Decided to take the long way home from Philadelphia and stopped by this amazing garden in Wayne, PA. It was recommended by a friend and I’m so glad I took her advice. Parking is free must you must reserve a spot before arriving. You can pay for your entry ($12 for an individual) either on line or in person. The weather was perfect and the garden, immaculate. Great pride and thought was given to how the grounds should look. There were many places to sit in both the sun or the shade and water fountains were plenty (I had forgotten water). The area Chanticleer is in is stunning, even the ride was pleasant. If you are near this garden, go!

Absolutely stunning!!! There are close to 50 acres of gardens to enjoy. The entire place was incredible from start to finish. We spent approximately 4 hours here, and could have stayed longer. There is so much to see and it is a dream location for taking photos. We even brought a picnic lunch and ate in the green house which has tables and is open for visitors to use for dining in the warm months. (*You have to bring your own food as they do not sell any.) Entrance fee is $12.00 and parking is free but you need to make a reservation. This place is a must for garden enthusiasts!

What a wonderful inspiring magical garden! I feel like you go to a Longwood Gardens to see individual specimens and learn about them and have a more commercial experience (lots of concrete sidewalks, beer gardens and snack booths, etc), and you come here to just forget all that and enjoy an idealized version of nature the way we wish it was without our "help" and maintenance. No weeds, enticing paths, beautiful commingled arrangements, water features, high viewpoints, old ruins, lots of hidden pockets to disperse the crowds, no obvious signage or advertising..... this is a garden to experience and enjoy. One bathroom facility at the entrance, definitely some hilly paths, bring your own snacks if you must have them, and plan on at least 3 leisurely hours if you have good mobility and want to see most of the highlights without a long break. If I could pick one garden around the world to visit on a daily basis, I think this would be it - don't miss it.

It was absolutely amazing and peaceful. I would go here a million times. I went on a Saturday in the early afternoon and the parking lot was pretty much full yet the park did not feel crowded at all due to its size. The employees were pleasant and helpful. As soon as I arrived there was a courteous lady who had helped us directionally to park the car and wished us a nice visit. You will be given a map as you walk up to the stand at the beginning of the attraction. There were gardeners on duty tending to the plants and I ran into a couple employees feeding the koi (I swear there were over 50 easily) and they were super kind to ask if any of the guests wanted to have a go at feeding them. I highly recommend this place for nature lovers. They have a wide variety of plants (which personally I was obsessing over) and trees that look like they’ve been there for CENTURIES. They were gigantic. There is a large field with tons of old trees where they have thoughtfully placed some unique, hand decorated benches, perfect to sit and read a book. Only thing missing is I wish they would’ve had a little cafe because after the visit I was STARVING. The employees were all very helpful. Everyone was just honestly super zen. You leave feeling just great.

I feel like I've been inserted into a fairy tale! Chanticleer is such a breathtakingly beautiful place for passive, low stress entertainment. There is ample space to spread out from others and enjoy nature and some of the most lovely scenery on the east coast. Parking is limited so you must reserve a parking spot or you will not be able to enter. Parking is free and first-come-first-served after 3:30 pm. The gardens close at 5pm. The grounds slope downward so to see everything, one must walk down the hill and then back up. This could be difficult for someone with mobility constraints so plan accordingly. There are many shaded areas so it isn't too bad on a hot summer day but better to plan for a temperate day so you get the most out of your experience. Don't forget to charge your phone! There are infinite opportunities to take stunning photos.

I went yesterday. Beginning of Sept.. Flowers everywhere 🙂 Another visit to catch fall flowers is on my list. This is a ¼-⅓ of a day experience. Great facilities. Immaculate almost. Wonderful mix of the bones of old bones landscape design with a well integrated pollinator garden pop culture. I think they're dappling with permaculture and I like food being mixed into landscape. I would hate to compare it with other outstanding gardens because it has its own charm with great use of elevation gain n 3D design. Be prepared for hill hiking. I managed, a little stiff from Parkinson's - was a bit wearing. We snacked on sheep feta n crackers and yogurt. We packed in n packed out. There was at least one water bottle fill station.

