Coincidentally, we came to the art museum on the first Thursday of the month. Come to find out the first Thursday of the month is free admission and the museum remains open until 7 pm. That was really nice. They also had kids art station on the first floor which looked fun. Enjoyed looking at the art pieces on both floors. There were some really unique, beautiful pieces indeed.

Really nice museum. Last minute addition to our itinerary based on street flags along A1A. It didn't disappoint. Spacious and clean and appears to be following covid protocols. Staff was friendly and helpful. I sincerely appreciated the military discount almost as much as the art! We went specifically for Anna Sui, but enjoyed ALL of the exhibits. The building looks huge so I paid for a full day of parking, but realistically, you can enjoy this museum at a leisurely pace in about 3-3.5 hours.

I loved my experience at NSU art museum. There are two floors and different exhibits. I live in TN so to find this was an amazing thing. Beautiful artwork.

I loved everything about my visit. They had 2 floors open with 9 total exhibits. If you love art and reading all the informational placards, you could definitely spend a few hours enjoying the variety of art they have on display. If you're more of a looking-at-the-pictures kind of a person, you could probably be in and out within an hour. Either way, admission prices are super reasonable and absolutely worth it (they offer a high school and college student discount). We had some baked goods and floats at the cafe, which were tasty. Small gift shop that was fun to look through, but mostly generic merchandise. Public parking garage behind the museum was convenient, restrooms were very clean.

I liked my quick visit to the NSU Art Museum in Fort Lauderdale. They were preparing for a big next exhibition so a large chunk of it was closed thus it was free to enter. Donations are still welcome and please give them something. The Haitian exhibit was great. Had large Glackens collection and several Dali ceramics.

Not a bad place to spend an afternoon. $16 might be a bit too high for the experience. Some pieces of art were great (like the piece with beads), others not that inspiring (I'm not a fan of seeing the pencil markings bleed through the paint). Tourists strolling downtown would enjoy it because they can see all of it quite quickly, in about an hour, and continue to enjoy other parts of downtown. But for serious art enthusiasts, you may find it more rewarding to check out art galleries on Las Olas, and Flagler village and ArtServe. The art surrounding the old Sears center on US1 is incredible...and free...just look out your car. I felt that the level of effort and craft that went into those pieces was just far greater. The staff were really friendly and the cafe looked nice though. I think the museum has great potential considering its size and layout. My opinion might brighten up if I see different exhibits in the future.

While this museum has historically held some amazing exhibitions, its current exhibits are underwhelming, and half of its feature space is empty as of 2/6/22. The materials from its permanent collection on display are also not up to the caliber of other art museums in the region. I rarely make it downtown since covid, and I was hoping for a treat. As I said, underwhelming.

On this visit to this two-floor museum, I got to experience the beautiful exhibition of Designer Anna Sui. This collection was absolutely fabulous. I enjoyed every one of these vibrant pieces. Reminded me of how playful, colorful and fun fashion can be. After exploring more, head upstairs to the other exhibitions and permanent pieces this museum offers. Fyi The first Thursday of every month, from 11-5 pm is free admission. Video on location is up on below social media. Liked the art place, was here for just over an hour. The museum isn’t that big, so one visit and maybe come back every other year.

Perfect gallery to kill an hour of our 12 hour layover in FLL. Close to lots of restos too. The exhibits are fun, interesting and well curated. The Cafe in the gift shop is worth it too.

What a wonderful exhibit with great pieces of art. I would highly recommend you visit the NSU Art Museum. Open Tuesday-Sunday. $5 for students with a valid ID. If you are an NSU or BC student you get in for free with student ID.

Two friends joined me at the NSU Art Museum on the Smithsonian free museum day on September 18th. We were very excited to see The World of Anna Sui exhibit and it didn't disappoint. The retro clothes were delightful to reminise over. The other American Experience exhibits were thought provoking as well. It was a delightful afternoon, and I highly recommend the museum!

A solid small sized modern art museum with about 4-5 exhibitions (there doesn't appear to be a permanent collection). The exhibitions were half audio visual, some plastic arts. All the art from local and American artists. All together it possible to spend 1.5 to 3 hours in the museum (depending on how in depth you are).

Beautiful museum in heart of downtown FL. Eclectic exhibits, always thought provoking and edgy, never boring or something you might see elsewhere. Something for everyone, low and highbrow alike.

