We were in Fort Lauderdale for the weekend and decided to try OB House for breakfast. This was one of the worst experiences we’ve had at a restaurant. The server was very nice, but when I requested an adjustment to my order because of a medical condition, we were told that the kitchen does things their way. I wasn’t asking because I didn’t like something, I needed everything cooked for health reasons. They don’t take requests to cook food thoroughly. I settled on a breakfast sandwich which was less than enjoyable. It came on VERY THICK 2 inch bread and 1 of the slices was the crust. My husband’s meal was a skillet hash that was not as expected. You order on a mobile website from the table, have to pay the tip in advance, and the food comes out in a foil container. My sandwich came in a bag and there were no plates. Oddly enough, they had real silverware rolled up in a napkin. I wouldn’t have minded being able to cut my sandwich, but I had no plate in which to cut it on. The food was very expensive and was mediocre. Also, there is a Port a Potty for the restroom, but you are not allowed to make a solid waste deposit. Refer to pictures. I would not recommend this place to anyone. They do it their way and are not there to make customers satisfied. Do not make any requests because they are not allowed. When we return to Fort Lauderdale, this is one place we will be sure to avoid.

Overpriced for a dine in experience that included eating all food in aluminum to go containers and self ordering at the table. Arrived around mid-day on Sunday for brunch. There was a short line for the outside garden tables. We put our name down for a table for two and waited for about 25 minutes. After seeing two different 2 person groups who put their names in after us get seated, I approached the hostess table, they got my name wrong and then were told we were next, no apology that we were skipped. After sitting down at the table, we were told to order through the app after scanning a QR code. NOTE: The app requires you to pay a tip prior to ever receiving your food or having a full dining experience. This instantly doesn't feel right. We ordered 2 mains (De-Clawed Omelets and OB Breakfast), which come with one side each, a small Banana-Pecan oven-baked pancake, buttermilk biscuits and an iced coffee. The food was delivered in a metal basket all in covered takeaway aluminum bowls or paper cups. I asked if we were getting plates because we were dining in and we were told the takeaway containers is the concept, as the ownership didn't want to pay the costs for plates and dishwashers, and don't have dedicated table servers if you want to order (hence the QR code). If I am paying $20+ for a single entree, I would expect a dining experience with plates and table service included. The iced coffee was extremely watered down and we couldn't finish it. The food was enjoyable, not the best I've had in Fort Lauderdale, and not worth $80 for 2 people. You can't have the biscuit (which was good) as your side item, you have to order it separately for $4 per biscuit. The side item options for an entree were strange for a brunch (no breakfast potatoes, fruit bowl, vegetables as options). Overall, good food but just not worth the price as one of the more expensive options in the area, due to the food presentation or the self service. Requiring tips paid at the start of a dine in experience isn't right either.

