come back!

As person who is travelling a lot and staying in different hotels, I found Markovo hotel as a great place for families with children, but a few items really stand up for us based on our own experience and the fact that we are not from Bulgaria.

Fantastic place for families with kids, just like they claim. We had a great time there, and I wanted to share our experience with you. The hotel is really close to Plovdiv, so it's easy to get to. The views from the rooms are amazing, and they have a huge outdoor space with all sorts of attractions. It was pretty windy during our stay, so we enjoyed the view from our room instead of going out. You should have seen the indoor pool area – it's like a little aqua park made just for kids! Our toddlers loved the different shallow pools and water attractions. It got a bit crowded at times, but it didn't bother us too much. The animators and the kids' playground were excellent. The staff were experienced and kind, and they really knew how to make the children have a good time. The hygiene measures were top-notch too, with hand sanitizers and disposable shoe bags for the adults. Our room was spacious and super clean, even in the places that are usually left untouched by daily cleaning. The bathroom was huge as well! We did notice that the aluminum windows needed some adjusting, though, because they let in some drafts during the windy weather. Now, about the food. The hotel's restaurant was spacious and clean with nice views, but the food wasn't really up to our taste. However, we found this great family restaurant called "The Friends" just a few minutes away, and we ended up eating our lunches and dinners there. The breakfast at the hotel, on the other hand, was really, really good. The outdoor area was beautiful, with greenery, a pond with ducks, and animators flying kites with the kids. We were also pleasantly surprised to see that the hotel was well-maintained, with teams taking care of maintenance and repairs during our stay. So, overall, we had a fantastic time at Markovo Hotel and Spa. It truly deserves all the best family hotel awards it has received in the last few years. There were a few minor downsides, like the restaurant's food and the aluminum windows, but we would definitely go back there. I highly recommend it if you're looking for a family-friendly getaway!

Best place to have a quiet time away from the concrete jungle! Awesome park where you can leave your child to play and eventually forget about them :D Food is delicious and the service is great!

Really positive experience. Plenty of things to be done for young children. The spa part is well maintained. Recommending. Only a lot bit expensive as close to Plovdiv and in a soo called expensive village.

Beautiful place to have an event or to stay and relax. I had my wedding there and I believe I couldn't find anything better in this region.

So just to clarify my rating: Location: very good choice. Close to Plovdiv. Highway to the hotel and mineral water pool Rooms: deluxe room - perfect, standard room - terrible. There is no way you go and pay in a hotel where you can't choose the aircondition temperature in your room. Service: Spa is good, spa services just ok, I had a massage. Not really worth it. Pools both outdoor and indoor are great, but definitely need some repairs. Generally lobby bar, corridors & etc needs update and AIRCONDITION. there is nothing. Everywhere is just hot. I haven't been in a hotel without aircondition inside.

This place probably was good 5 years ago.... First of all it is definitely not meeting the 50 Leva charge per person. Everywhere is very dirty showers, changing rooms, toilets and kids pools . Kids pools has arches and pipes that are covered in some green dirt and rust. Bolts are not covered with caps very dangerous for the kids. Tiles missing in showers, pools. Staff at spa reception look and act unfriendly. Upon arrival been told no spaces available without even checking. After asking politely one of the ladies decided to check and told us that will let us in and we are the last one getting in. Literally after us they let in more and more people to the point where indoor pools were Full of kids and adults. Burgers are horrible. Been to other spa places that charge around 35 leva and you get clean and nice areas that are luxury. At least we know this place is not worth visiting. Needs a lot of work to be done.

One of the best family hotels in Bulgaria. Cant wait for the reconstruction.

  • 1/5 Yu. M. 4 months ago on Google
Misleading information on their website about some promotional Christmas packages, you arrive at the place - it’s under reconstruction, closed. I called them so many times in the last days - no one picks up the phone, no message on their website, no response to emails, anything! So I needed to come that far just to get to know they’re closed. It’s a shame and it’s not how you make business. Remove your ugly Christmas and New Year packages and promotional prices if you are closed, don’t mislead people and lose their time and money.

It was a favorite place. We are visiting the hotel 1 or 2 times per year as we have 2 kids. It has everything for children from 2 to 12, I can say ( inside and outside) @#. Great Family concept! However, they stopped cleaning rooms every day - taking only the trash from the bins I am not considering as a cleaning service... And due to high demand there are some rooms that need to be renovated already. Otherwise, we are not going to pay higher rates anymore. The food is great

Our deluxe room had a problem with air conditioning. The food in the restaurant wasn’t good. In the evening we didn’t have hot water. It was quite disappointing experience.

They say it's the best hotel for family vacation in Bulgaria, and we can confirm it lives up to the expectations. The service is friendly, the rooms are spacious, there are a lot of activities for the little ones. The restaurant is okay (some meals are good, some not that much), but the breakfast... THE BREAKFAST IS OUTSTANDING! So much choice and really great quality products, a lot of home made pastries, pancakes, everything you may dream of! I would rate the garden second-best after the breakfast, it is really beautiful with a couple of playgrounds, pool, pond, football field, tennis court, mini golf, and a lot of greenery. Would definitely recommend for a family vacation, especially with kids 3-12 years old.

