Great location, right on the main road in Youngstown! It is a classic Residence Inn and the two-bedroom rooms have a full stove, sink, dishwasher, fridge, and microwave, which made it really easy for meals. However, I last stayed here 8 years ago and it looks like little had been done to the hotel since then. The rooms and decor were very tired, and our room hadn't even been cleaned well. There were clumps of hair on the floor, and bits of trash still in the corner. If it hadn't been the last hotel room on a Thanksgiving weekend, I would have asked for a different one. Make sure to check your room carefully when you check in!

Overall, this was an okay suite hotel type of place to stay. There was just a million little issues, had I been staying more than one night I would have addressed. Hair left in the tub and sink, I wonder how well it was cleaned??? Sink and toilet both didn't drain correctly, there were stains all over the carpet and ceilings. The shampoo and conditioner bottles in the shower were both broken. It was quiet and the front desk staff was very helpful. The breakfast was below the quality level of what I would expect for what I paid for this hotel too. They need to take better care of this place or I could see it being completely trashed in a year or two. Management here needs to do a better job observing the cleaning, maintenence, and breakfast staff here for sure!! I cannot recommend this place in its current state.

I usually DO NOT leave bad reviews, but this hotel deserves one. I am highly disappointed that this hotel sent me an email after 4 PM to cancel my hotel an hour after check-in due to current guests deciding to extend their stay. Furthermore, I am disappointed how they chose to cancel my two-bedroom suite and then move from Ohio to New Castle in P.A. into a one-bedroom when I originally reserved a room for four of my guests traveling for my graduation. Upon my parent's arrival, they were told by the employees at the desk at New Castle that The Residence Inn had decided to pay for only one of my rooms. This was not the original agreement made by the management at the Residence Inn after one of my family members had called. The manager told us that they would cover both rooms due to the displacement. This does not make sense. I originally booked a two-bedroom suite with two bedrooms for FOUR guests. How do you cancel my booking and transfer me to another hotel (almost 30 miles out), and tell me that you will only cover the cost of one room with one bed? What about the other two guests who were displaced? I'm sorry, but this is not my issue, and I did book almost a week in advance? This experience caused nothing but anxiety on the morning of my graduation. It devastated my graduation experience, and I would NOT recommend this hotel to anyone. Another person traveling with me decided to call the Marriott because they are a brand member. They were told that there was nothing they could do for me because they only resolved issues for Marriot members. This is about ETHICS, and I will seek to recover my loss and additional costs incurred. After all... I incurred an extra $200 because they chose to transfer my booking almost 30 miles out from their hotel. Oh, and can you believe Residence Inn still charged me $400? I will continue to monitor these charges to see if the funds will be returned to my account. SAVE YOURSELF THE STRESS; IT IS NOT WORTH IT!!!! I give credit where it is due; Therefore, it is only fitting that I mention that the New Hampton Hotel in White Castle, PA, was extremely helpful in helping us figure this all out. P.S. I also think it is unfair not to advertise that this hotel is an extended stay hotel...

The front desk lady was rude as can be! I asked about ice and she talked to me like I was stupid! We WILL NEVER be back to this location! We travel alot and have many choices of hotels! I suggest staying away from this one, until they train their staff how to treat guests!

The room was simply "shabby". Crooked TV stand, torn carpet, cigarette burns in carpet, refrigerator looked beat on including the floor in front, vents in rooms would not open or close, fireplace was beat up. No where close to where I would expect a Marriott hotel and the cost was outrageous for the quality of the room and service. Breakfast was below average....I really have nothing good to say except the AC worked and I found a good parking spot. If you want to stay in the Boardman/Poland OH area, avoid this Marriott hotel.

I have to agree with many of the reviews here..shabby and greedy AND not worthy of the Marriott name. The room was spacious, but carpet was frayed and burnt. I was here for 2 nights and used points to pay for one of them because of the outrageous price (nearly $300 with taxes, etc) and they charge $3 parking on top of that! This is Nowhere Ohio..not NYC!!!