Absolutely breathtaking. My boyfriend took me here and we walked around for what seemed like forever. Beautiful spots for a photography session if desired. Absolutely wonderful staff. So relaxing and peaceful, especially down through the woods and across the stream. I can't stop saying how gorgeous it was, all the pictures we took came out amazing too. Would love to come back for a picnic, highly recommend!

I visited Chanticleer Garden for the first time this past weekend and I absolutely loved it! The gardens are huge and there is plenty of room to wander around without feeling crowded. The landscapes are incredibly tranquil and relaxing, perfect for a picnic or a peaceful stroll. In addition, the stroller-friendly nature of the gardens makes it easy for parents to enjoy a day out with their kids. There are also open fields for kids to run around, making it a great place to go for a family outing. And last but not least, stroller-friendly grounds make it easy for parents to enjoy their time too. Parking was also not an issue. I highly recommend visiting Chanticleer Garden if you're looking for a beautiful landscape to explore!

This is a historical landmark for Philadelphia. Note that loud animals and sound is not allowed. You can take a pleasurable walk while also reserving a spot for parking. The place was developed for the main line from the founders of Merck and has historically built in 1912 as a place to escape the city. It has several zones inside including a mill, veggie garden and koi pond along with several small spots for events. We went in early spring before the blooming but it was so pretty...reminded me of the secret garden.

Be sure to reserve parking ahead of time! This garden is always impeccably maintained and contains so many beautiful spots within a very walkable-sized area. My daughter enjoys playing around the reflecting pool near the old estate house, saying hello to the koi and catfish, and counting the rooster statues. I love the ruins, the Bulb Meadow in autumn, and the wisteria in May. The bathrooms are beautiful and clean (my favorite is the Japanese-themed one in the Asian Woods), and there’s even a water bottle filling station. The only downside is the small parking lot, so be sure to reserve ahead of time.

I love these gardens. Such a beautiful, well cared for garden to wander around & much bigger than i thought it would be. There's different sections with flowers & trees specific to that area. There is a box in each that holds pictures of the flowers displayed there; my favorite is the one that looks like a beehive. There's so many varieties blooming at the same time, it's gorgeous. At the end there is a veggie/herb garden & an English garden I'm so jealous of. There's many bird nests with babies. The entry price is reasonable & free to professionals. Parking should be reserved no matter what day even though the website doesn't say to. We were lucky to get parking without a reservation.

Love this place. Beautiful grounds, well kept, not too large, yet so much to see. Plenty of places to sit, eat and just enjoy nature. Bring your own picnic basket and water. Parking is by reservation so make sure you do this. They had to turn visitors away. A nice lot for handicapped.

Amazing, beautiful landscaping and care. We had a beautiful weather day and spent time walking. Alot of shade and places to sit and reflect. I enjoyed my time with friends immensely. Will be back again.

I don’t even think this majestic place needs reviews! If there is a Heaven I would imagine it to looks like this garden. I’ve been here many time and ready to go again and again. If you are the first time in here, check some context behind the garden so to know what is this about. If you admire beautiful landscape, and have a passion to flowers, plants, furniture and gardening you will not be disappointed with this place! Note: you’ll need a parking reservation for a specific time, since the parking is limited. Admission is 15$ per person and there is a map of the park. You can also book a tour. Bathrooms are available and they are very clean!

Came in on a rainy day but were so glad we decided to stopped by.. Not knowing what to expect, we were blown away by all the flowers and the thoughtful landscaping.. I’ve been to quite a few gardens and will say this is one of the best and a must if you are in the area.. Will definitely come back again!

Was shocked by how great of a time this was. Rivals Longwood Gardens. We got free passes for 4 from the museum and spent about 2-3 hours walking around. We had a 3 and 5 year old boy and they really enjoyed it. Everything is meticulously maintained. The staff was so friendly. Bathrooms kept super clean. BRING SOME FOOD! There are several lovely picnic areas to sit down and enjoy the views. There aren’t any concessions served there that we found either. We will definitely be back and would HOGHLY recommend.

