This is probably my favorite park in South Florida! There are endless options for a fun day with family (including dogs), or for a zen day on your own. Great walking paths, cool options for people on wheels (cars, bikes, skateboards, etc...). Awesome activity options with the rentals, sightseeing, fishing, the restaurant, affordable parking, and it's across the street from the beach. It's my favorite local getaway for a little bit of everything. If it's not already clear from my review and the pictures from my adventures there, I'm a big fan.

This is really a great park with intercoastal and beach access. There are kayack rentals, great walking paths, fishing, a super dog friendly bar, and grill outside. It offers lots of amenities for the bargain price of $6. Also has a water taxi stop.

Love this park. I visited for the first time with my family on a normal Sunday. The line to get in was very long but not unbearable. It cost $6 to get in but parking is free. The person at the entrance gives you a map which I would recommend you keep because I left mine in the car and was quickly lost haha. There’s a little trail you can walk down and apparently a beach but I couldn’t find it. There’s a kids playground but it’s more geared to older kids like 5-11. It’s a nice place to just walk around or have a picnic or just have an outdoor day.

Came here on a rainy day during the off season but it was well worth the $6 entry fee. On a dryer day I would have explored the hiking trails more. But still managed to get a good look at everything and take a few short walks. Also plenty of park areas with picnic tables, grills and more There is also an historic building that is now a visitor center, and a garden center and garden walk. The garden center was closed but you might enjoy these slightly liminal photos of an empty place that is normally very lively.

One of my favorite parks in Fort Lauderdale! Very easy to access and perfect place to connect with nature. It has plenty of areas to visit and explore. The park is super clean and there’s numerous activities to do around like kayaking, bicycling, fishing, picnicking, roller blading or just view the amazing wild life. I think they have camping options but I’m not sure how it works. Very reasonable prices, you only pay $6 dollars per car up to 8 passengers or $2 per person if you are not driving. They have plenty of parking spots and the best part is that the park is open every single day from 8am to sunset. It has beach access and the restaurant named Park and Ocean has the best burgers and drinks. I definitely recommend visiting this park any day of the week! 10/10.

We had the best experience here renting kayaks! You also have options to rent bicycles, jet ski and other things. It also have a path that takes you to the beach, it's amazing and it's so cheap. You also have a restaurant inside of the park. So all options! The parking it's $3 for all day so it's a good option even if you want to spend the day at the beach

This is a great park that I have been to many times. It was a favorite weekend stop my parents took me to as a kid. They had a wonderful train ride that we enjoyed through the natural setting. Fortunately that natural setting has been preserved for the current and future generations, but sadly, the train was removed years ago. One can still find the old trackless railroad bed within the interior of the park. The nature trails through the hardwood trees and picnic tables along the setting of the Intracoastal Waterway are fabulous. Today we used the park primarily for a different reason, beach parking. Many people use Birch Park as alternatives to garage and parallel parking along A1A. We enjoyed walking a nature trail on the way to the beach and then we found that the pedestrian tunnel under State Road A1A was closed. Iron bars with a padlock blocked the entrance. So instead, we were forced to use the crosswalk across A1A which was not nearly as safe. There is more distracted driving on the section of A1A than anywhere I know. The scenic views of the beach capture the attention of many right where this dangerous crosswalk is. The tunnel is much, much safer for park-to- beach pedestrians and needs to be re-opened. We purposely visited the day before the airshow. We do this to avoid the extremely large crowds and high cost of seeing the actual show. The Blue Angels performed their practice exercises today to the delight of everyone who knows to come the day before. The practice exercises can be seen up and down the beach from Dania to Pompano, but the advantage of seeing it from the beach in front of Birch Park is the public address announcer also sets up there to rehearse his informative descriptions for all visiting that part of the beach to hear the day before the actual event. It's an amazing exercise that all ages enjoy and we beat the big crowds and cost of what would be in place the next day.

We rented kayaks and a canoe and enjoyed a paddle seeing fish, turtles and ducks. Very pretty view. Ordered lunch from the restaurant which was good (burgers and southwest salad with mahi). Best part is we walked over to the beach and didn't have to worry about finding parking or paying $$$ to park. Would have liked to check out more of the nature trails but a really cool place in the middle of the city that transports you into nature.

Great walk starting from the beach through a nice area where there is a restaurant. A great representation of South Floridian ecology with small plaques that give the history of the land, plants and animals. The paths and main roads of this park seen to begin there. There is a paved bike path but also diets paths under cover of interesting vegetation. Live oak trees and mangroves, mango trees etc. Can be found in this park. The paths can bring you to the more beautiful shoreline and mangrove ridden streams.

Beautiful park. We have only visited once but hope to return soon to try out our rollerblades. We took our paddles and enjoyed the small trail this park offers. We were the only ones on the water right after a downpour and that was nice. You will run into overgrown grass that is a small challenge to paddle but doable. We saw a variety of birds and a turtle. The parks employee was kind enough to ask in the parking lot if we would like any assistance and I heard him ask a set of older ladies if they wanted a ride to the beach they respectfully declined, that is something I have only seen in this state park. We will return soon to explore more of this beautiful park.