I hadn’t eaten at this restaurant in a couple of years, It was pre-pandemic. Back then it was packed. Always had a 45 minute wait. Never an empty table. This should have been my first clue. As I walked up to ask if there was anything available I could see no customers waiting and I was actually a bit excited. It didn’t take very long to see why they are empty! I mean empty, not one customer! The hostess explained that they no longer have any more snide seating. “Since the pandemic, we no longer offer any inside seating.” My first thought was the pandemic that is over? Ok, so that’s weird but we are here so let’s sit. She further explained that they have a new system of ordering and food delivery. Again, all since the pandemic that has been declared over. We sat down and our server approached us immediately. He explained that we have to scan a QR code for the menu and to place amd pay for our order ahead of time. I remember that is how McDonald’s works also. We ordered our food and it all came to 80.00. Now I’m not a high roller but this would be the most I’ve spent in my life for boxed food. The amount really wasn’t an issue as my memory of the great food we experienced in the past was still unforgettable. Let me explain what I mean about the boxed food. The food arrived in a basket all wrapped up like I had ordered from DoorDash. We opened the boxes and were immediately underwhelmed at what we were served. My wife had ordered a 24.00 omelette with Serrano peppers and lump crab. Our first impression as we opened the take out container was wow, it looked like it had been prepared with one egg. It was tiny, I mean paper thin with grey crab. There were no peppers inside it as described. I immediately sent it back. I don’t send back food to “get it right”. I always just have it taken off the bill. But here’s the deal. I already paid for it along with a tip despite not even knowing what kind of service we would receive. I ordered a BLT which on the menu sounded delicious. It arrived in a paper sack in two halves. I attempted to take it out of the bag, it immediately fell apart. My hands were also covered in mayonnaise now. I had to use the bag that it came in as a plate fro my 18.00 BLT. Immediately I noticed the bacon was beyond cooked. The sandwich had no flavor whatsoever. Even the mayonnaise was tasteless. Oh yea, I forgot to mention that my wife’s omelette came with a side of cheese grits; not what we wanted but we ordered on our phone and potatoes weren’t an option. I bring this up for a reason I’ll get back to. We also wanted to try one of their pancakes as they were amazing as I remembered. So my wife opened the next “take out” package and there was a 6 inch pancake without anything on it, I had to pay extra for syrup. Yup, extra for syrup! The pancake was actually pretty good. We noticed that we didn’t receive the side of bacon that we would have ordered with the omelette had we been afforded options. We contacted our server and asked for the bacon that we paid 6.00 for two slices. Again, the price isn’t the issue but it was all takeout. He arrived quickly with (imagine if you can) a what can only described as a paper pocket that McDonald’s serves small fries in. There was two overcooked pieces of bacon. By this point we decided to end our experience. I asked the waiter for an adjusted check with reimbursement (yup, reimbursement) for the 24.00 omelette that was pathetic. So he came back with a bill that had a credit for 20.00. Immediately I noticed that I wasn’t reimbursed the 24.00 that you had ALREADY PAID FOR! Now I asked for the manager as I had to discuss this with him or her. He came to the table after about 5 minutes. Bear in mind that there are no other customers there. He explained that we returned the omelette but only received partial credit. He snidely responded that we returned the omelette but not the side which was not even wanted nor was it charged on the receipt. Without delay I pointed to the white paper cup of slop and said “this stuff right here?” He took 15 minutes to correct the receipt.

Why 4’s all around even though it was all good? Just leaves a little something to be desired with the slightly off kiltered service due to it being busy, and the road side nature of the outdoor dining. Highly recommend any of the biscuits, it is big but not heavy. Not sure it would travel well because, well biscuits. Lastly the OJ (which may actually be Clementine juice or something along those lines was worth the entire $9. They don’t add an ounce of anything to it and it’s frothy authentic deliciousness. Parking tip: just past 2nd street is government something parking and it’s $2 an hour garage parking which is nice for if you aren’t sure how long you’ll be walking around after.

First of all, I’m a bit of a breakfast geek. I love a good basic breakfast and frequent as many different “breakfast joints” around the country as I can find. I go into them all whether they look nice or not. We were greeted well enough and informed that we needed to order by the Toast app direct to our table. The meal was expensive, and the ordering prompted us to pay a 18% service charge. All paid for before receiving any food or service. I suppose the novelty threw me off but also I was hungry. Rule #1 Never ever pay for service up front. Pay your gratuity in cash after the meal. We were then informed that our order would arrive in a wire basket. Each item arrived in its own container. Lots of waste and items going to the landfill. This was a shock as almost all the pictures of food from this place are from before they changed from cups and plates to takeout containers. The O-B itself, Google, Trip Advisor, Yelp, and others should take all these false pictures down as it is completely misleading to show nicely plated meals when they are not offered. Rule #2 Do not believe everything you see online. After our meal, and against my better judgement, I asked to see the manager. My purpose was to find out how much longer they were going to continue with takeout style service. I was polite and hoped to have a genuine conversation. I offered him a seat and re fused saying he was too busy. What I got for my troubles was a very defensive 10-minute lecture and no effort at all on his part to listen to me and my concerns. He claimed all sorts of things chief was that, despite the fall off in table business, their overall revenue was better. Secondly, he refused to believe the bad reviews he was getting. Finally, the overall message he conveyed was that he didn’t care about me or my business and actually said that he hopes I will not return. To me that is not the attitude of a long term successful manager. Rule #3 when a business is rude to you don’t do business with them. It’s the only way they learn. Conclusion: if you are happy with paying $$$$ for $ takeout then go ahead and be a dope. You are not being a good consumer though. Normally the only way our free market economy works is for you to reward only good companies with your business. It’s your choice- choose wisely. PS: Note the review fall from 5 star to 1 star beginning in 2001. I was driving so I didn’t see these reviews before dining.