Free for local college students. I loved this museum and the current exhibitions. I’m loving the Kehinde Wiley pieces that they have in there. Can’t wait for the next set of exhibitions to come. Lots of inspiration for art students. Definitely recommend this museum.

An integrative canvas of ruminating textures well hung, under the roof of the NSU Art Museum Ft. Laud. Serving the community and guests of greater Fort Lauderdale an encapsulated oasis of art and cultural arcana. I nearly missed the Anna Sui exhibit before it exited the runway in the main exhibit hall as I was fashionably late to this incredible tributorial. An autobiographical rainbow spanning the life and career of a classic American success story, woven in the musings of idealism and embroidered in passion. Upstairs the after party was total “Sartorial Anarchy” hosted by famed portrait photographer Ike Ude. The Haute Monde of Nollywood as captured by the lense of Ike Ude with the narration of an intimate chat with the photographer. What will trend next at the NSU Art Museum!?

Excellent history of fashion design and the story behind Anna Sui's sense & sensibilities of couture. Loved the way each mannequin told a story and wasn't simply someplace to hang some clothes. Been to this museum in the past and it's always a great space to meet my other art enthusiast friends and also as an event space. Nice selection in the gift store/cafe area also. #LocalGem #theresthatmuseum

I make it a point to visit the local art museum when I travel somewhere. The Walasse Ting and William Glackens exhibits were worth the price of admission. Sam Gilliam's work was particularly interesting because he's from my home state. Stop by if you're in the area.

My women's group had a private tour of the museum with two docents. I really enjoyed learning more about the artist because we had the docent with us. They have a large permanent collection of Glackens paintings. The Museum is two stories with very high ceilings. They do have a cafe where you can get coffee snacks and a glass of wine.

Let me start by saying I have no problems wearing a mask. I wasn’t let in due to not having one. Asked if they have another mask to offer for me to use. They couldn’t provide one. I then had to walk to 3 different places around the museum to find one. Wasn’t a fun start walking 2 miles to find a mask in this heat. If you’re going to REQUIRE one. You should provide one. Period.

My experience at this museum was great. The people there were so nice. A worker there (whose name I wish I could remember) was very nice and friendly to me. She showed us around and told us some interesting information about the art works. It is set up with thought and flows nicely, and the art is lovely. Clean, friendly, family fun!

The museum is well kept and organized. The current showings are varied. In the past this has been true as well. In one visit one is able to find something interesting to oneself. This helps to introduce people to art in general. Thus, if you have never visited an art museum before this is one to start with. Further, if you are one well versed in art the museum is for you also. I look forward to the next planned showing months from now. I will like seeing what the administration comes up with.

I came at the perfect time to experience an exhibit of one of the best fashion designers in the world, Anna Sui. I truly hadn't heard much about her or learned of her impact on the fashion industry until reading paragraphs displayed on the walls about her upbringing. Her collections new and old, her vision, her drive and perfectionism have truly shown in her art. I truly believe this has been the highlight of 2021... being able to experience such a wonderfully planned out exhibition!

I loved the young local artist exhibition, which was inspirational, showcasing a wide array of impressive up-and-coming Florida talent. And the Haitian exhibition was mind-opening, with incredible pieces that spanned styles and highlighted individual masters from different regions. I also appreciated the documentary, with social commentary. Staff were very helpful and welcoming too.

Amazing Art Shows. Free from 11am-7pm on the first Thursday of the month. Staff was very kind. BACKPACKS not ALLOWED or if you can't avoid wearing one. As my purse is a backpack as well as my friends. You will have to wear backpacks in the front of you. The security guard was very very nice and knew a lot about the Art.

Not an art buff but definitely some good work going on there right now I do prefer when they have the body works exhibit but that hasn't been in town for as long as I can remember the floors look like somebody did construction never cleaned up their mess and then they put some sort of epoxy over it. For anyone who loves art they will appreciate this much more but I'm glad I went it was free and I think it was on a Thursday so check the schedule you might be able to get in for nothing and that makes it all the worthwhile

Great customer service, with very interesting galleries, divided per artist. A very complete cultural experience. If you are a student pay less (bring your ID). It's a great family activity.

Really neat art museum! Don't pass it up just because it seems small. It's a lovely place with some really cool, diverse exhibits & a cozy cafe.