Such a beautiful park! There’s tons of trails and activities. Everywhere you look there’s something to see. If you skip the beach you can bring your dog to explore with you! Admission is $6 if you’re driving. Definitely recommend! Can’t wait to go back and see more.

I simply love this park that is adjacent to the beach and Intracoastal, on Sunrise Boulevard. If you love nature and want to learn more about Florida’s flora and fauna, or get out and exercise or just relax among beautiful trees, plants and birds, then this is the place for you! Upon entering, you will find gate attendants that are welcoming, have maps available and are eager to answer questions. Great walking, hiking, biking, easy access to the beach, plenty of benches when you need a rest, informative and educational signs, a cool, casual restaurant and super friendly and helpful staff. We kayaked today, and Sean was so patient answering all our questions! The guys down at the water were cheerful and helpful with us—novice kayakers! We had a wonderful time on the peaceful water and interacted with iguanas, egrets, ducks, turtles and herons.

Hiking, kayaking, picnicking. Beautiful park with cheap entrance fee. Kayaks can't be rented until an hour after opening. Beach access. Restaurant wasn't fantastic but was convenient. Banyan tree is amazing and a must-see. Wish the place had better signage, but people were friendly when we asked where to find the 140-year old tree.

Peaceful place to bring the pup and clear your head. So many park and walk across to the beach, hit up a nature trail, rent a bike or a kayak. This place feels like "old Florida" and I hope it never transforms to corporate Florida.

    1. Parking lot gets full on busy long weekends. 2. Parking can be far from all the attractive points of the park by walking. Take a bike or e-scooter. 3. They charge for pedestrian access. That is a bit crazy. Those you compare this to Central Park are missing that important difference. 4. If you plan to visit often you can buy the Annual Florida State Park pass. 5. Great views of the intracoastal from here and my eBike ride was very pleasant.

Came down to Fort Lauderdale for a week stay. Really enjoyed this park and was very convenient for many other accessible things to do. Shawn was very knowledgeable and very outgoing with so much information. Really a people person. Really enjoyed the kayaking, walking and biking in the park itself. Really nice to be able to enjoy a refreshing drink at the end of the day as well. Thank you!

One of my favorite parks. Super Peaceful, Earthy, and HUGE. If you need a nice place to meditate or clear your head or Work out, this is the park to go to. There is a section in the park simply dedicated to meditating. They have many nature walks/trials.This park is also DOG FRIENDLY which I love. Not to mention they have a little bar/restaurant area connected to it in case you work up an appetite or get Parched.

Loved walking this area! It's a beautiful place and not for from the beach! They also have a restaurant in the middle to stop and get refreshed. Definitely alot of mosquitoes so bring the repellant and boots or sneakers if you're going to walk the trail. Definitely will be back to take more pictures.

Mike and I had a wonderful experience at this state park. Karen especially made our experience as she was kind and very considerate with her time. She gave us information on foliage and different trees and the nature of the lands. She pointed out places of interest and wild life spotting of birds, bee's and tree's. We found the staff wonderful and the grounds the same. Bike, walk, Rollerblade or drive through the park at your leisure with a small entry fee of less than $10. Thank you so much!

it’s an oasis perfect for relaxation, contemplation and exercise. Beautiful natural areas and plenty of experiences where to pick. Only $6 per vehicle and $2 per person (or you’re biking or walking). NO PETS ALLOWED. accessible amenities to all of its visitors are available, they offer a beach wheelchair (as the rangers), large print brochures and audio tours too. The floating dock is close due to maintenance looks like. Still so much to do, walking, biking, paddling, fishing, camping and wild life viewing. The pavilions and picnic areas might need a little love here and there. Restrooms, water and garbage bins are everywhere, so enjoy your visit and leave only your footprints behind. Thank you 🙏🏻 🌴🪵🐢

Enjoyed my visit to HTB State Park. Not far from the central area on the strip and next to the beach. 2 dollar fee to walk in allows you access to all of the hiking trails, canoeing, beach area. Several things closed off on my visit, which was ok. The 2 mile paved road/bike path/ pedestrian area was busy with folks enjoying the respite from the sun aa the trees provided shade at 11AM. The large trees near the pavilion provided a great photo opportunity.

Beautiful nature park in Fort Lauderdale! You’ll find gray squirrels, snakes, rabbits and other wildlife here on a lucky day. Perfect place to cycle, swim and a great picnic spot too! A must visit if ever you’re in the area.

