Very emotional place, related to the balkan history. A tragedy, when in 1876 5000 bulgarian people were slaghtered by the otomans.

Batak is a place of pilgrimage for most, if not all Bulgarians. A tear in the eye and a lump in the throat after you visit both the museum and the church. A tragedy that awakened the world to their plight and put them (for a while) on the world stage.

The tour guide was absolutely fantastic! She walked us through the tragic and heroic history of Batak in a gentle and the same time honest way. She was very kind and patient and replied to the many questions we had.

A great modern museum of the history of Batak. It has everything for people with disabilities and also an amazing array of public video displays where anyone can learn everything they need about the whole region via very well made shirt documentaries! Definitely worth a visit!

Impressive place! Photographs can be taken in the museum for a BGN 2 fee. Admission for adults is BGN 12. The museum is located in the center of Batak. Visit it!

A museum that every Bulgarian should visit at least once to understand the history and the fight of its people against Ottoman terror. I now have so much respect for the heroism and sacrifice of the residents of this small town in the middle of the mountains.

I am trying to understand which schizophrenic brain decided to put a crypt of partisans in a museum dedicated to one of the most heroic sacrifices in Bulgarian history?!? Apparently, it occurred to someone that they could put a sign of equality between the Batash massacre and the partisan movement...

I love it! You can learn a lot here. The interesting and dark story of city of Batak is well and deeply written with a lot of examples and photos. And when you are reading it piece after piece from the crypt to the second floor you really begin to understand the horror that the people from Batak were put through.

Very good and well organized history museum! I loved it! It's also wheelchair accessible on all stories. You can also buy some souvenirs from here. I'll be back there again.