The cost of the stay doesn’t justify the room No cleaning service / workers don’t show up so no one offered any fresh towels / also on the first floor—noise from Air-condition was so loud we couldn’t sleep I would. Not recommended this location

Hotel submitted a preauthorization for $240 and another for $230, when I decided to extend my stay to 2 nights instead of 1 due to a power outage at my home. That is $470 "to make sure I had the funds available" , I have never experienced this unless it was for a prepaid stay. ... Holding $470 on my card instead of the standard incidental hold seems like a selective practice by the GM. Anyways my concern is that as of right now, a week after my checkout ... I have a charge of $453 for my 2 night stay and still a pending hold on my account from the preauthorized $230. I called the Residence Inn to release this excessive hold of my funds and was push off to the bank by the rep (Sara) who answered the phone. When I pushed back on why they can not release the hold since they made the preauthorization and my stay was fully charged and paid, I was told there is nothing she can do. I asked to speak to the GM who apparently was standing right next to Sara and he did not even give me the proper respect to listen to anything I had to say. He said "I know the issue and there is nothing we can do, I do not control how the banks operate". He then hung up the phone on me when I tried to explain the mistake they made. The issue was not the bank, it was the hotel who made made both preauthorization and only settled one for the stay. Typically it takes 3 days for a pending charge to fall off, however, 7 days later I still have funds above and beyond my stay of $230 pending on my account. This is a terrible way to do business and an even worse way to handle consumers. The worst part it came directly from the GM, who should be an expert in hospitality. I do not know how long I have to wait for this charge to fall off and that is unacceptable. Mike, the GM is not fit for hospitality.

Disappointed with the condition of the hotel. I always stay at Marriott's and this one was just not up to Marriott standards. It is in desperate need of a refresh. Hallways are beat up, rooms are very tired with lots of issues. Staff was very nice and overall the hotel was clean, but just very tired and in need of a big update.

Overall, the place was fine. I called front desk asking for extra soap, and nobody picked up. They were probably busy and that's fine. My main thing is that the bathroom always smelled musky, even when I didn't use it. Kitchen was great, that dishwasher came in clutch.

My son stayed there with his two children. The "porcelain " was peeling off the bottom and side of the tub. No bath for them.

The guy at the front desk had a very ignorant attitude. My daughter invited a few of my grand daughter's cousins there to have a sleep over for her 6th birthday plus we had a couple extra rooms so the 8 girls can sleep comfortably, soon as my grand daughter arrived, the guy knocked on the door and said ' GET OUT NOW". The girls were only there for 10mins before he knocked on the door. .. This wasn't a birthday party, it was just a sleep over. . Then he told my other family members to leave as well ., they had their own room as a small family. His attitude was so ignorant and sour. As we were leaving he gave us a ignorant smirk. Im a loyalty member of 30 yrs and this was the worst I've ever experienced with a Marriott hotel, .. I will never support this location ever again, mainly with ignorant people like him working there.

Every time I come into town to visit family I stay here and it's always nice to have friendly and helpful staff. Traveling is hard enough but both the late-night staff on 3/18 for check-in and check-out staff on 3/20 made it quick and easy. Rooms are clean, the hotel was quiet, and I would recommend if in town for a few nights.

Filthy and rundown. Water leak in our room coming from the sprinkler system, which doesn't seem safe. Stains everywhere, lights don't work, dirty hallways and floors. Not a great stay.

IF you need a good nights rest, SKIP THIS PLACE! So cheaply constructed, you can hear the guests above you walking around, like you would in a 100yr old house. The floors creak as you walk down the hall. You can even hear the toilets flushing and sinks draining above you. Unbelievably ridiculous.

Older hotel, carpet is coming up and doors need a good wash if not a good paint, but it was clean. This particular Residence use to have the best breakfast ever. Now? Yeah, well. . .

The hotel was run down and not well cared for. Our room smelled like cigarette smoke and the floors in the hallway and elevator were filthy. There were bins and bags of garbage left sitting around in the hallways. It smelled. We always stay with Marriott and this does not meet their typical standards. We will never stay here again.

This hotel has seen better days. Cracked tiles, holes in the walls, damage to the appliances. Overall it’s just beat-up. Great staff working here, and you can tell they are making the best of a tough situation. The owners need to shut down for a year and remodel. Cabinet handles falling off, dents in the refrigerators. It’s time. Unfortunately, this hotel sees good occupancy due to a lack of other options. Especially if you are a BonVoy Marriott member, there’s not a lot to choose from. If you can stay at the courtyard in Canfield, that’s a much better option, but they are frequently 100% booked. Hopefully the owners will reinvest their profits into this property, or Marriott corporate will step in, because this hotel is below standard. Again, this is unfortunate because the staff is working hard and they have some great people here.