Not very good location. Rooms are big, but very neglected, smelly and humid. There were very hot in the building. Air conditioning not working in the rooms, beds were not very comfortable. Food was good but expensive for the quality.

Wonderful. After 800km by motorbikes we felt fully relaxed. The room nicely organised. Very helpful staff. Nice location as didn't have to ride in the centre of the city.

Location - hotel is situated a couple of kilometers outside Plovdiv, really easy to get to by public transport to Plovdiv and short taxi ride from Plovdiv (the taxi from town costs about 12 BGN). As we don't drive, location was one of the reasons we chose it. Room - we booked a triple room as my son is a bit too old now to sleep on chair beds. If you expect luxury, you won't find it, but the room was spacious (with 3 single beds), very clean, air conditioned and adequately furnished - no complaints. The only problem was that there was no balcony and respectively - nowhere to dry wet bathing suits. However, this was solved by very polite cleaning staff who gave us a foldable drying rack. Hygiene - the cleaning staff knocked on the door every day in the afternoon to ask if we need anything. As we only stayed for 4 nights, we didn't ask for the room to be cleaned, but everything else we asked for was done with no problems - emptying bins, towel change, extra pillows etc. So again - no complaints Food- breakfast was great, food in the restaurant and lobby bar was good. At the beginning we thought it is a bit overpriced, but when we compared it to the prices in Kapana area in town, the cost is comparable. The only recommendation I could make is for a lunch menu - there is none at the moment. Pools - the outside pool is too cold for my taste, but the indoor ones are nice and warm. You can get towels from the spa reception and there are plenty of parasols and sunbeds outside - one of the few hotels I didn't have to reserve one at dawn. The only reason I am giving the hotel 4 star rating and not 5, is the huge wasps infestation. You have to be very careful when sitting/lying down on sunbeds and it is virtually impossible to eat outside during the day - your food is swarmed by the wasps within seconds. The wasp traps that are hanging around are not effective at all and the hotel management definitely needs to act and hire professional help. Animation - my son is a grumpy teenager, so we didn't try any of the kiddies' entertainment, but there are activities for older children as well - gaming, electric scooters, etc. They come at extra cost, but are very affordable (1h of gaming for 13BGN, etc)

Great place for families! Though of every detail about a vacation with kids, even for the babies - there was a buffet breakfast with different purees, juices and baby meals! The first place i see such thing! The first place i visit completely made for kids - nice, hot pools, different playgrounds, kids club and even cinema! Delicious and food for every taste on breakfast and dinner! Loved that place! The most important thing - there is access to every place for people with special needs! We as a family with two small kids were impressed! That's the best family hotel!

Very nice hotel, especially for families with kids - interestind kids entertainment, hotel is well prepared for all ages, including even meals for kids in the restaurant. Great view from the hotel, space around, great garden... nice place for a long weekend, 10 min by car from Plovdiv center.

Very good SPA and pool for both parents and kids. Variety of good food for both breakfast and dinner. Good kids zone with good animators. There are movie nights and special animation for the kids every day - decent. Rooms need more care. Overall very good experience :)

Would definitely visit again. Super relaxing for adults and super fun for children. The food was average and there was a lamp on the balcony, which was quite inconvenient, also the bathroom door was made of glass, and we did not appreciate that much, but the overall experience was great. I had a chance to finally relax a bit 😂

In all honesty the score is 4.6, but could not round it up to 5 stars as that would imply it's perfect as is. My main concerns are mostly about the SPA side, as rooms and restaurant/bar were pretty much spot on without anything obvious to be improved! The SPA would benefit from a bit of a maintenance, there were broken boars in on of the saunas. On the outside jacuzzi some of the jet/bubble "on" buttons accomplished nothing. A refreshment is needed as the SPA sees a lot of traffic and wears down. Food in the restaurant is tasty and fresh, adequately priced, almost affordable. Rooms are clean and spacious. Bathrooms in the rooms are perfect.

If you are looking for a place where your kids can have fun, this is a great place! BUT, the room cannot be locked from inside which is bad for toddlers, the bathroom door is just a glass door with gaps between the walls and cannot be locked, this is bad because the lights go though the door straight to the baby's original bed positioning. There are lights on the balcony that cannot be stopped until 12pm.. so yeah again it is bright in the room. In our room there was a leak from the air-conditioning system and constantly you could hear drops from somewhere... The food is average. My honest opinion is that the small pool should be cleaned more often, but I don't like pools so do not count on my opinion for this. In terms of conditions for kids, oh my god it is perfect. There are great animators, outside and inside playgrounds, and also there are animals which is always great. Parking lot and the SPA center are great as well.