Heard a lot of great things about this place and was excited to try it. Right off the bat I didn’t like that we had to order online from our table, pay for our food in advance as well as tip a minimum set of 18% even though there are no waiters or waitresses. The food was very delicious, however portions were tiny and served in aluminum containers as if I was at day camp. Would’ve preferred having plates and metal cutlery like every other breakfast place. The only other thing that really bothered me is the host/waiter/greeter started touching my phone showing me how to order without my consent and lacked A LOT of personal hygiene in many ways, mainly that his hands and fingernails were beyond dirty. Besides that however, the decor and atmosphere were great and I loved that they locally source all their ingredients. Hopefully they go back to how they used to be.

I just walked out from this a few moments ago and my opinion is that this restaurant is really overestimated. I don’t understand how it’s so highly evaluated. It’s a different experience, feels like a picnic, all the tables on the outdoor, the food comes in a basket and the only toilet is also outdoors. The attendant was very friendly, he told us the oven baked pancakes and biscuit sandwiches were the favorite dishes so we went for them. Unfortunately the food was very plain, unseasoned, I could feel the flavor of flour on the sandwiches, nothing that justifies the price, on the contrary. Overpriced to say at least. Maybe it just doesn’t fit my needs, but I wasn’t happy to pay $136 for a breakfast for 4 adults and 2 kids and leave disappointed.

I’m not even sure I ever experienced something quite like this before. Ordering process is arduous at best. Appetizer (pancake came out). No plates… one platter 5 people. When I asked for a plate I was given attitude from server. I was told “this is picnic style” and we were expected to pick at the pancake with our forks? Ordered $6 coffee +1.50 oat milk then forced to pay an additional $2 for honey. Instead of honey coming out quickly, I had to ask the server who brought syrup. Took another 4-5 minutes to get honey. By this time the coffee is cold. Food is wonderful but management needs to take a hint and work on service. I’m so frustrated with this Sunday morning breakfast I will ask to speak with the owner. I feel like I bought a luxury car and the service department is trying to ruin the deal… of course it’s too late and you already paid for the vehicle.

Kristopher (with a K) is the man! He was very nice, he explained the menu very well. He made amazing suggestions and they tasted amazing. This place truly is one of a kind! At first we were a little confused because the pancakes were $20..... But once we received the pancake we understood why. Probably One of the best pancakes I've ever had. We had a banana pecan pancake which can feed two to three people and also had a Belgium white chocolate pancake. The biscuits and gravy were heavenly. All the biscuits and pancakes were made in the stone oven and you can tell the quality. I had the "add the ham" sandwich obviously on the homemade biscuit and it was phenomenal. The ham was delicious, the cheese was melted perfectly, and the egg was free range egg and it was delicious. The orange juice is fresh squeezed, Yes you're paying $9 for it but I know exactly what a fresh squeeze orange tastes like from Florida because I grew up here, And that's exactly what it was... Squeezed to order. Sangria was really good, It was crisp and bright! The atmosphere is phenomenal. The owner converted the parking lot during the pandemic to a serene and beautiful porch garden environment. On the perfect day, this is the perfect place to have breakfast. Kris was such a sweetheart and he gave us chocolate chip cookies to go! We came from Orlando to celebrate my mom's birthday and this was the best breakfast spot I've had in a long time. I will be coming back!