Beautiful park. There is a large paved loop, but don’t forget to take the side paths. They are short usually and it’s like your in the middle of a forest not a city. There are nice bathroom facilities and covered picnic areas you rest at, and if your a group, reserve. There were also canoe, kayak, and bike rentals. You can also drive through. Make sure to pay and support the parks, even if they are out of envelopes :)

I've been to this park countless times.... but I've never really ride the entire park by bike and I've never gone on any of the walking paths besides the hammock one near beach parking area. The hammock path I've always enjoyed, but the other paths were great too! I walked my bike through them - not really meant for biking the paths because of low trees, narrow natural paths. There are some areas you can bike through though. Right smack dab in the city, a very busy area, and yet it was peaceful (you do have to ignore some areas of traffic sounds). You can walk/bike right over to Fort Lauderdale Beach from there too. I could only imagine how incredible this area used to be based on the habitats at the park right next to the beach/ocean. This area, before the massive human population, would have definitely been a major Wonder of the World! Also, plenty of people fishing off the seawall along the intercoastal!

This is the best state park I’ve been to. You have a bar, picnics area and then right across the street you have the ocean. I’m from out of state and will definitely be coming back here.

Place was so fun, so much to do. We did the two people kayaks and bikes, the people working were especially nice. Sean gave us recommendations on what would be best for me and my kid as far activities, paths, and plan of attack, he said as so helpful and friendly. Make sure you bring water on the bike ride or kayaks as it's HOT and a lot of activity. There's a restaurant there, I didn't eat but a cold beer after the kayak was incredible. Lol. We will definitely be back, and bring friends. Good for small or large groups.

Nice park in the middle of civilization, it feels like you're farther away. Saw a few nice butterflies, although I hope there are many more in peak season. A good path to walk, although it was flooded out at one part in the mangroves. Restaurant surprisingly good, and not crazy expensive.

I had forgotten how charming this park is. There is access to the beach and so many trails to walk. And you can walk along the Intercoastal or kayak. Lots of places to picnic. My visit brought back many memories, 60 years of them. There used to be a train you could ride on, running through the park. I enjoyed the garden club area as well.

Very nice place partly on the intercoastal. We found a nice spot we could sit right on the water and watch the boats go by. Walking trails were very muddy and not very walkable so we had to walk on the bike lane on the main road. Overall good experience.

Very cool and adventurous for hikers. Foot paths are wide and well maintained. Beautiful vegetation and some of the trees have a majestic look and feel about them. Zero bugs to complain about but considering its the winter season, i can't say anything about the summer time.

Moved to Fort Lauderdale in 2015 and I have to say for the area and what I like to do (hiking) this is one of the best spots if not the best. Moving to South Florida from Pennsylvania I knew hiking and any type of elevation was not part of the landscape, but finding a large park to walk around in besides the beach was difficult. This park has it all! Hiking, picnicking, kayaking and other ocean sport rentals! The trails are decent size and ones that loop the whole park which is large. I also love how there is a bar/restaurant inside the park with great views of the beach and the beach access tunnel (which is closed now and again). Definitely a spot to check out if you are in the area and love being outdoors and “hiking”. What’s also great is right next door you have the Bonnet House and gardens to check out.

The park is really nice and the restaurant is good, has beer and is super busy. Right next to the beach. The playgrounds are just swings though. The kids liked the big trees more than anything.

Wonderful FL State Park. The loop is full of bikers, roller blades, scooters, joggers, etc. A family environment. Lots of Hiking trails and views of boats traveling in the intercoastal. Trails can get flood if there is a lot of rain days before.

I LOVE this park. From parking right on the intercoastal and relaxing so the beautiful nature walk around and through the park, and being able to walk across the street to the beach, it’s such a great park. I love the meditation area as well. Such a little hidden gem of a spot.

This is a very well kept state park - terrific for trail running only if you don’t care to drive far down south to Oletta from Broward. The trail loop is about two miles and mostly tar so if you’re a long distance runner you might have to go on multiple loops and it’s pretty much like running in the city. Not very challenging. There are plenty of bicyclists and skaters but they all play nice and do not really get in the way. You do not really get a trail feel, there are a couple of nature trails but nothing technical and it’s mostly flat with minimal elevation but given that they managed to squeeze in some semblance of a park smack in the middle of the city is quite something. The Atlantic is right off the East end of the park, you can get to it through the Funky Buddha brewery and while it’s real cool, you do get back right into city traffic which sort of takes away from the vibe of wanting to go trail running. $6 to enter per car, there was plenty of parking only because we went right when they opened at 8 am. The place filled up pretty fast and an hour later we noticed people driving around in circles looking for a spot.

Love this park ...you can bring your own bike or rent one. They have a great nicely shaded outdoor restaurant with live entertainment on the weekends. You may also want to enjoy an adult beverage with your meal. There is a well stocked gift shop for anything you may need or want for your day. The trail is nicely shaded over 70 % of the ride . I usually go around at least twice. The intercostal side is always fun to see all the watercraft going by. This time we were able to see a couple of baby tortoises released by one of the park rangers. There is direct access to the beach from the park. It’s a great spot to beat the heat and enjoy the great outdoors in Sunny South Florida!

Quite literally one of my favorite places in Ft.lauderdale. Between the nature trails, kayaks and bike rentals you can't go wrong. They also have this great little bar and grill- Park and ocean, the burgers are a must. Absolute 🔥🔥🔥. On Sundays they have live music and are also pet friendly. Check them out.
