Youngstown State University Bookstore and Barnes & Noble Cafe

Book store

🫤 Didn't have hardly any books. It has 2 shelves of books and school supplies for the college but mainly it's a souvenir shop. Also the 2nd floor was closed for some reason. Maybe they were under construction People often mention books, bookstore, store, nice,

When a student rents a book, B&N require a lot of personal information. Such a requirement (at a campus store) would lead one to believe that they are entering you and your purchase into a database. This is not the case. I went to go return a book after the professor changed the required materials. B&N would not refund me without a receipt. When I asked if they could just look up my information they had no satisfactory response. So, I am stuck with a $200 book I don't need.

Very understanding staff at the front counter. Made me feel welcomed. Knowing there isn't just books like Barnes and Noble but mini Cafe and YSU swag. Great even if you have a a fury friend you want swag for. Everything from baseball hats to sweats and what appeared to even be jerseys and possibly casual wear. There even seemed to be plastic dividers to help with the days we live in. Even looked as though they were ready if the University decided to do temperatures check.

I rented books for the semester here. The staff is always friendly and helpful. You can order online and have them ready to pick up when you get there. Prices are comparable to other book stores.

This university is a blessing to myself and many. As a domestic violence survivor, I can rebuild my life through education. Amen.

Just to clear up confusion for someone who would drive by this store thinking it's like the B&N in Boardman, it's not. It functions as YSU's student bookstore and a place to buy gear and clothing. They sell very little in the way of books that aren't textbooks. That said though, it is a very nice store. And they have a ton of cool YSU gear at decent prices. I was able to find a winter hat and some other goodies to take home, and the staff was very polite and friendly.

Great customer service! I was greeted at the door with an offer of assistance and while they didn't have what I was looking for, the gentleman helping me was delightful. I'll be back!

The book store is very clean and staff is helpful, as well as friendly. The will honor Amazon pricing if the item is shipping specifically from Amazon. There is a Starbucks located inside, which makes great coffee and even smoothies. There are also areas to read and study if you need a space away from campus. This is a nice spot outside of the hustle and bustle of YSU. Sometimes the students working aren't quite helpful enough but they are usually very nice.

It has been years since I was in the bookstore so it was very nice to see what it's transformed into now. Well done YSU, well done

I needed a calculator for an exam and unfortunately forgot to go to the store on my way to class. Stopped at the bookstore and bought what I needed for $203. After I got home I was curious how much said calculator actually cost and found it literally everywhere else for $130. I even found a refurbished one on Amazon for $78. I called the bookstore to see if I could return my over priced calculator, they refused because the package was opened, fine I understand. I then asked if they'd at least price match to which they responded with "only on books". I would never in a million years recommend this seriously overpriced store that claims they don't mark up their products...... Right..... Side note for students like me who need a calculator but obviously can't afford one. Magg library has rentals! Ebay your books, Amazon your calculator avoid the bookstore like it's the plague... Hell you could even get all your penguin gear from local small businesses (shirt shops ect.) and you'd be unique and save money while supporting the area instead of this trashy big business.

What a difference this campus is and the bookstore is evidence of the wonderful changes way to go YSU.