Came to this place Saturday morning , there is only outside patio seating under umbrellas everythign is pretty much self service you place your order from the QR code on your phone. The food is way to expensive for what they give you. The food is bland and not that good. I order the pancakes with strawberries and bananas and it came out very mushy. The service is very nice and it almost makes up for the terrible food but I will not be coming back here. I left hungry after coming to this place.

Best bacon egg and cheese biscuit ❤️. I always look to try new restaurants in any town I’m visiting. This one is actually close to the children’s museum so it was definitely a win. They do everything online.., order, pay. I paid roughly $50 with tip for 2 people. The bacon egg and cheese I ordered, was rather large. I can’t finish it. My daughter ordered blueberry pancake and sausage Patties. The Patties are massive compared to what we usually get back home. The seating area is really nice. Outdoor dining surrounded by greenery, birds and butterflies. I loved the aesthetic. Visit if you can 😊

The food was amazing, as always. I am really not a fan of the new ordering system for dining in. I've been ordering pick up regularly for the past year. Today was my first day back at the restaurant and I'll just go back to pick up.

SO GOOD! We’ve been visiting Fort Lauderdale for over 15 years and are disappointed we hadn’t tried O-B House sooner. We loved the service, atmosphere and food - that’s a triple threat. Shoutout to Marvin for being our first friendly encounter, followed by Frank’s solid recommendations - the strawberry pecan pancake was outstanding. Bonus? Farm to table. Also, don’t sleep on the chocolate chip cookies. We’ll be back!

We enjoyed an excellent breakfast with exceptional service from Amanda. They have patio seating or inside seating. The pancakes are like actual personal sized cakes, delicious. The omlets were delicious and hot, so was the coffee. Very clean, including the bathrooms. It's a bit pricey but well worth the experience.

The host was very nice but our server was like a deer in headlights. I ordered the meatloaf to find out they didn’t have meatloaf 15 minutes later. So, I ordered the burger. It came out absolutely hammered, over done, not juicy on giant pieces of bread. The corn blueberry pancake was good. Service is really slow here so plan on waiting at least 30 minutes for your food to come out.

This place is really yummy. I am not sure why they don’t offer inside seating anymore? It’s too hot year round. They built a really beautiful courtyard with tables. There was entirely too much waste. They have a dishwasher I’m not sure why they serve everything in tinfoil and paper. Also it says no tipping online but then you have to place your order through an app and it suggests tipping. Very confusing

Do not waste your time and money! This place is certainly overpriced. You have to go online to order and pay for the food and tip, upfront!! The waitress was unfriendly and weird and brought the food in disposable containers and in the basket like in grocery store without even taking it out of the basket lol. The food is ok. Nothing special about it. Two fried eggs with 2 slices of bacon costed me $15 and if you want to get toasts you have to pay extra. I’ve never seen something like that before. The only good thing was an outside setting, yet without an inside option. Final and the funniest thing is that they have a sign on the restroom door, which says “do not poop”.

We got the biscuits and gravy along with a strawberry pancake for the table, savory hearty food that with keep you satisfied all day. We will be returning here for all of our Florida vacations.

Walking by we noticed the bakery goods in the window of the kitchen. Started looking around an saw everyone enjoying the outside dining. Checked the menu and sounds delicious. It's a little different when ordering but times are evolving and technology is making its move. Everything was delicious despite the reviews its an experience and a vibe. Good music plays in the background, table covered by umbrellas and trees. Definitely coming back for the pancakes and bacon. Trust me totally worth it, you will not be disappointed.

Food and staff are top notch! We’ve been here a few times and every time we’re greeted by a cheerful friendly host. They have both indoor and outdoor seating; both are amazing. The fresh biscuits are superb; mouth watering just thinking about it. The cheese grits, the eggs, the biscuit sandwich..everything was on point! If you’re looking for a breakfast spot with great vibes, stellar service, and phenomenal food definitely give this spot a try; you won’t be disappointed.