What a great, hidden gem! We had a wonderful time exploring these beautiful, peaceful gardens. Highly recommend going on the days they offer house tours. Our guide Susan was very informative and amusing. I’d give her 6 stars if I could. Besides providing information about the house and family, she also gave us an overview and insight into how the different gardens are managed. Looking forward to going back in springtime to see even more flowers in bloom.

Chanticleer is, by far, my favorite local garden. No matter what month, it’s always beautiful and feels magical. Love the little rambling pathways, the ruins of the old house and stone water table, and the many tucked away chairs to rest in.

Chanticleer garden is truly beautiful. With it's rolling hills and beautiful and dense gardens you find yourself strolling around in wonder and delight. The ponds of koi and turtles add to the beauty along with the most beautiful lotus flowers. If you find yourself close to Chanticleer and can visit for a time you won't be disappointed.

Beautiful and peaceful - a wonderful way to spend time in nature and appreciate various flowers and vegetation. There are various trails (paved, rocky, and grass paths) that weave around the property and allow you to explore the various gardens. Highly recommend visiting Chanticleer!

There is so much to please the eye here. There are wandering paths and large expanses of open green area; there are little gardens tucked away near ponds and streams and whimsical sculptures, some of them enormous. My only negative impression is the lack of signage. You are given a map at the start with names of all the many buildings, structures and pieces of art, but I could find no signs near any structure or landmark that indicated what it was. So throughout most of my visit I didn’t know where I was or what I was looking at. How hard are small signs and some direction markers along the paths? Nevertheless I can’t wait to go back.

Absolutely beautiful! Incredibly friendly people and the grounds are just gorgeous. This is one of the nicest gardens I have visited and truly a jewel of PA. Highly Recommended.

Beautiful! This garden has so many unique features and hidden gems. We highly recommend! There’s lawn chairs throughout the gardens perfect for reading or drawing. All of the staff we encountered were super nice and knowledgeable.

What a beauty in the middle of so much settlement !! We spent a couple of hours here. If it were not so hot, it would easily be 3-4 hours!! You can bring your own food and have a cute little picnic at the picnic tables. There’s fish pond. There are turtles. Bird. So many varieties of flowers/plants and trees. There’s even a creek with water flowing-this sound is so serene!! There are benches near the creek. Sit and soak it all in

I visited again to my favorite garden in the Philadelphia area. I chose a different season with this visit to enjoy the planting progress. It never disappoints! My favorite of all I visited in the garden passport book. Btw...thanks for that free book with great ideas!

Chanticleer, a 35-acre pleasure garden, is a beautiful and exciting garden with native and exotic plants and flowers. Comfortable and easy paths, picnic areas. You can see everything in a couple of hours. Parking is limited, so a reservation for parking is a must. And no pets.

We LOVE this garden!! So many beautiful and interesting varieties of flowers, plants, trees, fountains, ponds, etc. And it's all spread out perfectly in a very walkable, peaceful setting. Beautiful in the sunshine AND when it's pouring outside! Some parts are hilly so it can be a nice "mild workout" walk. Great scenery while burning a few calories.

Chanticleer is one of the most gorgeous places I’ve had the privilege to visit. Every bit of this land is carefully maintained, each piece of the garden is perfectly in place to create an enjoyable walk through nature. The paths never get too dull as you can take one of the many branching pathways which are all individually decorated with carved rocks, handmade benches often, and ornate stone-work laid within the paths themselves. The staff here keeps the vision of the original owners garden while elevating it with well placed stones, archways and paths winding through the landscapes. We were awestruck by the beauty of this place, which was only elevated by the fall colors. My partner and I chose a Thursday morning around 11:30 to arrive and it was perfect! Very few people were here, but the staff was incredibly kind. The woman who checked us in saw us later into the walk and gave us some history on the ‘Ruins’ section of the land. It was audibly quiet, which made the experience all the more lovely. Everything was well maintained and clean in the restrooms as well as most of the trails and sitting areas. Overall this location is beautiful during the fall and the walk was a comfortable length with benches and sitting areas for those who need them. I highly recommend this place for anyone who is considering. At $12 per adult this a fantastic price for the time spent here.
