This
is
a
small
park,
only
2
parking
spaces
but
it
is
so
cute.
It
is
right
on
a
canal
and
there
are
three
swing
benches
facing
the
water.
Right
behind
the
benches
is
a
a
large
gazebo
that
contains
signs
that
relay
the
history
of
Margate.
There
was
a
homeless
man
sleeping
inside
so
I
didn't
linger
but
from
what
I
gathered
this
was
the
site
for
the
office
building
of
the
founder
of
Margate,
Jack
Marquese.
The
name
for
the
city
came
from
the
first
three
letters
of
Marquses
last
name
mar
and
the
gate
part
came
because
the
town
was
considered
the
gateway
to
west
Broward.
The
site
of
the
park
later
became
the
first
city
hall.
The
building
was
demolished
in
2005
and
on
February
7,
2007
the
site
was
named
Legacy
Park
and
opened
to
the
public.
In
addition
to
the
swings
and
gazebo
there
is
a
boat
ramp
to
put
your
water
craft
into
the
canal.
A
family
of
ducks
looked
to
be
quite
at
home
here.
At
the
entrance
to
the
park
is
a
wrought
iron
letter
M
that
used
to
be
part
of
the
original
gates
to
the
entrance
of
Margate
from
1955.
It
now
sits
in
this
park
and
marks
the
site
of
a
city
time
capsule
that
will
be
opened
when
Margate
turns
75.
This
is
a
nice
place
to
sit
and
relax
by
the
water
and
to
learn
about
the
history
of
Margate.