This was my first time coming here as well as my first time in Florida. I chose this place because I saw the photos and when I came little did I know that everything was going to be amazing! The food, delicious! The drinks, delicious! The ambiance, amazing! Along with the peaceful music with the surrounding nature..when I come back to Florida, I’m definitely coming here! Thanks to Marvin for being such a wonderful host and letting me know how they order and the wonderful hospitality! 💕

I really like the new look. The restaurant is outdoors now. It's really beautiful how they set it up. It's like being in a beautiful green oasis in the middle of the city. I ordered the biscuits and gravy " I am single and gavr" it was delicious. The biscuits was warn, tasty and flaky. I am not kidding. It was really good. I would really this dish. The gravy was chunky and tasted good. I ordered the OB breakfast. It was eggs, thick cut bacon and a side. I chosed creamy grits. Everything was delicious. I was very happy with my meal. I specially liked the creamy cheese grits, delicious. You got to try the baked good. They are freshly done.. I really like the 6 grain bread . It's really good. The muffins ate also great . I was given a complementary chocolate chip cookie. It was good. It tasted freshly done. I enjoyed it. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The ordering is now done with your phone, the payments too. It's actually pretty easy. The meal comes out in a basket. Everything is individually labeled and packaged in disposable containers. It kinda cute. There is a parking lot behind the restaurant. A meter parking. You can also find parking around the streets.

The place has its charm but the standing in line with people being given preference felt odd. Our waiter and the inside was charming …until the food arrived. The other waiter always assumed these were shareable plates. We were a party of two with different taste. The pancake was undercooked, sloppy in the middle with raw batter mixed with strawberries. The eggs with bacon plus homemade bread was a hit. The place is overpriced and is the first time in my life I drank a hot coffee from a preserve jar, glass and hot liquid are not precisely friends. Water was not offered and the handling of dirty dishes was on plane view. They need a better workflow and work on their pricing is out of range for the breakfast market in South Florida. Our male waiter was charming, but an eye over detail was missing.

Every bit of our food was absolutely outstanding!! Very delicious and signature style cooking. The staff is friendly, and speedy with the service. The food was delicious. I had the BLT on a biscuit, which was messier than having on the toast, but still very tasty. My daughter and I shared the corn pancake, yummmmy! She also ordered the potato salad with her breakfast and it was so good. The only reason I gave the service 3 stars is that I watched a table ask for something and when the server walked away, she made faces as if they asked for too much, she was annoyed. It's a very small eating area, so be careful how you handle your reactions that other customers can see.

  • 3/5 Panida T. 2 years ago on Google
EVERYTHING was SO good. All made from scratch! I'd go back for the fresh baked toast and home churned butter alone! The only reason I didn't give more stars is because the mimosas had WAY too much "freshly squeezed" OJ and you can't do menu substitutions- their recipes are unique. Will go back and get toast😄 PS: You can eat there but HAVE to use their app to order and everything comes in to go containers w plasticware. Thanks, Covid.

Very nice atmosphere, my brother and I went there for brunch and they make very good open face sandwiches. Everything is touchless, no contact. They do not take cash and the menu is online and you pay online. The outside patio area was nice, there is shade and a nice breeze. Service was on point. I'd eat there again.

A must visit restaurant in the Fort Lauderdale area. Be prepared for a wait as the beautiful outdoor garden seating is limited. We ordered the farmer breakfast sandwich, coleslaw and blueberry corn pancake. The biscuits were amazing and we took some home with extra gravy. The pancake was thick and fluffy and very cake like. My family talks about this breakfast and it’s a must go every time we’re around.

Order via app. Food takes 20 minutes. Big biscuits, nicely folded omelets, generously filled. Pancakes are different here. Food is delicious. Bill with tip was 146$ A lot for breakfast.
