I
recently
went
out
to
dine
at
a
restaurant
with
my
wife.
It
was
meant
to
be
a
casual
outing,
but
it
turned
into
a
situation
I
hadn't
anticipated.
Once
we
finished
our
meal,
she
left
a
tip
for
the
waitress.
Out
of
nowhere,
another
waitress,
who
hadn't
been
attending
to
us
initially,
approached
our
table.
She
inspected
the
tip
and,
to
my
surprise,
asked
my
wife
for
more.
Before
I
could
comprehend
what
was
happening,
she
turned
to
me,
making
a
direct
request
for
an
additional
tip.
I
was
caught
off
guard.
I
could
sense
the
rising
tension.
My
wife
looked
visibly
upset,
not
just
at
the
audacity
of
the
waitress,
but
I
could
tell
she
also
expected
me
to
support
her.
In
that
split
second,
wanting
to
avoid
any
confrontation
and
thinking
I
could
perhaps
defuse
the
situation,
I
gave
the
waitress
what
she
asked
for.
I
didn't
anticipate
that
this
would
make
my
wife
feel
unsupported.
Things
escalated
when
my
wife
decided
to
approach
the
front
desk
to
reclaim
our
tips.
The
second
waitress
followed,
and
there
was
an
exchange
where
my
wife
expressed
her
confusion.
The
waitress,
in
a
condescending
tone,
suggested
I
explain
the
situation
to
her,
referring
to
my
wife
as
my
"friend".
I
could
feel
the
discomfort
growing,
and
I
just
wanted
to
get
out
of
there.
To
be
honest,
the
initial
service
wasn't
even
that
great.
Our
original
waitress
barely
checked
on
us
and
our
table
was
left
cluttered.
I
was
in
a
tough
spot,
torn
between
wanting
to
defend
my
wife
and
trying
to
avoid
a
scene.
I
pulled
her
out
of
the
restaurant,
thinking
it
was
the
best
course
of
action
at
that
moment.
In
retrospect,
I
wish
I
had
handled
things
differently.
The
evening
was
meant
to
be
enjoyable,
but
it
turned
into
a
challenging
situation
that
left
both
of
us
feeling
disrespected
and
uneasy.
