A pleasant walk, wear good shoes but can get a bit muddy after the rain. Getting here There is a bus stop right outside the main entrance. Ask driver for JUODKRANTĖ. „Raganų kalnas“ It’s about 3 or 4 euros from Nida. About the sculptures = Visit the website which has a map and can enhance the hiking experience. You can easily switch to English. Not all have a description. You’ll want at least 1.5 - 2 hours here to leisurely walk and admire these wood carved statues. @BalticWorld

A great hike right in the middle of Juodkrantė. The only place where a guided tour is really a great option. Every sculpture has its story and its really hard to fully understand it without some help from tour guides or from the internet. Other than that a great 20 min walk in a forest. Easy access to the beach from the middle of the walking path. Lots of arrows and tourist info signs of where to go.

The Hill of Witches, was created in 1979 after inviting woodcarvers and blacksmiths from all over Lithuania to Juodkrantė. The exposition of the wooden sculptures of the Witches' Hill starts from the stone steps between two historical highlights of the landscape. How was the exhibition of wooden sculptures born? on the 8th Dec. Creative camps of folk artists-wood carvers became popular in Lithuania, during which such ensembles of sculptures as "Čiurlionio kelias" (Druskininkai and Varėna municipality), Ablinga memorial sculpture ensemble, etc., were created. These examples in 1979 encouraged the representatives of the then Neringa municipality to organize a similar creative camp in Juodkrante, dedicating the created works to the International Year of the Child.

Very interesting place to be and visit ! Wooden sculptures are interesting and makes you wonder who can make something like that, because each sculpture are different and with so many details within... so go and see by yourself ! Walk can take around ~ 1 h to 2 h depending how fast you explore !

In the village of Juodkrante, LI, located on the Curonian Spit near the port city of Klaipeda, a curious folktale involving Neringa and Naglis, and a sea dragon intent on destroying their sandy home is exhibited along an ancient forest trail. A guild of woodcarvers have placed their works depicting this tale and that of supposed witches & demons whom reputedly hosted parties there from time immemorial. The carvings are large and unbelievably intricate and creative. We were fortunate to have a guide lead us. Quite an interesting place that one must seen.

This one is definitely worth a visit if you’re heading to the Curonian Spit. The quality of the pieces of art is very high, and there’s a huge number of them. We spent a very pleasant couple of hours walking through the woods, and we met no one else on our journey. You do need to enter the National Park to see these so will need to pay the fee that varies from €5-30 depending on time of year. I recommend coming to see this off-season as the whole Curonian Spit can be extremely busy in the summer.

Really walk/trekking area in the forest with strangers wooden figures - to get there by yourself please check the buses times as it run like every two hours from the old ferry terminal

One of the most interesting art installations I have been to in a long time. Wonderful scenery, great craftsmanship and free to enter. Although if you plan on driving, you will need to pay for the ferry from Klaipeda and then another toll on the spit which is a carbon offsetting tax.

Amazing place for a walk in the woods, FREE entrance😉 Interesting wooden sculptures, not all of them have description, but you can find more info and stories about them in the internet!

A must see where you are in the area. Beautiful forest with lovely statues. Some statues are interactive and can be played with. The walk itself is quite short around 30 min, but it can take longer depending on how much time you spend with each statue. I spend around 1,5 h there. I definitely recommend the website, although its not the easiest to manoeuvre there are recordings of stories that go with the statues. They are interesting and high quality

Ancient Lithuanian mythology creature sculptures made out of wood a long time ago. The moment you enter this Witch Hill you can feel the aura of the forest being mysterious and inviting, it takes you on a journey, tells you a story. Recommend doing research about those old mythologies/stories in order to understand the sculptures, what they are trying to say. Forest/park is well taken care of, lots of childhood memories made. Watch out for the roots of the pine trees you could easily trip and fall.

Wonderful, mystical, original, beautiful and definitely worth experiencing for both adults and kids. The only improvement that I hope will be made in the future, is the addition of the legends and folklore stories each sculpture is based on. I am a local, but only recognised a few of them.

A nice walk through the woods with well maintained wood sculptures. Some of them were interactive too.

Enjoyed it a lot! Love those kind of open-air museums, especially in the forest

Nice walking tour with interesting wooden sculptures. We have been there in the bright light of day, maybe it would have been scarier at night or in the winter with snow😉.

Delfinitely worth a visit if not a must stop. A nice walk in the woods (or dunes) is still a memorable experience.

A must visit place in Neringa / Juodkrante. Sacred, vibrant and exciting place. Good for secret rituals, black magic, tripping etc stuff. Recommended for all witches, sorcerers and wizards. You can spend hours and finaly go to the beach and pizza afterwards.

A nice relaxing walk with very interesting carvings. What really made the place was our guide contracted to the cruise ship; she was excellent. With her, we did not have to rely on written explanations. I think there are audio tours available. An explanation of the carvings brings the Hill of Witches to life.

FREE and bigger than I expected with nice walking path. The carvings were a variety of size and complexity but very artistic and worth seeing. Multiple trails lead off in the area and it was not clear to me where they went or how long (no park or trail map). Wish they had an artistic explanation of the carving or inspiration. Overall a fun stop and likely takes 30 minutes to see basic carvings and not taking any side trails. Be aware, there are multiple steps to access this area.

This was a real surprise. I originally went as the name was funny, but found a really great one mile walk through the trees. The sculptures are interesting and varied and the path is well kept. Not suitable for those with mobility issues, however.

Very beautiful hill, especially in autumn! Very cozy filled with tons of authentic Lithuanian wood sculptures of Lithuanian folklore. If you're in the region, I highly reccomend taking a walk there!

We didn't expect much from the place but really enjoyed it. Came in early morning and were literally alone there. The statues look way better and authentic in person that they do in the pictures. Skillful carving and lots of work put into them. The place really worth visiting especially when it's not crowded.

Interesting walk in the woods, no problem with parking which is just across the street. Recommended especially on a hot day, as the trees give an opportunity to take a break from the heat. The place is also dog friendly, many trash bins on the way.

👍 Beautiful place, well maintained. But €5 entrance fee after already having paid for entrance to the national park (€ 30,-)... come on! For that matter the parking area should be expanded, it can barely hold 10 (to 15, if all free space is used) cars. Not accessible for wheelchairs.

👍 At the time of posting, the location on the map is wrong. The map points to the small settlement nearby, but the lighthouse itself is on Urbas Hill (Urbo kalnas). It took is a while to figure that out. The lighthouse and the view are really pretty!

👍👍 Magnificent view in both direction. From the main road side the parking is really tiny only for up to 5 cars. The walk uphill takes up to 15 min. Alternative route is available through forest for hiking or with mountain bike.
